SEATING super comfy space inside with great views of the surrounding mountains. There are plenty of tables for bigger parties to push together. FOOD Lots of options for the vegetarians in your party. You can omit egg for some to be vegan. Adding Gluten to your dish will cost more than meat option? (-1 Star). Tasty dishes. Spice level is very good. Spicy = spicy. The recipes are a little on the sweeter side here. Overall nice flavors and well cooked greens. Blistered cherry tomatoes in Pad Kee Mao were excellent. PORTIONS are pretty small. **This was not a "lunch special". I finished the Thai iced tea in one long sip. (Small glass, filled with ice when tea was done) SERVICE Fantastic. Not sure the food is good yet. Ordered to-go just realize price on their website and also on Yelp is not updated . They didn't mention the price change when placing order over the phone. I ordered the Tom Kha with chicken and the mango sticky rice to go. The soup was delicious and so was the sticky rice but the sticky rice had the rice portion so small and was done is four bites. The mangoes was an entire mango but the ratio was completely off. Not worth the $18.99 charged. read more

We've been coming to Min's Kitchen for more than 20 years. It's a fixture and the dining room is frequented by regulars. The food looks, smells, tastes, and feels like its homemade and nothing something warmed up from a Sysco truck. Been driving by this local spot for a year and finally tried it. Why did we wait so long? Everything we ordered was delicious! Came here for dinner and it's a pretty legit Thai spot. It's a small, vintage place in La Canada, with parking around the back. The interior in feels quite old, but I think this spot has been here for a long time. Servers are friendly and food was great. Ordered the mus mun lamb curry with rice. My family and I used to frequent Min's a lot in the past. We truly loved this place and every time we would order over 100$ worth of food, and even recommended them to other family and friends. We understand the owners and cooks are getting older and require help however, today's service was UNACCEPTABLE. We got to the restaurant at 6pm and by close to 8pm we're only served 2 appetizer dishes (we ordered a total of 8 dishes, 3 appetizers and 5 mains) The waiter kept forgetting our order, keep inputting orders wrong, and kept giving our orders to different tables. Customers who came after us got all their orders and there we were PATIENTLY waiting (cause we were trying to be understanding of their situation) but by the 3rd hour it was getting ridiculous. It wasn't until I complained about our wait that finally all our dishes came out. On top of the HORRIBLE service the boss lady had the nerve to tell my aunt (who is a regular) to next time call ahead and not RUSH the kitchen. EXCUSE ME? HOW IS US WAITING 3 HOURS FOR OUR FOOD WITH MULTIPLE MISTAKES ALL OF A SUDDEN OUR FAULT?!?!! Min's used to be great but that's no longer the case. Good Thai food in the city of La Cañada The owners are very friendly and personable. I felt like I was a member of the family sitting at the kitchen table. They recommend some of their popular dishes like the sizzling beef which comes on a hot skillet with sautéed spinach and a peanut sauce. The beef was super tender and that peanut sauce was very flavorful. The crispy chili chicken with cashews was the popular dish at the table. The dish is true to its name. Get it! We also ordered some staples like pad see ew and hot and sour soup. Also hit the spot. They have been in business for over 40 years and there's a reason why they still are. From the moment we walked in, we felt the comfort and authenticity of Min's Kitchen. We were politely greeted and welcomed in, and all of the workers were extremely hospitable and pleasant. They contributed to the homey feeling of the restaurant, but that is not to overshadow the food. The dishes, no different than the ambience and service, were outstanding. I eat at a lot of trendy places with trendy chefs but when giving this review I have to consider the area and also that I've only tried two dishes. La Cañada is an afluent city and a small one, at that. Given the area and how small the town is, I'd say this place is acceptable. The table with two young men that sat down next to me said that they really like the chicken satay. I, on the other hand, ordered a Chinese dish at a Thai place. It wasn't outstanding but it also wasn't bad. The lady who works here is very sweet and seems to know a lot of her customers by name. She said she'd be closed for summer because they don't have a waiter to help. I think they have been in business for a long time. In addition, I got the seasonal mango sticky rice and was very happy with it. I've had mango sticky rice at other Thai places and hated it because they either put too much butter or too much salt or too much condensed milk or the mangos were sour. I mean, there is A LOT that could go wrong but they did well with that one. read more

My wife and I finally dined at Min's Kitchen tonight. We live about a quarter mile from the restaurant and have driven by it almost every day. It became a joke between us that we had never dined there. She had dined there about 30 years ago. I am not familiar with Thai food but had plenty of time to peruse the menu and wasn't rushed to order. The staff member who greeted was patient and gave us plenty of time to decide. I selected the Hot Pot Soup dish. My wife ordered a cup of wonton soup, fried shrimp and we shared the satay combo and mini egg rolls. We didn't realize until later that the owner, Toi, took order and answered some questions we regarding our choices. The food came out in not too much time and everything was delicious. I truly enjoyed the Hot Pot Soup that had shrimp, scallops, calamari, fish, clams and mussels in a savory broth. I asked for less spicy but will ask for a little more heat next time. After we completed our meal, we were able to have a nice conversation with Toi who told us the history of the restaurant. She was so kind and friendly and definitely made us feel like family. It's evident from all the different people who came in for dine in or take out that Toi and her staff truly appreciate each and every customer. Many were greeted like family as we were treated with a hug from Toi when we left. I neglected to take a photo of my meal but made up for it with a photo of myself with Toi. Been living in the area for a few years now and we have always wanted to try this place. Tonight we finally did and boy are we sorry we didn't come sooner!!! It's Friday after Christmas so the place filled up very quick but we heard some regulars say "I've never seen you this busy, good for you!" I'm happy to see that business is doing well for this little family owned local restaurant. We ordered Thai tea, beef satay, fried rice, red curry chicken and tom kha tofu soup. Thai tea was tasty beef satay was tender and flavorful fried rice was awesome red curry was garlicky and delicious tom kha was perfect! Ambience is cozy and makes you feel right at home. I believe it might be mother and daughter working on the floor and they were really moving to get everyone taken care of even with them falling behind a bit. I was pleased to see that everyone had patience with them as they were very overwhelmed with people in the restaurant and take out orders. Almost "hangry" brought me here... My bf and I unexpectedly came here after spending several hours in the Angeles National Forest. We were getting desperate for food and this was the second restaurant we spotted coming off the hill. We arrived a little after 8pm and found a parking spot in the small lot behind the restaurant. The restaurant was busy when we arrived but seating was readily available. The vibe was casual, relaxed and social. As we dined, the restaurant emptied out and the noise volume went down. The menu was like a mini book. There were so many yummy Thai options! I was happy to see they had a vegetarian page. We ordered the Sizzling Beef, Fried Rice, Spring Rolls, Tofu Larb and brown rice. Our food arrived quickly, was in good portion and was beautifully plated. My bf loved the Sizzling Beef. The meat was tender and the peanut sauce was creamy and well flavored. The Spring Rolls were heavenly! Service was outstanding! The lady who assisted us was super warm, friendly, helpful and attentive. The restrooms were gender specific, single user restrooms. Very close to Descano Gardens so we stopped by afterwards. Parking is in the back to make it easy and it was empty when we walked in. Friendly greeting when we came in so we took a table by the window. Service was friendly throughout dinner but it got busy pretty quickly. Families with kids and couples who were regulars made their way in. The flavors were not very quite what we expected since we were expecting more intensity. We ordered fish with curry sauce and asked how was fish cooked, which was fried but we were not expecting fillets. We also got the tom yum soup and it was hot but not as flavorful as we wanted. I came in the day before the owner was going on a one-month vacation but she was explaining to me how this is a family owned restaurant for decades. The lady was friendly but a bit stressed out (probably due to her upcoming trip) but the service was great overall. The food is home-made and very good overall. The Pad Thai was a little sweet but still good. The pineapple fried rice was very good and its presentation inside of a pineapple made it more appealing. The coconut curry soup we had was very flavorful and delicious even on the scorching hot day that we came. The duck was my favorite, so savory and flavorful. I was also a fan of their house Thai coffee which resembles Vietnamese coffee with the condensed milk. The atmosphere is comfortable, not too large and we came on a Sunday afternoon which was not busy at all. The quality of the food is great, BUT! the entrees are ridiculously tiny tiny small and for the price of the entrees, they MUST serve more food in the plate. when they brought the chicken entree to the table I seriously thought there was a cat around to feed it. That is how tiny the entrees are. For $20 to $28 per entree??? that is a pure rip off. The serving soup spoons are so tiny like a barbie utensil. Auntie Min has been in the restaurant business for 45 years and going strong, so she doing something right I believe. This cute little place covers all the Central Thai basics of : soups, curries, noodles, and appetizers that are fresh, clean and healthy... and most importantly, tasty!  This won't be the most amazing Thai food you've ever eaten but it won't let you down either. My order of Pad Thai, Red Curry, and Combination Satay meat skewers was delicious. I appreciate that nothing was too sweet tasting or heavy with fish sauce; and when I requested "Thai Spicy" for my curry dish, they made it spicy! Outstanding food and excellent customer service! Mins has been a staple in our family for years. Between members of our family we've had everything on the menu and never had a bad meal. While everything is good, our favorites are scallops and pad Thai with tofu which, having eaten at a lot of Thai places, rank as the absolute best. The customer service is also outstanding. It's a family run place and they care about their customers and want you to have a good time and enjoy their food. This is one of the few places that will give you little extra bits (Eg sauce) in your to-go box so that when you reheat it their foods still delicious. Who does that??? Incredible! Parking: there is ample free street (depending on the time of day) but there's also a small lot with half a dozen spaces just to the east of the restaurant and behind it. The best Thai food I've had in 20 years. The other place i really liked was in Seattle, good was just as good but the ambiance was better. We had the sizzling beef, curry chicken, shrimp pad Thai, chicken say yay, and fried rice. Everything was very flavorful. It was our first time there but I think we were the only ones that weren't regulars. The waitress seemed to know everyone by name. I overheard a 12 year old saying he loves this place.
