I bought my 2 gowns there for both of my sons weddings. They are the only store around here that has quality, modern, a good selection of long beautiful gowns. They also can tell you if it can be altered and how. On the computer shopping, returning and going downtown Chicago did not work for me this year but Elegance did. Unfortunately this was a horrible experiance and is not a safe space for LGBTQ+. The stylist was openly homophobic and upset with me. She told me I wasn't allowed to pick out dresses myself, and ignored what I said I wanted. She stared at me while I was naked and gave me judgmental looks. At one point a second stylist came over to insult the way my body looked in a dress. The dress were also poorly made and left glitter behind as I walked. Elegance bridal literally saved my wedding. 3 months prior to my wedding my original dress (purchased elsewhere) didn't fit. I ran into elegance in a frenzy and they brought me in and helped me work through it until I found a solution I was happy with. I ended up purchasing a new gown and veil through them (Casablanca) and couldn't be happier. Every single guest commented how it was the perfect gown for me. They made sure it was altered perfectly and everything was just right for my wedding day. It was a surreal moment during our first look to see my husband cry over how much he loved that dress and veil. My bridesmaids also purchased their gowns here and all had a wonderful experience. Found my dream dress there about a year and a half ago. Lots of work needed to be done, and the seamstress made my wedding dress a reality. Something out of a fairy tale. If that wasn't enough, my mother also found her mother-of-the-bride dress there as well, as well as all the groom and groomsmen's tuxedos. I loved my dress and had an attentive person helping me at the time I ordered it...until it came in. The dress is too small. At the time it was ordered I was told that I was in between 2 sizes, so she used her best judgement when picking one. I then tried it on upon the arrival and I was unable to sit down without hearing the seems ripping. I told the sales associate that it was NOT the right size for me and she proceeded to correct me and tell me it was. She then informed me that there was nothing they could do about it when I asked to order the next size up. I am very disappointed with the lack of empathy of the staff and the inability to provide optimal customer service. I could've gotten a better dress on Amazon and been able to get a refund with the appropriate size (considering everyone goes to outside sources to get alterations done anyway - this would have been a much way to spend both my time and money). read more

The place was nice, but the staff...was NOT. The woman helping us seemed extremely irritated by the fact that the bride wanted to bring all of us with her. She was friendly and courteous only to the bride and the bride's mother. The bride asked us to help her by picking some gowns that we thought she might like. We started to comb through their selection- which was by no means massive- and we were stopped by the woman helping us. She said, very snottily, that she wanted to start at the other end so as not to "overwhelm" the bride. After taking a look at pricetags where we were shopping versus where she had directed the bride, of course, we were looking at the less expensive ones. Mmmhmmm. The bride tried on several dresses- found a couple that she liked, and the sales pitch began. We'd had our hands "smacked" so we started looking at the very limited selection of bridesmaids dresses, and picked out a few we liked. Yet again, the woman snapped at us because she thought we were picking out dresses for the bride. She told us we were looking in the plus-size section. Well, the bride is not plus-sized, but several of the bridesmaids are. Why aren't we allowed to look? Overall, the place was clean and well-organized, but not accommodating if you want to bring your friends along with you. I'm sure they'd be happy to take your money, but you'd probably have a better experience elsewhere. read more

I read some reviews about customer service issues but I went in with an open mind. I was greeted haphazardly and the minute I said I was looking for shoes it seemed to be a deal breaker. I'm not certain if the ladies work on commission or not but it took quite some time to be helped. Finally a young girl came out and got me some shoes from the back. I found a pair of shoes and I was glad because my wedding was coming up fast. I had to get a swatch from home to have it matched with my dress. They insisted on keeping the shoes until I brought in my swatch. Once I brought in my swatch they made an appointment for me to come get them. When I returned the shoes looked horrid!! Broken threads, bubbling fabric and they looked used. I was told they were the floor model but I thought I had checked them over very well prior to purchase. I started to cry and I was told that they could take 10% off! Not they dye job though, so lucky me! 7.99 off these used looking shoes! I didn't take them that day, I consulted with a few people on what to do. I was busy with my wedding so my mom asked for the money back. We were told it would come in a check. A few weeks later I didn't see anything in the mail so I called them. It took a few calls but finally I was told that the check would be in the mail. Sans the dye job, I still had to pay for that but at least I got my 79.99 plus tax back. I'm not impressed and I was terribly upset and there was not much service on their part. They could have offered the refund when I started crying instead of having me ask for it at a later time and a second trip. read more

Jenny is amazing! I sat down with her at my consultation and after askimg me a few questions she knew right away what I was looking for. I ended up trying on 3 dresses and picked the first one she picked out! She also recommended adding a sash which was gorgeous and really completed the dress. She was so fun and easy to talk to! She made sure I was given a great deal and applied it to my final price. She was very open with me throughout my dress fittings and she made sure ecerything was perfect. Charlotte is so meticulous with her alterations! She is a perfectionist which was more than ok with me when it came to my wedding dress! This was the first Bridal store I went to last Fall when looking for a wedding dress. Missy, was great in assisting me. She asked me to describe what I was looking for and told me to pick out some dresses. She then picked out a dress for me and it ended up being the dress I chose for my big day. She's is good! Lupida was very patient at one of the fittings to help pick out the right veil and jewelry. She pulled a bunch of options and took the time to help narrow things down. They've made the whole process easy, I've had two fittings and the dress fits perfectly. The seamstress has been great about making small adjustments to make the dress more comfortable. My older sister is the bride and I am the Maid of Honor. She was taking me to a new place to look for wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses. We arrived to this store and I was a bit leery considering we have went to plenty of HUGE wedding stored in downtown Chicago and surrounding areas. Well let's just say.. This boutique is AMAZING! It's smaller but that's what's great! You get all the attention and it's so elegant. The women working here are amazing, fun, and uber awesome! By the way, the most sweetest, outgoing lady named Claudia was our consultant! Totally loved her!! Guess what!.. We found THE DRESS! Who knew? They gave us discounts and at the end of paying they gave us sparkling grape juice to celebrate. They stood open a little later to help answer all of our questions. GO HERE. What honestly makes this place is the staff. These ladies are not your run-of-mill, chain bridal store. Haley (sorry if I'm butchering that) was my stylist and was SO patient and never made me feel like I was taking too long or anything. They were just SO kind, I felt really comfortable. I am a bridesmaid in a wedding next month and the bride chose this place for our dresses. Some of us live out of town and were instructed to get measured and call it in. I gave them my measurements in February and, based on that, the lady recommended I order a size 18. I was kind of skeptical as I'm normally a size 12/14 but she assured me that the dresses run small and that she measures about the same and an 18 fit her well. Awesome. A few weeks ago I was in town for the bachelorette party and picked up my dress. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry and didn't try on the dress at the store (not that it mattered because according to them trying it on while there is only to make sure the zipper works, alters are customer expense). So I get home and try on my dress and it is at LEAST 3 sizes too big. How is it that you have my EXACT measurements and you make me a dress that was so far off? Not only that but it's really long. Even with heels it was dragging a LOT. Also, only 2 out of the 5 bridesmaids were able to fit their dresses. All of the others were extremely too big. It's one thing to be a little big or small because weight fluctuates but to be this big is ridiculous. If anything, I've gained weight so it would be even bigger if i was the same weight as February. Go elsewhere, clearly these people just want to make a sale. Thank God the bride has a good seamstress. read more

Arrived on time for a mother of the bride dress fitting appointment with my mom and waited several minutes for our sales associate who helped us pick out three dresses, put them in a dressing room, and then disappeared. We continued to pull dresses off the rack and try them all on without seeing her again. I asked someone else for dress clips to help make the dress fit. Fortunately we've been to enough other dress fittings to know what good sales associates do so I could do it for my mom. We found the perfect dress but took our business elsewhere because of the lack of customer service and purchased it at a nearby bridal shop. Will not be back. read more

I had a great experience picking out my wedding dress at Elegance. At first, I went in with the attitude that I was not going to find much for being plus sized. I thought, yeah I will have a pick between like 2 dresses. Man was I wrong! They had several to try on. I had it narrowed down to 2 but the seamstress showed me something that was absolutely incredible and that was it, I had the one. I have to say my experience with Elegance was very disappointing. Customer service was awful. The ladies in this shop were downright snotty and rude. I was only looking for a flower girl dress, but I was still looking to spend money. Walking in this shop you'd think you just walked into a boutique on Rodeo Drive wearing your pajamas the way these women turn up their noses. Very unwelcoming. No one offered any help. I browsed for a couple minutes, had a question, had to wait in line at the counter almost a full 10 minutes (even though there was only 1 other customer in the shop and 3 ladies behind the counter...who seemed to be doing their best to look busy). My question was answered very bluntly and no further assistance was offered. I found something I liked, but I left just on principle. I wouldn't buy a pair of pantyhose here. read more

We visited this store twice in search of my nieces wedding dress and the first time the experience was great. She wanted to view other dresses at different stores but ended up returning to this location because they carried the dress and the service was great. They even sent her a coupon for 50% off select gowns. Upon booking her appointment she confirmed that her dress selection was included in the sale. However when we revisted the store to purchase the dress, the "manager" attempted to come up with every "excuse" why the dress wouldn't fall under the coupon. First the dress was "sold", but my niece had just tried on the dress, then it was "out of stock", my niece was willing to purchase the sample dress. It clearly became a game of lets find any reason not to honor our word. Lastly, this shop presents itself as embodying Christian principles, yet they would not honor their word in the pricing for the dress. Needless to say we took our business for a bridal gown, 2 mothers dresses and 7 bridesmaid dresses elsewhere. I will never recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

I have bought dresses here for occasions in the past and the staff was great including the seamstress! the manager missy is probably the kindest person with the most common sense I've ever witnessed. I called to ask if they could take a dress in for alterations I did not buy there, I explained the problems I've been having finding a seamstress and she LISTENED to my bad experience with a seamstress I had just left from, she was so compassionate and offered me some phone numbers because their seamstress was booked up. For someone to care so much about making a bride happy without hesitation, regarding if they made commission or not, is the kindest thing ever. I highly recommend this place and missy. This lady i believe she was the owner, was horrible. She was rude to the bride, my sister. Our bridesmaids dresses were wrong and she was unapologetic. She gave my sister a very very hard time with making it somewhat right. She was rude on the phone with myself and several of the other bridesmaids. Also when the guys went to pick up their tux's that i may say were measured for were all wrong. Many of the sleeves on the mens shirts were short and she insisted that they were not. She tried to convince them they were right so she would not have to do her job. also the coats were big, three of the groomsmen had the wrong shoes, i mean completely different styles. WORST BRIDAL STORE EVER! I bought my wedding dress from this store and changed my mind. My dress was paid in full. I went in and met with the owner to see if she would work with me about my dress. Every single employee, including the owner was rude and snotty! They all acted irritated to help me. I got nowhere with the owner. She was rude and talked down to me. When I went in the next day to pick up my dress, I saw a rude comment that was written on my folder. Someone had written "do not help her without checking her file". I was not expecting a refund on my dress, but I was hoping they would work something out with me. I regret giving this store one dollar of my money. Rude! And beware, they want to charge an additional few hundred dollars for alterations! They fail to mention that! Please, spend your money else where! I am originally from Illinois, but my fiancé is stationed in Pensacola, hence, I am stationed in Pensacola. I went home for a weekend to shop for a dress with my mom. sisters and best friend. We went to about 5 stores and I swear I tried on 100 dresses, I had so so service at each place and had all about given up, until we stopped into Elegance the day before I left. The minute we walked in the girls were all so sweet and couldn't have been more friendly. Erin was the associate that helped us and she spent so much time with me, my mom and two sisters...and all of our opinions ;-). She made me feel like a bride should when she is shopping for her wedding dress. At other stores I had associates that were "helping" me along with other brides at the same time, not at Elegance, I had Erins help the entire time I was there, and the three other times I went back that day. I came in here one day just to see what they had, I didn't have an appointment so I didn't really plan on being able to try on anything. To my surprise when I walked in they said they could squeeze me in, and let me, my mom and my maid of honor go through the racks and pick some dresses. We waited a while for the woman to be able to help us, but that wasn't a problem since I knew they weren't expecting me. Finally I tried on some dresses and they told me to rate them 1st 2nd and 3rd, I picked my first and they put me back in it. I still wasn't sold.. It was a beautiful dress but I just didn't fall in love with it, and I feel like that was obvious. I told them I wanted to wait and that I had only tried on dresses one other time and wasn't sure yet. They went on to ask what I would change about the dress, and I said nothing but I'm still not sure, so then they just stared at me.... It was super uncomfortable! I didn't want to be rude, but I said it was a big decision and I wasn't sure, so they went on to say it didn't have to be a hard decision and continued to stare... Then they went on to push their "incentives" they offer if you buy the first time your there.... I told them I couldn't comment and still wanted to think and they finally let me out of the dress... Although the lady made me let her get all my measurements, and even tried to get me to put $100 down! I finally was sick of the pushy ness and flat out said no... I mean the store is pretty nice... But I did not appreciate the pushy ness.. I felt like I was at a car lot! I then tried something blue in schererville and here comes the dress in Chesterton, both of which I could not rave enough about!! The staff at both places were amazing!
