My daughter and I found her senior prom dress here today. We've been to other popular dress stores and ended up with nothing but a headache bc it was always so stressful. This shop was MUCH more laid back, we were able to stay as long as we wanted and deliberate while she made her selection; we didn't feel rushed or pressured. My Grandaughter was looking for a prom dress. The shop had dresses on display but the clerk steered us to other dresses.. She had my granddaughter try on dresses that were not flattering at all. Yet, the clerk commented how nice each one looked. The sales clerk was switched in the middle of the appointment and Manager came in and talked to this clerk about her sales. Dress was paid for and we thought ordered in plenty of time for event but day before event we had to find something else to wear and they won't respond or refund our money. It was my first visit to the boutique, on Monday, June 4th, 2012, as I was looking for an amazing dress (unique, couture, etc) for an upcoming wedding on this Sunday, June 10th. Working with Ann (the owner) and her associate, was truly a pleasure!! I found an exclusive dress made only for them with all the accessories to go with it!! Prior to finding this boutique....I had been out searching boutiques and stores all day Saturday 06/02/12 from Naperville to Lombard to Oakbrook....only to be completely disappointed and not able to find anything. To my dismay I found out that many stores do not carry "uniqueness" or "the stock" that one might expect when looking to purchase a dress. Without ranting on and on for pages ill cut to the chase. These women working here ruined our "Mother of the Bride" dress shopping experience. I grew up in the area, and my parents still live there. The dress my mom found here was pretty, but the women worker was so nasty to her it sent her home in tears. The women promised theyd repair a dress my mom had been eyeing at no cost. Upon return the dress had been repired, but the women had charged a healthy altering fee. When questioned she became defensive and even raised her voice saying very rude things to my mother. When you come in and say if you can't guarantee it to be delivered within the month and they say "don't worry HONEY" I would expect it to be there. Ann the owner is who consistently would say they will have it on such days...Then you are told it is in and come to pick it up and it is not. Then are told it's in so you plan to pick it up based off the websites hours and you go there at 630 and says open till 8 on Thursday and it's closed. Go back in on Friday at 520 middle of bridal season with ONE clerk working who barely can walk up stairs and didn't even attempt to open boxes to see if dress was in there. BEWARE!!!!!!! I apologize but this review will be very lengthy. I want everyone to know what type of business owner Ann is and how she conducts business. My daughter and I went into the store February 17 looking for a dress for her prom on April 26. She found her dress the very same day. The sample dress she tried on was smaller and we were told they would order a larger size. Her measurements were taken and we were told we would receive a call when the dress was in. I received a phone call on March 25 that the dress was in. I went into the store on March 27. Upon receiving the dress I noticed that there were beads hanging off and dirt and make up spots on the dress. I asked her what was going and why was the dress in this condition. She said she didn't know since it came from the manufacturer and it's been in the bag. She stated she would order another dress and call when it arrives. The two week mark was approaching and I hadn't heard anything so I called to see if the dress was in on April 8. She said yes. I was wondering why no one had called me but moving forward I went to pick up the dress on April 10. I'm waiting for them to bring me my dress and I notice it's in a That Girl Boutique garment bag in which you couldn't see the dress. The young lady gives me the bag and Ann says send me pictures. She was rushing trying to send me out of the store, however being that it was a previous issue with the dress I felt the need to inspect it. Upon inspecting the dress the bead issue had been corrected very sloppy and the dirt and make up stains were still there. I asked her how are these stains still there if you ordered a new dress. She tells me that she didn't and sent it to be cleaned. She paid $70 for it to be cleaned and she doesn't know why the stains are still there. She then proceeds to go and get a wipe and start wiping off the stains. My question to her was if the stains are coming off with the wipe how did you get it cleaned. She then tells me I can have it cleaned and she will reimburse me. I'm getting more and more angry. As I'm continuing to inspect the dress I look at the size tag inside of the dress to notice the dress is not even my daughters size. I tell her this is not the correct size. She then says it stretches. At this point I'm totally pissed off knowing my daughters prom is 2 weeks away. She says take the dress home to see if she can fit it and if not come back tomorrow and I'll give you your money back. That wasn't the point and the fact that her attitude was like oh well threw me off so I left with the dress before things escalated on my end. I get home and explain to my daughter what happened and as she's trying on the dress my daughter says this is the sample dress I tried on. I'm beyond mad at this point. The next day I return to the store and I ask her why would you give me the sample dress. Ann then tells me when she tried to order the dress it wasn't available so she thought this would work. At this point I'm boiling. I tell her how dare you not call and tell me the dress was never available and give us the option of finding a new dress in enough time but you took it upon yourself to push a sample dress off on my daughter that you knew she couldn't fit and it was damaged then you charged full price for. She says I'm sorry I thought it would work and I'll give you your money back. I asked her what about my inconvenience in the fact that I've been to the store twice to pick up a dress that never was ordered. Here we are 2 weeks before prom and my daughter doesn't have a dress, her date already has a tux that was custom made off of the dress we thought we had, arrangements have been made and stuff has been ruined for her lack of anything. She should not be in business as I'm reading all of the other negative reviews. She clearly is about money and not about customer service. This has to be a typical practice of hers because she was too nonchalant about everything. Unprofessional, rude and a scammer is an understatement!!!! If I could rate this a zero I would. read more

Just made our THIRD trip here. Bought my daughter's prom dress here in January. The dress is stunning and she loves it. Service was good when we were looking and buying, but once we paid seems like customer service stopped. We were told that since we purchased a very expensive dress that we would get matching long gloves for free. I thought that was a nice touch. She said that she would order them and we could pick them up when we picked up the dress. When we came to pick up the dress the first week in March we asked for the gloves. Owner acted like she had never heard of such a thing...asked for our receipt. I had it and she looked at it closely and told us that she was out of gloves...OK no big deal. D tried on dress and took it off and they bundled it into a garment bag. I asked about steaming the wrinkles out and was told that was our responsibility...ok again. So my daughter went back again today (a month later) and was told AGAIN that they were out of gloves and she would have to order them. Oh and I also have to fax a copy of the receipt because she cannot find her copy... I spent $600 on my D's prom dress and on another dress for my older daughters formal...a pair of $20 gloves is not worth a fourth trip to this store. I had a good experience here with Yara (I think that's her name). She was very kind, patient and helpful. We came here for a prom dress for my daughter after seeing reviews on yelp. The only reason that I didn't give 5 stars is because it is pricey but the attention given was worth it. I guess you pay for the attentive service as well as the dress. The owners seemed nice enough. The lady put on a kid show for my son and let us sit down. If good service is as important to you as the product, I would highly recommend this place. Took four months for my prom dress to come in (they told me to expect only two months at most). The dress they measured me for didn't fit when it was finally delivered, and we brought it in to the boutique explaining that they took twice as long as they promised to order this dress and they mis-measured me and it doesn't even fit. They apathetically told us no returns, but said they'd let us exchange it for a different one since it didn't fit. I told them I don't have time to order a new one since they took so long and they didn't measure me correctly and that I want this dress returned. They refused, so we gave up and picked a different dress and they made us pay the $100 difference for the new one, so we lost even more money. Find a different boutique that actually has their customers' best interest at heart. This place caused so much frustration for me it was ridiculous! read more

This store was amazing! I was in a rush to get a prom dress since the one I ordered online was on delay and they were so helpful. They asked for my style and what I was looking for and I showed them pictures and they picked a few dress and so did I and together we all worked together and got me a backup dress just in case. Their service was great and they truly cared how I felt. They also made me feel so confident every time I walked out they made me feel amazing! A beautiful place and they also have plus size which is a bonus. I'm 17 so I feel they're dressed are beautiful and anyone can find a dress their. Also, the owner took time out of her day and called a place to see if they could get a dress for me within a week so she cared! They have a great selection and color options too. A great waiting room also with a couch for my mom to sit on and a huge mirror so you could see. The place is also 3RD GENERATION!! That's super cool to me and my grandmother and mother have all purchased dresses from here. I've been to a lot of places and this place is so comforting and great compared to peaches or Hannah's. This place has beautiful dresses but that's it. We went to the one in Mokena for my younger sister's prom dress. She tried on a size 0 at the store and it was a bit snug so the lady came over and said she would order us a 6....now I'm no expert and she is so we trusted her, she said of course we would need to get it altered but not too much. Ok fine. So she supposedly orders the dress and tells us within 7-10 days the dress would be in the store and if it wasn't she would call us and let us know. 2 full weeks go by and we don't hear anything so I call and was told that the dress was ordered just not in yet. Fine. 21 days go by from purchase date and we still don't hear anything so I call and was told that we would be called back within the HOUR so they can track the dress. I wait 3 hours and nothing so I call them and get oooo sorry the manager was fired last week and that now 2 teenage girls are running the WHOLE store and ordering! Still don't know where the dress is so 4 weeks after I ordered the dress I go into the store and Domonique (WONDERFUL GIRL) has to order us a new dress in a size TWO. Come to find out their last manager was getting a cut of the money from the alterations from the seamstress. We expected them to take at least 10% off the dress for the horrible service, inconvenience, and wait but no instead the owner starts yelling at us about how we were abusive. Um no not even close. I purchased a dress from That Girl Boutique 2 years ago, which is what led me to come back yesterday when looking for a dress for my bridal shower and a dress for my mom. The girls on staff are very young but helpful and were very kind in helping me try on a dress I liked. I can't say the same for the owners. I imagine they are husband and wife with the way they were bickering in front of customers about who would have to go buy their car sticker. On top of that the woman owner ( older lady w blonde hair) was very rude and condescending. When she asked me when my wedding was since I was shopping for a mother of the bride dress, I told her July. She gasps, "July? I'm all ready dressing girls for November weddings!" Well, excuse me, do you want my business or not? It's not like the dresses are made there. They order them from catalogues. And it's not like I'm telling you my wedding is in a week. Checked this place out when I was going to prom about 3 years ago. Nothing stood out to me.. and everything was quite pricey. Left here pretty quickly and got my dress from peaches. Came back here early this year with my sister and mom so my mom could look at their mother of the bride dresses. Some older lady was helping us and was showing my mom OUTRAGEOUSLY priced dresses. We told her that was out of our budget.. and we told her what her budget was. She was so rude to us. She told us to go upstairs to look at the sale items since thats the only ones she said we could afford. She didnt take us upstairs pr help us while we were up there.. she just pointed to the stairs. once she knew we werent willing to spend over $1000 on a dress she become cold and demeaning. My daughter was shopping for a prom dress. We went to Elegant Couture at 122nd Harlem first. We spent 2 1/2 hours trying on dresses. My daughter comment on how grateful she was that they did not put any pressure on her. My daughter wanted to look at more dresses so we came to this boutique. There is absolutely NO comparison! The outside is dirty, walking in, we were greeted by some friendly teenagers. The place is packed with dresses, very difficult to look through. When my daughter was trying on dresses, the owner (older lady with white hair) started asking lots of questions. My daughter mentioned that she'd been to Elegant Couture. The nosey owner then asked how much the dress was that my daughter liked, we gave her a price and she gasped, yelled out in front of everyone" what, that dress is only supposed to be $300!" Then the owner took over for the young girl already working with us, & proceeded to bring hideous dresses for my daughter. Then, yelled at the young girl saying, "who has this customer?!" For the selection of dresses, I give it 5 stars. I started off with having one lady that would help me get the dress on & off and while I was trying on dresses she would find more that she thought I liked. Then 2 other sales associates started helping her help me. I felt like a celebrity with a team of people helping me find the right prom dress. The sales associates and the owner were all very helpful and kind. They had a great selection of dresses of all sizes for a variety of budgets. You can put a dress on layaway and if you need it, they can order a dress in another size for you. My mom had my 10 year old brother in the store with us and they were very accommodating to him giving him chips and paper to draw on. There was plenty of street parking. A few minor Cons: I wish the fitting rooms had doors instead of cloth covering them. They need a better website. Also, one of the associates was not having very professional conversations in front of customers. Overall, Great store and great customer service. The way that finding a dress should be.
