First, it's a red dog! It should be to be an authentic Carolina Dog. Tasty. This hot dog is assembled properly, with mustard on the bun under the dog. Then the onions, and chili. Slaw on top (although I prefer chili on top). Slaw is finely chopped, and sweet. Onions fresh and crunchy. The chili was not remarkable , but good. Could have used some mire chili. Bun NOT toasted which takes off points. All in all, a good hot dog, but not the best in Wilkes County. Two dogs, fries, and a drink for $11.50. This special doesn't appear on the menu, so you guys need to know. We went for this Special today the 29 th of May. We brought along our best friend Mrs Beckie, and we all had the Special. Wow, wow, wow, don't miss this if you like pork chops! Without a doubt one of the best tasting pork chops I ever had. The nostalgia is worth the visit. The food wasn't bad but wouldn't bring me back. Service was prompt and friendly.

Great place. Really busy at noon but they got to me within about 5 minutes. Not too bad considering packed house. I had the bacon cheeseburger fixed the way I like it and an order of onion rings. Patties were smashed type and everything tasted fresh. Onion rings were think and crispy. I added salt to my onion rings because that's the way I like them. Stopped here for lunch around noon on a Friday on our way to the mountains. We were seated immediately but tables quickly filled up and there was a line out the door for pick up. The Friday special was chicken salad, fruit salad, a hunk of homemade cake of your choice and a drink for $7.95. The chicken salad was fabulous. Kids ordered chicken fingers, toasted cheese sandwich, bacon cheeseburger and fries and all enjoyed. Husband waited in line a long time to pay. The cashier apologized and explained that it was because it was chicken salad Friday. He shared a few fun facts. They make 85 lbs of chicken salad every Friday and have been doing it for 31 years. The fastest they ever sold out was 20 minutes! Recommend this place if you're ever passing through North Wilkesboro. read more

We found this place on Yelp as I was searching some where to try livermush. They had it, I tried it and loved it! The service was friendly and though it took some time for our take out order, they were quite busy, the offered coffee while I waited. I was so excited to try this place. I mean, how many places have a 5 star rating? (Granted, only 8 reviews, but still.) My excitement mounted when I walked in and discovered that it is clearly popular, cutely decorated, and staffed by an incredibly nice and helpful staff (every single one of them--owner, server, even the busboy--were very polite and accommodating, bending over backwards to meet the needs of the customers). "This is going to be AWESOME!", I said unto myself. But pretty soon after diving into my cheeseburger, hot dog all the way, fries, and sweet tea, I found myself somewhat distressed...almost alarmed. I wanted it to be amazing! But, alas, the food just wasn't very good. The cheeseburger was dry, dense, and bland. The sweet tea was severely watered down. The hot dog was also bland. The slaw was ok, but the chili was a major disappointment--big chunks of ground beef with no chili flavor at all. Hot dog chili should be chopped very fine and should taste like....well, chili. I don't think the cook even waved a bottle of chili powder over the ground beef much less sprinkled any on it. I felt a sense of duty somehow to save this rating from what was looking like 2 stars. The owner suggested earlier that their spicy pimento cheese was delicious, so I ordered a cup. It was indeed quite good, and it made a valiant effort to save the cheeseburger. Friday is also chicken salad day, and the owner asked me if I would like to sample it. I declined at first, but at this point took him up on his offer. It was very tasty. So this is a cute little diner located in downtown Wilkesboro and is owned and operated by an amazingly nice group of people. But the food was hit or miss for me. read more

Happy to say lunch is delicious too! The homemade chicken salad and egg salad are to die for. YES, it's really homemade! Onion rings and fries are crispy and piping HOT! My family and I we're ending our vacation in Boone at about 12:00pm, back on our way to Miami, we had not had any breakfast, searched on yelp and this place popped up... breakfast was over at 10:30 am, however they did not even hesitate, they prepared our breakfast for me and my family. Service was incredible, food was delicious! Whether your driving thru or staying in this adorable town, do yourself a favor and stop by!!! Would give it 10 stars if I could!!!! read more

We both ordered a bacon cheeseburger. One with fries and one with onion rings. The burgers were top notch! Tasted fresh and great. I wasn't a fan of the type of leafy lettuce they used so I just removed it. The tomato and onion was cold and fresh. I wasn't a fan of the onion rings. They were frozen and not hand made. The owner was super nice and stopped to speak with us at our table. He suggested menu items and brought out some made from scratch pimento cheese. It was delicious. Nice little diner spot. read more

Ever had a craving for a delicious home cooked meal? This is the best place in town for that. They serve breakfast and lunch and everything is freshly made. I love their chicken noodle soup and i visit this diner 2 times a week. Also they have daily specials which are great. They also have this genuine diner feel to them.
