Otto's Full Service is in a great location in Piermont that used to be a gas station. It's really cool how the space has been converted. It's vibey with a big space that allows for weddings / bdays / dinner parties, etc. They offer free valet parking as parking in Piermont can be hard to find. I really wanted to enjoy Otto's Full Service but unfortunately did not. We came for Sunday brunch and were seated next to the piano. At times, it was difficult to conversationally but cool at the same time. I will add that the brunch menu felt very random - you go from fried Cajun oysters to a fried chicken sandwich or a beef gyro. The food was good - must try the fried Cajun oysters! The buttermilk pancakes were tasty as well. They were bananas foster so it was like eating dessert. The service was not as good. Our server seemed to avoid us as much as possible, it was clear she didn't want to be there. We even heard her tell the hostess that she didn't want anyone else to be seated in her section and it wasn't that busy. She never came back to ask us if we wanted more drinks. They need to work out some kinks. Had Mother's Day Brunch and the service was pretty bad. It started at the bar in which the bartender over charged for drinks. Than after being seated we were not greeted at the table after sitting for quite some time. Complimentary Prosecco and truffles were part of the price fix menu. After I paid I had to ask for the Prosecco which when arrived was half a glass. No truffles. No salt and pepper at the tables. Probably won't be going back read more

I was not offered an apology for the multiple issues we experienced, including the band-aid in our take-home container. Instead, I was asked why I hadn't deleted a picture from my review, as they believe I have "made my point." Otto's contact speaks volumes. I was prepared to give Otto's three stars. And then we found a bandaid in the to go box that the server packed with our bread. Speaking of service, she was the only one working the dining room and although it wasn't full, there were still about six or seven tables. There were delays in getting bread and drinks. Speaking of drinks, my daughter's mocktail had a bug in it and it took forever to get a replacement. I blame the manager who should've been helping his server out. I had the ramen. It was pretty good. My daughter had the rigatoni Calabrese and it had a strange flavor profile I couldn't put my finger on. Hubby had the burger and liked the patty but the fries were very salty. Dessert seemed promising with a chocolate soufflé cake. The pastry chef clearly doesn't know what a soufflé is. It was a fudgey cupcake. It was tasty, but not soufflé. I won't be back. read more

Food and service are excellent. The venue itself is large with inviting atmosphere. The live piano was entertaining and lovely for a beautiful Sunday afternoon.. Disappointed that people can apparently just bring dogs inside their purses to the bar and dining area (hanging the poor thing onto the back of the chair, because it's in a bag) and nothing is said...but I guess when you know people who work there, all goes out the window.... I doubt if I showed up with my golden I'd be allowed past the hostess station. read more

We came for a weekend brunch. Recommend: Cajun fried oysters app (if you like oysters). It was lightly fried, full bodied, well-seasoned and delicious. Ambience was warm and cozy. There was a grand piano on one side of the dining area. Classy. A pianist was playing when we arrived. Cubano sandwich was at best--mediocre. The pork was a little chewy and a bit overdone. I did not really enjoy the drink either-- Brooklyn bee sting... it did have a kick and it wasn't a good one. The French toast was enjoyed, but then again, I feel like you can get this from a nice diner well done so it was nothing fantastic to rave about. All in all, the food we tried left a bit to be desired.. with the exception of the fried oysters. Perhaps the other menu items would've been better? Not sure if we would be back.. read more

Really special spot. I wasn't expecting much when I heard that the place my family used to go to get our cars inspected had become a restaurant, but I was blown away. The tuna tartare cups were flavorful and delicious, and my mussels were phenomenal. The desserts were great as well. David Kaliff purchased this old service garage in 2018 for $1.2 million and turned it into a new American restaurant and bar in the heart of Piermont village. We made reservations for a very late brunch since I wanted to peruse the farmer's market beforehand. We got sat and were immediately impressed with the decor. First thing we noticed was that the host doesn't drop menus when you get sat. Unfortunately the long wait for a menu was foreshadowing. GM Joshua Alvarez (gorgeous local NY photographer and an Aries, just like me!), impeccably dressed in a summer suit in the DEAD of fall, loafers sans socks, wore a beautiful curly mane and was seen walking around from the main room to a private room and checking the expo line constantly. He did see our table, saw us waiting for some attention, met my gaze a few times, but he was pretty busy with the private party in the other room. Word was his sister was there and you know, family first! No worries, Assistant GM Sharard E Hart was there so we waited for him to greet us and maybe assure us that we'd be taken care of soon...Maybe drop a couple of menus and offer some recommendations. Unfortunately that didn't happen either. I looked over at my husband, growing skinnier by the minute. I looked around trying to catch someone's eye and thankfully a server came by and acknowledged we had been waiting a while and apologized. He let us know our server would be with us soon. Finally Bill arrived. He reminds me of Dane Cook, very polite and a bit jittery. He offered us water and we gave our drink orders. I saw my H.B.I.C. Cocktail from a small window to the bar just sitting there, losing its frost. Oh, boy. We need runners! GM Josh was purely there for aesthetics in his pale sage suit and his assistant was there for the vibes because they did not come by at all to touch our table or help out poor Bill. That's okay. A long while later I was able to order our food and an even longer while later the aguachile app came out. It was lackluster, spicy, I could taste seasonings but no salt. Our entrees took so long I was about to just ask for the check, we were starving at that point. My husband even had time to go pick up a pie from the farmers market and he admitted he almost bought a snack there! Without me! The entrees finally came and I didn't let Bill leave immediately. I asked for the check, I didn't want to wait any longer--there's barely any sunlight left in the day and we had a long drive home back to Jersey. Bill apologized again, we chowed down, and when the check came I dropped my card to not waste time. Bill offered us free coffee or dessert but we were ready to go home, thanks Bill. I noticed a commotion at the expo line, Bill must've let Chef Phil know what was going on and I braced myself to get waterboarded with a waterfall of apologies. Chef Phil offered to take care of us the next time we visit but I wanted to nip that idea in the bud, there is no next time. I was there THIS time. What happened? Then Sharard wanted to say a few words of apology as well and even offered us his card claiming he was too busy to stop by our table. Piermont, NY has been an artist enclave and hipster hangout since drum circles and the soul patch were invented so it's hardly a stretch to imagine that an upscale, foodie influx was bound to follow. Otto's best of breed when it comes to feeding the Tesla and Lexus carnivores that are drawn to the village. Steaks and chops proliferate in an atmosphere that's way cooler than you... and me. The service was spot on, the meal enjoyable and the uphill trek back to a more ordinary life, regretted. Five stars for the journey. read more

Del the waitress was the best. The ambiance was cozy and inviting. There was live music and it was very nice. My wife and I both had the beet salad. Wow! Best salads we have ever had. It was stellar! I had the lamb chops. They were cooked perfectly and seasoned wonderfully. The potatoes and the spinach were wonderful. My wife had the Spaghetti a la Norma. It was just over the top. Now the deserts...WOW...just WOW! My wife had the hazelnut tiaramasu and it was fantastic I had the apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream. It was off the hook! After our first visit to Otto's, find myself nostalgic thinking about years of taking our cars to Gerhardt's for service and inspections. The vibe of the garage, wait area and even Otto's respectful customer service always felt like it was existing in a bygone era. Otto's Full Service pays homage to it's former establishment but with a modern restaurant that is quite impressive in scale and decor with a fun vibe and really good food. It feels like it is already a new anchor in Piermont in the post Xavier's era. Our party of 4 had a nice evening starting by ordering most of the apps on the menu with highlights being the fried oysters, java beef skewers, pork sliders and great salads. Entrees were all good including my burger and wife's pork adobo. Only hiccup (and deduction of 1 star) was near 1/2 hour wait for cocktails to arrive at our table in any timely fashion after they were ordered. The delay was met by the manager with no apology let alone offer from him to take the round off the bill. read more

The food was great at Otto's. We went for brunch on a Sunday at 1pm. Otto's Filling Station in Piermont, NY has a lot of history to it. Having once been a full service gas station, I remember going there when I had my first car. In those days, Otto the owner was still operating it (early 1980's) eventually passing the reigns over to his son David, a very mellow and kind person. Otto took every opportunity (or even without given one) to flirt with women of all ages. No female was too old or too young, as witnessed by me seeing Otto hit on my mother and my mother witnessing Otto hit on me. This always seems to be left out of the description when historians include personality traits of his.... haha. Start putting that in! My sister ordered the Beef & Lamb Shawarma. It looked yummy, hence she wolfed it down (although often her meals are inhaled - hence her large size for such a short woman). My nephew and I ordered the Pulled Pork Barbecue, Otto's is known for its smoker. Although this is a sandwich, it was indeed a full plate. In addition to the pulled pork on brioche with homemade potato chips AND fries, pickles were thrown into the mix with a creole romalade, adding even more flavor to the pork sandwich. We left no signs of the meal previously set before us, devouring every morsel. Disappointingly so, the drinks we ordered tasted barely passable, in addition to having a weak pour. I've been to Otto's a handful of times due to the good food, but the bartenders here are hit or miss. With a beautiful interior and outdoor seating, it's too bad the service is inconsistent as well. Sometimes one is completely neglected. This visit the waitress serving us went overboard with attentiveness. I prefer that rather than feeling invisible while my stomach is rudely grumbling and growling, aching for attention. Two weeks in advance, I spoke to the hostess Hannah, requesting a table in the back room by the piano. I've experienced a very noisy front room when there's an adjacent full table. The hostess confirmed my request. Having called to verify the reservations the night before our seating, Hannah again reaffirmed my table for that room. Upon arrival, I was told there was a private birthday party in the back room. It seems rather careless the hostess wasn't aware of this one day prior. We ended up in the front room seated next to a table with two children under four, albeit cute little monkeys, but loud and whiny nonetheless. After almost two years or so that this restaurant opened up, I decided to eat there tonight ( Because as usual, Basque had a waiting time of 45 minutes) Anyhow, the service was spectacular, from Valet, the waiter and the hostess. However, the menu was a total confusion. It had Italian plates, Vietnamese, American (the usual burgers, fries) and BBQ. I ordered the most expensive Vietnamese meatballs and rice noodles, which contained absolute no flavor, my daughter ordered BBQ ribs which were not cooked with the marinade and the meat was not 100% tender. The sweet potatoes fries were good and the Driving Ms. Daisy cocktail was awesome. The vibe and the setting/decor is great and it is located on a prime area right in the Conner where the gas station and car repair shop used to be ages ago. Overall, not impressed with their overly priced, presentable plates and menu. Need some flavors and a kick to it. I wont dare ordering pasta, because I have a feeling that I will be disappointed. Piermont NY is great little town by the pier full of restaurants. I was excited to try Otto's which is a new restaurant in town. It has a nice outdoor seating area and a couple of comfortable trendy indoor dining rooms. The bar is connected to the outdoor space. In the summer months, I could see it will be a hopping gathering spot. Bruce and I ordered a couple of drinks, the Barata and BBQ Pork Sliders appetizers, and Vietnamese Noodle. The appetizers were great, but the Vietnamese noodle lacks in flavor. After our dinner, we moved to the bar for an espresso martini. It was late and it's almost closing time, the lady bartender was visibly and audibly agitated wanting to finish her day of work, you can tell she wasn't very happy serving anymore patrons at the bar. For a classy restaurant to have the bartender rushing you out of the bar is kind of an uninviting experience. read more

This is my new favorite restaurant, and believe me, I live in Hoboken and we have enough restaurants here, But the places in Hoboken don't have this type of charm, ambiance, and atmosphere! The food is amazing and the staff is very lovely! Another reason I love this place is because they support live music. Been there several times and I love the whole Jazz vibe! Saw a band called "BLT" on Wednesday night, and they're my favorite band there so far! The management is very hospitable and aim to please. Did I mention the food? And the drinks are delicious! Excellent place to have dinner, or just sit back and relax, have a drink, and enjoy the music! Very cool place! read more

At one point we had no silverware and the bus boy literally plopped the silverware on the table and said you can take the silverware. The most interesting restaurant visit so far this year. The ambiance is great, eclectic and interesting. The smoke smell completely sent my appetite soaring, expecting some really good wood fired grub. I love the speakers with the high powered bass reflex system, so you can clearly hear the music at lower volumes. The heavy felt drapes and fabric chair tops offer a pleasant, warm sound environment, absorbing the stray annoying buzz. Service was top notch, and I observed a manager training his staff on table settings, etc. The food was mostly a win. Our drinks were small and average, not bad, but nothing to write home about. I don't mind paying Manhattan prices for cocktails, but I also expect Manhattan cocktails at that price point, inflation considered. Our appetizer of Burratta was well crafted and tasty. The texture of the fennel and orange salad was good, but the balance of acid, sweetness and salt was off. My daughter enjoyed her pizza entree. My wife reported her mahi mahi dish was very good. I ordered the pulled pork Adobo. And here lies the dichotomy of how the rest of my evening went. We were seated near the very neat open kitchen, which was amazingly clean and very quiet for a restaurant kitchen. But the chef, who obviously takes great pride in his dishes, was very intense and kept looking out to the floor, unsmiling, probably doesn't realize that he's scowling. I remarked to my wife, "If he had three little horns, he could be the Triceratops in The Land Before Time." Add to that, I had the best and worst of the evening in one dish, the pulled pork Adobo. Alas, I absolutely adored the pork, better than award-winning barbeque that I've tasted while visiting multiple BBQ events. It was served with hearts of palm, olives and baby spinach, all components that contain a great deal of moisture. So I was absolutely floored that the chef decided it was a good idea to put my crispy fried sweet potato fries underneath all of that moisture. Why didn't you just take them out and throw them on the floor, I would've enjoyed them the same, which was not at all. I know it's a personal problem, but how in the world do you craft the most amazing wood fired BBQ meat and then soak fries in liquid? I glared back at Triceratops! But in all, the dessert we had was the best part, the Chocolate Souffle was amazing and calmed the beast inside, much to my wife's relief. Otto's has an amazing vibe and super cool interior. We were very excited when when we entered. Things quickly deteriorated with no menus for 10 minutes or drink order. Drinks were ordered and came in a reasonable time. Drinks were very good. We placed an appetizer order along with or main dishes. After an exceptionally long time our appetizers arrived that were slightly above room temperature. Had they been at an appropriate temperature they would have been very good. An additional round of drinks were ordered that this time took a ridiculous amount of time to arrive. At the 1:45 minutes mark make we asked about the delay and were offered a bread bowl as a conciliation for no food. 2:00 hours in and still no food we decided it was time to go elsewhere and asked for our check. We received some apologies from the manager and were comped our appetizers and drinks. Every restaurant has an off day but this was ridiculous. Place has a lot of potential but lots of issues.
