I met someone here for lunch recently and was quite surprised. The location is in s strip mall and not a place you would stumble upon. The interior seemed a little old. Upon sitting down, the waitress who I felt may have been an owner came over with menus, took our drink orders and then brought us bowls of chicken soup. The broth was one of the most flavorful broths I have had in a soup in quite some time. There was a decent amount of chicken and some pieces of vegetable (cabbage or bok choy perhaps?) I had the chicken massaman curry which came with rice, a dumpling and a small salad. I was asked how spicy I wanted it 1-5. I got a 3 and it had a kick on the first bite but was smoother as I continued. For a lunch size, it was quite plentiful and delicious. I will definitely be visiting again! read more

Lunch was great here today. Glad to get a chance to revisit after a few years. The chef did not skimp on the tofu which was nice and crispy as was the veggies-broccoli carrots, scallions, mushrooms. I got heat level two which was just hot enough. I'm no dare devil! The sushi was nice and fresh and the wasabi had the kick that I like. They got it right this weekend. It's is always a joy to go to Sabaidee! This time, I decided to order something different. As my appetizer, I ordered the eel and tuna nigiri. The tuna was good, but the eel was excellent! It was silky in the middle and crispy in the edges. For my entree I had the Thai Fried Rice with Tofu. It was very well seasoned and didn't need any soy sauce. The tofu was not as firm as I thought it would be, but it was still good. The portion size was great and ended up being two meals. As always, the service and ambiance were great. I visited recently mid week and was disappointed despite all the great reviews. They only were moderately busy (3-5 tables seated) and when I arrived to place an order to go yet the host/server was standoffish and rude. There was no greeting or even a menu handed to me when I was eventually acknowledged. Perhaps it was a bad day but a simple "Hello, I'll be right with you" costs you nothing. If I hadn't driven 20 mins just to try this place I would have left then but I persisted against my better judgement. The experience didn't improve from there. The same host barely acknowledged anyone coming through the door and worked as if she would have rather been anywhere else in the world. She took no care to ensure the order or arrivals was observed and seemingly moved from task to task at her own pace. If this was all due to a lack of staffing then I truly do empathize as a former waitress in a smaller establishment but again, first impressions go a long way. The food was just ok. I like the interior decoration they have, there is a gazebo inside the restaurant, they really spend a lot of effort in interior design to make it unique. Spicy beef larb salad. Disgusting. Do not order. The "beef" did not taste like beef at all. It was boiled beef with no flavor. There were absolutely no laab seasonings in the dish other than the few remnants of roughly grounded rice speckles. As a person of South East Asian descent, this was an absolute disgrace to a dish that is loved by many SEA's. Ordered online for takeout. One item wasn't available so an employee called to ask me if I wanted something else. That was nice and surprising since so often I'm not made aware of things like that until I go to pick up an order. The best part of the meal was the spring rolls. They were crispy and didn't taste greasy, but that's all they had going for them. The broccoli delight was advertised to be in a brown sauce. The brown sauce it was in was a very sweet brown liquid, not what I'd call a sauce. As a result, the chicken and vegetables were saturated in a sweet flavor with nothing sticking to them. The fried rice contained burned eggs which I picked out. The rice was interesting on first bite but after a few bites, it too was very sweet. I wasn't expecting the food to be so sweet! I probably won't go back soon because I don't want a repeat of eating sweet food. I'll let time pass before I try again since I expected better considering all the positive reviews. read more

I wish there was an option for no stars and the opportunity to warn potential patrons to run!! From the service to the food it's all rancid!!! When we told our service she refused to remake our dishes or offer us a refund on inedible food. The server was incredibly rude and judgmental to not just my party but others in the restaurant as well. You are better off eating a frozen dinner that you leave out in the sun for several days in a vat of spoiled milk and chicken poop then wasting your time or money eating here. read more

Still best Thai food I have had, and I love PB, Jenny,Peter, and the whole crew. The customer service has gone down with decision not to modify menue items at customer request. I LOVE MOST DISHES, but do not care for the texture of choped chicken in many. I prefer non processed or fried. The will not make this concession. I guess they have enough bussiness that they do not have to cater to regulars. For now Ill get the stuff that is great and look for a resteraunt that cares a little more... or not. The food was not good. Their beef is boiled, and there is little taste to the dishes. I informed the waitress that the food wasn't good, and she asked me if I have ever had Pad Thai before. Something changed .... I have been here a couple times in the last year and it was really good. Tonight my family and I went but it was bad. My husband had teriyaki chicken that was spicy but no flavor and dry and the rice tasted weird. I had a spicy tuna roll that was not spicy and most of it is what I think was done tuna mixed with a lot of panko or something. Maybe the chef changed or management or owners but I won't be back. A friend of min (love you Adjeiley!!) recommended me and another friend meet at the Sabaidee in Kannapolis/Concord, and I loved it! I recently moved to Lexington, so I was happy to find out there was another Sabaidee in Salisbury (20 minutes versus 35), and I've been there twice with another friend of mine (love you too, Shannon!). The first time there, I ordered the orange chicken, the dish I usually order, and I think it was actually better than the Concord location's, although both of them do a wonderful job with it. The second time I got the Teriyaki chicken, and it was the bomb!! The service has been extremely cheerful and helpful both times, and I tried a Mojito for the first time yesterday and it was amazing. Next on my list, I'll be trying the Pineapple Fried Rice and the sushi (never had sushi before, but I figured what better place to try it then here?). This weekend was very disappointing to me, so it was nice to have a wonderful lunch on Sunday at a restaurant I plan on going back to again and again and again. Thank you, Sabaidee! The most impressive part of this business is that from the outside, it looks like a tiny little strip mall restaurant but once you walk inside, you see that it is large and spacious and beautifully decorated. There are lots of different seating options such as romantic couples tables with large comfortable orange chairs, wooden pergolas over tables, sheer fabric draped over group tables. This restaurant is a perfect example of taking something basic and making it into something gorgeous! They have a big menu with sushi and Thai food. They have all of the classic dishes that you see in any American Japanese or Thai restaurant. Of my group of three, two of us ordered sushi and we're very pleased as it was fresh, vibrant and flavorful. The rolls were large and the perfect meal size for lunch. Our other friend ordered Pad Thai and we all agreed it was very disappointing. It literally tasted like Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce on noodles. When she told our server, she did nothing about it.... so that was a bummer. Ordered was the Thai platter which is a sample platter. Comes with egg rolls, chicken satay, crab Rangoon, and pot stickers. Along with some dipping sauces. Everything was tasty. Sushi order was the Salisbury and the rainbow, both fresh and tasty. Not shown was an order of the pineapple fried rice with beef as the protein, which was delicious. Wow, this place was AMAZING! My husband and I went for a late lunch. I got a veggie Thai dish for $7 which came with soup, salad, rice and a spring roll. Absolutely yummy, large portion and such a value. My husband got a bento box for $10 with sushi and drunken noodle which also came with soup and salad. He said his was yummy too! What an unexpectedly great spot. Partner and I were just put for a drive and ended up using Yelp to find lunch. I had the yellow curry with vegetables at 4 out of 5 spicy. Perfect medium heat with great depth of flavor. Partner had basil tofu and while not spicy, the flavors were awesome. Lots of basil in the sauce. Potstickers were tasty, but probably not housemade. Can't really stop raving about this place it pretty much blew away my expectations! I had pretty low expectations since there aren't a lot of asian places in Salisbury and this location isn't exactly the best #sketch. But it absolutely delivers in the taste department! We got the following: - Large Tom Yum soup $6 that is good to share for 3-4 people. Incredibly flavorful and it's been a while since I've had tom yum but it reminded of the last time I had a delicious one in San Diego. We got mild I think for the spice level and it was perfect with the perfect mix of sour, spice, and savoriness. - I got the Panang Curry $9 which was a good portion of curry and rice. The curry was not watery or too sweet and was exactly how it should taste. It also came with a small salad (not a fan of the dressing so I didn't eat) and 2 panfried dumplings (super yummy!) - Pad See Ew and Pad Thai medium spice and both were as expected hitting the spot with their flavor. The veggies in the pad see ew I felt could have been softer as they were pretty tough but nothing too bad. Portion size is great and could last you 1.5 meals or 2 if you don't eat too muh. Highly recommend to come here during the lunch special or come towards the latter end or early as it gets pretty crowded right in the smack of noon when people come rushing here.
