    Sushi combo

Asian Grill is STILL going strong - they survived the COVID, and honestly, I think they've come out better! Part of why I logged on to update this is that I went outside my comfort zone and ordered the Peking Shrimp with Walnuts and Plum Sauce. It is AMAZING. Seriously. I was blown away. It's clearly a star that I'm sure most people overlook, so you should give it a shot. Other than that, the last few take out orders I've placed have been good minus the dumplings (the gyoza here are just inedible, really - even my dumpling obsessed 6 year old described these as "super yuck"). I got some sushi and a sweet potato roll - they ended up being very good. The white tuna in particular was very fresh. The beef yaki udon is one of my favorite dishes - lots of flavor and the noodles are always well cooked. For an Asian fusion place, you really can't get a better variety of stuff - but my experience is that the menu quality overall is hit or miss based on certain dishes given how many options are available. So, read through the reviews and see how different items fare. I'm telling you, that plum shrimp is TO DIE FOR and you should really try it!

    Crispy Spicy Salmon Roll

I had a deep fried style sushi roll w/ mined salmon inside & spicy sauce on top. My box came w/ six pieces of sushi, which was just enough for me(i had more food on the side). I would definitely recommend this meal & this restaurant. They serve many options, such as Thai food, Japanese food, & Chinese food.

I ordered General Tso Chicken Lunch Special - 7.75 Shrimp chow mein - $7.50 Lunch Sushi 2 roll - $8.75 First off tell my why my overall price was $30 when I've ordered this before and it was $27. The lady proceeded to tell me that the price was correct despite me telling her, I've ordered this entire meal before and there were no price changes. Now for the food. It was sad, first off all. The fried rice lacked any flavor. The general tsos chicken was soggy. And last but not least THE CHOW MEIN. Like I said, we've ordered this entire meal before and not to mention if you look up on Google Chow Mein is a noodle dish. Tell me why they gave us watered down cabbage with no flavor and called it chow mein. I proceeded to call them afterwards to tell them this is not what we ordered and she went on to tell me that this is what Chow Mein is! Like I said. WE'VE HAD THIS ENTIRE ORDER BEFORE and we had noodles last time because that's what chow mein is! Used to love going to this place for not only the taste, quality, and prices, but after this visit, they can keep all of it.

Great service, great food, win win. My go to spot for Chinese food and Sushi. I couldn't decide between sushi and beef with broccoli so I got both and they were amazing as always. Highly recommend this spot.

Simply the best! Always fresh and delicious! Well priced and generous portions! This family room business is one of my favorites! I've been coming here for years. I'll even after I moved away and would come visit in the area would make sure to come by because it was so good! We have now moved back and I bypass several other places closer to my home just to come back and eat here! This family run business is wonderful friendly and as you can see all the signs other people in the nearby area also have voted them their top choice. You won't go wrong with anything you order. I highly recommend this place and will keep coming back for years to come.!

    Beef Pho with Tripe

Always on the lookout for new restaurants, The wife and I decided to check out the Asian Grill, when shopping at Harris Teeter West Ashley Circle Center. We started with fresh spring rolls, which were your typical roll containing Shrimp, cucumber, pickled carrots, cilantro, and other spring mixes. The key to a good spring roll dish is the sauce since most spring rolls themselves are pretty much the same. In the case of Asian Grill, I give the hoisin sauce with small bits of peanuts a thumbs up. The next was a seaweed salad, which was a bit underwhelming as the taste was fishier than I like it. Last was the Pho which is a bit hard for me to judge because my wife did not know what she was ordering and got beef Pho with Tripe (cows stomach lining). Now I am typically a person who eats almost anything put in front of me, but I can't stand tripe. So while I was not thrilled with the full dish itself, I thought the beef broth was pretty good. This restaurant is not different than other similar restaurants, I would not go out of my way to eat here again. However, I can see us trying again if we happened to be in this shopping plaza.

The hubs and I have ordered from Asian Grill a few times. I can only speak of the delivery, and so far DoorDash has done well. A few egg rolls were forgotten an order ago, but it's nothing to rage about. My go to is sweet and sour chicken. The batter is a bit thick, and can be soggy due to condensation trapped in the container for delivery. On a previous order the cuts of chicken were dry and hard. However, this time the chicken was tender, and moist with freshly fried batter. To gain back the crisp factor throw it in the air fryer or oven. It was accompanied with the red dipping sauce. The hubs gravitated towards the orange chicken which was nicely flavored. No crisp factor, but good chucks of meat. The fried rice, steamed dumpling, crab Rangoon, and eggs rolls were fine. I did enjoy the Thai soup when it was offered on the menu. The coconut base was creamy with thinly sliced chicken, filled with mushroom, and snow peas. Hopefully, they bring that one back :) Definitely will order here again!!! Great portion sizes for reasonable prices especially during this time of inflation.

It is totally worth the drive from Williamsburg to come here for takeout! Their sushi lunch is fabulous. Their customer service, food packaging to go, and quality of food is awesome! Our new favorite place for takeout!

We arrived when it wasn't busy and were told there would be a 5-10 minute wait. After about five minutes, I asked about the delay after noticing staff and the manager chatting instead of seating guests. We were then seated, but waited another 10 minutes while multiple servers passed by without acknowledging us or taking our order. We ultimately decided to leave, and the manager didn't appear concerned or attempt to address the situation. It's mostly been hibachi dinners, but also mix in Happy Hour visits and last year, a visit for Newport News Restaurant Week. Let's see how this one turned out. When we walked inside, they had a nice crowd for lunch. Again, it was a holiday. We were able to be seated quickly and did take some time looking at the menu. Staff was busy and the waitress did take a minute to come to our table, but it really wasn't a rush on our day off. For my meal, I selected gyoza for appetizers and their stir-fried bento box with beef as the protein with hot spice. Everything that was cooked very well. The gyoza was full of flavor along with enough dipping sauce to help with each taste. The bento box was really good. There was enough protein and veggies included and the hot spice wasn't that spicy on the palate at all. A nice lunch that kept us full. Hayashi did deliver for the day. You know we'll be back :)
