Every person that I encountered at this bike shop was helpful and nice. Michelle was super chill and gave us great trail advice, and Kelly discussed the best tire for specific terrain with my friend. They have a wide range of bike and outdoor gear and will most likely have what you need on their shelves - my friend found/bought a jacket on sale that he said he would have worn 365 days last year if he had owned it sooner. Kelly even went above and beyond to help me when I realized my sunglasses had lost a screw. After helping me look for the screw, Kelly searched the shop for their Smith spare parts and ended up finding one that worked. Attentive, knowledgeable service and really great gear. I rented an AT setup from The Alpineer while in town over the holidays. Upon arriving for pickup the store was busy, but as soon as I came in Kelly made a point of checking in and letting me know an approximate wait time. He was even quicker than expected, and fitted me for boots while asking about my skiing and backcountry objectives to help decide which skis to take. The boots were comfortable, and the Black Crow skis I ended up with were by far the most fun and confidence-inspiring AT skis I've ever used. For years I've shopped at The Alpineer for skis and backpacking equipment. I've been very happy with all the gear I've bought with the aid of the recommendations of the experienced staff. Prices are competitive, too. Today I was given another reason to appreciate The Alpineer. I was picking up some newly waxed Nordic skis. I wasn't paying attention at the checkout counter and let the skis fall to the floor, breaking a lever on one of the bindings. They didn't have a replacement binding in stock, but Kelly was able on the spot to craft a replacement lever from parts they had on hand. Outstanding customer service! read more

I was in CB recently to mountain bike. One morning, 8 AM-ish, as I rode off, I realized I'd lost a cleat bolt in my shoe. No fun! Day ruined! Hang on... The Alpineer opens at 8 am! I went there. I asked if I could purchase a cleat bolt (hoping I wouldn't have to buy a whole set of cleats). A mechanic gave me a cleat bolt. I asked how much. He said $2. I had a card. He said, "Don't worry about it." I said, "Thank you! I'll write you a review!" I had fun! And here we are. My point is, I like the Alpineer a lot. I'll give them my business any time I'm in CB. Outstanding service!!!! I rented skis for my kids at the Christy's at the base of the mountain and they were very helpful, friendly and directed me to The Alpineer when they couldn't fix my hybrid binding. The folks at The Alpineer are just as awesome and not only fixed my binding but didn't even charge me a single cent for the repair and the tuning!!! I was headed out for a hike and noticed one of my Salomon Speedcross Quicklaces was shot. I stopped by The Alpineer to see if they had something that would work. Hunter found what I needed, and then re-laced them for me. It took some time, it's not an easy task, and he was very patient (more so than I would have been). I came in because I heard that they were the Santa Cruz dealer in the area. I bent my derailleur hanger in a crash to the point that the shifting was absolute garbage. Bart helped me out and told me he couldn't bend it back but hooked it up with a new one for free! So awesome! I was psyched and was able to get back out and ride Strand Hill as well as Lupine. Best gear shop I have ever been to! Not only does Alpineer have great gear, but their customer service and expertise is top notch. Quick story: I broke my boot and it would have been the end of my ski trip, but Alpineer fixed it using parts from a new boot, and they didn't even charge me! I came into the store desperately needing my binding repaired after a malfunction in the backcountry that ended my day. They were more than accommodating and when out of there way to find me a spare part and have the repair done the same day. I went into the Alpineer with a broken Osprey insulated water reservoir. Kole and Dana worked on it for almost an hour. I've never encountered such great customer service and have been an Alpineer customer since 1970. They are not only inventive, hard working--but also fun. I brought in a broken tele binding and they fixed it on the spot for me so I wouldn't miss out on any skiing. Service is above standard. Called the Alpineer on the spot when my boot buckle broke, Kelly said bring it in and Wallah! They helped me in minutes to fix a buckle that is also ski mode on my Vulcans. A very important fix. Best service in town and the fastest. read more
