Two other parties came and dine in after us. The food was as expected, delicious and filling. The service was slow as there was only one person working at the front. She was very kind and the wait does not bother us. Had my Thai Ice Coffee come a little late and she even added extra coffee when I asked for a to-go cup at the end, very generous. Angel Thai Cuisine is great. We love all the food there and always have some to take home for later. Located in Glendale, parking is pretty easy. I don't know if they take reservations so call them. We waited only about 10 minutes for a table. The place is small, but ever so cute and clean. It has interesting art on the wall that you will enjoy. The seating is comfortable and spacious. We love the service, they were very nice to us and got our order right the first time. I loved their hot tea. All of their curry dishes are great, we have tried them all but the tofu as we don't usually like it. We love their starters. They have great egg rolls and spring rolls. My son has food allergies, so as a mom, I always double-check ingredients to keep him safe. When I asked our server whether the mango sticky rice contained any coconut-related ingredients, she responded impatiently, "Do you see any coconuts here?" Although her tone already made me uncomfortable, I still politely followed up and asked whether it was made with coconut milk or regular milk. She then replied, "Right, it's coconut milk." Food allergy questions are never "stupid questions," and I believe most customers would appreciate a restaurant where servers can answer them with basic patience and professionalism instead of attitude. P.S She literally let the door slam on us while I was trying to push our double side-by-side stroller through the entrance. (She was outside while we're entering.) From the incredible staff I ordered the Ka Pow Moo Krob and oh wow! In case you're unfamiliar it is crispy pork belly, red/green bell peppers, onions, mushroom, basil, dried chiles and this umami sauce that makes you want to keep eating. It comes with rice and you can have them fry up an egg to top the rice. The high flavor sauce pairs well with the flavor and crispy fat of the pork, the kick from the dried chiles, the herbal not from the basil and the balance of the egg and rice. I remember the restaurant being on the smaller side with tables good for parties of 2-4. They had a small parking lot in the back. - Thai iced tea. At the time, this was free with a Yelp check in. The drink was sweet and creamy with good tea flavor. It was bordering a little too sweet even for me, so I waited for the ice to melt. - Papaya Salad ($16). The papaya salad was just okay for me. I thought it could have been spicier. What stood out to me though were the peanuts and shrimp. The peanuts were crispy without being oily, and the grilled shrimp were plump and yummy. - Ka Pao Moo Krob ($19.75). This dish was excellent! The rice was fluffy and soft, yet the individual grains stuck together in tasty chewy clumps. The fried egg was also cooked perfectly with crispy edges. I tasted wok hei on the mushrooms. Glossy green basil leaves contrasted against the brown pork belly. The meat was tender, a little fatty, and a little crispy wherever there were bits of skin. The dish didn't feel too oily. - Khao Soi ($18.50). My bf enjoyed this dish more than I did. The fried egg noodle topping was interesting, and I appreciated the flavors of the mild curry broth with coconut and fish sauce. However, it was too sweet for my liking. The lime helped cut through the sweetness. Unfortunately, I found the noodles too soft. Also, the chicken leg could have been more tender. I have been coming here more frequently as of late. Before that, it might've been almost 15 or more years since my last visit. I was really glad to see that the restaurant was still there, however, it is under new ownership and management. The food here is delicious. I personally don't care too much for their pineapple fried rice, which is actually a favorite dish of mine. That is only because they do not put enough curry powder in it. I really enjoy their soups. They are not super spicy although they can't be made that way. One thing that is frustrating to me is going here and ordering food, but not knowing any of the prices. None of the prices are listed in the menu. I know that is very often common with much fancier, restaurants. However, in casual, but still nice dining establishment, I would really appreciate prices. It was definitely a treat but we ordered their Crying Thaiger. The meat was cooked so nicely, but I honestly don't think that I would order it again Had I known it was going to be $30 or more. For $30 I would've expected a much larger portion. There is a small parking lot behind the restaurant. But like I said, it is small. It is very limited. I have been lucky the last few times to be able to find a spot there. It saves you from the possibility of a ticket or being parked in the wrong space because a neighboring business has valet parking privileges. Aside from the smaller than desired portion of the Crying Thaiger, I feel like everything is served in more than fair amounts for their prices. But again, don't expect to see any prices on their menu. The same girl works here, every time that I have visited she's always the only waitress. She is very, very sweet. She has never missed a beat or botched an order. There are always more than enough seats available at the restaurant when we come. My family and I like to come for early dinners our late lunches. Everything is made fresh to order and the cooks are actually very friendly as well. If you bother to take a minute to say hi, or to wave to them, they often times will wave back to you. Next time I visit, we may order the pad Thai, but ask for more of the tamarind flavoring. Sometimes I have to ask them for a bit more tamarin because otherwise the dish feels less authentic. But the second you walk in, you're greeted by the most friendly and kind staff. We ordered the Panang Curry and this eggplant dish with pumpkin. Now, let me be clear, I hate pumpkins. I was honestly disappointed when my friend ordered it, but I didn't want to be doubtful of her judgment. When the dish came though, it completely blew my mind. The taste was flawless. Not too hot, not too sweet, not too spicy. The pumpkin had the perfect crunch, the eggplant was cooked just right, and the sauce tied everything together beautifully. The Curry was no different, absolutely delicious. We ate to our heart's content, and kudos to Ban, our incredible server. She checked on us several times, kept our water full, was extremely friendly, and never once rushed us. My friend was going through some tough things, and I just wanted to sit and spend as much time with her as possible. Even after we paid, we were told we could sit as long as we wanted. That kind of hospitality is rare. I'm completely blown away by both the food and the service. If my calorie tracker wasn't my jailor, I'd go there every single day. What Angel Thai doesn't make up for in looks or aesthetics, it makes up for tenfold in food and service. Something places like Café Madre or the trendy and overpriced Bacari would never understand. I came here with my girl for brunch and we were both pleasantly impressed. The restaurant's ambiance is a bit run down but the food was spectacular. We got their Chicken Pad Thai, Khao Soi, and Thai Tea's. We got our usual Pad Thai and decided to try something new for a change which was the Khao Soi. The Khao Soi definitely gave us a strong impression with its authentic flavors. The chicken leg inside the Khao Soi was very tender and eating it with the broth was addicting. The noodles were great with it as well; not too chewy or firm. They provided great service and gave explanations to any questions we had. This has been our go to Thai spot in Burbank but something happened last night. Everything was below par. We ordered take out as usual -- our usual dishes and it all was sub par as if they changed their cook, and front of house bc we also picked up the food and received no silverware, napkins, condiments like Sambal which is key! Or any soy sauce or chili oil which is what I ask for specifically and I guess I may have to ask specifically for all those things but with Thai -- it's kinda of a no brainer standard right? The spiciness which was requested for 2 (out of five) -- they even asked if tha was 2 out of 5 or out of 10. Again isn't the standard spiciness scale based on 5? Isn't that the case for any place? The careful balance of savory, sweet, spice, and heat seems to be lacking in many of the dishes. The usual litmus test of Pad Thai came out quite average. Entrees can be inconsistently thin on protein. Value for takeaway portioning also felt a little disingenuous. Service is excellent and friendly. The flavor was definitely a 10 but the overall dish was an 7.5 because I didn't not like the texture of the noodles. Stopped by for a quick lunch on a Sunday and left very full and happy. This spot advertises parking in the back, but we opted for street parking. We were seated immediately and service was friendly, prompt, and fast. The inside is pretty simple and modest, which matches the unassuming outside. The Food: - Thai BBQ Pork: So savory and delicious/cooked to perfection! The dipping sauce it comes with was amazing (we def asked for this to go). - Fresh Spring Roll with Shrimp: Comes with 6 pieces and is definitely veggie heavy/didn't have noodles inside. Tried Angel Thai for the first time! Food: -pad see ew: classic taste, noodles were delicious and well cooked where they're still squishy but firm enough and flavorful! The beef was a little tough on this dish, but i find this happens at a lot of Thai places. It also comes with broccoli instead of bok Choy -drunken noodles: full of flavor! The spice is subtle enough but there enough where you don't hVe to add hot sauce but it still has a yum to it! The chicken was not dry at all which i was surprised and really yay about it! Veggies too so yay!! Was happy with this order -pad Thai: i just had a sample of this but the noodles were chewy in a good way and the shrimp was good! -chicken sate skewers were for the kiddos and they liked it with the sweet sauce Drink: -used the check in Thai tea and it was good!! This is my new go to spot and where I take my family and friends for Thai Cravings because this restaurant stays authentic. I especially love their Pad See Ew with fried tofu. They do not skimp on the ingredients and tofu is so nicely fried. They also have chili oil to go along with it. Another must get is the Crying Tiger. It comes with good quality meat cooked like Medium Rare along with this tangy sauce. There are so many more dishes that I get but these are the two that are my favorites. I always dine in here because it feels very inviting to be having conversations and gives out the family restaurant feel, which I love. I like how they packaged the drink very well to prevent any spilling. I'd order it again. I'd also order the dumplings too. It was proportional with the filling and dumpling. I like how they added wonton wrappers aside from the cream cheese wontons. The roast pork tasted weird in a pairing with the rad na. Like they should completely be separated dishes. The shrimp roll was basic. Price Uncertain if the online format with chow now has a higher price than purchasing over the phone or in person. But if it's your first time ordering $25 or more you get $5. Comparing it to the website menus it is more expensive though so the $5 didn't really mean much in the end. Great Thai spot with friendly people. We orders the fried tofu as an appetizer and it was perfection! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
