Website and front desk say they see ferrets and have a knowledgeable ferret doctor on staff...but I've been there twice now, and both times I had a nagging feeling that both doctors I saw had little to no knowledge on ferrets and it showed. The vet tech didn't even know how to scruff a ferret to keep it still....pretty basic knowledge. Will not be bringing my ferrets here any more. And would not recommend this place for exotic animals. Stick to bringing your cats and dogs here. Message me if you'd like a recommendation for a vet that can help with your ferret friends. read more

I saw another review about Dr. Garr at Animal hospital unhappy that her bill was $600. I got a rescue six months ago. He is healthy and the rescue did a thorough veterinary exam including X-rays which a shotty rescue would never do!. Even though he had a heart worm negative test, Dr Garr talked me into another. haven't gotten results yet, which I know are negative. also wanted blood work. I said no. then wanted to do one year rabies rather than 3 year since we didn't have date of rabies. Told her tag said expired 2022. She then said fine. Most people know the one year and three year rabies are the same vaccine!! just more money to do it yearly!!! I like the Animal doctor, but don't like them pushing unnecessary tests and treatments!! read more

I have never written a bad review in my life. I'm a Los Angeles transplant who has been relying heavily on Yelp for nearly everything since our move in March & feel compelled to take the time to review The Animal Doctor clinic, as it was Yelp that brought me to this clinic in the first place. My family moved here with an 8 year old Aussie & purchased an Aussie pup in April. Obviously the puppy needed all the usual puppy series vaccines. Our old girl needed Lyme & to get some other vaccinations that came due over the last couple months. When I took our pup in for her first exam (immediately after purchase), I asked if they offered vaccine clinics. I was told no, but because I was paying a full exam fee ($65 per dog) for the first doses, that any boosters would not incur subsequent exam fees. Not the case. I was charged an additional $39 per dog for all booster appointments. I am not familiar with Lyme, but they told me they had to stagger my puppy's vaccines, so needless to say, I ended up paying numerous exam fees. Yesterday I took my 2 in for their final vaccines & was feeling relieved to be done with this for a year. To be honest, over the past few months, I'd always leave a bit mind-blown regarding how much I was paying each time we were there, but I never really dissected an invoice. But yesterday when I went in for 3 booster shots & was told my bill was $170 for those 3 vaccines (Lyme & Lepto x 2), it got my attention. Outside of the outrageous prices & the fact that they do not offer their clients the option of a vaccine clinic, their staff was consistently confused about which vaccines were due for my dogs & when. Each time I was there I had to double check what they were administering because apparently, someone had made a clerical error along the way that was never resolved. I provided my previous vet's records for the dog that had moved from CA at our first appointment & I was the one who had to bring to the doctor's attention that she had previously received DA2PPC NOT DHLPPC so yes, she does need Lepto.. And once again, yesterday, they had my puppy's booster vaccine schedule wrong. After I left my appointment yesterday with my head spinning, I told the doctor she had just lost 2 patients for the above mentioned reasons. I was honest with her & her response was disappointing. She defended the clinic's overhead & need to charge competitive prices. So in conclusion my opinion is that you'll definitely walk into a clean & lovely building with a huge staff that presents well. Under those layers you will find that you will not receive a fair deal & their record keeping is severely lacking. Like so many other small animal clinics out there, this place is preying on naive & compassionate owners & upselling like crazy. read more

We brought our dog in for her second appointment with the animal doctor, a dental cleaning. The office was very thorough while explaining what we needed to do before and after her dental cleaning. The people I talked to on the phone and at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. We had no doubts our dog would be in the best care while she was gone most of the day for her cleaning. I appreciate that it seems like the office truly cares about my dog's wellbeing. read more

We have been coming to The Animal Doctor for 18 years. We mostly see Dr. Wyatt, who is just an amazing human being. She is warm, smart and caring. Many years ago, our first dog was sick around Christmas, and she gave us her private number and told us to call, even if it was Christmas day. We also love Dr. Daus, for all of the same reasons. I have been taking my dogs to The Animal Doctor for over 10 years, mainly due to convenience of location. Staff has been fine, although they struggle with my ten year old dog who is gets very anxious in the office. Under normal circumstances I would rate the office with three stars, average. Upon this last visit, Dr. Garr asked if I wanted the bloodwork screening done on my dog since she is getting older. I answered, "Sure. She is ten now." So my dog received all her vaccinations and normal checks plus the bloodwork. When leaving my bill was almost $600!! I paid, but when I got home, the cost of the screening Dr. Garr administered was $197!! She later left a message that the screening was fine, no details. I am so upset and disappointed that the cost was not disclosed prior to testing. I emailed the office and still no response. Lesson learned, don't assume they will tell you the cost, always ask! They are expensive anyway, this put me over the top. read more

My mini fox is 19 years old with a degenerative back disease. I switched to the Animal Doctor because my previous vet refused to give a referral to the canine chiropractor that I wanted to use in an effort to give my dog some relief. The Animal Doctor is pro-holistic and are supportive of alternative methods of treatment, i.e. chiropractic, acupuncture, water therapy. So happy I changed. Upon reading up on medications that would further her comfort as she approaches her last days, they prescribed a medication that I suggested and it has made a world of difference. I highly recommend them! They really care. read more

I cannot say enough about this clinic. I was so impressed with the care Dr. Wyatt and her staff showed not only my Pit Bull Smoke but me as well. They were so informative about everything they were doing while they examined my dog. They took their time to make Smoke feel comfortable. At other vets I have felt that they rush through to get to their next patient but that was definitely not the case here. Before leaving they made sure all of my questions were answered. Dr Wyatt called the following evening from her cell phone on her way home with Smoke's blood draw results. She spent time explaining the results and what I should do to help Smoke with his issues. It was my 1st appt here with my 2 adopted cats. It was just ok. I've definitely experienced better. My appt was at noon and I didnt see the doctor till after 1pm. They said they had an emergency come in which may have been true, but it is still very hard for two cats to sit in the room for an hour very stressed out. The vet was just ok. She seemed stressed and shshe fidnt ask many questions about my cats to inquire if I was going a good job caring for them on a daily basis. The whole staff just seemed rushed and my overall feeling from the visit was pointless. My cats got an exam and their shots, but no extras or any indication that the staff cared how they were truly doing or anything like that. Then they tried to sell me on a different and yet more expensive rabies shot that is only made for cats. Huh?? Shouldnt the shot my cats get be made for cats??!!! Why do I have to be made to feel guilty by saying no to a "premium" shot that is made for cats?? That's not my decision to make. My vet should give my animal the best option as she knows it to be!! Right? Thats why I go to a vet and dont give my animals their shots myself!! Duh....I only took my cats there beci had a coupon for free exams from the shelter I adopted them from. I thought I'd take them there and base the idea if I would switch vets on how this 1st appt went. Well, needless to say I will not be going back there and I will find a different vet to bring my 2 cats and 2 dogs to in the future. read more

Love love love the animal Doctor. Dr Daus is the main vet I see and she is awesome! Always so caring and concerned about my dog, who I've had for a year and been in to the vet every month I've had her. She always talks to me about what's going on so I can understand. But I've also seen dr Wyatt and Dr Scmidt and they're all awesome! They have gone out of their way to help me out numerous times; called me after hours, on weekends, and squeezed me in to come in on an emergency when my dog wouldn't walk. That following day was a Saturday and they were all booked but I had to go in to check her platelets because they were severely low and squeezed me in anyways. I can not say enough good things about them! The front desk ladies are also very nice and helpful! They are a little pricey but it is worth knowing they care and are willing to go out of their way when you need it. Highly recommend this office! read more

I am really surprised more have not yelped about The Animal Doctor. I have nothing but POSITIVE remarks for them. Very very nice facility and very professional doctors/staff. I recently boarded my cat, Morty, for 9 days. He is 16 years old and has never been boarded before but due to him having diabetes now, he needs constant care. He was very well taken care of and seemed very happy upon pick up. Unfortunately, he bit an assistant while there and even though I don't know his/her name, I'd like to apologize on behalf of Morty. He received excellent care from the owner, Dr. Wyatt, while he was there. My husband and I spoke with her in length when picking Morty up and she explained everything in detail about his stay and his diabetic condition. I have no hesitation about boarding Morty here again!! :) I also wanted to give very positive remarks about Dr. Schmidt. She is Morty's doctor and was completely professional and caring about his condition. Samm, one of the assistants, was great upon checking Morty in and when I called midweek, Diane was super on the phone letting me know how Morty was doing. Fantastic place. read more
