The lady called Jojo is right..the protein in the meal is reduced..I think that the plate had 5 tiny scallops and other plate I had 2 pcs of thin chicken. If you look at their menu on this page with prices they are wrong. I got 2 lunches at 11.95 each ..my bill was 45.00. The manager did not care to discuss the prices on menu. Also, I should have checked meals. The man that took my order said it included Egg roll with each. We got one to share. I did carry out. I have gone there for years but its changed. Also I ordered number 2 spice and the man that took order said that was barely any spice I said ok cause we do not want spicy. We could hardly eat it. Have they changed owners. Wow!! I am so glad I found this place. You walk in and you are able to wash your hands in a little sink they have setup. The service was quick! The waitress gave recommendations on popular dishes & appetizers. Got the soup with the lemongrass and chicken. Got the red curry and pad Thai. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The food hasn't changed in over 25 years. Same chef/owner. The sauces are very savory. I had the Pad Kee Mao with fried tofu spice level 2 out of 4. I will get a 3 next time. It was very good. I only wish the fried tofu was crunchier. Their fried egg rolls are more like fried spring rolls, which I already knew, and very good. The sauce for the fried egg rolls is ok, not the best, but still good. The service was outstanding and the food came very quickly. The Asian decor was really nice to add to the ambiance. read more

Awful! The calamari was rubbery and the breading on the outside was soft, not fried crisp. It arrived at the table COLD. The entrees lacked flavor. Ummm....good Lord we wanted to like this place!! My wife, our son and I were hoping we could find some good Thai food in Spartanburg S Carolina, but we didn't. We ordered the "fried" calamari for an appetizer. It was not fried, no way....no oil, no crunch, no flavor, no WAY! Disgusting...weird even, looked baked...I sent it back!! We also ordered Pad Thai and a seafood fried rice that were completely uneventful and boring!! The Pad Thai noodles were thin and overcooked and there was no "crab" in the seafood fried rice.... We also ordered some chicken wings....now full disclosure, my wife is an amazing chef and cooks some BOMB chicken wings. I will admit I'm a little biased and knowledgeable with great wings being regularly prepared and served at home, BUT... these were absolutely TERRIBLE!! Supposedly fresh then marinated and lastly fried.... I don't think so! Some pre-prepared frozen chicken wings dropped in a fryer and served....GROSS!! Service was okay....really!! I started joking with my family that the waitress "hated me" after I sent back the disgusting calamari and she kinda quit coming around, but I will still say the service was acceptable. She was very polite and very knowledgeable about the menu. Ambiance was nice. Definitely a typical Thai looking restaurant but exceptionally CLEAN!!! I am very particular about cleanliness especially when it comes to a restaurant and even more so, the restrooms in restaurants!! I was sad to see 2 negative reviews both 4 months ago, presumably they dined together as they both complained of the calamari. In the interest of full disclosure I'll say I've never tried their calamari so for that particular item I obviously can not give an opinion. I've been a regular for years until I moved from SC to FL last August. I always get the same dish every single visit: #42 on the menu. I think it's called Gang Dang. It's their classic Red Curry sauce which I have shrimp added to it and NO stars or maybe just 1 star (this is a reference to their spice level). Why do I always get the same dish without changing things up? Well I've found a dish I live and have loved for many years. So honestly, I can ONLY give a review on the Gang Dang, which has always been awesome. The staff are always so sweet, so nice, so humble. This IS indeed authentic Thai food although the negative reviewer felt the need to point out they were from LA. So??? Is that some veiled attempt to paint Southern tastes in food somehow less authentic because we DON'T live in LA? In any event, every restaurant can have an off day but my entire extended family loves Thai Taste. There are 2 other Thai restaurants in the Spartanburg area that I know of but I've never tried them. I've been a loyal fan of Thai Taste for years. As to the ambiance...it's not Upscale but casual chic may best describe it. Having been to Thailand twice in my US Navy days, I appreciate their exquisitely beautiful Thai art and decorations. It's very reasonably priced. A single person could spend $20, which includes a tip. I look forward to dining there again upon my next visit back to SC. read more

As usual the food is somewhat good, depending on who's cooking and how they're feeling most of the time the food is good but now I notice that they're charge you 3% when you use your debit/ credit card they also charge you for takeout so from now on I'll make sure I have cash and to eat in. I don't know if anybody noticed but they do charge you to take out or to go I don't think that's OK, but that's their policy read more

New to town and have been looking for a good Thai place for some time. Thai Taste is the best option for Thai in Spartanburg - but overall don't expect to be blown away! Small portion sizes, more expensive comparatively to other Thai restaurants, flavor in food is there but overall ok. The first time I came here, I was heartbroken - because I thought this place would be the one! It took a while to get seated, I guess the hostess was in the back but the counter girl was walking back and forth but never said anything to us. Once we got seated, while ordering I asked if the Pad See Ew (veggie with egg) option came with a lot of vegetables or should I just get the tofu option - she said the veggie option had a lot of vegetables. My Pad See Ew came out - there was only broccoli. No other veggies, and no egg. I was sad (I love veggies) The sauce was good, but couldn't get over the lack of veggies and honestly the size. Best yet - I got to the counter to pay and my total was $14!!? I decided to wait to do my review and go a second time. Got seated very quickly and the waitress was so sweet! I ordered a Tofu Pad Woon Sen - so many veggies! (I now think the first experience with lack of veggies was a misunderstanding) It was good. I got a Thai Coffee to go and that was a good ratio between coffee and creamer. Can't remember what my total for the coffee and pad woon sen was but it was under $14 - so not sure what happened there. Incredible food!!! Just incredible! It was neat to find this place. I was gonna say little place, but it isn't really little. From the outside it was pretty hard to get an idea of how big it is, but inside they have tons of seats. Love how some of the staff were dressed in traditional Thai attire. It was a breath of fresh air to see folks being proud to flaunt their culture. Ordered a variety of dishes and being that I have lots of Thai friends and have eaten in their homes many times, I can say the food here really hit a soft spot in my belly. Very fresh and well made... I wished their chili in fish sauce was better quality. I also felt their red snapper dish was a bit on the sweeter side. But taking into account the variety we ordered, we can't expect everything to be perfect to "us", since everybody's taste buds are different. Therefore I can still stand by my opinion that what they do here is a blessing for that area... and I will most likely return when I'm passing through again. Good stuff!!!! Easily my favorite Thai place in the upstate. Wide variety of wonderful choices at a very reasonable price. There were plenty for choices even when I was seeking a vegetarian, gluten free option for a visiting companion. The curry options also expand outside of the red/green options that I usually see as the sum total of Thai curry offered elsewhere. If you want more a Laos style level of spice, they only go up to 4, so ask for the spice tray to kick it up as many notches you desire. read more

YES! I get so sick of those "confused Asian" menus... won ton is not Thai, Pho is not Thai... so when I saw that on other menus and not here I had to come. Signs were good when people are waiting for the doors to open and to go orders are already placed before the first seating. The menu is clean and easy to read! Service is very fast for lunch service. Tom Kha soup was delicious and hot (but maybe a bit salty)! I ordered the chicken Laab, something I like to judge a place on and also said "I like it obscenely hot"... not only was it perfect goodness, it was HOT as I asked for. I appreciate it when they actually listen. I finished with some spring rolls to cool things down and they are a no frills item. Maybe I had the "safe" items as someone says... but if that's what you are going for, then you should be ok. I asked for a Thai Coffee to go... was WAY to sweet for me so I ended up tossing it. Thai Taste is good when you are craving Thai food. At other Thai restaurants I always order the pad thai and pad see ew. But, at Thai Taste these dishes are lacking in flavor. However, the best dishes they have in my opinion are the House Noodles (beef or chicken), Fried rice, duck, and curry. I think my favorite is their House Noodles though.
