Very poor response to Rx renewal request. ADOC had all current blood work to renew the Rxs. Request was transfered to 3 Dr that I know of. Never recieved a call from them. I had to call them several times for status updates. Ie run around. Oner 24 hrs post first request I called in and the RX refill was being processed after 6 PM. I was able to get the refill from another vet down the street as a walk in with empty Rx bottles. Very poor customer service. read more

I'm really disappointed with my experience at Animal Doctors of Anaheim. I brought my dog in for bladder stones, which is already a stressful and emotional situation, and I felt like there was very little compassion or concern shown for her condition. What upset me the most was the cost--they quoted me a price for surgery that was nearly 5x higher than another reputable vet I consulted. It made me feel like I was being taken advantage of during a vulnerable moment rather than being guided toward the best care for my dog. I understand veterinary care can be expensive, but empathy and transparency go a long way, and I didn't feel that here. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion if you're considering treatment at this clinic. read more

I have been bringing my pets to La Palma Vet for many years and have always appreciated the great practice and wonderful staff. However, my recent experience has left me heartbroken and questioning whether things could have been different. On November 11, 2024, I took my senior pet, Chibby, in for a consultation regarding a growth behind his ear. Dr. Le Clair examined it and assured me it was just a sebaceous cyst, nothing to worry about. She mentioned it was purely cosmetic and that removal was optional. Given Chibby's age, I decided to leave it alone based on her reassurance. Fast forward to January--Chibby scratched the cyst, and I noticed it had become large and inflamed. I took him back to the same vet on January 29. This time, Dr. Le Clair cleaned the wound, shaved the area, and performed a fine needle aspirate. Nearly a week later, after following up for results, I was informed that it was a mast cell tumor. I was grateful to receive a call from Dr. Angelo. We set an appointment to see him. Benadryl and Prednisolone was prescribed. However, after a few days on Prednisone (on 2/12/25), Chibby had an incident. He could not stand, he yelped, cried and was panting. We rushed him to Blue Pearl, where Dr. Jonathan Mullins determined that his weakness was due to low potassium and low oxygen. He was placed on IV fluids. Xray and bloodwork was done. His Prednisone dose was adjusted, he was prescribed potassium supplements and discharged. On 2/24/25, we came home to find Chibby unable to stand at all. He was yelping and panting. We rushed him to the Orange County Emergency Pet Clinic , where Dr. Kevin Yang told us his legs were paralyzed--likely due to a clot. His prognosis was poor, and we made the heartbreaking decision to let him rest. Chibby would have turned 17 on May 29. I can't help but wonder--if we had performed an FNA back in November, could we have caught the mast cell tumor in time for early removal while it was still small in size? I trusted the initial assessment, but now I am left with regret and what-ifs. I am sharing my experience in the hope that other pet parents advocate for thorough diagnostics, even when something appears minor. A special thank you to Dr. Angelo for always taking such great care of our babies. I truly wish Chibby had been able to have his November consult with you. He had several lumps over the years, and you always recommended FNAs to be sure, showing your proactive approach to his health. You have always gone above and beyond, and for that, we are incredibly grateful. You're the best! read more

When my dog had a limp, I needed to find a vet to check her out. This was the second vet I tried to get an appointment at (they were more affordable and had an earlier availability even though you need to pre-pay for your appointment for $60.) We secured an appointment for the next day. Upon arrival, you need to wait in your car and call them that you have arrived. Then someone will bring you inside to see the vet when they are ready. Everyone I spoke to was super friendly to me and my dog too, of course. The entire process was comforting, clear, and easy. I didn't feel pressured to spend more money than I needed to and felt very trusted to put my dog's care in their hands. Brought our newly rescued cat in for her exam. Our first time visiting this clinic and we were nervous as she previously had to be sedated to get care while under the care of shelter vets. This girl has had a rough few years and was recovering from eye surgery and she did great with Dr. Gonzalez, he was patient and gentle. He answered all my questions and made sure my girl was on the road to recovery. The girls in the front and back were so nice and helpful. Brought my cat here to get a couple shots updated & get him seen before I scheduled his appointment to get neutered, since that's their policy. First off, they weren't friendly for whatever reason, but I don't expect everyone to be in a great mood all the time, so that was fine. I'm also polite to people regardless of the vibe they give off. Then the vet came in & she also wasn't very nice, for whatever reason. As she was examining my cat, he growled & she seemed super annoyed and said "wow, so rude". For a second I thought she was joking, but she genuinely looked angry. They weren't loving toward him whatsoever. Excuse me, ma'am, but are pets usually happy to see you? I've never seen an animal excited to go to the vet. So weird. They wouldn't give me a price or ballpark range for the neuter over the phone, but since so many people on yelp recommended them for affordable neutering (some saying they paid around $100 recently), I figured it would be okay. I ended up paying $111 for a visit + 2 shot updates. That was ok, but I was quoted "anywhere from $289-$489" to get him neutered. When the vet assistant asked me if I would like to schedule, I said "No thank you. That was more than I was expecting." & he laughed a little and said, "Yeah, I know. Pets are expensive." I'm sorry, What?! I know that. I've invested a lot into his health & wellbeing, but that doesn't mean I want to pay that much and be on a waiting list for an unknown amount of time until you guys get him in. Just a weird, unpleasant experience over all & I'd highly recommend you go elsewhere if you're unsure. read more

The receptionist was very short with me and said she would have to call me back after she went through their schedule. Weird that it takes a full day to pull up a calendar on the computer but whatever, I politely thanked her and waited for a call back that never happened. Two days later I went back in person to the location in Buena Park. I thought maybe if it's one location communicating with the other they would be more on top of it. I was wrong. Kinda disappointed. Been using this VET for 9 years and has brought all 6 of my cats to be treated her but lately it hasn't been the best for me. Brought my cat here to ONLY get her right back nails cut. Didn't want them all cut because she's an indoor outdoor but She's healing from an eye infection and I didn't want her scratching her eye again. They ended up cutting the wrong nails. They said they cut her right nails really short and trimmed her left a little bit. Wrong! The cut her left really small and trimmed a right nails slightly which defeated the whole purpose. Plus the last 2 visits I question if I'm getting the right care for my cat. This place used to be my go to place for all my cats problems and I would recommend to everyone. We love La Palma Vet! We have been taking our dog here since she was 3 months old. She's a nervous girly, but the staff from the vet techs to the vets always treat her with so much love and kindness. They do their best to make her feel as comfortable as possible during check ups and any procedures she may have to undergo. When our dog got her spay surgery, she was too scared to leave the kennel that the vet carried her to my car! We've always gotten the best treatment here and wouldn't go anywhere else. TLDR: The vet is fairly cost effective. You will pay less but the quality is not the same as it used to be. I think they may just be too busy. My family came here for all our animals and they are not as expensive as other vets and offer cash discounts for vaccines. I am not sure whether it's just not enough vets or how busy they are, but when your animal gets seen, the doctor is only in the room for maybe a few minutes before leaving. Any follow up questions you have to ask their staff to ask the doctor and play telephone. They don't always listen either. For example, my cat got an upper respiratory infection, it was severe enough that his eyes would get coated in mucus and he wasn't eating anything. I took him to the La Palma and they gave me an antibiotic. Reading the notes it said to give with food and they said flush it down his throat with water as it can cause throat spasms. I asked if they were sure this would be the best medication because my cat wasn't eating. They asked the doctor and the doctor said yes. My cat vomited for the next six hours after the dose as he couldn't tolerate it on an empty stomach. I asked for a new antibiotic and instead I had to pay 80$ for anti nausea medication that wasn't supposed to be given in conjunction with the original antibiotic that made him throw up. I was just supposed to stop the old one. Four days later I finally get an antibiotic. Why they gave me an anti nausea medication instead of just a new antibiotic, I couldn't get an answer. The staff is friendly and it's not a bad place. It's just really busy and it shows in the finer details. When we had to put a kitten down to FIP, we got a card in the mail with their staff expressing condolences. It was an amazing gesture that got lessened when we realized that they spelled his name wrong in 4 different ways throughout all the written sentiments. read more

I've been going here for a little over a year and have no bad experience. Staff are always so friendly not only to owners but the babies as well. Also noticed this is cheaper than my previous vet. I was recommended by my coworkers & I'm glad I found this place. I like that everything is electronic and emailed to you, so I can always access anything I need for my fur babies. What this place stands out the most is 1 of my pup has trust issues and always scared of vets, but at this place, he walks right in and I give him to the techs. My husband and I highly recommend Dr. Angelo and his staff. Everyone was so compassionate. The doctor was actually off work, but stayed to see our cat and help us with a very hard decision ---- We felt it was Toby's time to send our cat to heaven before he experienced more pain. This weekend we noticed him failing. When we took him in today, the doctor took time to examine him and comfort us that we were making the right decision of putting our 17 year old cat Toby to sleep to relieve him of his pain and suffering.
