I was incredibly disappointed with my recent visit to Thai Villa! I have been there two other times and been happy with the food and the service. Not this time! On Wednesday or server was mostly unattentive, and when paying attention, rude. The food was inedible. I think the lowest point in the meal was the shrimp wonton soup ordered by my date. The shrimp had clearly gone bad as evidenced by her gag as she tried to eat the first one. The whole thing smelled like a fishy mess. Our server helpfully suggested that we box it up and take it home. We declined. The rest of the food was bad, but not life threatenin. I brought it home and tried to pawn it off on others, with no luck, getting ready to throw it out. Of course we were charged for the rotten shrimp. Our bill for lunch for two was well over $100. Best place to eat in Nipomo! Thai villa saved me multiple times from starvation. Who wants to drive all the way to Santa Maria or Arroyo for something decent to eat? Not I. The prices here are restaurant style. Like you paying $20 for an entree and rice. The pad kra pao is excellent with fried tofu. The basil is fresh and adds an herbal punch to the dish. The sauce is light and not too sweet. The pad thai is yummy! I wish there were more peanuts. If you order it with shrimp, then only give you 3-4 of them but they are COLOSAL! Like the size of my palm. I'm cut them up into Vite sized pieces before chowing down! The sticky mango rice is divine! You get an entire fresh mango on top. The rice is marinated in coconut milk and has a silky, creamy mouth feel. It's enough for 3-4 servings! The Thai tea is strong and sweet. There is a non-dairy option available. I've also had the panang curry which was good as well. The broth was thick, creamy and coconutty. The shrimp satay is delicious! The shrimp are perfectly grilled and the accompanying salad is not just for decoration! It's actually delicious! Whatever dressing the salad is tossed in makes eating salad enjoyable! My only gripe with the place is the oil! There's so much oil left at the bottom and on my lips. I might as well be wearing lip gloss! Will come back soon! read more

What a gem in nipomo! The food was 10/10 & service was 12/10! You can tell they all get along and work well together! We were dining late and wanted dessert so said we could take it to go but they insisted on us having it there and that they were not in a rush to close. We will definitely be back! read more

We walked in and had no idea what to order. Fortunately, the owner came over and helped us out. He helped us choose a variety of dishes to give us a sampling of what this restaurant had to offer. The soup was outstanding. It was a coconut shrimp soup. Very very good. We then went to the barbecue chicken and also had pad, Thai noodles. My favorite dish was the coconut soup. I have always enjoyed Thai Villa and thought it was one of the best Thai restaurants around and would come from Arroyo Grande to Nipomo just to get it ....As a former food critic, I cannot lie - TONIGHT WAS TRULY AWFUL! SO disappointing and a waste of money, I could not even eat it .... First, I ordered chicken potstickers - they tasted like something bought in the frozen food section of any grocery store - they were not fresh - they were hard as if they had freezer burn...AND besides, they were BURNED! Secondly, I bought Pad See Eww with chicken. I've experienced this issue before here where the chicken was so well done it was like leather. Unfortunate, that's a little common in many Thai restaurants in this area. There was hardly any sauce on this dish so the noodles were almost dry. It was tasteless and I did not take one bite where I thought "yum". Thirdly, I bought Thai Iced Tea. This is what saved my meal and why I gave it one star at least because this was good. Unfortunately, I'm going to stay away from this place for a while. I'll start with the positives: bao buns are good but not like Chinese or Vietnamese buns. The filling is similar to Vietnamese but then they fried the bun. Pad seew noodles were decent. The negatives: I called in an order and he didn't put in 1 of 2 rice bowls and missed fried tofu even though I asked detailed questions about the tofu. I didn't realize the tofu was missing until I got home so I had to go back out to get that. Once I finally got back with all the food, my family tells me that the curries we ordered aren't very good. The Red curry isn't spicy at all. The green curry looked more white than green. Rice was very clumpy. We ended up not needing that 2nd bowl of rice after all. Overall I would try it again but eat there and not do take out. And not order so many curries. read more

This food was amazing a few years ago. Tonight we ordered pad Thai with extra peanuts and spring rolls. The spring rolls seemed old and pre cooked then had the effect of steamed because they were microwaved in the to go container (not by us later, this is how they heated it to sell) these mushy cabbage rolls went straight into the trash. The pad Thai not only didn't have extra peanut- it had none and no peanut sauce at all so it was more like a vegetable and vinegar noodle. Very disappointing. Love this restaurant! Me and my boyfriend have being coming here every weekend. It is that good! As much as I love to give great reviews and support small businesses this one just doesn't measure up. We ordered for 6 people and portions were very small, like child size. The chicken was dry, few veggies were frozen reheats, and the special sauce was non existent. The only reason I would give a second star is for the coconut rice which was very tasty but it was an additional charge and can only be ordered as a side item. Bummer on this one, hope they can change it up if they continue to do business. read more

This is such a tiny place you almost miss it but be sure you don't! I had a pad thai with egg, bean sprouts and chicken. What I loved was everything was hot and fresh and it wasn't over sauced. When you over sauce it's too sweet or full of soy sauce and for me, that ruins the noodles. My husband had fried rice which was nice but I would say a four out of five. We made the horrible mistake of dining here. The food was not Thai food at all. Everything was prepackaged and tasted sweet. I would not recommend the lamb it tasted more like cake than lamb and had an awful cakey smell. The food was way too expensive and definitely not worth the price. read more

3.5 stars. The place is peaceful, with quiet jazz a pleasant and interesting choice for a Thai place, and the lunch menu is easy to follow. We each ordered the vegetable stir fry, one with salmon and one with pork. Salad and white rice are included and brown is an extra buck. Thai Villa is a hidden gem. The first time I went there I couldn't find the restaurant. Finally I did and it was well worth it. The food was great! The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars was because the waiter was slow and hardly waited on us. First he brought out our first dish but forgot we didn't have a plate or utensils. We couldn't get the waiter's attention so we got up and took our own set-ups. Still it was worth it. This is probably the reason they are seldom busy. I picked up my food and was greeted by a very nice waiter. He directed me to the desk where I was asked by a woman how I ordered. She was abrupt, I patient and rude. I got over it and left. I got home and was missing an item in my order. I was very hungry and disappointed and called in for a refund. I was told that she did not know how to do that since I ordered via DoorDash. I have no DoorDash account and ordered by clicking on their website. I clicked the link from my order receipt and was informed to call the restaurant. Needless to say I have not received my refund, no apologies and arise experience. In addition the food was terrible. We normally order at a place in downtown AG but they are closed on Mondays. This food was more expensive, very bland and with the missing item a horrible experience with rude staff, who appeared to be in charge and possibly the owner. Our first time in Pismo and as always I needed my Thai food! With this place being a 4 Star I figured it would be good place. We had potstickers, Pad prik khing and stir fry vegetables and rice. 2 Main entrees were good, potstickers were just OK. Service could have been better. I feel as if the waiter was to busy trying to clean up before her shift ends so she can leave instead of even comin by to ask if we needed anything . I get it you're closing in 30 minutes. Second time having dinner here last night. We were going to go to North China but it was closed because it was New Years. Thank God this place was open! We got the Tom Kha with tofu for an appetizer and there was ample amount for the five of us. I thought about getting the papaya salad as well (got it last time and everyone loved it) but glad we didn't because we had more than enough food in the end. We shared 3 entrees between the five of us. Portions are really big here and its perfect to share. I went there ravenous and left stuffed to the gills. Shared the pumpkin curry with shrimp with my boyfriend. Got a bowl of brown rice for the table. They have all sorts of different rice here (sticky, garlic, sirarcha) which all sounded really good. We also had sautéed veggies with calamari and the sauce they use is so good! It didn't sound that appetizing when his grandma ordered it but it was bomb. We also got tea (served in individual glass mugs). I got the hot sake and the sake the use here is pretty harsh. Must be pretty cheap sake which I am not a fan of. Their coconut sake cocktail sounds really good though and wish I got that instead because I was not able to finish the hot sake. Service is good here. Two young guys working while the owner sat at one of the dining tables. Large parking lot with plenty of parking. I love the table scape and I'm pretty sure my boss has the same pillows in his house. read more
