I've been coming here since I started reefing. Been getting ro, saltwater and fish every once in a while. today i got what is supposed to be 5 gallon saltwater but instead it's just plain ro. i called and i spoke to a guy named andrew and i believe he's the one who sold me the water, said just return the water. DIDNT EVEN APOLOGIZE. i won't be able to return the water till wednesday since i'l be working and my tank badly needs a water change. not coming back to this place anymore. read more

Bought my 125 gallon from Aquarium connection almost 3 years ago - they designed the complete system - sump, skimmer, pumps etc and plumbed and installed the tank and equipment in my home. They are extremely helpful and always ready to offer suggestions when problems inevitably happen. When I began ordering coral for the tank they helped me out by suggesting a 4 pump dosing system that has been a lifesaver for general coral health (as well as a time saver as dosing manually is rough). I noticed a comment stated that no one helped them when they went into the store, I don't know about that customer but I actually want to browse a bit when I first walk in a fish store (never know what else you might want to buy) but I'm certain if you had approached any of the staff they would have immediately helped you out. The staff there just recently helped my locate a Neptune Trident - basically the unicorn of the aquarium testing world due to its extremely limited availability - I couldn't be more thrilled!! My tank got leak so I called them and have a gentleman came to my house checking it out. I'm not sure if he is a staff or the boss, but it seems he is the boss. He came on time for the appointment. He is really fast, easygoing and honest. Definitely 5 stars service. read more

It's suprising that this store has lots of 5 star reviews, I wonder if they are friends of the business owner. This store used to be located inside of Theresa's Feed and Pet, and has since moved to this location. I never much liked the quality of the fish back when they were in there, and still don't, now that they are here. The fish are often diseased with Ick, or Fungus, and due to the bad flow thru aquariums that they have, many types of fish get sick. I recently went in to the new location to give it a second chance, bought some Neon Tetras. Well, I won't be back because one was already dead inside the bag by the time I got home. ( I live in Simi by the way ). Two more died the next day. It wasn't the quality of the water in my tank, because I bought a few other fish from somewhere else, also Tetras, and they did fine. This place may be knowledgeable, but the highly overpriced tanks and poor quality freshwater fish are not worth it! read more

Being local is its only plus. Prices are extremely high. Marineland MJ Pro 1200 is $49 and you can get at any online store with shipping for $24. Dead Corals are not priced. Staff member says the owner usually sets the prices when the customer asks, but said usually very high. Not sure how fish are now, but when at Teresa's they were very unhealthy. Purchased a few different times, but they never lasted for more than two months and always infected my tank. read more

Visited this shop today and was very impressed. The store was packed with healthy looking fish, plants, and corals. It had a lot of different substrates and aquascaping materials that I haven't been able to find in other Ventura county aquarium stores. The employees were friendly and willing to help me with anything I needed. Prices were great from what I saw. Will definitely be going back and I encourage anyone in the Ventura county area to check this place out because they are now my go to aquarium store. read more

My daughter is so obsessed with fish we go to stores like this just to look at them, and this place is fun! Everyone is really nice and there's a great selection of fish to view and I'm sure if you own a big aquarium they have anything you would need. When we decided to get her a betta we knew this was the place. Unlike the big chain pet stores which often have sad looking and even dead fish floating around, the ones for sale are healthy and happy and our betta is doing great. I went in for the first time to ask about my one beta fish who was not thriving. The man there patiently listened to all my discription of what was wrong and how I cared for the tank. Then he gently explainined what I was doing incorrectly (and there were several things) He gave me simple instructions on what to do, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. Went in today because my son got a tank with beautiful fish that were not doing well from a different place. Aquarium Connection helped us out so much. They gave us a crash course on how to do things properly, tested his water, told us what supplies and medicine we needed, and instructions on how to do everything. What a great shop!!!! read more

Store selling POOR QUALITY WATER.. HIGH IN PHOSPHATE RODI AND SALTWATER. I purchased a beautiful saltwater set up for my daughter. I have had Saltwater Reef Tanks for 20 years and thought I had seen it all. She doesn't have room for an RODI unit so I told her to go to the Aquarium Connection to purchase all your RODI Water and Salt Water which she did, and proceeded to do water changes every 4 weeks. It has been 5 months since she set up her tank and the tank continues to have an abundance of green hair algae "out of control"! I purchased over $300 of items and remedies to try to control and eliminate the green hair algae (which was growing on everything, including inside the sump! After all of this I told her to do another water change ...purchase the Salt Water mixed and the RODI water, but this time have the AQUARIUM CONNECTION test the WATER they are selling you FOR PHOSPHATES at the counter in front of you!!!!...and not really to my surprise not only was the RODI water higher in phosphates than city water, but the saltwater mix they sell was just as bad,,,OFF THE SCALE WITH PHOSPHATES!!!! Makes me wonder how many years it has been since those contaminated RODI filter cartridges has been changed!!!!!! We will be purchasing else where! read more
