I've been going to A-1 Thai for well over 20 years because their food is consistently good. It's my go to for Thai. This time I went with my cousin who usually eats Thai at a place down south that is a bit fancy. A-1 is not fancy, ambiance is basic but comfortable. There's booths or tables. There's a salad served before your meal. It used to be included but now is extra. It looks like a simple little salad but the combination of ingredients with their dressing and used to be potato chips but now is potato sticks, it's fresh, crispy and I love it. We split an order of spring rolls and both ordered Penang Chicken with spice level 2. Spice levels are 1, not so spicy, up to 5 that I'd probably tear up by being in the same room with. Their spring rolls are served fresh from the fryer with a spicy jelly sauce. Always hot and yummy. The Penang is served with your choice of veg or protein. If you want veg with your protein you will need to ask. Otherwise it's vegetable free, plenty of chicken in delicious sauce with plenty of white rice on the side. The service is always friendly. Your food does not come out as soon as you order because they prepare it when you order. They're not slow at all but food has to cook. If you don't want to dine in you can order take out. Not sure if they deliver. I hope you enjoy their food. I always do.

Roach in my Soy Sauce Noodles
    Yailenis D.

Sunday night I bought two orders of soy sauce noodles TO-GO and as my husband is eating his we see a roach. I contacted the restaurant and the guy that picked up gave me the run around and said his manager would call me, manager called and I asked for a refund on my order not just for my husbands but for my noodles too since we got grossed out ($35) and the manager told me he can only refund me 1 order of noodles since "they are not cooked together" even though they are the same noodles. It's now Thursday and no refund has been issued for either the full order or the 1 order of noodles with the roach.

I use to frequent this place years ago but haven't since COVID and I thought that they closed. I used to say that this is the best Thai place ever, very authentic and by far the most flavorful. Came back today and they did not disappoint. This is Thailand thai food, not Americanized thai food. If you want the real deal, come here. Place had seen better days but food is far better than the fancy Thai places anywhere. I can't recommend anything because I love everything they have. I will give this place 10 stars if I can. And to whoever owns this joint, thank you for making delicious comforting foods.

This was my go to restaurant for Thai dinner, for 2 decades. I was never disappointed till tonight. Started with a pot of hot tea and spring rolls. So far so good. Then ordered 2 stars Chicken Padthai. That's when I found out the eliminated the side salad with trade mark lays potato chips. So, ordered a side salad and it had potato shoe strings in place of chips. It was definitely not the same. The Padthai arrived, but the rice served from a big shiny pot was not. Yep, they have eliminated the best Thai rice I've ever had. So, a little taken back, wondering what else and the heat spice was zero, not 2 stars. I didn't complain to the server, but asked if the ownership had changed and that was confirmed. Prices increased too. $15 for the padthai, $7 for 4 spring rolls, $2 for small salad (if ordered with dinner) and $7 for pot of hot tea. Even the flavor of the Padthai had changed. No peanut flavor and lots of salt. Service was as normal. Not bad but not great either. I don't recommend A1 and I'll not be back again. This was so disappointing

Tofu red curry, tofu pad thai and shrimp panang curry

We went here with high expectations after seeing reviews and all expectations were met and exceeded. I got the tofu and vegetable red curry which came with white rice. The curry was the perfect amount of spice and the tofu was so made perfectly. My friends got the tofu pad Thai and the shrimp panang curry. Both were very happy with their food! We all used the spicy sauce with our meals. It was delicious, not your average Sriracha or chili oil. This is definitely the best Thai food we've had in West Palm Beach!

Sweet Thai Ice Tea.... loved it!

Had the need for some Töm Jon Göön (not spelled correctly) and desided to try this place. I'm glad I did... 1) Place was a little dark but friendly.... you could call it intimate or cozy. 2) Food was delicious. Order the Thai-Fry rice. It was good. 3) My Tom Jon Goon was very good and hit the spot... it was spicy enough.... 4) Thai sweet Ice Tea was great! 5) Server was friendly and attentive. Over all I will return to this place again for a quick lunch. I recommend you all give it a try.

So my friend recommended this place because of their fried rice. Their shrimp fried rice was AMAZING. Like I'm blown away. We had the krab rangoon, shrimp blanket & shrimp fried rice and my fiancé had wings. There's a salad that comes with it with some peanut dressing. It was different but good! It's a hole in a wall type place. Looks clean. The server is fast and straight to the point. No small talk! An introvert's dream! It's delicious. You got to try it.

    a variety of food items

I was randomly searching for Thai food on google maps and this spot was 5 mins away from me. The spot looks like a hole in the wall but it's accommodating and not overly crowded with people! Came here once and haven't stopped coming since. I actually stopped going to my old Thai spots bc this one really amazed me. The food is Great ! and so is the Thai Tea. Overall this place deserves 5 stars.

Absolutely great authentic food. Small and quaint, this place does not disappoint. The spice level is appropriate 1-5, no need to go all crazy though; Level 3 has a kick and I like spicy. Next time you want to skip the chain restaurant and try something authentic and delicious, try A-1 Thai!!

Thai spring rolls, comes in an order of 6, but we were too excited to stop and take a picture!

OK, so the poke tacos were not that bad but they don't do fried rice very well. I ventured here with some heffa that I don't even talk to anymore. But that's another story. The service was OK, they need to get their reservation system, right. I made reservations, but the heifer got there first. She said she used my name after they called me to inquire if I was still showing up. I had been there 45 minutes. The ambience is nice. It's dark. It was a Saturday. They were very busy. I'd return again well if they were open, but I would not be eating that again.

We only got drinks this time and we picked the lychee martini, yamazaki swinger, and the Lua Pele Scorpion Bowl. The vodka and the sake in the lychee martini didn't go to well or it was just a bad mix that day. But I was not a fan of the drink. The yamazaki swinger was very watered down and we barely tasted the whiskey. The Lua Pele Scorpion bowl wasn't much of a show and while the drink did taste good, it was mostly filled with decorations. It's supposed to serve 2-4 people but after we took all the decorations out and poured the drink into a cup, it was barely a full cup. I'll definitely give it a try again as I'm not sure how the food was and maybe it was just an off day for the bartender.

For a split second, I thought maybe the place had been rented out for a private party we weren't invited to. But, trusting the good reviews, we decided to stay and risk it. Worst case? We'd get our food before the menus even hit the table. We started with the curry puffs--crispy, warm, nicely seasoned. Solid little bites, though not exactly the type of appetizer you dream about later like an old high school crush. My salad with peanut dressing followed, but the dressing was more watery than I'd like. Tasty, yes, but I like my peanut dressing to hug the lettuce, not run away from it. And then--boom--the Penang curry chicken arrived and stole the spotlight. This was the real deal. The flavors were rich and balanced, with that "made from scratch" depth you can't fake. I asked for mine spicy and they nailed it--just the right amount of heat to make me sweat a little but still want to keep eating. And, I like it hot! Mission accomplished without losing flavor!! My wife went mild, and hers looked like it had been painted in softer pastels while mine was done in neon flames. Same dish, two totally different personalities. The owner came by to chat, and she was a delight. Turns out they grow their own peppers and make all their curries from scratch. Suddenly, it all made sense--the freshness, the layered flavors, the fact that my taste buds felt like they were on a guided tour of Thailand instead of eating reheated sauce from a jar. So yes, the restaurant was empty when we walked in. But this isn't a ghost town--it's a hidden gem. A 30 years in business hidden gem. Next time, I'm bringing more people along, partly for the company and partly so I don't feel like I accidentally booked a private dining experience.

It's a small restaurant but very cozy. Amy, the server was very nice. When I arrived there were a few people eating. The one thing I actually found annoying was the man at the table behind me was on his phone speaking loudly the entire time I was there. He finished dinner maybe moments before I did. I would've appreciated had Amy told him you know not to be on the phone like that while people were eating. It was very very disturbing. Another thing I didn't really like was that they didn't give you a salad or something with your dinner. Most Thai restaurants either give you soup or a salad with your dinner. Now onto the food. The food was delicious. I started with the shrimp a blanket and for dinner I had pad siew. I'm probably not spelling it correctly, but it was very tasty. The portion of noodles was quite large. I got the combination version that's supposed to come with shrimp chicken and beef. There were only two shrimp in my dish which I was not happy about. Overall, it was a good experience. Yes it would've been better if I didn't have a loud man screaming into a phone behind me through the whole meal. And yes, I would've probably enjoyed a salad before my dinner. But overall, it was a good experience and I probably would return.

The Pad Thai was a complete mess -- soggy, clumped noodles with no balance of flavor. There was no proper tang, no depth, and no freshness. It tasted flat, heavy, and greasy. Medium spicy was nonexistent -- there was zero heat and zero character. The steamed chicken was the worst part. It was pale, rubbery, and had an unpleasant smell and texture. "Steamed" should mean clean, moist, and simple -- this was none of those things. It tasted old and unappetizing, and I couldn't eat more than a bite. For a dish that's a Thai staple, this was shockingly bad. Pad Thai is not complicated -- when it's done right, it's comforting and balanced. This was bland, greasy, and poorly prepared.
