Loved our ThaiKota food and the cashier was very informative and helpful explaining a couple of the dishes. Crispy Gau Gee: pork filled dumplings served with sweet chili peanut sauce Pad Thai with Tofu: Thai style stir-fry rice noodles, egg, peanut, beansprout, with a sweet tamarind sauce Drunken MaMa: Spicy noodle dish with basil, egg, green onion, tomato, cabbage tossed in house wok sauce. Ordered 2 noodle dishes and both were delicious along with an order of freshly made tofu spring rolls (they have a chicken option). Prices were good, service was fast, could see them preparing your food. Had a fried egg on the Drunken Mama that was done just right. Not too runny or hard. Nice bit of heat to both dishes, the Drunken Mama was spicier than the pad thai. Great options for vegetarians and the chicken in the pad thai was so well done. Friend and well staffed, clean, with a nice outdoor seating area. read more

Amazing!! I'm in town for Homecoming visiting from Los Angeles and the food selections in town have been lackluster. Stopped by for lunch and so glad I did. We ordered the Fried Rice and Drunken Noodles. DELICIOUS...soo full of flavor. The customer service is even better. The host (I forgot to get his name) was incredibly warm and personable. Really delicious Som Tom Thai papaya salad. I am more accustomed to Laos-style but this Thai version had a more fresh, slightly sweet flavor. It was the perfect accompaniment to sticky rice and their fried chicken wings. FYI sticky rice is a finger food. So pinch off some rice, some papaya salad and a little chicken. So good! I ordered 5/5 spice for the papaya salad. It was satisfyingly hot but definitely less than Mango Habanero, on the Buffalo Wild Wings scale. This seems a really great Fargo spot. This place is the truth! It's rare to find Khao Soi with tofu in the first place. And it came with all the fixings, and the curry was properly spicy with the chili that came on the side. I could drink the curry by itself and be happy! Spring rolls were also clearly freshly made and came with two seemingly homemade sauces, including an incredible herb pesto(?)-like sauce. Food was very yummy. Pad thai was good but I wouldn't say significantly better than other pad thai I've had. We were really impressed by the Khao Soi as this was a dish new to us. Grateful for protein customization options as vegetarians. The outdoor seating was nice with good weather. Inside was very casual with limited seating. Servers were polite. read more

Probably my second favorite pad Thai in the area. Huge portions and fresh flavor. The drunken mama was a bit on the spicy side for me, but it felt like a pack of ramen that they stir fried in some spicy sauce and added veggies. Would still recommend stopping here! read more

This is a smaller restaurant with about 10 tables. There is a chalkboard by the cash register with the menu on it. They also have menus at the cash register with pictures. You order at the cash register and pay and they bring your food out to you. They delivered the food in a timely manner. A few items on their menu, which is sparse, indicate they are more from northern Thailand. The food was tasty, but not spicy. One person had the mama noodles I think they're called. She said they were OK. I had the pork curry and it was OK. The other person had the yellow curry and that was the favorite of the table. The spring rolls we ordered were lettuce, noodles, and shredded carrots. Rather basic, but they did provide two sauces. I am glad we went there. I am not sure I would return and if I did, I would probably get the yellow curry. read more

A little spot in downtown Fargo. Patio has two tables and two picnic benches. It is dog friendly but you need to walk your dog through the restaurant. Order at the counter and they bring your food in to-go containers. Not as many vegetarian options as I am used to. I had the tofu spring rolls. Not great. Hardly any tofu at all! And the pad Thai with tofu. I didn't love it but it was fine. Biggest issue was the amount of flies bothering us at our table! Hopefully just a fluke but it was really unpleasant. Decent size parking lot. Probably wouldn't go back but everyone was very nice and hopefully you will have a better experience overall! read more

Great experience all around. The food tasted great - this was my first visit. My friend has been there before and loves the place. On top of the excellent food, the service was super attentive. Absolutely delicious Thai food in a friendly low key spot. The wings were incredibly crispy with a delicious funky fish sauce. Ka naa moo krob (crispy pork belly) was super crispy with fresh crunch broccoli and the perfect savory spicy sauce. A must try! read more

Cute little place. I've had thai food in several states. This one touts northern thai food. Unsure of what that meant but needing a quick lunch i went with a standard pad thai. It was good and a generous portion. It also had a swertness i was pleasantly surprised by. I added chicken for $2.50 which i would avoid in the future. One of the best Thai food I have ever had. Was on a road trip from Chicago and had to make a quick stop in Fargo. Was very shocked and pleased to find ThaiKota in Fargo. The Thai food was better than most Thai places in Chicago and they pleased my picky taste buds . We ordered their Drunken stir fry noodles, Khao Soi ( Thai curry noodle soup) and a side salad . Everything was so flavorful . Beautifully spiced( not hot) but simply taking advantage of tropical spice flavors . I would highly recommend this Thai place . So many element of flavor in the food we ordered! Even the salad ! It was also nice to see they were busy. People ordering takeout as well as dining in. We arrived Fargo North Dakota late at night. We ran into a very nice lady working at the airport so late that night. I really appreciate people working waiting late for a delayed flight. I guess they have no choice but to wait for us, but I really appreciate their presence. In casual conversation I asked this nice lady working at the airport, where do you like to go for good food tomorrow. A girlfriend and I would like to find someplace nice to eat. I was bragging to this lady, but I was taking my girlfriend to a nice restaurant downtown called Vinyl Taco. She said to me, that that was good, but that she recommended ThaiKota restaurant. I am so glad she told us about this place. We checked out the menu, and were impressed by the beautiful pictures of their creative work. It's not so usual, that you find, food from northern Thailand. The last place I would expect this is in North Dakota. It was my lucky day. We ordered a variety of dishes that we knew we would like. It was served in no time and we enjoyed every bit. When we ordered, we were asked how spicy we would like our food. I answered, in Thai of course, that I like it spiced traditional Thai style for Thai people. To my surprise, the food tasted like food does in Thailand. That is an amazing talent, that you could cook traditional food so far away from its origins and reproduce original flavour. In my experience, some restaurants Will adapt the food for the local palette. ThaiKota kept to the original style and recipe. Thank you. I love exploring different restaurants and cuisines wherever I go, but my family is often pretty weary of this idea. When I suggested thai food they were unsure, but wouldn't outrightly say it so I just found a place and said let's go here. They. Loved. It. Some things I loved about the place 1. Station near the cashier with free water, forks, chopsticks, spoons and napkins. Easily accessible and frequently refilled 2. Menu includes on cashiers counter includes pictures!! So you could see what you were getting 3. The meals are served already in to-go boxes so you don't have to ask for one! On top of that the portions were a good size! My dad ate his whole portion, I ate most of mine but didn't finish and my little brother ate about half of his. The food stays and heats up very well (like better than pizza well) so I ate the rest of it for dinner 4. Food. Was. Amazing. We got the spring rolls which were super refreshing and the dipping sauces added so much to them! I got the pad Thai which had a very nutty and comforting taste with a great texture! My brother and father got the Druken Mama which had a wonderful and district flavor plus a bunch of veggies in it which gave it good texture aswell. 5. The spice!! I love Thai spices but sometimes they can be unpredictable. I think the spice was pretty true to its number though! I got a #2 spice which snuck up on me a few times and made my nose run a little but it never got to the point of discomfort overpowering the meal. 6. The food was also very filling. We ate around 12 and I'll admit had some Easter candy at home plus a bunch of water but we weren't outwardly hungry until 7-8. Even though it was filling I never felt uncomfortably full, and I was able to eat pretty slowly/thoughtfully(?). Plus I got pretty good at eating noodles with chopsticks! The ambiance was also pretty comfortable and I didn't feel closed in or anything like that. The place was clean and the kitchen looked tidy aswell. Plus their bathrooms were clean and single use which I prefer ngl Highly. Highly. Highly recommend this place for ages 10+. Definitely on our list of amazing places! read more

I've been here once and I ordered the pad Thai. It was very, very good. The cashier was friendly and the lobby was comfortable enough. I ordered a side of crispy pork belly to put on the pad thai and it cost an extra $4 but they gave a very fair amount and it added a lot to the taste of the meal. I don't think I'd order the pad Thai again without the pork belly. It really made the meal for me, though it was tasty without it. It is true, if you add chicken, minimal is given. I'm a fan and I recommend this place! read more

I'm trying to decide if it's the best restaurant I've had in Fargo. It's close. Top 3 for me. The flavor is so unbelievably spot on, the portions are perfect and the staff is amazing. My favorite dish, possibly of all time, is the Khao Soi Curry. I can't understand how every bite keeps getting better and better but it does. Completely recommend, excellent service and food! We were a little apprehensive about trying a Thai place up in the midwest because we have had experiences in the region where you just can't get spicy food (which we get cravings for...) even if it is described as such. This place surprised us with excellent appropriately spicy dishes that were rich in flavor and texture just like we learned to love in the big city Thai restaurants. So great! The MaMa noodles I had with pork were worth coming back for and their house special yellow curry was also spot on fabulous. Will be back! read more

The location is perfect for takeout right at the corner of university and 1st downtown. Call ahead, because they just opened.
