I first came to The Acne Spot because of (obv) my acne problems. Never had this many when I was in my teens, but it all came out when I hit 25. It was horrible, and it really affected my self-confidence. It didn't help that I work around kids who would often innocently ask what is in my face or what happened to my face. ‍ I started in the Acne program in July 2019, and while in the 'purging stage' I thought my skin is getting worse and that I will regret coming to this place. BUT I trusted my estheticians (shoutout to Meg, Megan, and Brie) and after 6 months my skin became clearer. I no longer have to use makeup to cover the redness or little bumps on my face. Today was my first visit. I made a mistake and scheduled my appointment half an hour later on my phone making me late for the appointment. I called in and was taken in regardless (there was a cancellation after me) but still I was very grateful. In regards to the consultation - it was top notch. I've received facials, peels, etc at a dermatologist and usually go to the Omni La Costa resort. I can honestly say that it was better than both. I can't believe I missed this place while living in the Bay Area. Of all the facialists I've seen they've been the best at clearing and maintaining my skin. Whatever they do, it works. They start with a consult, gear you up for bi-weekly facials until you're clear and ready to move on to monthly facials for maintenance. Their products are mild and reasonably priced. I started coming when I was pregnant so my experience will be different for most because of certain restrictions. I've been going to the Acne Spot for a few months now and I'm very happy with my results so far! I've struggled with acne for years now and I've tried everything from Proactiv to Accutane pills, none of which has worked for me. The Face Reality products that I've been using are working for me, but you have to be dedicated and use them everyday religiously to get the results you want/need. You also need to be prepared to spend at least a couple hundred dollars a month but I look at it as an investment to clean, clear happy skin and ultimately you can't put a price on that! Out of desperation I brought my teenager here for several months to try to resolve her acne issues. Unfortunately, after spending a lot of money on skin care products and the twice a month treatments, her skin was in worse shape than before we visited. I always felt pressured to join their club/membership and almost always was given a suggestion for a new product to buy each time we visited. I'm writing my first ever Yelp review because Olivia is just *that good* :) for real, she has worked miracles on my skin and completely transformed the way it looks! Of all the estheticians I've seen -- and let me tell you, I've been around the block -- Olivia is hands down my favorite. **Context: I was on Accutane for a long ass time in my early 20s, my dermatologist said it was the worst case of acne she had ever seen and it honestly disfigured my whole face, people would avert their eyes in public :'( I know how painful it can be living with cystic acne when you're young, but just know YOU WILL GET THROUGH IT! Please know you are more than what you look like on the outside and let your lived experience transform you into a gentler, more loving and empathetic person. After Accutane, I was on hormonal birth control and would periodically have to take gnarly antibiotics to improve breakouts (can you call it a breakout if your skin is never really clear? Lol). Once my husband and I were ready for babies, I stopped all meds and my skin freaked the f**k out... it was almost as bad as pre-Accutane almost 10 years ago. It was around this time that I started going to the Acne Spot. Outside of having clear skin, Olivia has improved the texture of my skin DRAMATICALLY! I remember being heartbroken after Accutane and realizing all those *extremely blown-out* pores would never go away, it was scarring I'd have to live with. While that's true, you can barely notice them now, because again... OLIVIA IS AMAZING. My POV: - Absolutely worth it, if you can afford it. I've spent a little over $3K since starting their acne program 6 months ago. Prepare yourself, it might get worse before it gets better. This part really sucks when you're shelling out some serious dough and don't love what you've seen by the 2-3 month mark. STICK WITH IT!!! I was a nursing student at a local university and I have to say, that my stress, my horrible eating habits, lack of exercise, and lack of time in general has led me to break out like never before in my life. Honestly, the acne looked bad but it was not as bad as how it felt. My face simply hurt-ed (sorry for the lack of a better expression). Desperate to find a solution for my painful acne, I began to yelp and came across this gem and, when I say "gem," I mean it truly, a GEM. I decided to give the acne clinic a try and O-M-G. It was an amazing experience. With my hectic school and clinical schedule, the ladies were extremely accommodating and wonderful. Seeing Annelien at the front desk was always nice cause she always had a smile on her face and was super welcoming. Nicole was also great about returning your phone call if a voicemail was left for them, even on her days off! Ladies, thank you for the automated text messages to remind you of your appointment, they saved me a couple of times. I had the pleasure of working with Carly, my main gal. I fully trusted her. Carly was so funny and cool! It was ALWAYS a blast while I was there with her. When I was getting my acne care and treatment from Carly, it was a de-stressing time for me. I laughed so much, which was greatly appreciated after a stressful day. When you go in for the acne clinic consultation, they tell you that you need to be committed to following the set regimen for several months (I think they said ~ 3 months. I don't remember too clearly), which was absolutely critical. I tried very hard to do just as they told me because they really came off to me like they knew their stuff and I am SO glad I did, because I saw amazing results! If you don't think that you can follow the set plan they have for you (which is different for each individual), then you probably will not benefit from this clinic and shouldn't bother wasting your time and money. The acne clinic is definitely a process. You shouldn't go into thinking that after a month your skin is going to look amazing. It takes time and commitment. By month 3 and 4 is when I started to see some amazing results, like drastic results. It was like I was initially bombarded with old deep cysts, which disappeared all of a sudden! I am not even joking. You have to allow all the congested acne deep in your skin to come out before it starts to look amazing! Don't get discouraged after a month or so. Trust me, it'll be worth it. Just trust them. It does get a bit pricey, just cause you need to use the acne products offered there for the acne clinic, but I personally think, even as a student, it was well worth my money. After buying all the recommended products and having several treatments, the acne scarring on my face got worse due to extractions. I do not believe this clinic is rite for darker skin tones. You are also required to toss out your makeup that contains "pore clogging ingredients" but, when I went to get color matched so I could use their makeup line, there were no colors that were even close to my skin tone. read more

To start I have to say that this review is looooong over due. I've had horrible acne since I was younger and have tried everything... including two rounds of Accutane! I stumbled onto Flawless Skin Care & Acne Clinic while on yelp after I had an awful breakout. After reading all the great reviews I knew I had to give it a try. I signed on to the Acne Clinic Program and was very optimistic from the start. The program consists of a 3-month program where you come in about every 2 weeks for a specific acne facial and product adjustments if needed. After that time you can graduate from the program and extend your visits given the results of your clear skin. Annelien was my esthetician and we immediately hit it off. By my second visit I could see results and could not believe the change in my skin. Fast forward to 3 months later - I have graduated the program with complete clear skin (a few hormonal breakouts from time to time), and visit now every 6-8 weeks for a follow up facial and to stock up on product. All in all, I have to say that I would recommend the Acne Clinic Program to anyone who has struggled with acne. Their products are great and the girls that works there are amazing... especially Annelien! You won't be disappointed! Last, I want to point out that the treatments and products are somewhat expensive. However, you get what you pay for.
