This is America's oldest tavern and I love how this restaurant was steeped in history, frequented by George Washington himself. The space was expansive containing many rooms, beautiful decor, with really cool live music going on in the main area. My friend and I chose comfortable couch seats in the corner by the fireplace, which felt cozy and intimate. We started off with Grilled Flatbread, which consisted of roasted butternut squash, caramelized onions, shaved Brussel sprouts, Gruyère, chili bacon jam, along with garlic puree. I really enjoyed this. The flatbread was thin, delightfully crispy, while the cheese was satisfyingly melty; veggies were cooked perfectly; and bacon jam added a nice touch. For the entree, I ordered the Duck Hamilton, which came with orange, gran marnier glaze, with a side of sweet potato mash. There were 2 decent size pieces of the duck and it was absolutely delicious! The skin was amazingly crunchy and the duck itself was succulent, juicy, and well seasoned. The gran marnier glaze was full bodied and added a slight sweetness, while the orange gave the dish a citrusy freshness. Sweet potato mash was tasty with some warm spices mixed throughout. I also tried my friend's '76 Famous Pork Chop, which was grilled, double cut Berkshire pork chop, paired with Hudson Valley apple brandy glaze. This was tender and oh so flavorful, especially with the well made sauce. For dessert, I went with the Chocopeanutbutta Pie. I also had Chai tea with milk and honey, which was full of spices and comforting. The pie contained chocolate crust and peanut butter filling with more chocolate. This was quite decadent. The peanut butter and chocolate together was rich, velvety smooth and heavenly. I had a taste of the Salted Caramel Boudino, which was a pudding, with Oreo crumbles and salted pretzel rod. This was light, airy, fluffy, with true flavor of caramel shining through. Service was excellent. Our water was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. Everything came out in a timely manner and we were well taken care of from start to finish. I would definitely return to try the Black Angus New York Sirloin, Salmon Terrine, and Apple Crunch.

We made a reservation for 5 at 6 pm. There were parking lots left in the front of the building. And there was live music today!!! We sat in the patio. We were attended to immediately. We all chose our drinks, and they were promptly brought out. I tried the historical Washington ale. It was creamy and delicious. It was one thing to try the historical drink. Yummy!!! We ordered food to share. Caeser salad as starters Then mussels, fillet mignon medallion skewers, crab cake, salmon terriere, French fries and dessert. We had flourless chocolate decadence and hannah's apple crunch. We also ordered mac and cheese for our toddler. All the food was delicious. The medallion were very nicely done. The crab cake was succulent, so was the salmon. The mussels were good and succulent. And our servers came out to check on us. We loved it. One point to note: It would be better if they had updated the restaurant's menu on their website. And to improve their online presence.

I only came for drinks but I instantly fell in love with the charm of this place and would like to come back for lunch or dinner. There's so much history here. The staff is friendly and welcoming, especially Hudson (the golden retriever) who gave us a very warm greeting when we walked in the door.

Cool spot if you're into history and ghosts. Decent gluten free selection as well. I got the diver scallops, which were cooked well but one of my scallops had grit in it... maybe a bunch of sand in it that wasn't cleaned well? Risotto was a bit mushier than expected. Wasn't a fan of the red wine drizzle either. Burger had a great smoky flavor to it and the fries were crispy.

We had brunch and celebrated our anniversary there on 12/20/20. We had photos with Santa and paid the photographer cash. But haven't received our photos in the email. Was the photographer in-house staff? How can we contact her to get our pictures?

Hello! We did hire outside of the restaurant for the photographer however we'd be happy to reach out to her to resubmit the photos to you. Please give us a call at the restaurant with your email information and we'll make sure you get the photos… Read more

The menu looked amazing and we're excited but we're worried we weren't dressed appropriately, Caroline insured us we woke fit in just fine. I personally love to dine at the bar when possible especially with a great bartender like Izzy. We were the first ones there by accident which can feel funny but Izzy was so warm and welcoming and very eager to meet us and tell us about the epic menu and the show stopping desserts. We told Izzy our drink preferences and he nailed it each drink. We started with a dozen oysters that were incredible and shocked perfectly. Then followed that with the bone marrow which had a tasteful amount of chimichurri sauce and a side of crunchy salt to use for your liking. It was delicious! We were temped to next get the octopus but needed room for the "bar only specials" which is a brilliant idea very unique. It was a wagu blend cheese burger with arugula and a delicious black garlic spread and perfectly cooked fries. Perfect for sharing! A dinner isn't complete without an espresso martini! I highly recommend this place to any food enthusiast and fan of wine, spirits and excellent desserts. Lastly the decor was also amazing. The chef's not only designs top notch desserts he also did the wood work art along the bar. I also loved the pictures of all the people in the back of the restaurant over the course of there decades of business. Lastly the history is incredible it use to be the village hall and jailhouse! They incorporated the jail into a wine cellar that seats two people for a fun drink before or after dinner. Highly give this place a 10 out of 10 for excellent food, drink, service and vibes! Check them out and tell Izzy Stacey says hi!

There is a beautiful raw bar area, lots of seating, and overall just a really good atmosphere for a group lunch or even drinks after work. The staff was on point the entire time. We were a pretty big group and everything still came out smoothly and nobody ever felt forgotten which I appreciated. We started with oysters and they were fresh and really good. Definitely one of the better things we ordered. The fried calamari was okay but not something I would specifically come back for. The Caesar salad was actually really good and I liked that it had anchovies in it because a lot of places skip that now. I ordered the lobster roll and thought it was the perfect lunch portion. Enough food without feeling too heavy after. Other people at the table ordered burgers, steaks, and pizzas and everyone seemed happy with their meals. The pizzas especially went fast. Overall really good experience. Good food, great service, nice atmosphere, and a menu with enough variety that everyone found something they like.

TVs on. Area was crowded with very loud bargoers. People bumping our chairs, and we honestly could not hear ourselves think. Service was slow. The food was decent. I enjoyed my linguini fruit de mar which had a fresh tomato sauce and lots of different types of seafood. Kids enjoyed the pasta too. My wife had the fig and prosciutto pizza which had that nice sweet fig taste. The apple beignet was delicious but I would not call it a beignet - more like a... pocket? Portions were sizable.
