Pretty good breakfast but way over priced. I've eaten inside once and gotten to-go once. Both times the food was ready really fast and the waitresses were nice. When I ate inside I got a simple breakfast of eggs, sausage, and French toast with chocolate milk. Nothing else since I just shared with my baby. It was about $25. I ordered to-go of 2 chocolate chip pancakes and the French toast with strawberries special with 2 sausage patties. $5 per patty! The total was $45. The pancakes had hardly any chocolate in them and must of been almost $10 each. The strawberries were mushy out of a jar, not fresh. Just seems so high to me for 2 breakfast meals. No potatoes, no eggs, no drinks. read more

After a long discussion of a great breakfast spot within a half hour of our house, we decided to check this gift from God himself out. Longish ride from Norwich, but not too bad of a day for a quick drive out to Windham. We were very glad we made the drive. We were greeted as soon as we entered, and we were given the option to either sit at the counter or wait for a table to open. We chose the counter (we were excited and hungry!) and took a seat. Ordered coffee (their coffee flavor was French Vanilla, which the wife ordered, and I ordered regular) and looked at the menu and the specials. So many options! We considered what was offered and Marveled at the photos of Mark Ruffalo (see what I did there? He's Bruce Banner...) and made our choices. We don't usually order specials, but I saw the fries and carne asada steak with cheddar, jalapeños, pickled red onion, sour cream and guacamole with two eggs to order, and it seemed like just the right spice to kick off the day. The wife immediately chose another special, the sun-dried tomato omelette with spinach, feta, bacon, ham and mushrooms, topped with house-made hollandaise sauce and avocado. She ordered it without the sun-dried tomatoes, despite it being the name of the omelette, and our server noted her choice without any sort of snobbery (some servers get snippy if you don't just take what's offered as offered). I made my order, and our server responded with an enthusiastic "yuuuuup!" letting me know I'd made a great choice. I also ordered a side of kielbasa. Now, we wait. Not for long, that's for sure. As we sat at the counter, these ladies were HUSTLING. Busting their butts, behind the counter and out on the floor. Friendly and warm, the lot of them. As we waited, our server (whose name escapes me - I'm a terrible customer) comes up and says "What did you order again?" and the wife and I exchange glances. Server laughs out loud and then tells us she's joking and grabs our food. I love when waitstaff can joke with their guests. So that was funny. She hands us our food and bounces to take care of another guest. Where are my eggs? I ordered them over easy, and I dug under the mass of food on my plate, not finding them. As soon as I look up, another server is sliding my plate of eggs over to me. Excellent timing! And it was funny, again, of them to kinda mess with us. So we dug in, and my meal was gone just about instantly. My wife savored hers and enjoyed it slowly, making sure she had plenty of leftovers! Kielbasa was just as good as the rest of the meal! Oh, and the wife LOVED the French Vanilla coffee. Great staff, amazing meal! Very grateful to our friends who recommended we make the drive up there! Oh, and we mentioned it was our first visit, and that we'd checked in on social media, and one of the girls took our coffees off the check. Awesome visit, we will 100% be back! read more

I was in town for an event at UCONN and wanted a nice hearty breakfast to start the day. The menu looked incredible online so I took a ride to check it out. "That" place does NOT disappoint!! The staff was incredibly friendly and raced around making sure everyone had what they needed. They seemed to know at least half the customers which is always a great sign. I had the Reuben Benedict which is exactly what it sounds like and have been wishing I lived closer to have it again and explore the menu. Just go. Great experience all around. read more

Absolutely love the art on the building before you walk in. They get one star for that alone. It's like a atrium as you walk inside like a home feel to it . You go in another door and there are plenty of seating here . They get alot of regulars as you hear waitresses call folks by name . Very cozy and welcoming feel inside . We were greeted and served drinks immediately,but the waitress did come back too many times while I tried to figure out what I'd like this morning. They have a pretty big breakfast menu and loads of specials. Pretty pricey some of those specials ,yet I had to try one (most run 12.50-14.75) We went with the Nutella special today . It was called "Greek Waffle" A belgium waffle topped with Nutella drizzle, vanilla ice cream, chopped up baklava, walnuts & pistachios, white chocolate sauce, whipped cream and chocolate chips. Sounds like it would be sweet but it was really delicious. We got bacon for about $4. Also, we had two eggs with toast and home fries with onion and a maple banana Walnut french toast . I've been here numerous times and it's always a solid choice for breakfast food. Always good service. And I love that they serve V8 (some places just offer tomato juice). I feel the seating/interior is a little outdated but that might just be their style. They have a private room, so I was able to host a bachelorette breakfast one time and they went above and beyond to make the bride feel special. My last visit I got the California eggs Benedict and it was delicious! Cooked perfectly and the hollandaise wasn't too tangy (I prefer mine on the less tangy side). This will continue to be one of my go to breakfast spots on the east side of CT. read more

My plan was to have breakfast at the Lighthouse Restaurant but didn't know it's no longer opened. Luckily, YELP guided me to That Breakfast Place! We got seated right away, greeted by the waitress within minutes. The place had young families, students from area colleges and everyone in between. It was loud but fun! The menu was amazing, the specials all had my mouth watering! I order the caprese eggs Benedict. You have a choice of potatoes-hash brown patty, grilled smashed potatoes or home fries. Let me just say how fresh the food was, I love my eggs had spinach served with them. You need to try it-I cannot wait to come back and eat my way through the menu! read more

Con: We live so far away from That Breakfast Place Pro: EVERYTHING ELSE! If you are an eggs Benedict lover like I am, run don't walk there. I had the farmers Benedict which was so delicious. Multigrain bread instead of English muffin. I usually want to ask for extra hollendaise sauce but don't because I don't want to seem piggish. No need to ask here, there was a sumptuous amount on my plate. If I lived closer it would be my mission to return weekly to try every one of the Benedict's on the menu. Hubby had the breakfast quesadilla said it was wonderful, the eggs were still nice and fluffy. The hash browns were so flavorful, best I've ever had. My son loved his Nutella waffles too. Had no idea this place was here, let alone how busy it gets. The portions are solid and the kids mickey mouse pancakes were bigger than most other places regular pancakes. We had around 8 people in our party, sat quickly, and everyone's meal was very enjoyable...there's really not an item on the menu that wouldn't be good. This a is great place! We were very impressed by the curbside service and delicious food! Firstly, the fact that the daily specials and regular menu were posted to Facebook made them easily accessible so we ordered ahead. Upon calling, the staff said curbside pick up would be fine. We called again after arriving, paid by phone, and the food brought to the car within 5 minutes. It was a Saturday morning and parking lot was very full so we really appreciated the extra effort. The food tasted amazing and was still nicely warm after the trip home. All of the portions were extremely generous. The eggs in were cooked perfectly over-medium, a difficult thing to get with take out. The smoked salmon was very high quality and tasted fresh. My french toast had delicious fresh fruit and no whipped cream as requested. The corned beef hash is something I will probably order everytime as it's perfect. -This place is Worthy of 4.5 stars so I am buffing it up to 5. Today I have finally got the chance to visit this place with my friend for an old fashioned brunch. This place opens at 6/7 am and closes at 2pm so it usually clashes with my class schedule and I had to wait till this weekend, blah. In terms of the location, it's really hard to find. My friend and I were stuck at Boston post road for a good 20 minutes before finding it- both of our gps couldn't locate the exact location so that was quite a sweat. (It's entrance is on the Willowbrook street, so I guess it will be better if you look that up instead) The interior is pretty old school, old fashioned. The waitresses was warm and attentive, so that's a plus. (It seems that they are slightly undermanned, so avoid rush hours to get the best service.) The menu is dominated by omelets, sandwiches, and salad (typical breakfast food). On top of that, I like how they have a daily special to add more variety to the menu. I tried the Reuben omelet and their corn chowder today. Though their chowder was not hot enough, in my opinion, but it's well seasoned it was still delicious. The toast (this stroke me!) and the fried potato that came with the Reuben omelet was well prepared; however i just felt like the omelet itself was a little bit too sour and I had to take down half a star for that (the egg exterior of the omelet was good too :/). Despite of the imperfection for the omelet, the overall dinning experience is outstanding, especially when it's relatively cheap! I will definitely bring more friends over when I have the time :). read more

I just wanted to make sure that the staff working front of house today know how much I appreciate their kick ass customer service (aside from the consistently good food). I called in an order and picked it up, I was genuinely surprised at how nice the waitstaff was and not just to me but to all the tables during a busy time. When I got home I realized a small issue with the order so I called to let them know (I try super hard not to be a Karen) and not only was the waitress I spoke to very apologetic she grabbed the manager and gave a run down of the situation. The manager knew my name, my order, and offered to remake the item AND refund my money (no refund necessary!) When I returned to pick up the corrected food I was greeted by name at the door, my wrap was ready and checked 2x by the manager and the waitress, surprise free fries were in the bag, and the waitress made sure to apologize even though it was no big deal. 20 minutes after I got home, the manager called me to check in and make sure the wrap was good, which I've literally never had happen before! It's been a crap year for everyone but it certainly made my day better, and I hope all the staff felt the same! read more

I am heading here this morning with my daughter. I like this place and liked it when it was under previous ownership, too. I took my kids there for a huge field trip with other home schooling families so they could see how a bakery was operated! I especially like their pork pie. I like the unusual on a menu, not the stuff I can make at home. So, pork pie it is! It is savory in flavor in a crumbly, home made crust. In addition, they have wonderful seafood and cheese omlette. This place is a little hard to find but with GPS's and Google maps, you can get there easily. I miss the bakery and the former owners; lovely old Italian couple. They were so kind and generous. I really liked that about the place. On a weekend you'll find your local mayor, police, or fire man hanging out here. They don't make bakery any more but it's still a great find. Reasonable, noisy at times, great for a family with kids. You'll have a great meal at That Breakfast Place! read more

I haven't sampled everything on the menu, but my recent and first-ever visit was underwhelming and made me wish I had gone to Nita's instead (though Nita's is closing, sadly). I saw that biscuits and gravy were on the menu, a dish I love. I grew up in the Appalachian regions of Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia, and have sampled a variety of biscuits in restaurants, as well as had them as a breakfast staple in my home. The biscuits here are cake-like in texture and taste - in short, horrible. The gravy appeared to have been made with corn starch - it had a terrible glutinous quality. So, I'm glad I only ordered the one biscuit as a test, and not the whole plate! My wife had a breakfast sandwich - eggs, cheese, sausage on a bagel and that looked pretty good. I think she was pleased with it. I had an omelette with corned beef hash in it. Ah, corned beef hash - done right, it's marvelous. The hash in my omelette, however, lacked flavor and had a kind of paste-like consistency; almost as if they had used corned beef hash-flavored refried beans. The home fries were very good. Would I go back? Sure; I feel armed with enough knowledge to order better and would probably stick with traditional plates like scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage, home fries. read more
