Lettuce cup with mushroom - Tasty
    Maral C.

I enjoyed this lovely poolside bar at Alila Marea Beach during my stay! I tried the Watermelon Wave drink, which was refreshing and delicious, and for food, I ordered the mushroom lettuce cup--so tasty and a generous portion, definitely enough for one! I savored my drink and meal by the pool at sunset. Great staff also! It was dreamy!

As a guest at the Alila Marea Beach Resort, of course I had to experience this poolside restaurant! First off, the servers are all exceptional. Very professional, as they are expected to be, working at such a high-end resort. They make one feel special and pampered, no matter what. The menu selection is excellent, too! The carne asada tacos were delicious, and so was my tropical cocktail, 'The Antidote'. There is a large, beautiful indoor space, as well as the entire outdoor area, including all around the pool. You mustn't be a hotel guest to enjoy this restaurant; there were some women next to the pool area, where there is seating around two huge firepits, who were local. Of course they couldn't use the pool, but I liked that they could enjoy the outdoor area, despite that. The firepits look gorgeous at night, too!

Good drinks and light food for hotel guests at the Alila Marea Beach Resort Service It seemed to me that The Pocket was short staffed when I went. I sat at the bar and I had to wait a bit to be greeted and get a menu/water with the bartenders/waiters being busy filling other drinks/orders. After I ordered, the drinks and food did come out at a reasonable time. Drinks/Food The drinks were strong and descent size for the price ($14). The Watermelon Wave was sweet and tasted as expected. The Sassy Sangrita I learned was not sangria, so I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would, but that's my own fault. The Adobo Quesadilla was delicious! Overall, this is your only option for food or drink if you're poolside so either plan ahead or order here!

Ordered a few things from here during our stay at the Alila Marea and it was definitely hit or miss. The nachos and salsa were delicious and so was the mocktail that I enjoyed by the pool, but the steak frites and burger that my husband and I ordered for dinner were so overly salty that they were borderline inedible (even the fries were too salty). This was disappointing as I think our meal would have tasted pretty good if the salt was not overdone. Prices were as expected ($$$). Overall this is a convenient spot to get food and drinks if you're staying at the resort, but we would definitely choose to drive out and try somewhere else in the area next time.

Getting some easy lunch at the pool

It was a layback morning/noon. After enjoying pool and jacuzzi we decided to grab some quick lunch with The Pocket. Hostess took our order at our resting chairs. Menu was simple. We've ordered following items: -Baja Caesar Salad added chicken(Great) -Oaxaca Quesadilla(Great) just a little oily -Baja Fish Taco (ok it will be better if they added the hot sauce that goes with Oaxaca Quesadilla) -wild mushroom ceviche (Great) -Guacamole -Coffee, Cocktail, Water You have to wait a little bit but food come out together one afternoon another since we only have one hostess serving us. The Baja Caesar Salad had grilled romaine which give it extra flavor with the normal but lighter Caesar sauce. The bread crumbs were crispy and fresh. Oaxaca was nice with it's unique hot sauce. I believe they should use this hot Auvergne for the fish taco also to enhance the flavor. Wild mushroom ceviche was first for me. I had many types of ceviche but mushroom was the first and it was tasty with some Mexican beans. If you are in the resort this is a good quick finger food that can easily fill.

We love that they use local foods like Prager brothers bread and Little Fox ice cream! We had a fun time celebrating our friend's birthday there and would definitely recommend this place as a cute date spot too. On the flip side, I will say for every dish we got, even though we enjoyed them, there was always one spice that would overpower the balance of the dish. The flat bread with burrata had too much salt in the spice mix on the flatbread. The beef tartar was good but slightly strong with the mustard flavor on the beef. The crispy chicken was also a little too salty. The Muhammara dip though, no notes. It was so good! This could all be personal preference, and we did enjoy everything! Those were just small things I noted about the food. Pricing for everything was reasonable and we left feeling full, which is super important

I ordered the mahi mahi fish tacos and a house coffee. The coffee was actually pretty good! Cream and sugar were delivered separately to finish with your preference. As for the tacos, it was okay. The fish was a bit dry for my liking, cabbage could have been chopped with more finesse, and I wished they QC'd their limes a bit before putting them on the plate. Both were bone dry and I had to ask for more. Moreover, the cilantro lime rice was also a bit bland. It needed salt to lift the flavors in my opinion. There weren't even flecks of green if it was supposed to be cilantro? I tried boyfriend's veggie hash but was disappointed to find that it was almost all potatoes. Having said that, it was an extremely generous portion so he was filled up. While I didn't try it, our friend that had the chorizo hash also said it was okay so I'm guessing the ratio wasn't quite right. Anyways, ask for their chili sauce on the side, that's actually quite surprising. It had really good heat and was more like a chili crisp than a vinegary hot sauce. The plates that did score favorably at the table were the carne chilaquiles and the divorced eggs.

My 40th birthday was coming up so we made a reservation. First off, it was on Father's Day so it was super busy. No parking! We went down to golf course to park. They had live music which I love, but music choice was just terrible. It sounded like a rave. When I got to the other side of the patio facing the farm, I thought we would not hear it well. Sadly, you could and the music from the restaurant was also playing ("highway to hell"-not kidding!) it was super over stimulating and uncomfortable to say the least. The music died down eventually, but the sun was in our faces for hours. It was hard to look up and we all had to rotate sides to take turns being blinded. A nice see thru shade would have been so helpful. Our waiter was nice but overly chill. He didn't show much emotion or care that we were there. It also took a long time to order and get food. The restaurant wasn't crazy packed btw, it was the event at the grass that caused no parking. Lastly, the food. We had 3 kiddos but no kids meals available. A spaghetti was offered, but we are gluten free. We had to purchase a $40 tri tip to share. The salad I ordered tasted like salt and arugula only...A few peach pieces here and there and the dressing was some sort of cheese that tasted like saltwater. I'm not a picky eater, but this was disappointing. The tri tips were of good size, but just okay. Potatoes were just okay too. I was given a complementary apple donut dessert (which was kind) but tasted no bueno. The jojos ice cream on top was bomb but the chutney underneath was not good and the donut was dry. Overall, highly disappointed with the vibe, taste, and service! I feel like it's suited best for a couple and to come on a quieter night would have made it a better experience. You have no choice but to sit on patio with a party of 7. Will not return - sadly!! (Our $450 bill was also shocking!) one glass of wine ordered...sigh

I had called earlier that week inquiring about a corkage fee, as well as if there were any brunch drink/mimosa specials (like a bottle w juice type thing most brunch restaurants do on weekends). I was so discouraged by the hostess I almost cancelled my reservation. I purposely made sure to call at an "off time" so as to not be disruptive, and the best answer I got was "ummmm i think the corkage is $25." And to the mimosa question, "yeah I mean, we don't do bottomless but we have mimosas and I think we have a bottle special." So unhelpful- if she didn't know, she should confirm. I believe it was the same hostess when we dined, who, because we ended up seated right next to the dj (more minus points, who wants to be seated there, let alone when he is setting up, and while we made a reservation and were celebrating his birthday), moved us to outside at the front and we could see on her phone texting more than once. So, we sit. Taylor starts our order (very nice!), and we ask about drink specials, she cites of course we can have a bottle of mimosas. But there are no specials. So the bottle of prosecco is $63 plus $5 for orange juice. INSANE. But again, this is why I had called. Had the hostess shared there was nothing offered other than what was online, we coulda brought our own and paid corkage. Since we were led to believe otherwise, we had no alcohol and instead just had coffee. Cue Miles: he took over for Taylor almost immediately. He was AMAZING! So nice, so helpful, really accommodating and just the right amount of suggestions and check ins. Truly, amazing. As was the food. We had the ricotta, the french toast, and the Benedict. All were great. And great prices for the food too. The coffee came out lukewarm and had apparently been brewed quite awhile ago but Miles was happy to bring out fresh. I had put on the reservation that it was a birthday, and Taylor had asked if we were celebrating anything, and I told her it was my boyfriend's birthday, to which she eagerly explained they love celebrating birthdays at Waverly. Imagine my surprise when ultimately it was not again acknowledged or celebrated in any way. Perhaps because Miles took over for Taylor, but if it's on the reservation, you'd think I wouldn't have to address it again, much less multiple times. All in all, a very mixed review- there were some exceptional pieces of our experience (Miles, Taylor briefly, and the actual food), but there were a lot of misses too. Super disappointing that this was a birthday brunch because the misses really impacted the experience.
