Let me start this off by saying that the ladies at the front desk are awful with their attitudes. Whenever they have to actually do their jobs they get annoyed at you. Especially if you have packages delivered and the postman has no sense in where to go. This happened a few times and they'd be irritated at me because of it. They are not people friendly at the front from my experience. Overall the apartments are very nice. They have a pool, hot tub, doggy wash center, and dog park. Very pet friendly and I loved living here with my husky Mika. I wish I could afford to live here on my own but the prices are too expensive for me. I was living there for 3 years, I do NOT recommend this apartment complex based on my experience living there. The biggest issue is the incredibly rude and unhelpful management office, any time I need a request or had questions, I was met with dismissiveness and never received any real solutions, like the cockroaches' problem. You are charged $5 a month for pest control, but the exterminator is nowhere in sight. Furthermore, the utilities and services are significantly overpriced for the value you receive. The final straw was when I moved out: I was shockingly charged over 800 dollars in "utilities fees" for what was to be only 15 days period with nobody in the apartment. This felt like a blatant and unfair cash grab, and they didn't return any money from the deposit, and I return the apartment in good condition. Lastly, the buildings are old and poorly maintained. Our experience living here for the last year (2024-2025) was extremely disappointing overall, they really deserve 1 star. I am only giving 2 stars because at least we had a roof over our heads, and because the maitenance crew were prompt, kind, and hard workers, which was great because our unit was so poorly built/cheaply fixed, that we had to submit multiple requests with them. Our unit was dirty upon move in: dead bugs on the floor, mystery stains and dirt, animal and human hair all over the floor and in washers/dryers and sliding door fixtures. Textured stains all inside cabinets (which were painted over) and all of the cabinet doors were all falling off of or loose on the hinges, and many of the drawers fell out every time they opened. Windows were single pane and let moisture in so they were extremely moldy and grimy. The front office women, especially Rocio, were unprofessional, insulting and condescending; she literally rolled her eyes at me when I asked her a simple question about move-out expectations. We were told multiple times that they have no answers to our questions, or received conflicting answers between them and the property manager. All their communication letters/emails were filled with typos and misspellings, even misspelling the name of the complex, which makes communication difficult to understand and unprofessional. Pricing is scammy "first month free" is a joke as they will trap you into a "12 month and 30 days" lease for "book keeping purposes" and then tell you it will cost 2 months rent plus "new tenant finder fees" to break the lease early. Mysterious charges every month which seem to fluctuate and are never listed. Plus they will make you pay for a professional cleaner or use their cleaning service when you move out even though, as I said, our unit was filthy when we moved in. Upon move out they charged us with dozens of mystery fees including 2x the water, sewage, and electric for the month that our lease ended. We got back less than half of our deposit for a unit which we cleaned top to bottom and had no damage in. We sent one maitenance request for mold in a cabinet, and when I went to screenshot the request for potential needs, it's been magically deleted. Not to mention there is frequent police activity within the complex: I've seen/heard multiple domestic issues, cops arresting neighbors from their units, and most recently, a cop carrying evidence bags from a unit. Outside the unit is what their website calls a "hiking trail" but is actually filled with unhoused people bathing/eating in the creek, smoking various substances right outside the complex, and using the bathroom directly on the walking path. We once found a used needle with brown substance inside laying on the path just a few steps past the apartment entrance. There are dozens of much nicer complexes for a similar/better price in Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park, do not waste your sanity and safety at the Alexandar. read more

First things first, I want to say when first coming to preview my apartment, Ryan, the apartment manager was so sweet and made us feel so welcome. The atmosphere was great, the apartment complex is very dog friendly which I love due to the fact that most apartment complexes won't allow animals. When coming to pick up my keys, the staff in the office were so welcoming. I've never had a problem with either my neighbors or my staff and I've been living here since late August. Life has never been better sense I moved out of The Alexandar. There is a couple of my old neighbors that I am friends with and still talk to. I was told by all of them things are getting worse and they are looking to move as soon as their lease ends. They tell me I would not believe the amount of moving trucks that come and go on a weekly basis. The cockroaches are still a problem. You are charged $5 a month for pest control but the exterminator is no where in sight. The utility bills are getting more expensive due to large amounts of people living in the apartments. The lease states no more than 5 people to a 2 bedroom apartment. Quite a few apartments have 10 people minimum living in them. These people are not listed on the lease. So the extra cost they make from using more water and producing more garbage is added onto your monthly payment. Sometimes the water bill and trash together can be $200 dollars alone. They still add on admin fees and other bills cost like natural gas used. All of the apartments are all electric with no gas appliances. The natural gas charges comes from the hot water used. The more people living in an apartment using hot water to shower and clean the dishes they use runs up the natural gas cost and is thrown on the other tenants to pay. The management of the apartments is fully aware and does nothing to help solve any of these issues. Let's not forget the parking. When you come during the day there is plenty of parking. The apartments allows 2 registered cars per household. Most people have 4 plus cars they park. So after 7:00pm parking is impossible to find. Don't be surprised if you find yourself walking a good distance to get to your apartment. Quite a few cars parked in the property have expired registration tags and stay in the same spot for weeks on end. Please go read some of my original reviews from when I was a tenant. You will be happy to did. The total cost of living in one of the Alexandra's apartment can be upwards of $2900 after the extra utility cost. They might advertise rent around $2500. But the extra cost they add on the top is $400-$500. read more

This is our second year in, and I enjoy every bit of it. I liked that there are amenities not just for humans, but for dogs too. I love the dog wash facility, it's clean and very convenient. I enjoy having a washer and dryer in my unit, it makes laundry so much easier. The maintenance staff is awesome. They're very fast and efficient in what they do. The absolute worst customer service and overall apartment in Sonoma. The ladies at the front desk have the worst attitude and they will just try to run all over you. Anytime "inspections" need to happen there's a 90% chance they won't show up but when the notice is left at the door they allow themselves a full week because they're "unable to plan" what apartment buildings they're going to each day. We also just recently had someone try to break into our apartment as well so clearly the "gated community" isn't very safe for people, let alone families with young children. read more

We originally gave The Alexandar Apartments a high rating when we first moved in primarily because Edward Trujillo and the maintenance crew and the office staff were outstanding and that is still the case although we moved in Oct 2021. The biggest reason for this very negative review is because we left one month before our lease would have been up primarily because the tenants upstairs were nightmare neighbors, letting their kids play basketball in the house, jump of the beds and run around the house at all hours of the day and night. They also had more than the maximum number of occupants allowed and most of the time there were at least 10 people in the house with usually about 6 of them being kids. Also the surrounding neighbors were very loud, with their teenagers hanging around right outside our windows late at night talking and laughing very loudly. After moving out and leaving the place in pristine condition, we were given an invoice for the extra 1.5 months rent due because we left before our lease was up for the reasons listed above. We had many emails, phone calls etc as back up for why we left early and that didn't matter. We heard nothing else from the management company until a year later when we received a call from a collection agency that if we didn't pay the balance due that day we would be reported to the credit bureaus immediately. There was no option to work out a payment plan either. DO NOT MOVE IN TO THIS COMPLEX, TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE MANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS WHICH WE DIDN'T EVEN SEE UNTIL WE HAD ALREADY MOVED IN. I just wanted to share my experience living at the Alexandar apartment complex so others can read. I had a horrible experience starting with the kids coming outside your window and banging on them and yelling until 11pm some nights it was even until 1am until they went home or their parents realized they were gone. We would ask them nicely to be quiet and they would continue to bang on our window when we are working from home. They should have a fence around the playground that locks when the time says too so that people that live around the park can sleep at night. Any conflict comes up and you want to talk to the office they are rude about it or ignore your messages. If they do respond they are rude and unprofessional. Ryan typing things like "lol" or "I'm not going to go back in forth with you anymore" when you send 1 email asking a question. We had to throw away half of our shoes that we owned because they were all covered in mold just from sitting in our closet. Working from home and staying in causes you to never wear your shoes and none of them were wet and just thrown in the closet, they were taken care of and at the top of our closet. The mold literally grows through the walls at this complex and is just covered with paint. I was constantly sneezing, coughing, and getting sick every other week at this complex!! The windows are single pane and are constantly dripping water and creating mold on my window seal. There was mold on the wall behind my bed as well where I slept every night. Before leaving I had to bleach clean all of the blinds as there was mold on the bottom of each blind. The complex also RAN MY CREDIT without asking my permission. I was due to move out in 17 days and they decided to run my credit and when I told them to reverse it they did not and were rude with me about it. I did not give my permission for it to be ran and that really pissed me off especially when I'm someone trying to work on my credit. Among other things, my car was hit in their complex and left red paint on my car and the office lady told me that their cameras do not work and there is nothing they could do to help me figure out who did it. I believe I was hit by a red work truck if you'd like to avoid parking near them! we created a maintenance ticket to have our windows looked at due to all the mold that was growing and all they did was put some caulking/silicone over it and then they painted it which did not stop the mold or the water from leaking through the windows. Also the pool was not open our entire lease so we didn't even get to experience that for over a year. Also One of the ladies in the office gives false information.She told us that it would be easy to remove somebody from the lease and add somebody else to it which apparently after speaking to Ryan and DeeDee in the office it's not that simple to switch somebody out on the lease she also told me when I called in letting her know that I was only staying till the 14th and that my rent is supposed to be cut in half she told me to pay the whole thing and they would refund me... like no. The actual answer is you have to write a check for your portion and bring it into the office because there is no way to do a half payment online also doesn't even make sense to pay the full amount and wait 3 to 4 weeks for a refund of almost $1500. As a military family we have been through our share of apartments. We feel lucky when we find one like the Alexander. Well maintained, gated and quiet. Units are in good shape and spacious layouts. Ed keeps the property in tip top shape and makes sure all maintenance requests are fulfilled in record time. Front office staff are always friendly and available to solve any issues. Pool, gym, gazebos and bbq areas are another positive, and help contribute to staying active on the property. Overall a welcome experience! read more

Please Read. Do Not Live Here! To start I would not even give the Alexandar Apartments one star if I had the choice. I don't ever post reviews but I think this one is definitely needed. This is a long one but please read! My family and I lived here for just about 2 years. Needless to say it was the most frustrating and disappointing experience living here. I'll start with the complex and units. These apartments may look "nice" on the outside or even in the show room they use to show new potential tenants. However that is far from the case. Moving in we very quickly learned of and saw the roach infestation and the absolutely disgusting mess left by the previous tenants. It looked as if they did not clean prior to us moving in. Dirt all over the floors, hair and gross residue left in the bathrooms, food residue left all over the kitchen. Not to mention the paint, chemical stains and grout left all over the unit. The Paint on the walls chipped away at the slightest touch, door frames were peeling from the walls, floor boards lifting from the floor. We aren't even allowed to mop due to the poor and cheap quality of the floors. The entire unit is completely unleveled, which makes putting furniture in the units difficult. The appliances provided always break down and need repairs. This complex is gated but there is only one gate. Traffic is constantly backed up due to food deliveries who don't have a code, people who forget their codes, gate not working, etc. If you try to assist someone with the gate you will be yelled at. The property manager has been seen on multiple occasions yelling at tenants from the office and from her truck to not help. So then everyone is expected to just wait there. Even with the gate there is a high volume of cars being broken into and even stolen. The homeless and people who should not be on the property constantly find their way in and cause issues. Not to mention the huge safety issue the gate would cause if there was a need to evacuate in an emergency like the fires California is so known for. There's so much more but moving on to the management and staff. Living here my family and I have experienced the absolute worst case of management. The management team is beyond disrespectful and unprofessional. It is completely disgusting and disappointing of how badly they treat their tenants. They are nice at first when you move in but if you start questioning all the hidden fees they throw at you or why you are being charged hundreds of dollars more than what your rent agreement is. They charge you conserve fees and raise them every month. And that is on top of what you have to pay out of pocket for PG&E. This place is full of hidden fees and you will pay $100-$500 more every month from what your original rent was. They will also spike your rent every lease renewal. If you question them about these issues or try and stand up for your legal rights as a tenant you will be continuously greeted with disrespect and attitude. If there is a problem with a noisy neighbor or if there is another issue going on they will not help you. For any concerns you have about the property they will try to manipulate the situation for their favor. If someone parked in your assigned spot you were told to not leave a note and to contact the office. This happened to us on multiple occasions and we were told they won't do anything. So you will lose your assigned parking. You can try and find parking but it's a mess. If you do park in open spots then you could get flagged and towed for different reasonings on their part. So it's a lose lose situation. The management will also not notify you for any maintenance being done to the unit or it's surroundings. There has been multiple incidents of privacy being broken. Not to mention the complete lack of courtesy and communication. I don't have the time to go into detail about it all but I hope the rest of this review is enough to warn you of the bs that takes place here. Overall this apartment complex and its management staff are horrible. Corporate does not care and will not even bother to call you back or even answer your call. This place is a major money pit and a total scam. The management team just manipulates and break your rights. Then will say you're disrespectful for standing up for your rights. Oh if you mention getting a lawyer they will then say you threaten them. They just don't want their actions to be met in court and face the consequences. They do not care about their tenants or their rights. They only want your money. Someone needs to seriously look into this establishment. I will certainly be reporting them. Someone broke my car window and no one does anything to prevent any more break ins. The only thing they say is to call the police. Water comes out from the side of the wall by where the laundry is. They come once and then they never do anything to fix any problem. We are moving soon and they told me that I'm going to have to pay for damages done and another rent but another apartments are not charging because COVID, but I don't like problems and I'm going to pay. We get overcharged with the trash thrown out only two people and somwtiomes we pay more than a $100. Amazon packages that we order sometimes go missing. Everything is old and in bad condition we pay $2,300 of rent with all this issues. The upstairs Patio doesn't have a roof my neighbors has 3 dogs and sometimes the pee is at my patio too, We put tarps and then we received a card that that's not valid so I need to live like that. If I could give lower than this, I would. This was by far the worst place I've ever lived. It's a "gated" community but it always unlocked or broken so people can easily come in and out. The prices say one thing but they charge per person on utilities and split it by how many people are in there vs how much of the utilities actually used. On top of that, everything built in there is "new" but cheap af. That was the most depressing place I've ever lived. The amount of cockroaches I saw in there was absolutely disgusting. They had one of the dumpsters sticking out by the parking space and while I was backing out my side mirror broke off and all they could say was "whoops" and never fixed the problem. I moved out early and paid an extra month's rent and they're STILL asking for more money. I even had a maintenance guy tell me he moved out cause it was unreasonably expensive. When I talked on the phone with one of them, and I was obviously stressed out saying they were expensive seeing as though they're asking for MORE money, the lady laughed at me and said "we don't make the prices." BEWARE. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Forgot to leave a review when I moved out in January of 2020. DO NOT MOVE HERE IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT IT! The worst complex I had EVER lived in. Usually never answered the phone. First and foremost: management. The younger female who was working one of the desks was unknowledgeable. Most times she gave you was a "Yeah sorry I don't know" response. Each time we had a concern she got less friendly. A younger man who worked the other desk usually had a cocky, unwelcoming demeanor. Also usually unknowledgeable. The older woman + man (handles/runs maintenance) who were usually running this complex and in the office were EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. I had an incident of finding a MAINTENANCE WORKER'S SHIRT IN MY DRYER INSIDE OF MY APARTMENT. For what?? How did it get in there? I asked the office..all they had to say was.."Huh..that's strange..sorry about that". My car was broken into and messed with SEVERAL times. I found a tool underneath my car as if someone was trying to steal my catalytic converter. Low and behold..someone messed with my muffler which was a $120 price to pay. The office claimed they had security walking around the premise. You never saw security walking around unless the gate was acting up. They did NOTHING to reassure/remedy the situation. Lastly, they were tagging cars who didn't have updated tags threatening to tow your car if you didn't update them within a couple of days. Just another way for the complex to steal your money I'm assuming. My mother's tags were updated and the head maintenance guy proceeded to fight my mother and EVEN THOUGH HER TAGS WERE UPDATED AND PROVIDED PROOF. Management ended up foolishly misunderstanding my mother. My mother proceeded to tell the woman manager that her head of maintenance was "being a d**k" (he was giving her a hard time). My mother's job (apt was rented out by job) then contacted her saying she may no longer come into the office due to "verbally harassing" the guy. The guy tried acting tough and intimidating following these events..smh. Oh, and they left an incredibly sticky sticker from the notice which my mother frustratingly told them she wanted it taken off because she tried and the material was too sticky. THE MATERIAL IS STILL ON MY MOTHER'S WINDOW.. EVEN A DEALERSHIP SAID THIS SEEMED LIKE A TARGETED MOVE. The manager proceeded to raise her voice saying "MY MEN ARE NOT GOING TO...". They eventually did after my mother explained she had taken Goo-gone and a scraper to it and it STILL didn't come off. Shady, shady complex. Bunch of stuff so expect to pay a few hundred dollars more. Plus the pge bill sky rockets whenever someone else moves out. They even had other issues like security hassling residents but didn't see much of them after a while. Biggest thing was moving out they were hassling us over the day we were moving out and then the deposit which wasn't much anyways. Eventually we got it but it took such a long process. Coming up on my two year mark here, after the first year I'd have probably given this place a solid 3-star, but in the last year they've really upped their game. I feel bad for the people manning the office, because I feel like every time I am in there, it's to complain about something... BUT every time I do complain, they address it. Leasing office terrible, switch around with units that are available. Some instances they don't know which units are upstairs or downstairs. Shows a perfect downstairs units and then shows the actually units that are available they look like they didn't even clean them up or check if anything works. Then on top of that they have a no fault delay. Never heard of such a thing I wouldn't move here. Maintenance guy just walking around with out a mask inside. Mask mandates are back. Typical salty review intro: If I could give this place zero stars, I would. DO NOT RENT HERE. The listing rent price is a scam, they will come up with filler fees to jack it WAY up. There are a lot of homeless people living in their cars, and just all around sketchy people lurking around. The finishes "look" nice, but are cheap and messy. Example: the kitchen drawers do not even have tracks. It is wood on wood. I have heard gunshots multiple times, and packages have been stolen from my porch numerous times. The apartment premise has 2 gates, for 2 entrance/exits. However, mid 2018, they just permanently closed the gate on West Third street, without notifying the residents. We were able to swallow this pill until the only gate started malfunctioning. Now, at least once a week, the gate breaks, and you are either stuck inside/outside the complex until it is fixed, which is not great when you are on lunch and this makes you late to work. Management does not respond to work requests, or complaints. This has been the worst rental property I have ever inhabited. This complex is the worst place I've ever stayed in. I was there for a few months for work. They claim they're secure because they are "gated", except, most of the time, said gate was broken, and open to anyone to walk or drive in. The few weeks the gate was working, it might as well not be, because cars would just line up behind another car, and they would go right in. One day, we were going back from work, and there was a man standing by the gate making sure every car stopped and punched in their codes before going in. We joked about whether they would pay someone to be stationed by the gate 24-7. That was answered less than an hour later because when we went back out 15-20 minutes later, said gentleman was not by the gate anymore. And we never saw another person guarding the gate. The management team is incompetent and dishonest. Deedee told us there's a business room where we could use a printer and a fax machine, but it wasn't true. Once we moved in, they told us we had to email them confidential documents to their email addresses, and they would print for us! We certainly couldn't email them confidential proprietary business documents to their personal emails! After we moved in, we heard a woman sobbing, and some male voice shouting in the apartment next to us, on and off for a day. Then a few weeks later, I heard door banging and what sounded like a male voice crying and shouting "let me in, please, let me in!" again and again. At first, I thought I was mishearing. I peaked out my door, and sure enough, it was a grown man banging on a door ferociously, crying and shouting outside one of my neighbor's door. It went on for at least 10-15 minutes. Very distressing! The landscape looked nice, and they spent a lot of money to make it appear superficially nice, so they can fool prospective residents into thinking this is a decent place to live. But once we moved in, we noticed a bad smell that didn't go away! They have supposedly "renovated" the units, but the "upgrades" are cheap and broken. For example, 1) toilet paper holder that can't hold TP because it's too small. You have to force the roll of TP into the holder, and it's so tightly squeezed into the holder that when you try to pull the paper off the roll, the roll doesn't roll at all, and you end up tearing up the paper, and end up with shreds of TP. So you have to rest the roll on top of the roller. How incompetent can they be?; 2) towel ring that comes off every time you use the towel. 3) the dishwasher is really loud, and you can only turn it on when you know you're leaving the place, and won't be in the unit to listen to it. 4) the heater works ok, but the A/C makes this horrible knocking sound that will make your heart skip beats, and there's no way you can leave it on at night, unless you plan not to sleep at all. Another unbelievable thing: NO window screen! For a complex that says it's high end, how can they not provide window screens? In a place with so much rain, hence lotsa mosquitoes and bugs! As a consequence, we were never able to open the window. Even then, there were lotsa mosquitoes and no-see-ums flying around inside the apartment biting me. I had to buy a mosquito net for my bed, so I could sleep without being eaten alive every night. But I could see them trolling around outside my mosquito net. Disgusting! They supposedly have Parcel Pending, which is a package locker hub where UPS/Fedex can drop off packages into these lockers, and then you get a text/email with a code so you can go retrieve them safely. Ryan gives me the information on how to sign up for this service. I go through the trouble to call them and set up an account, then I find out the complex never bothered to activate the service, and whenever packages are delivered to parcel pending, it simply gets dumped on the floor of this unsecured empty room! How stupid is that? What's the point of having these secure lockers? And why did management tell me to sign up for it if it's not even activated? I read several reviews with scary stories where the police was called, and I wondered how bad it really was. I didn't have to wonder for long because a few weeks after we moved in, I was coming back from work, and I see FOUR police cars with their lights flashing right inside the gate, and all these cops moving around the complex. One day I'm walking to my car, and I hear all this noise coming from the dumpster next to the parked cars. I looked over, and see a homeless lady going through the trash picking out cans/bottles and stuffing them in trash bags. It's amazing how unsafe this complex is, where homeless people can just walk right in. Apparently they changed the name of this complex, from Maribelle Apartments because the reviews were so bad. Well, it hasn't changed much. It's still a dump! Before you think about renting here, you need to read all the reviews about police activity in this complex. I had to do some service work inside this complex and I hadn't been here in quite some time. This at one time was an undesirable place. As I came in the grounds it just felt different immediately then what I was expecting. Everything Has Changed. It's an upgraded facility it's a beautiful grounds and the staff are definitely friendly and helpful. Eyewitness multiple staff in the office helping residents and service people randomly throughout the time I was there. If I could give negative star I would. This place portrays as a luxury complex but it is not! They charge around $200 for water, garbage and sewage, and just raised the rent to a ridiculous amount! Don't be blinded by all the "luxury" items in the units!" Horrible place! Oh and they just charged us $400 for partial paint after we moved out! We were only there for a year! The property is very well kept nothing to complain about that. Now apartment prices are a bit pricey and are very small for that price. Landscape is done twice a week and i always see cleaning people everyday keeping all common areas as clean as possible. Staff is always so helpful and friendly and when you are in need of maintenance assistance Edward the maintenance supervisor is sure to get the job done well and quick. Good place to live. read more

Pricey , but atleast they make it feel worth it , the amenities and perks that come along with the apartment make it so you feel like your rent money is well spent. The dog park & salon station is just perfect for our family & the new gym and clubhouse look amazing . Not to mention the management. Dee in the office is very professional and always knows the answer to my questions and Ed the head of maintenance is fairly new but is already on top of the game and is always putting a smile on everyone's faces . We had a problem with our washer and within 30 minutes of calling we had a maintenance worker come by and help us out. He was very friendly and professional, as well as communicated clearly what steps he was taking to help solve our issue. Came back in the morning to finish the job and we had a working washer! I've lived here now for 3 years! I love it her love the family friendly atmosphere, along with the dog friendly atmosphere! Edward, Chris, and the whole maintenance crew are amazing! Super cool about helping you out and super efficient! Edward is super knowledgeable, and always makes sure to have a solution for any problem! DeeDee and the office staff are welcoming, and definitely make you feel at home! Will answer any questions you have willingly and always super kind and respectful!
