When I was there, the dining room was empty except for the children of the staff who were at a large table doing homework and playing games. Not sure why it took so long for my food which was not something that they started when I ordered (house special soup, and boneless ribs) but they were worth waiting for.... tender pieces of sweet boneless pork, and a soup loaded with fresh veggies, and shrimp/chicken. Horrid. Probably the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. I ordered a bowl and a sweet tea. Cost was over $15. Chicken was tough and grizzly. Teriyaki sauce was way too soupy, too much sauce. Wrong veggies, not what I ordered. And the tiny portion of fried rice looked more like Safron rice. Yellow, no egg or veggies. Nothing. No flavor at all. read more

I found their food not so good! The taste of the Lo Mei is off. It does not taste like that I have eaten else where. I think they must use substandard products. I know that their sauce packets, especially Duck sauce are substandard. The Egg Rolls are over stuff but stuffing is NOT fresh. I have eaten better in Ocala at Yummy House and China Lee. read more

They had me at their big shiny ad that stated "we will change your eating experience, with our cooking experience". Healthy bowls! Nah, not so at all. This is nothing more than a Chinese take out space with a few tables for those that want to eat their take out there. My experience was horrendous. My hot bowl was given to me in a thin plastic bowl with only a small plastic coffee spoon to eat the soup with. When I ordered I asked if the pork was thick sliced as it was in the photo and was old it was. When it was given to me the pork was small chopped---the same that it is when used in their pork fried rice. There was no bok choy but there was a lot of over cooked cabbage including the hard bottom. Some of the vegetables were brown and somehow a piece of someone's broccoli fell into my bowl. None of them had been washed as there was the residue of dirt in the bottom of my bowl. An additional insult is that they compute up to a 20% gratuity to add on to their take out orders if you'd like. Those crispy fried noodles you always get in take out orders are .75 extra unless you purchase a big bowl. Prices are high but please pay attention to your receipt as some items on their online menu are priced differently than inside. If you're looking them up online or anywhere else be aware that they go by several different names: Tasty Bowl Kitchen, Create Tasty Bowl, Tasty Bowl and Big Bowl. read more

I just wish they gave you more than 4 items to put in it for the price they charge..also I have to agree with the person that complained about the kids running around.. I was there about 3 times before I stopped going because the kids were very rude. They ran back and forth past my table smacking the table as they went by & screaming. I'm pretty picky about my Chinese food and I'm a big believer that it's easier to find good Chinese in NJ and NY and San Fran than anywhere in the country...so stopping for Chinese in Ocala, FL didn't leave me with high hopes, but it's what Dad wanted so it was to Tasty Bowl for an adventure. The place is fairly new and very clean, but apparently (according to my Mom) it's always hot inside. I didn't think it was too bad, and we were actually in and out in about 8 or 9 minutes (it was mid afternoon so the place was empty). The guy at the register was pleasant and recognized my Mom so that was a good start. We ordered chicken lo mein, some egg rolls, pork fried rice, and chicken with broccoli. Food was ok, not as good as the places I go to back in Jersey, but certainly acceptable. The food was flavorful and not oily or greasy at all. Unfortunately, the fried rice comes with peas (I forgot to ask about the disgusting little green balls of ick) so I had to spend a few minutes picking them out, but after that the rice was fantastic. The egg rolls were just ok, a little on the small side, but they tasted ok...I could be wrong but it didn't seem like they were made on-site. I see why my parents eat here as their go-to Chinese place. Easy to get to, friendly service, food is pretty good, and my Dad is a stickler for a CLEAN Chinese place. Don't go this restaurant, so dirty! I ordered lunch special, just as any other chinese place. What bugged me is making of wonton soup. It doesn't look like much from the outside. But the food is amazing. Fresh. Flavorful, and plentiful. I am a combat vet , and lost friends over the years. Many of us have been asked, what to do to honor those who have gave all. The answer is exemplified in this place. Immigrants who come to the US to be Americans, to work hard, make good things, and live the American dream. I see this lady running back and forth hauling ass with a smile. Is there any Chinese restaurant in Ocala that's real good. I had the Mongolian Beef and it was just ok. Meat was chewy but had a little flavor. My husband hD the Beef Lo Mein. Meat had no flavor and was super chewy. The pork egg rolls were the best part of the meal. The fried noodles were stale. The fortune cookie was pretty fresh. Very clean dining area. Friendly employees. I had the pork soup bowl with veggies and udon noodles. It was delicious and filling. The only thing lacking was fresh condiments instead of the usual packets of generic soy, duck, mustard and hot sauces. My wife had a rice bowl with chicken, veggies and Szechaun sauce. Again a large bowl and very tasty. Next time I'll order it to go or bring my own condiments and enhance it the way I like. Prices are very reasonable and service was attentive. Ordered Mother's Day dinner from the Tasty Bowl. The noodle soup, with shrimp, bok choy, snow peas and baby corn, with Odon noodles was to die for. The ribs w/bone were meaty and delicious. The main dishes and the house fried rice were delicious. I have eaten Chinese food in New York, South Florida and Hong Kong. My mom and I had been wanting to try this place since they opened but just now got around to it and we are so glad we did. The food was excellent. The vegetables were fresh and the the food was very flavorful. I got the lunch combo because I wanted the sides. My mother got the lo mein and it was very "tasty". Well not off to a good start. Gen Tsao chicken was very dry, as in overdone,not much sauce, and the fried rice didn't appear to be regular fried rice. Just looked like yellow rice. Live on this side of town. Hungry - line for a sandwich from the Publix deli was ridiculous so I walked down the plaza to see what else I could get for lunch. I am a fan of Wok-N-Roll in the Churchill Square Plaza but decided to give this place a try. Place appeared clean, friendly staff. I was bothered by the small child who clearly belonged to staff. She kept going to the condiments counter and touching things which in my opinion was not sanitary. Ordered my usual - shrimp and broccoli and asked for the garlic sauce instead of brown sauce. Meal came with plain fried rice, cheese wontons and a "salad." Good wontons, fried rice was boring - just yellow rice with no carrots, peas, etc. The shrimp and broccoli aren't as flavorful as Wok-N-Roll's dish. The salad wasn't a salad - just a pile of white iceberg lettuce leaves which was insulting. I don't like paying for stuff that isn't appetizing. I am a believer if salad is put on a menu for a dish restaurant owners should spend extra money and offer real greens to customers. If all a restaurant has to offer is white pieces of hard lettuce then take it off the menu. But glad I tried the place - I was curious and now it's out of my system and I don't feel the need to eat here again. read more

They have their 3 kids running around the restaurant. They were running, screaming and even crying at the top of their lungs while I wanted to eat my dinner in peace and quiet. It was a complete zoo and the parents did absolutely nothing to stop them. Who likes kids screaming and crying on a plane? Well, this was worse as the kids were running and brushing by the paying customers and the parents or owners of the store could care less about quieting them down once the got money, it was too bad, so sad. Annoying wasn't even the word for it. It was like nails on the chalkboard. These parents need to take control, or better yet, get a babysitter, or teach these wild children some manners.
