Every square foot of this haunt is frightfully alive. 17 focuses on great actors and inventive non stop scares with dozens and dozens of monsters throughout all 17 rooms. Makeup and special effects are just amazing. This is a haunter's haunt that attracts the best talent around. Expect to be thrilled, scared, shocked and delighted. Back for round 3 at The 17th Door! I first went in 2015 and then again in 2022. I'll be honest, I was seriously bummed when I found out there'd be no Field Trip this year....that was hands down one of the coolest things I've ever experienced in a haunt. That said (and without spoiling a thing), this year's production absolutely exceeded my expectations. No cheesy jump scares here, instead they go straight for the deep seated phobias, the stuff that actually gets under your skin. The execution? Beautifully done. Creative, intense, and immersive from start to finish. Still holding out hope that the Field Trip makes a comeback one day. If I had a magic Halloween genie, that's the first wish I'd cash in. Tips: - whole experience is about 45 minutes long - Wear comfortable shoes, you'll be moving, ducking, and maybe running for your life - VIP tix so worth it if you go when it's packed, you skip the line straight to the front - If you're nervous or easily freaked out, grab the mercy pendant - You might get wet in a few spots, so plan accordingly with your hair and makeup situation - And please, pray with me that they bring the Field Trip back, it deserves a resurrection!!!! read more

As a loyal patron of 17th door since 2016 this year was a complete let down. Absolutely no creativity and exactly the same as the previous two years since they removed the water boarding. If you attended 2023 or 2024 expect the same scenarios. Kind of silly to also increase the prices throughout the years for the same experience. This is not a "haunted house". This is an entire fear inducing experience. I've been to a few of these haunted houses/experiences and this was hands-down the most involved and fear inciting. If you have a legitimate fear of spiders, claustrophobia, or any significant medical condition, 17th Door is not ideal for you. I didn't read about the experience at all; I just went so I could be surprised by the scares. This was both advantageous and my downfall...Cochino definitely shaved a "17" into the back of my head. That's ok for some jobs; wasn't for mine. But it was fun and easily remedied with a home hair cut :-)! The actors are great, experienced, and did an amazing job of balancing fun, fear, and safety. Only complaint is that we purchsed the VIP tickets and didn't feel a difference from the regular tickets, so wouldn't necessarily recommend the upgrade. I observed the regular line and we only went into the experience, 2 groups ahead of people that started with us. I'm sure this is time dependent--as it gets busier, you may see more of a benefit. read more

My husband broke his tailbone when the white van mis-launched off of a ramp. The airbags went off, several people were hurt, and the driver bolted without saying a word. When I approached management they said we were on our own since we signed the waiver. They showed no care or concern. Too much can go wrong at this place. read more

This is the best scary maze I've done so far. Much better then Halloween Horror Nights. It's was the right amount of scary and the price was definitely worth it. The waiting time wasn't bad. 30 mins tops. I definitely recommend it to anyone that wants to experience a good horror maze. read more

Sunday funday turned into the idea of being tortured. After watching season 1 of how they built this from the ground up on YouTube, I wanted to keep it with just watching on the tv and didn't have the courage to experience it in person. From one that is a scare actor and haunted house created I knew the time had come to see what this was about. Convinced the fam bam to come and they all blamed me that we're all gonna die on a sunday but it turned out to be the most fun and phenomenal experience yet! I even lost my eye glasses in one of the doors lol but they were able to locate them but I wouldn't haven even cared if they were gone cause the tunnel made it all worth it. As someone who's been here 12 times (5 times last year, 7 times this year so far and plan to go again!) This is the BEST haunted house in the SoCal area! I'm an October baby, so I chose to spend my birthdays here. Last year, and this year! Loved it! The anxiety even just walking to and through the door gives you tons of adrenaline. This truly is an experience and not just your average "boo" walkthrough. A great "mom" outing without the kids. Although with the older kids would be an idea for a great laugh haha. I had a great time and I would definitely come back. They do have merch and photo ops, I did get myself a nifty keychain that I get to sport throughout the year now. Only annoying thing, It is pretty warm inside. I was fanning myself with my waiver throughout the line. {A real jail is freezing} next time I will definitely get the VIP TICKET, i can't really stand in line for a long period of time. 2023 was different. New Location in Buena Park and a little tricky to find. Use the "YELPFOR17" for the biggest percentage off. I did the Field Trip, you can use code "First" for $6 dollars off on certain days or Yelp for 10% "yelpfor17." They will not stack. It is near the Asia Buffet side of the Mall. Park on that side or you will have to walk all the way around to get to your car if you park on the Walmart Side since they close the mall. My group was extremely excited as 7/8 were regulars and 1/8 was a first time prisoner. While it wasn't as torturous as people in my group mentioned, it was fun. Be prepared to run. It was a really FUN experience! Went on Halloween and I loved it. We went to Knotts Scary Farm the night before October 30 my birthday and I have to say Knotts sucked!! I went to 17 th door in 2022, 2024 and then again this year. By far 2022 was the best year. This year and last year are almost identical I did not notice any new rooms. I know people want to record their experience, but I feel like when they didn't allow phones back in 2022 it was a way better experience now everything is just for show. Some of the rooms are really cool, but then others lack wow factor. I really wish they switched up the rooms every year. If you went last year, I wouldn't recommend going again this year. read more

The 17th Door is an insanely good haunt! I traveled from the UK to visit with high expectations and they surpassed them by a mile. They do a great job at balancing the extreme moments (and there certainly are a few!) with the fun rooms. The engineering and operations that go into these rooms is outstanding, they really use their fabrication skills to make unique rooms I haven't seen anything like before. All of the actors were genuinely fantastic, huge props to them especially given the intensity of the rooms! The Backstage Tour is also absolutely fantastic and really well thought out, I can highly recommend it! Our guide for the night, "Pickles", was fantastic, hilarious and knowledgeable. They have windows and one-way mirrors into the rooms and mechanisms (we even got to stand *in* the mechanism for one room - spoilers!), there were several photo ops, and all of the cast you bumped into were genuinely really friendly. The merch is also fairly priced and good quality, too. Ultimately, this haunt is fantastic - it borders into extreme territory but remains completely fun throughout. I walked out of every room - even the extreme/shocking ones - with a massive grin on my face. I've done hundreds of haunts and this one is now the maze that I'll end up comparing every other haunt to. There's a safe word if something is too much (a few other people in my group used it at times and the actors backed off immediately!), and you can also get a pendant to automatically veto you from any shocks or bugs, so don't let those elements stop you from going if you don't want to experience them. If you find traditional haunts are fun but they don't really scare you, this is absolutely the maze for you. read more

Crazy experience. Definitely scared me to an almost extreme level at times. I cried "mercy" more than once tonight! This experience goes above and beyond anything I've ever seen or experienced before. 17th door puts other haunts to shame. Even just entering the building is a thrill in and of itself. Not giving away too much information since most Yelpers have done this already: see their comments. My experience was phenomenal. Adding on the VIP experience, "field trip." The money was worth it! In the picture I posted, it shows the trigger warnings, as well as the what to expect. You will experience everything shown, or you may not. Really depends based on your individual experience if that makes sense. The motive here is to play on your fears. I will mention the last door, the 17th door, is by far the worse. Anxiety through the max! Now, understand you can yell, "Mercy" and the actors will let up on you. Anyways, definitely will be back next year if the scenario is changed. I imagine it wouldn't be the same if you've done it before. Great VIP experience! Overall exciting, fearful and fun combined. Must do if you never done this sort of thing before. This was my first year going, every year I want to go but am always way to scared. I finally went this year, last night, and it was incredible. I had the best time, and was actually scared. I felt like i got my moneys worth because I was genuinely scared, but also had the best adrenaline rush. It was incredibly awesome. If you're like how i was, and was hesitant to come because you're too scared, my advice... JUST DO IT. You will NOT regret it. Seriously since it's still early on in the month we are going back to the field trip. Truly loved this place and cannot WAIT to come next year , but can't wait to come do the field trip in the next week or so. 5 stars!!!! Awesome scare actors!!!! P.S. I want to add, a lot of people who are complaining and putting 1 Star clearly didnt read the waiver. & with the Barber, it clearly states multiple times that YOU WILL GET YOUR HAIRCUT , IF , and i emphasis " IF " you volunteer. If you sit, or volunteer, you're getting your hair cut. It literallly tells you that many times. All the people mad about pain or this or that literally clearly did not read anything they were supposed too. Thats why reading directions or signs posted in front of you, are important. So just read everything & know what you're getting into. I went with my Boyfriend to 17th Door on Sunday 10/20/24. I was truly looking forward to getting scared and heard this was the spot. It started awesome, walking through the long corridor and the lights flickered displaying the 17th sign made it spooky , the perfect night to be scared. We walked in and were told to sign the waivers immediately and then rushed to the VIP line. I read twice that we could be exposed to "electric shocks". I didn't want to be tasered but decided to go through the experience thinking "how bad can it be?" It's part of the experience plus they don't use professional tasers. It shouldn't be too bad. We were place in a group of 6 people. We were with a family of 4. Mom, dad, daughter and son. We went through with the night but at the end we felt (my BF and I) that we were targeted or picked on more than the family. I won't describe each door because I am not against the event at all but I will describe two main ones that stood out to us. One was the butcher's shop. To me it was ugh a bit disgusting. They had realistic looking chickens hanging. They also touched me with a real looking possum which reminded me of a rat and I was grossed out. It was funny to everyone else seeing me suffer but again part of the fun. No big deal. Once that was over they put us inside what I can describe as our personal human refrigerators. Each person in a locker size fridge where the temperature was freezing. (I've heard that in this door some people got soaked, we did not). The second door I'll describe is one of the lasts ones. They placed all six of us against a white wall like little soldiers. Then a white sheer cloth/curtain cover came down covering our whole bodies and face. Like an old school garage door. It smelled like sweat. I guess because of guests before us. Then another sheer curtain came down over the first one. Lastly another protective barrier came down but it had straps. The straps were rubber feeling similar to what covers a doctor's stethoscope. They hold you in place firmly. You could hardly move. It was super tight. I didn't feel comfortable especially because one of those straps was in my face. I tried to fix it as best as I could when suddenly I felt a taser hit my back, then another one, then another one. Then two at a time. I couldn't pinpoint where I was feeling the taser. I started getting anxious and annoyed. I thought "how long can this last?, how many times am I getting tased?" I started feeling nervous and getting anxious. I called out for my BF but I felt he was having a hard time himself. I tried to move and moved my head to the right and got tasered in the head twice. It hurt badly. I started getting upset. This was no longer "fun" this was complete torture and uncalled for. I think I yelled "stop" and then the straps and sheer curtains came up. When I looked down my Bf was on the floor. They tasered him so much he tried to wiggle himself out to the point that he fell on the floor. I tried helping him get up and we walked out. I had a massive headache and wanted nothing to do with this place. As we walked out my BF kept on asking if I was okay and honestly all I had was a headache and felt hematomas. He kept touching his head and asked me to check if he was bleeding. I said let's get to the car and I'll check. Once we got to the car sure enough he had to big lacerations from him being tasered in the head too. We also felt my head and it had swelled from the taser. I was furious. I understand being tasered once and up to five times max. But the quantity we endured and in our heads was uncalled for. It was over twenty times. I felt it was two ppl targeting me alone I can't imagine who and how many tasered my BF. Then we learned that the family of four was wearing a necklace with a red wand that I guess once the employees saw that necklace they wouldn't touch them. We were never offered such a necklace, especially because we were rushed in. We also feel that since out of the group of six we were the only ones without the protective necklace we were targeted a bit more. I wonder were more ppl tasering us because they didn't have six ppl to taser? Why the heads? Shouldn't they have a policy against the head and quantity? Is this why we didn't get soaked? It's one of or the other? I rather get soaked than tasered, specially the way they did to us. read more

I wish I could give this ZERO stars. It's not scary, just painful. It should be illegal honestly. All they did was inflict pain by tasing me, shooting me and suffocating me. I go to haunted houses every year and this was not that. I love haunted houses. But this is not a haunted house. Just a bunch of sick individuals pushing their limits. I have a gash on my back from them. They say there's a safe word, "mercy" but they do not honor it. I yelled mercy while being suffocated with a latex blanket while being electrocuted and they kept going. When it was done, I told they lady and she told me to GTFOH. Seriously, do not go. It's not even fun or scary. I would never recommend this place. There's so many other haunted houses that are so much better where they are not inflicting harm on you. read more

Things have certainly changed, but I can see how it will be for the better. No longer behind a 99 cent store in Fullerton, these guys have apparently taken up residence in the long-unused space under the Buena Park Mall. Bye bye sugar plum festival, hello annual horror experience. I went through two times during the 2023 season. 17th Door is an intense experience not for the faint of heart, and my previous review still stands true. However, many of the more recent reviews are correct: this year's season was a good bit less intense than it's been in the past. It was pretty clear that they were still settling in from the move this year, so there was still a few things that weren't as fine tuned as they were in the previous location. However. It was still a freaking blast. They still managed to add some new rooms into their maze. I did miss some of the rooms that were no longer there but the new ones were so cool! I won't spoil anything here, of course, but apparently some YouTubers did full walkthroughs this year so you can see for yourself on their videos. I learned pretty quickly that those go into it being critical and searching for problems will not have a good time. Those who go into it to play along with the atmosphere, get scared, and have fun, will have fun. And a lot of it. Pro tips: Do the field trip, but only if you're good with running (being chased) for a good minute or two. It was the most fun horror experience I've ever had. Read the waiver and warning signs carefully. The waiver is available on their website. If you see things you might have a problem with, don't buy tickets. If you sign the waiver and then the things it warns about happen to you, don't complain. There's a reason the first thing you do is hand the waiver in and admit on camera that you signed it. Get a haircut AFTER you go, not before. Let the prison barber screw with your hair a little. He honestly does a good job putting a dope 17 in your hair if you let him. Leave as many of your belongings in the car as you can. People lose stuff a lot. There's one particular room where stuff falling out of pockets is really commonplace. Listen carefully to the characters, respect them, and let them respect you. They will help you through each room while treating you the way their characters are going to treat you, but if you are seriously having an issue or if you use their safe word mercy, they will help you out or at least take it easy on you. read more

Let's start with the good. The ambience was really incredible. The anticipation was built up. Every set felt really well crafted. They put a lot of thought into each room. The aftercare that one of my group members expirenced after the breath play was very cute and heartfelt I didn't like having to touch dead animals and one accidentally touched my face, I'm slightly concerned about the potential diseases from the animal corpses. I'm not trying to be patient zero for the next global pandemic. The cockroaches also scare me to because I don't know where they went . But overall really fun. This was really a lot of fun! Not nearly as scary as we expected. The mercy pens weren't really necessary unless you absolutely don't want to be shocked. It didn't look that bad at all. I probably Would have done it. The actors are great. It is very dark inside. I did mercy out of two room but that was more about the germs! I wasn't going to cover my head and face in something hundreds of other people had used and the latex wall covers group after group. My friend told me when she covered her head she could smell all the cologne and hair products from other people and she could see makeup and lipstick on the latex As it was coming down. Ewwwwe no thank you. If you don't want your haircut don't sit in the barber chair. Just know one person from the group has to sit before you can move to the next room. We did get wet but it wasn't awful and we weren't drenched. I recommend and would definitely return. Just make sure you know you can say mercy before you have to do anything you don't want to. Make sure you say it up front. Don't wait. If you think you shouldn't do it, don't! It is loud and slightly vulgar but it should be!!! Enjoy and don't overthink it. It's really not that bad! This is by far my favorite haunt ever! It's not about the typical jump scare experience. Instead you visit different rooms where they will elicit an adrenaline response in different ways. I swear you'll leave with the biggest smile on your face and a high from your bodies natural adrenaline. I've gone 2 years in a row and did the Field Trip both times! I always recommend the Field Trip- just try not to get stuck in the back when you're running throughout the experience- you will get tased that way! I swear it's not as scary as people make it out to be- they don't want to hurt you- they want it to be fun and thrilling! Follow the rules and keep an open mind! First time tried this out and it was definitely worth the money. Everything was well set up. I could feel my heart pounding and my adrenaline pumping. When running from room to room, I actually tripped and scratched myself a bit loll (blame it on my fight-or-flight response). Read the waiver carefully and expect all the warnings to appear at some point as you choose to engage in the activity.
