This review is long overdue. I started coming here when I worked across the street. Such a hole in the wall GEM. They have a lunch special everyday I believe from 11am-3pm. Try to go during this time as you get a better deal. I would recommend the red curry special or yellow curry special. It comes with the curry with choice of meat or tofu, rice, small salad, and wontons. Their spicy noodles are also delicious. I recommend getting them with FRIED tofu. Game changer. Other delicious items include pineapple fried rice, mango sticky rice, and if you're not adventurous you can't go wrong with their orange chicken. PRO TIP: dine in. The only flaw in this place is that they've gotten my order a bit off a few times when I've ordered take out. One time I caught the mistake before I left, but the other times I got white rice instead of brown or non-fried tofu when I asked for it fried. Gotten take out here a couple of times. This time got the Tom yum with shrimp, pad see ew with pork and papaya salad mild. Salad was not bad compared to other Thai restaurants and pad see ew was solid. The soup felt watered down. This is the place you go to when u crave Thai,ure one block away, and super lazy. The pad Thai is average at best and god forbid if you have a special order like " no beansprouts", ya they will completely ignore it. I HATE BEANSPROUTS, I told them 3 times to not put any beansprouts, and she confirmed it about 4 times that they wouldn't. SO what happens? I pick up my food, I get all comfortable and guess what? My pad Thai has more fucking beansprouts in it than noodles. I have enjoyed Thai Rama's food for a long time. I usually order from them online and the hot, fresh food arrives via a sweet-natured delivery person. I love the crrab dumplings, the wontons appetizer, the shrimp pad thai, the golden shrimp and the fried chicken fried rice. The only caveat is wifh the fried chicken fried rice. When I ordered it about two or three months ago, it arrived with hair in it. Long, black, straight hair. About six or seven strands of hair. I was so grossed out, I have not been able to order and eat that dish since. Hence the three stars above. Ordered takeout from here a couple nights ago. Food was good. I ordered cream cheese wontons and the pineapple chicken curry. Definitely overpriced. The delivery minimum requirement was really frustrating because I was 2 dollars away and they have nothing under 6 bucks. Ended up having to order sides of sweet and sour sauce to meet the requirement. Not going to waste money or food ordering something I don't need. Also don't expect a quick delivery. The Pad Thai noodle had lots of flavor but wasn't too saucy or dry either. The chicken in it was really tender and moist, even tho it looked like it might have been dry. It was delish. The tom Kha shrimp soup.was perfectly flavored and spicy and not too thick. Shrimp in it were plentiful and well cooked. Altho i wish they had left out all the cabbage that was in there. Out of red, yellow or green curry, Thai Rama does yellow the best. It had the greatest depth of flavor and richness. Red was next best and green was bath water. I really wanted to try the green even though I knew it had no eggplant and I love it with eggplant and believe it should always have eggplant. Sorry, but I forgot the actual names of the dishes I've tried, but maybe that's cause I didn't bother? Beef and chicken were alright, but they were on the dry side. I usually enjoy flat noodles, but they were somehow very plain without color and flavor. Egg rolls were standard, but the biggest problem that I had were in the string beans. This place is by my old high school, but I never gave it a second glance since I never walked by it. I finally came on the recommendation of my little brother who conveniently is a high school student right now. I technically have been to the place one time before, but I did not purchase food as I wasn't hungry at the time. First things first: street parking is crap. It is located on an intersection that is incredibly busy with many ethnic stores nearby. You think the residential area would be better, but no dice. I had to move the truck three blocks away since the only other place that was parkable was a 30-minute zone. That is fine for take-out, but unacceptable for dining. When my family ate there, my mother and I had Pad Thai, my little brother the Spicy Noodle, and my older sister the Yellow Curry. I also took advantage of the Yelp Check-In offer of free egg rolls. We all sampled each other's food. The Pad Thai is delicious and they give you alot for the price. It is enough for two people, IMO. The Spicy Noodle is of similar portion size, but very hot. But my favorite was the Yellow Curry, as the taste was subtle but warm & friendly. My suggestion for future Yelpers would be to order to go or get delivery, as the sit in experience is subpar. The eating area is very small and there's even less privacy than a fast food joint. But the food is the priority and they do not disappoint. read more
