As soon as I walked in I was greeted by this awesome young lady named Michayla. She seated me and my friends down giving us menus and waters. Once we were ready to order she came over very kindly and asked what we wanted to eat. We order a pizza and 3 shirley temples. When the food arrived she placed all of it down very gently and told us to enjoy and she hoped it was good. Once we started eating we all shared thoughts on how it was so good. It was fresh warm so much more. She was very kind to us and she definitely knows how to treat her customers right you guys should give her a raise. They didnt have a printed kids menu but he helped my kids choose their food. We got ourselves some food and drinks as well. Everything came out fairly quickly. 1. The fancy fondue was very yummy. It came with toasted sourdough bread. 2. Garlic bread was also good. We dipped that into the fondue once we were done with the sourdough. It enhanced the taste further. 3. Kids loved the pepperoni pizza and fish & chips. 4. Our server also accommodated our request for a half and half garlic chicken pizza with no meat on one side. The pizza came out great. I was meeting up with a friend for happy hour and Emberz looked appealing, especially with their happy hour pricing. Pizzas and starters are $3 off, and cocktails are $2 off. Their happy hour is DAILY from 14:00-16:00. The restaurant was pretty busy on a Sunday, but we didn't have to wait long for a table. Our server was attentive and friendly. For our cocktails, my friend went with the Huckleberry lemonade, while I went with the pomegranate whiskey sour. She thoroughly enjoyed her cocktail, and so did I. At that price point, I didn't expect much, but it was a solid cocktail, although not as strong as what I'd normally get elsewhere. The clam chowder sounded really good, and I couldn't help myself, so I ordered it. My friend is not a fan of seafood, so the chowder was all for me. The crostini was very nicely toasted and I loved dipping it into the chowder. I was also pleasantly surprised by the flavor and quality of the clam chowder. It was packed with a ton of clams, and was perfectly hearty without being heavy. We opted to share the fallen apple pizza, which was the perfect choice. The dough was pillowy and light, and the toppings delicious. I would have liked more apple slices, as it didn't seem like they were very prominent, and for the balsamic drizzle to be more uniform, but overall it was a solid pizza. I took leftover pizza home, and my husband enjoyed it for dinner. We heated it up in the air fryer and that was the way to go. While it was a little noisy in the restaurant, mainly due to a large group seated next to us, we still had a good experience, and the booth seating was comfy. I would love to bring my husband back to try more happy hour menu items next time we visit Sonora! The price point is seriously hard to beat, and Emberz is a solid spot for hanging out and having a good time. read more

I was very disappointed in the dinner had at Emberz in Sonora.. I ordered from the specials they were advertising. I ordered the T Bone steak,which came with mash potatoes, sauted mushrooms and asparagus. The TBone lacked the normal T in that steak,I ordered the steak med rare the steak was a half and inch thick and over cooked and looked like it had been steamed. A warning, they serve their water with cucumber and lemon added, so ask for "regular" water if you don't like these flavors. Our waitress was awesome and the desserts were outstanding. Visiting the small town of Sonora we decided to stop by Emberz for lunch. After talking to the friendly server we decided to order some of their most popular items, their tomahawk steak and the prosciutto and apple pizza. The steak was cooked to perfection, amazing golden crust on the outside, and perfectly medium rare on the inside, paired with their sides; it was delicious. The pizza had a delicious sounding concept, it just wasn't the execution I was looking for. The crust was doughy and a little too thick without the bubbly airy crust I normally expect from a wood fire oven, there also wasn't any wood fire oven taste. We arrived starving at Emberz on a rainy, wintry, late afternoon. Sonora Downtown is such a charming and quaint little place and Emberz is the perfect restaurant for this setting. Great ambience and service. Our server helped us choose dishes for the vegetarians. The highlight of the table was the Tomahawk steak. The warm, yummy food was exactly what we needed. I apparently hadn't reviewed this place when I posted pics. So here we go. This place is a cute little spot in a cute little town. In the heart of their cute little downtown. Came for my husband and brother in law's birthdays. My brother in law and his wife have been here before so it came with great recommendation. Ordered some apps: calamari, baked Emberz (a duo of ooey gooey cheese) and a side of toasted crostini and olive tapenade. Both very delicious and very shareable. We both ordered the tomahawk steak which came with a side vegetable and mashed potatoes. The steak came sliced and cooked exactly as we requested. Steak of everything you want it to be since you know you are spending a pretty penny. Ambiance is nice. Service was phenomenal and the food was delicious. Highly recommend! Oh we had so much left over I was able to make 4 full size breakfast burritos with what was leftover and well as what I was able to cut off the bone. I've had a mixed experience with Amber's over the years, so I think a three-star review feels the most fair. In the past when I visited, the food and service were both excellent. I left a glowing review and was excited to return. Unfortunately, on a later visit, I tripped and fell in the restaurant and was humiliated when some staff laughed at me and made comments suggesting it was because I had one drink (a single Moscow Mule). It was upsetting and disappointing, and I left a very negative review as a result. To their credit, the owner personally called me to apologize and told me the staff went through a training session in response to what happened which I appreciated and thought was the right thing to do. I've been back a couple of times since. Service was fine, but unfortunately, the food doesn't taste the same. It seems like they've changed the frying oil to something like canola or palm oil and it's noticeable. The flavor and quality just aren't what they used to be. I want to love this place again, but there's definitely been a shift. I hope to see them bounce back, because the potential is there. read more

I have been here a handful of times, haven't been in a while due to a poor experience. Gave it a go for a friends birthday. Service was great, our waitress was so attentive. Drinks were brought out promptly and our appetizers came out shortly after. The food was great all around. I had the New York steak special, my friend had the seabass special, 2 orders of pulled pork special, and a tomahawk. All were delicious. My steak was cooked to perfection and it tasted incredible. We've been to Emberz a few times over the years, but this time, we decided to try the tomahawk and share it. First off, we want to say that we so enjoyed having Nicole as our server. She is enthusiastic and made us feel very special! The Tomahawk was cooked just as we requested (medium rare) and we loved the seasoning and the sear on the meat. The loaded baked potato casserole was delicious and we enjoyed the green beans. We also had two side salads to start off our meal. At the end, Nicole brought us a birthday ice cream dessert that was a great ending to a delicious meal. They bring your ticket in a book and request that you sign a page about your experience. That's a fun idea! We enjoyed getting to know Nicole a little bit each time she stopped by to check on us. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Sonora. We stopped in for a quick bite while wandering the streets of Sonora. Rather than take a table we bellied up to the rather long bar. I wish I remembered our bartender's name. She was lovely and told the funniest story about an experience she had squeezing a lemon. Anyway, my husband ordered his usual gin and tonic while I decided to try their Cadillac margarita. We also ordered the wings hoping to try two different sauces (Buffalo and Teriyaki). We were told the kitchen would not toss them, but we could order them naked with sauce on the side. Perfect! The drinks were well made....I hate when a margarita is too tart, but this one was delicious and almost slightly sweet. Obviously not made with some mass produced sour mix as some bars use. The wings (sorry no picture) were meaty and served hot. Eight wings in an order, 4 drums and 4 flappers which was perfect as I prefer the drums while my husband loves the flappers. I had chosen the teriyaki sauce, but tried the Buffalo as well. I liked that the Buffalo did not have that vinegar flavor as some do. The teriyaki sauce though was delicious. Even my husband preferred that to the Buffalo. The ranch served with the wings definitely tasted house made which I really appreciated. We came in around 8pmish very tired from a long drive. Yes I agree with the other reviews that there's a weird smell when you first enter - but the service/food/drinks/dessert were all fantastic. They were busy but they promptly cleared a table for our family to eat. Waters were delivered immediately and kids food arrived early which is nice. Let me start off by saying that Emberz deserves a 4.5/5 and not a 4, but there is no option for that here. The reason this place did not get a 5 star review is due to a few small critiques my party had, or things we would like to see differently. For starters the service was pretty good. Our waitress was great and accommodating. The two things that could have been improved was the order in which the waitress saw her patrons and a confusion with drinks. Our party of 6 was seated 5 minutes before another party but their table got seen first which we thought was quite odd (could have just been a miscommunication). We also had another staff member bring out drinks on two different occasions that were another tables order. Other than those two hiccups, the service was great. One thing we were a little disappointed in was the lack of information about their specials they were running that evening. We had no idea they had a special going on that night for specific dishes they normally don't have on the menu that would have changed what some of us ordered if we would have known about them ahead of time. We only knew about the specials because we saw a little chalk board on the ceiling on the way out, with no mention of specials from any of the staff. As for the food, all of our meals had great flavor. Our party of six ordered a little bit of everything, a few appetizers, pizza, french onion soup, tomahawk steak, and sandwiches. My two critiques for the food: the hunk of heaven steak sandwich was phenomenal in flavor and large in portion. Because it was so large in size, it was difficult to eat considering it was one complete cut of meat. For the future, I think it would be helpful to slice the steak into strips and place it on the sandwich. The pizza we ordered had great flavor and was big enough to feed two people well. The under carriage of the pizza was quite disappointing and it had no structure and was a bit soggy in texture. Besides the few tweaks that could be easily made, the overall dining experience was pleasant and enjoyable. I will be back to give it a second shot the next time I find myself in Sonora when I visit family. read more
