Just left The Actors Photo Lab in Studio City. Had several headshots done for my family in acting. Marvin was extremely helpful in the set up, got me an extremely fair deal and the Headshots came out fantastic. I was referred by our Acting Coach, Aaron Metchik, and I am glad he sent us this way. If you're looking for a place to print your actor headshots then I have good news - you can stop searching! The Actor's Photo Lab is THE best photo lab in LA. They are the fastest, highest quality, and most wallet friendly company I found...PERIOD. I rolled in without an appointment and walked out in less than 30 minutes with all my headshots printed beautifully. They sit down with you for the set up so you can see exactly what they're doing. They offer advice if you need it or can sit by and knock out your exact specifications. And to top it all off, their team is super friendly. Marvin works super hard to get your photos done in no time straight. The turn around is really fast and photos are perfectly done. He was extremely patient with me as I was trying to figure out which font I liked best. He emailed at least 6 fonts to me showing what each one would look like on my 8x10. I've had great service both times I have ordered pictures from here. They are friendly and fast. I always have to have my items shipped and usually at the last minute but they always accommodate me. They've even shipped directly to my manager. The pictures look amazing and the finish is awesome. They have a service where they can add the border and your name to the pictures for you. They also offer editing services but I have never had to use it. I'll definitely come back again. read more

We have been using Actors's Photo Lab for 3 years now for the layout and printing of all of my daughter's headshots. Quick, affordable, good quality headshots, and they had them ready for me in less than three hours for pick-up. Border and name look nice, and they added my agency logo for me, at no charge. They can also note if you're SAG, equity, SAG eligible, etc., below your name. Final product looks great, and the lack of rush fee is very appreciated. I can't believe how fast they got this done! Unnecessary mini-rant: I noticed that the lowest-star review on here is from someone who found a customer service rep unpleasant. I happened to get that same rep, and didn't have any problems. The other reviewer's complaint was basically, "This person didn't go out of his way to be extra nice." Sure, it's great when people do that, but is it really a prerequisite for decent service? Shouldn't extra nice be... extra? I am looking for good headshots, here, not a best friend. Anyway, I encourage fellow Yelpers to use this service to build people up when they do a good job, and not pick on their tiniest foibles to cut them down. read more

Agree with other reviewer. The people are incredibly rude. Tried to charge me for a service a didn't end up getting, and then were snarky when I called them out on it, telling me "Next time, don't change your mind". Is that how you get repeat customers? Also, they have a TERRIBLY STUPID policy of putting a non- removable sticker telling you to reorder on one of your headshots, rendering it unusable. See the photo. Headshots are headshots are headshots. I'd way rather go someplace closer, cheaper, and NICER. read more

As a photographer, some of my clients have printed here and I'm always impressed how great the images turn out. Its one thing to see images digitally on the screen and another to hold a great print in your hand. They're super sharp and the colors look great. I'm also an actor and had an opportunity to see the product for myself. I have to say they were very kind, professional, and delivered the best headshots I've had printed in a long time. Prices are great along with superb quality. I believe I ordered late in the day one evening, and they were available early afternoon the very next day. I can't recommend them enough to fellow actors and my clients. read more

The folks at Actor's Photo Lab have been Awesome both times I've used them, which has been urgently and at the last moment BOTH times! I don't live in the valley or I would print headshots there ALL of the time. Usually, I order online ahead of time and have it shipped to me, but every once in a while I run out of headshots and need them fast. I emailed Mitch the photos, copy, layout design and a explanation of what I wanted on my postcard. I knew that what I was asking for was impossible due to size restrictions. Ordered for same day. They had everything ready on time. Great customer service. I ordered headshots with my resume printed on the back and I'm overjoyed I don't have to resize, cut and staple my resume. Cutting a resume even with a paper cutter is not my strong suit. I try to be fair and transparent in my reviews, avoiding hyperbole. It's best to be honest since…read morethese business are people's livelihoods. This was a horrible experience, as I would imagine even the business would recognize. I posted on reddit my situation about needing slides from the late 90s digitized and then some also printed for an exhibit. Reddit users suggested Valley Photo Service. I loved the idea of supporting a locally owned and seemingly historic small business. I called in late April and I confirmed that they could help my situation. A nice guy on the phone confirmed that they could do a bulk scan of my slides. I told him how they were digitized once before in 2003 but I imagine the technology had improved. He agreed that just even a bulk scan would be better than what was done back in 2003. We agreed I'd bring them in, do a bulk scan, check out the quality, and then from that bulk scan, I would pick out a dozen to print out for an upcoming exhibit. I drive in on May 1 and he is not there, but another guy is and he is very nice. He says that I should consider not doing a bulk scan but instead a higher price (per slide) flatbed scan. But we don't know if the bulk would be better or not and we're talking dozens and dozens and dozens of slides. So he suggests that at .80 per slide, we do them all bulk and check out the quality first. He says I'll get a link to check them out online when they are done. A week goes by. Another week goes by. I call and a woman says they'll get that to me. Finally I get a link and the slides look really crappy. Worse than when a bulk scan was done in 2003. How could the quality get worse? The slides have been in an archival quality box. I call and a guy says he's not sure. No one can of course confirm what the previous 2003 digitizers did; though I know they did bulk scan not flatbed. Perhaps they did some sort of "apply to all" adjustment of a filter or something? Either way, they say that they'll have someone call me back to think of a path forward. A week goes by. I then call and get the man who owns or manages the place. Very nice and attempts to help. I express my frustration about the time it's taking and that I have to keep calling them, seeing as I already paid. He said not to worry, he would definitely take a few slides, scan them on the flatbed and call me back with the comparison to my previous scans. A week and a half go by and I call to express my frustration that I still haven't heard from him. A woman says that she is so sorry, that the person who digitizes slides is there that day, but busy, so she'll have her call me within hours. Two weeks go by, I drive across town and I ask for my slides back. A woman gets them and asks "was everything done to your satisfaction." I say, "on the contrary nothing was done at all to my satisfaction." Not bitchy, not loudly, I just say it plainly as a fact. She hands me the slides and says, "oh, well here you go. Thank you." So that's my story of a two month long process of trying to get slides digitized. Was anyone rude? No. But did they communicate clearly? No. Mixed messages about possibilities. No calls back when they said. No finished work, after two months, nothing usable. And you would think after taking almost 100 dollars and a customer says they did not help at all, an employee might pause and ask what happened. Nope. That's Valley Photo Service, in my experience.

I got my prints back from ISGO last week and they were terrible. omg, I was so mad that i spent 200 dollars on prints that I cant ever use. the quality of the lithos were really bad and on top of that, the retouching didn't get everything, color balance was off. I was completely pissed. a friend of mine told me about the actor's photo lab. I have to admit, i was a little hesitant at first because I had never heard of them and they are located in studio city which is a little pricey altogether. Nevertheless, I went anyway just to check it out. when I had called at first, I told the guy on the phone my problem and he told me to bring the pics by. he was very easy going and kind of put me at ease from his tone of voice. surely enough, went I went in, it was a breeze. he told me he could fix the problem. i had one last problem though... it was 6 pm already and I needed a good print for the next day. they closed at 6pm.... armen retouched and made me a print that night! how awesome is that? now that's what i call good customer service. also, check out their pricing- it beats the other photo labs by far. and its photo paper, not lithos! thank you so much guys! read more

Best place to print headshots in LA. I email them the photo with my formatting preference and they send me a digital proof super quickly. They always let me know if the photo quality isn't high enough and sometimes even have adjustments they recommend (crop or color correcting). They just really care that your headshot turns out well and that you are happy. If I ever need headshot in a pinch, they always accommodate. Always friendly when I pick up too! They're also cheap and will touch up your picture a little bit for you if you need it (with no charge!) before they print them out! These guys are fantastic! The prints were beautifully done, and inside of one week from sendoff to receipt back (I live in Seattle). And! Beau called me to discuss what I wanted and how I wanted the prints to look. I needed 300 headshots printed with the resume printed on back as well, and I needed them ultra fast to be put in gift bags being given out at Sundance. Great opportunity that required quality and speed in order for me to take advantage of it. Mitch came through in flying colors. I love this place. I've been in Hollywood for over 4 years now and since moving to Studio city, this is the only place I go. They are fast and extremely reasonably priced and I've never had any problems with the prints I've received! Super friendly, staff too! I needed a last-minute service they weren't able to provide and Marvin not only created a file that I could then take to another vendor, he also provided me the name of said vendor who could meet the deadline. The quality of their work is consistently fantastic. John clearly pays attention to the little details, the scans always come back looking beautiful, and I trust them completely with my film rolls with a process that I can't redo or recreate, precious moments. This is the place for indie filmmakers to get what they need at reasonable prices. Whether you are buying or renting they really have a good selection. As we all know, the realities of the industry have changed a lot over the past couple of decades. One of the things I like about Alan Gordon Enterprises is that it has really stayed up-to-date with what is going on with technology. This keeps them at the forefront of being able to offer very competitive services to its clients. Things like lights haven't changed that much in recent years. But, even for the subtleties that are needed to light certain scenes, Alan Gordon has the fixtures that can make it happen. Some people complain about rental equipment not always working from this company. For the most part that's not true. But sure, I've had that happen to me a few times as well in the past. But, the reality is, where else are you going to get that camera or that whatever at a reasonable price? And, as a filmmaker this is an occurrence you should be prepared for. This is why it's always important to have a back up for anything that you do not personally own and are sure that's going to work. Overall, Alan Gordon Enterprises is one of the legacy businesses of Hollywood. Keep the tradition alive!

Grace was incredible to work with from start to finish. She helped me create both a high-resolution scan and a museum-quality reproduction, so I can display the piece without worrying about damaging the original. I even sent the file back to the original artist, and he was genuinely impressed by the detail and accuracy of both the scan and the print. While I was there, I learned that POV has some of the highest-end scanning equipment available, systems typically found in institutional settings like the Library of Congress, and not something you'll come across at most commercial print shops. That definitely showed in the final result. Grace was extremely responsive, knowledgeable, and thoughtful throughout the entire process. She made spot-on recommendations for paper and print settings, helped with retouching and resizing the digital file, and clearly explained everything along the way. She was also very friendly and even provided helpful guidance on framing options. I highly recommend POV and Grace and will definitely be doing any future projects there.
