You place your order at the front counter, even if you're eating in the restaurant, and seat yourself. We got the: - Drunken Noodles with Pork: Delicious! The sauce was the right level of sweet with a subtle spiciness. I'm used to wider rice noodles in this dish, but these noodles still had a good mouth feel. Good amount of well-cooked veggies (bell pepper, carrot, onion). - Stir Fry Eggplant with Tofu: Overall, a good dish with lots of tofu plus veggies and a sweet sauce. I prefer my eggplant to be a bit softer, but this was fine. Comes with white rice; I chose to upgrade to fried rice, but would not do this again (it just felt like rice with a hint of soy sauce). - Thai Iced Tea: Loved this! The tea flavor was super strong and not overwhelmingly sweet. Service was super fast, surprisingly so. Ambiance is really nice, lots of seating available. Monsoon Noodle House has really wonderful service. Everyone was friendly and on top of things, which made the experience feel warm and welcoming. We ordered the Pad Thai and a couple of their specials. The dishes were decent, not the most memorable Pad Thai we've had, but still satisfying and honestly pretty solid for Spartanburg. Loved this place! Was a little difficult to find by following GPS since it's between buildings, though the sign is obvious. I enjoyed the concept of it being like a sit down restaurant, except you order first, sit where you'd like, and they bring out your food as it's ready. There was minimal interaction required, yet service was quick and accurate. The server was able to answer my questions and help me decide on a dish. Yikes first time visit and I don't plan on going back. It's tucked in a little plaza. Super cute when you enter and nice inside. I had never been and I was looking at the menu. When I went to place it the guy taking my order was super rude. Honestly I felt like he hated his job the was he was short , quick to respond and not personable at all. After ordering the food came out super fast. The boba tea was more like a slushy. Not as good as I hoped. The salad was not good nor the dressing. I enjoyed the crab Rangoon most of anything. The staff is amazing and it's a lovely place and there are a lot of cultural options with a lot of fusion, rather than authenticity. Every time I end up there I keep thinking "this time, I'm going to find something amazing." It's been more misses than hits and the hits have not been memorable enough to pull me back. read more

SUCH fast service and the food is unreal good. We got the spring rolls, ramen, kids meal, etc. and every single dish is fantastic. The mango boba is to die for! I've dined at Monsoon Noodle House probably more times than any other restaurant during my time in Spartanburg, and I am convinced that it is one of the best. Monsoon's menu is fairly large. There's a ton of items that are... well quite frankly, palatable without being too exotic because that's what the local community demands. That said, all of the food is very flavorful, and you have the option to add extra spice as needed. I like getting the jalapeño chicken. In fact, that dish is so great, I think I have to go at least one more time before I leave Spartanburg. There's a wide variety of items on this menu, and I haven't loved everything that I've tried. That said, I have found every single dish very flavorful and of reasonably good value. Make no mistake, Monsoon is not worth going out of your way to try, but it's one of the best restaurants in Downtown Spartanburg. read more

If I could rate it higher, I absolutely would! The flavor profile on all of their dishes is exceptional!! The food, the service, and the seating are all great. At this point, it's probably considered a problem but we usually go there every week for our dose of Tom Kha soup, Spring Rolls, Green Beans, and whatever else we are feeling that week. My daughter and I had lunch here today. Sorry, although I posted a receipt for my portion, my pictures disappeared! My daughter had the Mongolian stir fry and I had the Black Pepper steak! We shared an order of two egg rolls! The procedure to eat here is walk up to the register and look at the menu board. Then order and pay! Take a seat and the food will be brought to your table; any one you choose! Simple! Our lunches were brought out faster than a speeding bullet! Not Kidding at all! I've never seen anything like it anywhere! Unfortunately, both my daughter and myself feel like this was a three star dining experience. Our egg rolls were hot on the outside and cold on the inside!Our entrees were well prepared. My biggest reservation about all of this was that my plate was a bit lacking with the blackened pepper steak! Got a lot of white rice that was good though. Came back here for a few work lunches awhile back, and wow have they gotten things together since I've last been there. Waiters and staff are all helpful and check on you, the curry (and salad rolls, as well as the honey walnut chicken) was incredible, and the portions were just the cherry on top. This has now become one of my go-to places in Spartanburg for my Asian food fixes. read more

We love this restaurant. We've been coming here for years. Some of the best Pho in the area. The restaurant is lovely and inviting. The servers are usually very friendly but occasionally some of the male servers are having an off day. It's a hit and miss they should work on. The food is always wonderful, it's not actually authentic, due to the kitchen staff, but it's a wonderful place. The only item on the menu that I don't recommend is the green curry as it's way too watery but tastes delightful. If you are in the downtown area please check this gem out! read more

Ordered the Vietnamese Pho and after I ordered it I thought to myself I should of ordered something else but I was already craving Pho and since the place we went to right before Monsoon was closed since it was Sunday. It was decent, probably not as good as a Pho place's Pho but it was good for being a non Vietnamese restaurant. I got the house combination which had shrimp, chicken and beef. The broth was savory and I enjoyed it. My gf got the dumpling noodle soup with tofu. It was just okay. The noodles clumped together some so it was hard to get the right serving on the chopsticks. It had a lot of vegetables in it like broccoli, carrots, green beans, peas and some others. It was okay to me but my gf liked it. Also there were only 3 dumplings total in the soup which we thought was a little odd and was hoping for a few more since it was a Dumpling soup. The decor and lights inside are pretty cool and food came out in decent timing. It was busy and we had the option to sit inside or outside on the street since it was blocked off. We had dinner there and ordered PHAD THAI SHRIMP, Chicken with vegetables and pot stickers. All these dishes were so tasty and flavorful. The sauces they cook it with are so amazingly delicious! We ordered and paid at the counter and then the server brought over the dishes in minutes. Wow talk about fast efficient service. The only comment I would like to mention is that the server who brought over the food didn't give us plates and we had to ask for plates and unfortunately no smiles from the server. It just makes a huge difference when customers receive service with a welcoming friendly smile. Just a good reminder... I do recommend this restaurant!! The food is good here. My biggest complaint is that you have to purchase everything separately, so the bill gets pretty steep very quickly. And they won't let you just do an upcharge to maybe add fried rice to your golden chicken. I have to spend 12 dollars on each item. read more

This spot is always my go-to for teriyaki chicken! It is the absolute best I have found in the entire upstate area. They have the most tastiest sauce and they definitely cover their chicken in it adequately. I also love the bubble teas! Every time i've gone I've had no problem with ordering or with any of the staff. I always get a good sized portion and often times I can't even finish the meal but end up taking the rest home ! Sometimes they do have their chicken pieces a little too big for my liking but that's my opinion. The place itself is very nice and I like the sitting arrangements they have ! Just got takeout from here. Service was super quick and professional. Got the golden honey chicken and the general chicken, swapped both with fried rice instead of white rice and added a side of lo mein. The lo mein was really good and for a side order it was worth the price. The fried rice is extremely dry, literally no flavor at all. The chicken is drenched in this strong sauce, almost like a syrup but apparently is the most popular. Worth going back but won't be getting those again. read more

One in my party is gluten free- she ended up ordering pad thai without the soy sauce because the black pepper steak and sauce served with the salmon entree were glutenous. -spring rolls came out fast, seems like they were doubled wrapped in rice paper and filled with loads of noodles -there wasn't much flavor to them if not using the dipping sauce -drunken noodles were described as very good, later described as a 10/10 and the best drunken noodles ever -house noodles had a sweeter flavor -pad thai, while initially ordered without sauce, arrived to the table looking unimpressive compared to the other dishes, and also lacking the shrimp ordered. The shrimp was added to the dish, and packets of gluten free soy sauce were brought out upon request. Honestly, they are a little pricey. The food is usually pretty good when you get it. Its a wait most of the time even if theres only 1 other table. Its dark inside and could use more lighting. The real issue is the staff. Theres a manager who is almost always in front, hes hateful. He will be sarcastic with you, talk down to you make you wait for a drink or never give it to you. He acts like he wishes we would stop eating there. I have had other friends tell me they cant stand him or his attitude, either. I see in other reviews here people feel like the staff is bothered- its because they are. Good food - not great. Terrible help. I love soup. I love to make it, and I love to eat it. Several people had recommended Monsoon Noodle House, and after the very bad taste that Groucho's left in my mouth, I decided to give MNH a try. I ordered, for delivery, via Hub City Delivery. I ordered the fried Shanghai spring rolls, the wonton soup, the Thai iced tea, and the wonton noodle soup, which I saved for the next day. I can't think of a single negative syllable to say/write. Everything was absolutely spot on and delicious. The spring rolls were just the right amount of crispy, and the dipping sauce was perfection; a fantastic balance between sweet and heat. The wonton soup offered a broth with flavor and clarity unlike any other wonton soup I've had in Spartanburg. If I had a complaint, it would be that there were only two wontons in there, but Monsoon Noodle House offers BIG wontons, and the truth is that I probably couldn't have eaten another one in that sitting. The restraint in using salt was very much appreciated. I have always loved Thai iced tea, and what I got from MNH was superb. I loved every drop of it; I loved it so much that I was trying to figure out if I could lick the cup to get more. Yes, it was that good. The wonton noodle soup left me almost speechless. The broth was hot and spicy without being overbearing. The veggies were crisp and the chicken sliced thin; the noodles were perfect, and the wontons were huge and tasty. I make delicious soups. There is no way I can match this, let alone beat it. Some other reviews think that the food is a bit over-priced, and with this I do agree. They could stand to dial that back a notch. Food comes out pretty quickly. I usually come with large groups around dinner and there is always seating. Thai Tea and Thai Coffee both hit the spot when I ordered. The pho broth is very flavorful - I was pleasantly surprised. I've gotten the tofu with chicken broth three times now and it's been consistently yummy. I always forget the name - it's a wide noodle dish stir fried with veggies - I want to call it Chow Fun but I know that isn't the right name. It's #2 under specialties, is probably my favorite dish!
