Service was great and portions are large and for this area of the state the flavor was probably "normal" but compared to other places we have been the Panang curry was very watery and not as creamy (probably not enough real coconut milk or water was introduced from wet or frozen vegetables). . I ordered the curry Thai hot and it was sufficiently hot but just lacked the creamy flavor I am used to. the pad Thai was decent but not as much of the punch as we like (lacking some tamarind or oyster sauce I assume). Drink menu had the usual old school big beers and a Thai and Chinese beer but no local crafts or anything creative so I just drank water (which needed a better filter because it tasted of chlorine ). Small lunch menu.. dinner selection more extensive. Ordered an entree and kitchen decided to just add bell peppers when it was not listed as an ingredient in the entree description. When we asked server about it we were told they add them to add color to presentation. Delicious!!! Very nice and helpful servers. We had many questions about the menu and they were so nice to help us. We tried everything and it was all delicious and served hot. We started with the appetizer platter which included Fried Wontons, Crab Rangoon's, Egg Rolls, Thai Spring Rolls and Fried Shrimp all which were served hot and delicious. The Egg Rolls were exceptional. I ordered Wonton Soup and it was great the broth was very light and delicious. My friend ordered the Panang Beef and she loved it, flavor was amazing. I ordered my favorite Phi Thai Noodles with Shrimp it was sooo good. Their portions are large and neither of us could finish our meals. The food is good. BUT, to deduct some ingredient is ok and no cost. To exchange or add an item that would replace another ingredient will cost you. As my wife is gluten free and I do not eat meat, the lunch special is not accommodating for us. But we still ordered and then wasted the chicken , not GF and because of the chicken, I won't eat it. So, at least the price of lunch is good. I changed my original star rating to only 3 due to the attitude of no customer service. read more

The setting is relaxing, and nicely appointed, & the staff have nice outfits. The spring rolls were very good, so we anticipated a good entree as well. I ordered the pad Thai, & husband ordered black garlic & pepper sauce, with chicken, both Thai hot. The server asked if we could handle heat. Not sure there were any peanuts on mine, & neither were close to being Thai hot. Husband's was supposed to have a thick brown sauce--it was a weak brown broth. Server never came back to check on us. When we were done another person came to fill our water glasses, & clear our plates. He was efficient and friendly. As we went out the door, no one said anything, even tho 2 or 3 staff members were standing behind the counter, otherwise I would have shared with them what I am saying now. . I never thought I would give a Thai restaurant a one star review but these guys earned it. Located in Sumter Landing in the Villages I was really disappointed in this place It's a nice enough place but the food was flat terrible, very bland with no taste, I was shocked. I ordered a pork dish medium heat. Imagine my surprise when it had zero heat, of course it has zero taste to go along with it so there's always that. Now I realize that they might lower the heat a bit because of all the old farts but I'm curious as to how they managed to remove the flavor also. This is a quaint little Thai dine in spot in the villages. The food is delicious! We went there for lunch and enjoyed their free time vegetable soup and spring roll. The soup tasted like Ramen noodle broth mixed with Chinese cabbage shredded carrots, and a few peapods. It was very tasty. We are vegetarians so they gave us a spring roll with it. The tofu was fried crispy. I would definitely recommend this place. The portions were a little small; thus the four-star rating. read more

We were told this was the best Asian food in The Villages. My wife ordered Pad Thai,I ordered a spicy noodle dish. While the food looks good and fresh it had absolutely no flavor. We stopped by for a quick dinner tonite and were VERY impressed. The service was good, quick an attentive. The food was AMAZINGLY good. Hubby had the red curry beef, and I had the lettuce wraps and Tom Ka Gi. He loves his thai hot food, and man was it ever....he was breaking a sweat. Said it was the best red curry he has had, so I tried it.....HOT STUFF!!! Very tasty, but I am not into that kind of heat. Mine was the best Tom Ka I have had since being in Thailand.....perfect balance of flavors. I could enjoy a bowl of this every day for the rest of my life. Lettuce wraps were very tasty as well. Thai Ruby is our favorite (and only..) Thai place in The Villages. Love their lunch specials where you get a little soup and an eggroll. I've had their curry and a few of their other tofu and veggie dishes. Pictured are the vegetarian green curry, banana coins for dessert, and a Thai tea (a must get if you love sweet drinks!) I'm spoiled, having lived in Thailand for a short time. But, I do know there food now. When I go to Thai restaurants in the states now I give them a little test. I greet them by saying SA-WA-DEE-KRUP with my hands in a prayer position. (Women would say SA-WA-DEE-KA) if they answer back, not only is it a plus, but now they will treat you like family. And, when they seat you say KA-PUN-KA (thank you). Well Ruby Thai is the real deal, such beautiful people, direct from the land of a thousand smiles. So service and customer care is ten fold. I asked if they could make me Larb Moo even though I didn't see it on the menu. Larb Moo is a minced pork salad. I've had it a hundred different ways, so to tell you how it's done, would be a critics curse. Their way was just fine and Thai hot. My entree was a menu item of squid with black pepper. Once again it came with a smile, Thai chilies and a story of its region. Such nice people and oh the squid was tender and delicious. So act like you been there, ask for something off the menu, be adventurous and you may be pleasantly surprised. read more

We ordered Chicken Panang as an appetizer and for the life of me I can remember the other main dish, but it was ordered 'extra hot' and it was!
