I had high hopes for this place but unfortunately I was a bit disappointed. The ambiance was amazing! I loved the photo wall, different seating levels and open air design. Pro tip though, the Armory is a self seating restaurant and you order at the bar. My friends and I wandered for a bit before we found that out. I ordered the fish tacos and I was super hungry so I ate them but they were a bit disappointing. The fish had a good fry on the outside but had a very fishy flavor. The white sauce crema was good but the other taco fillings had a strange smell and flavor predominated by an enormous amount of cilantro heaping on each taco. For 20+ $ (depending on tip) it was not worth it for me. However, my friend got the burger and she enjoyed it. Another thing that could have made the experience a bit better was the service. The employees of the restaurant were friendly but two of my friends waited a really long time for their food. All in all this seems like a really fun place to hangout. They have corn hole in the back room, comfortable seating and yummy drinks! I would recommend coming here... just not for the fish tacos;) read more

First of all, the tap water they serve is DISGUSTING. I took a sip and had to spit it out. The server said "it's the city water." No restaurant should serve water that tastes like that. Soooo... bad start. Then the main meals come out before the appetizer and no one seems to know we even ordered one. Same with my cocktail and mocktail. When those finally came out they weren't that good. Way too syrupy and sweet. The place is super cool looking so a nice place to hang out. The short rib tacos were awesome. Ambiance was amazing. Ate here. Had the pretzel appetizer - DELICIOUS. The steak and frites, pretty good. Would have liked to have been able to say how I liked my steak cooked. Daughter had the kids homemade mini corn dogs and she said they were amazing. Son had the kids mac & cheese. He seemed to enjoy it. The server seemed to have a lot of tables and maybe a little thinly stretched out. But she was nice. My kids also shared the brownie dessert, hubby and I each tried a bite. Yummy!! The only thing I will clearly say I didn't like: when paying you're presented with a handheld checkout. It goes straight to the total, then suggesting tip. I went there for a class reunion and before you can order a drink they want to go give them a credit card to open an account, i always pay cash, they said I could open the account then pay it off, I said l don't use credit cards for restaurants I always pay cash and if you don't want my money I'll go across the street to have a drink and they did take my cash, but I wonder do they have a higher charge for a credit card and they don't get it if you pay cash so they want a credit card then add their surcharge then you can pay it off? I have never been anywhere that didn't accept cash. Maybe I'm old fashion but cash has always been accepted, so unless they have hidden charges which no one needs when you go to an expensive place they are just ripping you off so I give them thumbs down, it should be your choice how you pay not there's as long as they get paid, not planning on going back read more

2 stars is being gracious. Ordered the French dip and brisket. The brisket was dry, with no flavor at all. The French dip was worse, the meat was tough and had no seasoning, and the au jus was flavorless and consistency and coloring of brown gravy. The coleslaw was super spicy which isn't mentioned on the menu. The BBQ sauce was delicious and flavorful, tastes just like bullseye BBQ sauce. I don't know if they got a new chef or stopped making fresh food but the food has gone way downhill since last year and the menu change. I ordered online for pickup and was ignored at the bar for a few minutes, it wasn't busy. All in all I don't recommend and think you'd find better food other places downtown. Just ate at The Armory for the second time this week! We arrived in to town late Sunday evening and The Armory was one of the few establishments still open. Bryan treated us like long lost friends and gave us good recommendations on the drink and dinner menu, as well as the recommendation to come back for Taco Tuesday. So we did. And it didn't disappoint! Today for Taco Tuesday, Elly took great care of us, again with great recommendations and a friendly chat. What a fun and friendly place! This place is all right to eat at. It's a wonderful place to hang out and probably have drinks. I like eating on the rooftop on a nice sunny day. Also, the staff is always kind and their menu has a variety of options that are fit for all sorts of people. Even the vegetarians also I think you're allowed to have dogs. I'm not sure but I seen a few dogs. And it's a wonderful location in Sonora downtown. They have parties Saturday nights I think because it's always, popping on the weekend with music. It was not a great experience for two of the three of us being there for the first time. The food was not great. Two of the three entrees that we ordered were not available and the food we did get was not good. How can you be out of two of the recommended items- our server recommended them- on a Friday afternoon going into the weekend? The chicken salad was flavorless and had too much mayonnaise. The nachos were also flavorless and the cheese wasn't fully melted. All entrees were served in paper trays- for an eat in restaurant. In addition, we were asked for a credit card up front and when we went to pay we were told that it was their policy that the first credit card was the one they would use. She argued with us for a bit and told us it was her policy and not the restaurants but other servers followed that policy. We asked several times to use a different card and was told she would not be able to do that. We did not get her name as she never introduced herself when taking our order. The drinks were the only saving grace. The water was terrible - not their fault - but we ordered sparkling water which they did not have. We got a bottle of plain water and no glasses so asked about glasses and she dumped the city water out of the glasses for us to reuse for the bottled water. read more

Last night we went to the Armory it was me, my brother, my sister in law and my Mom. First time here it's my mom's birthday and we wanted to try some where we haven't been. I remember someone mentioning this place so we all agreed. We were very pleased with the place of it had been warmer we would have sat out is the covered patio area. We sat in the dining room/bar area. The staff was very welcoming, the server Eric was very knowledgeable about the beer they had we all the bikini blond pale except my sister in law had a high hibiscus margarita and she said it was really good. We all had tacos my mom and I had the Baja fish tacos and Tony and Eshi had the short ribs tacos. All of us were very happy with our orders. The tortillas were really tasty and didn't fall apart and each taco had a nice size piece of fish. My brother and Eshi said the same their tacos were delicious. The tacos came with chips and salsa and the meal was served on a tin tray I thought it was very cool. We had dessert we had the brownie with ice cream and chocolate sauce, and the berry lemon cake both desserts were delicious. The overall flavor experience was very good and we will definitely be eating at the Armory again. read more

A pretty cool venue for a bar/restaurant! I came here for dinner the day after skiing up at Dodge ridge and I was impressed that there was a place like this in Sonora. I got the Kobe sliders and they were tasty. The bun was a brioche bun but it was crunchier than I initially thought it'd be (since at least when I hear brioche my first thought is a softer bread). I liked the sauce that was in the sliders, they helped with the dryness of the bread. And I like that it came with a lot of fries. In terms of the money's worth aspect it was on the pricey side for me, but the ambiance was good/bathrooms were clean/easy to park so I'll assume some of the cost is eaten up by or allocated to upkeep. read more

Definitely not the food it used to be and I'm sad about it. This is usually one of our fave restaurants in Sonora. We always get the bowls and they used to be huge and fresh and in a glass bowl. Last night they were literally half as big and tasted nothing like they used to. Service was overwhelmed but sweet. Pretzel was still amazing. Trivia was fun! Crossing my fingers the food improves. Bowls used to have lots of fresh raw veggies and were so flavorful. I hate the paper plates. Desserts were usually amazing, and brownie was melt in your mouth, but that's off the menu. :( Please bring back the bowls as they used to be. read more

We sat in the bar to the left of the entrance, and service was very slow, even to get water and place a drink order. There were very few people there dining or drinking so I don't understand why it took so long for anyone to acknowledge our existence even though multiple waiters and bar tenders passed by.
