So happy to finally get back to one of favorite places since they have recently re-opened the dining room. It's been a bit since they closed the dining room during Covid lock-down. They were take away-only. We stopped in for dinner and to relax after a wild week. The dining room was about 1/3 to 1/2 full, service was good though somewhat slow. We were in no rush so it did not bother us. It's been tough for them to get a full compliment of staff so it was one waiter, one chef, and one busser. The crowd was nice and the dining room refresh looks good. We began with the vegetable spring rolls which were served wonderfully hot and fresh. So crispy and the vegetables were tasty. We had a cocktail as well. The Mrs had chicken pad Thai with extra peanut sauce. She enjoyed the dish and said the flavors were as balanced and wonderful as she recalls from pre-Covid. I had beef rice noodles with one star spice. This was the first time I tried this dish and I am glad I did. It was so tasty and the spice was just right for me. We also got chicken fried rice to go but we tried a taste before we left and gosh it too was very good. In all, we were there just over an hour so it was not truly slow. We were winding down from a week of weeks so the pace was perfect for us. Looking forward to visiting again. My husband and I planned to come here for my pre birthday dinner. Scored parking right in front. Greeted by kind staff upon arrival and offered a booth to sit in. We started with hot sake which was strong and enough for a couple to share. I also got the lychee martini which was dry rather than the usual sweetness. So many lovely appetizers to choose from but we decided on the tom khai and tom yum soups. The mushrooms and shrimps were cooked but the scallions were still hard. The tom yum was good though. For our entrees we got roast pork pad Thai and rice. The pad Thai was my favorite as it was sweet and savory. Can't wait to come back and try more delicious dishes. read more

I went on a night that was takeout only, but I had one drink at the bar (they have liquor -- not just wine and beer). The nice bartender made a great margarita -- not too sweet like so many other places make. I ordered Tom Kha soup, fried rice with fried tofu, and spring rolls with peanut sauce (vs the sweet & sour sauce usually served alongside them). I had read online that their fried rice is incredibly good, and that led me to choose it. I tried one of the two small spring rolls in my car before I even drove off, and it was hot and fresh from the fryer. The peanut sauce was the thick kind (vs the thinner kind that's used as salad dressings for Thai green salad). Yum. When I got home and checked out my order, I did have one disappointment. Not sure why, but my soup was filled only a bit above halfway in the container. I wasn't happy about that. The rice, however, was SO good. I loved it the next day even more. I added chili crisp I had in my cupboard, and it was so fantastic I want to eat it weekly. Thaicoon has been in its spot since 1985. They recently started back in dining after a long hiatus. The prices and serving sizes are great. I think the chicken pad Thai gets a bit too sweet for me towards the end but the chicken friend rice and shrimp fried rice are delicious. Every time we go or order takeout out they never have the wontons or shrimp rolls. I am not sure why as we've tried lunch time and dinner time. Inside is not decorated over the top. They have been around for a long time and it looks the exact same from the 90s according to what my mom says. The ladies who serve are always very nice and check in often. read more

We used to dine in frequently at this place before the covid pandemic. Understandably, they only did take-out during covid, but it seems like they remained only as a take-out restaurant for years after covid ended. We finally dined in there, for the first time in years, a couple weeks ago. The menu is more expensive now. Most of the items were the same, the peanut dressing salad, the dumplings. But the Thai iced tea was a bit bland. My biggest issue however, was the crispy duck dish. It was $ 32.00. And most of it was just gristle, very little meat. The flavor was otherwise good, and the vegetables in the dish were decent. But for $32.00 there should have been much more duck meat in the dish. I left there hungry. I have been coming here for over 30 years. Everywhere I go I compare the Thai food to Thaicoon. The remodel looks amazing if you dine in, but I recently had take away again. Service is great whether you dine in or take away. It's always so delicious with generous portions and the price can't be beat. Wish I could give it 10 stars. read more

I ordered the special fried rice and the crispy duck. Both were delicious! The crispy duck was, as described, crispy and tasty. The fat was cooked away so that the skin was crispy and tasty. The fried rice had gobs of chicken, shrimp, vegetables and other ingredients that made it one of the best fried rice dishes I've had. I got my order to go and the order was ready quickly, providing good service. It's a nice place, convenient and comfortable. This is a true winner. I don't think you can go wrong here. read more

For a very long time , tycoon was the restaurant that my wife and I would visit. Lately however it themes that they is that the Is business is slipping a little. The food is Medioca. The last pat tie we got there was dry and had very little flavor. As a past restaurant to AI know what it's like To lose your passion for business. Visited Aug 8, 2025 and dined-in. Service: slow, inexperienced, understaffed and rude waitstaff. You stand in the entranceway while the staff pretends you do not exist. It's off-putting and unfriendly. The waitress rolled her eyes when we put in our drink order then did not return for 15 minutes and said she "doesn't think she has the ingredients to make the drinks". She had no business working in this capacity without training. We ordered something else instead, something she could just pour into a glass which did not require her to mix anything. Appetizers were not as described, the dumplings were instead fried dough balls (pre-purchased from a supplier, not homemade, and did not contain ingredients mentioned on menu). We told the waitress she said "these are our Thai dumplings" and rolled her eyes. She was disinterested and dismissive. You could not eat them, deep-fried, mushy, cold, only filled with breading. The dipping sauce was like sweet thick glue. Entrees were also poor quality, we ordered one curry and one stir fry, both sauces tasted and looked like dirty water. Zero flavor. No one asked how our food was and no one tried to improve this horrible dining experience. We used to go here once a week when the previous woman had the restaurant but we will not be returning. Not only disappointing but repulsive food. And the waitstaff...snarky. Oh, and the dining room is open to view the doorless storage room, so while you're dining in, you get to look at a messy room filled with strands of old lights and disheveled cardboard boxes. I used to frequent Thaicoon back in the 90's and early 2000's and they were my favorite Thai restaurant. They have recently opened for dining in, and we went there today. I had the chicken Pad Thai and it was excellent and brought back great memories. Their Pad Thai is a little sweeter than most. Try the hot sauce as it adds a nice spicy hot to the meal. read more

NOTE: TAKEOUT ONLY at the moment. I picked up some takeout of red curry and drunken noodles. The red curry was a bit different than I'm used to, but good. Not spicy at all, though, so ask for it to be spicy if that is what you usually get. The drunken noodles were spot on. The girl that worked at the checkout desk was super nice and friendly. I have been going here probably since the early 90's and it was my go-to for Thai I was cutting carbs and saw it was closed so when I saw it was open I decided to stop in. Big mistake. Getting greeted and seated went well. First contact for drinks and app order was fast. The app came in 15m and then the drinks after. Not good, but not the worst. The next hour plus for the dinner that never came was. I got in by 5:45 and still no food by 7:20 so I paid for what I got and left. There was screaming audible from the kitchen so I assume the dining room orders and to-go's locked up the works. Unfortunate. I would give this restaurant 3.5 stars. First impression was not so good. My boyfriend and I came in at 6:30pm on a Friday night so I guess it was pretty busy but I could just feel the chaos in the air. Nobody greeted us as we came in and we waited about 4 mins awkwardly by the door. I finally just walked over do the register in the back and asked if we were supposed to seat ourselves. It took another 5-7 mins for us to get handed menus, but our order was taken shortly after (maybe another 5 mins). I was pretty bummed because they ran out of potatoes for my curry but I get it, it happens. Food overall was good. One of the girls was running the show (I think she was Asian??) so props to her! They make their pad thai differently (I believe it's oyster sauce last time I asked) but wow doesn't matter to me what they use cuz this dish is godly. Fresh ingredients cooked to perfect Update It's normally a five star location but after today it wouldn't get four or even three. The service is in the toilet because they are trying to run the same operation with half as many people on the floor. There are people waiting to be seated waiting to get the order taken waiting for a glass of water which normally would come out immediately. The food remains to be to be excellent in all categories with the exception of the portion size went down hopefully it's just a mistake but I tend to believe they're cutting costs wherever they can.
