Fantastic ambiance and new venture, nestled in historic downtown Sonora! This has the feel of a city brewery right in the Sierra foothills. My family loved our fish tacos, fried chicken sandwich and braised pork sandwich! It came out fast and fresh! We can't wait to see what they test on their new menu next. Our company had our 2024 annual Christmas Party Dinner at the The Armory. Elise, the coordinator was there for us each step of the way. She made the planning portion easy. The evening went without flaw. It was a fabulous night! There wasn't one thing we would have changed. The filet mignon was so tender, the chicken breast was so moist and flavorful. The appetizer crab cake with sauce was so delicious! The charcuterie cheese board was displayed so beautifully. We enjoyed all the chef's culinary delights. This place is super cool! The ambiance and the atmosphere are awesome. We visited Sonora for one night and ended our evening at the Armory where we enjoyed apps and drinks. This place is kid friendly and dog friendly which is super valuable to us. The customer service was also great. We met the manager Bryan who made sure we were enjoying our time and had everything we needed. He even made my 3 year old feel special and acknowledged. I have been to this restaurant a few times but tonight was the best experience. I had the fish tacos and my adult children had the short ribs and the French dip. Nothing I like more than an open space with a good vibe. Walking in the Amory the is plenty of room to move around but I expect this place to pick up when the live music starts. I'm very particular about my Old Fashioned and wasn't disappointed at all. The Baja Taco was an 8/10 there was just something lacking in the flavor to give it that 10/10 but it's still a solid choice off the menu. read more

Upscale McDonald's with alcohol. High prices for no service. Had a manhattan for 14$ finished the night with a smoked old fashioned at Emberz for 10$. I seen many from The Armory end up at Emberz. (An no I don't work or favor Emberz as my favorite local spot to eat is station 49 in Jamestown) Who wants to eat out of a cardboard for a 22$ meal. Yes people your paying 22$ for no one to seat you, no server just a person bring your meal in a cardboard to eat out of. Maybe I'll try them much later but for now I won't go back lots better places for the money and atmosphere. P.S. fun part was checking the place out to see how long it will be before someone eats it on all the hazards around the place. Kids playing on the rocks and someone dropping there drink from there hand from the balcony. Yes we personally seen it when we were there. P.S.S. I am not from the area so this review is from the perspective of a tourist visiting friends. This restaurant was great- tons of outdoor seating, both downstairs by the bar and upstairs. If you sit outside by the bar, you order through the bar and then they bring the food to your table. Service was quick and staff were friendly. There was live music inside as well, which you could hear sitting outside. Overall a great place with tons of beers on draft, and vegetarian/vegan friendly menu. read more

This place is perfect for the area. The most modern and comfortable place in town. Everything feels brand new but at the same time like it belongs there. The beer and cocktail list is giant and great. The food is fantastic. The atmosphere is friendly. My wife and I have been to a few football sundays and the energy is great. The service was great but... all the dishes were a little on the sweet side. No burger? Menu needs work to provide more flavor without the sweetness. House margarita was also sweet and no tequila you could taste. Most people opted to buy a floater shot. I think they just need to adjust the recipe. Two of us went for a late lunch today on Saturday. We sat upstairs. We ordered 2 margaritas and 2 hamburgers. After an hour another waitress asked if we wanted another drink. I said we were hungry and where was our food. We've been waiting an hour. She took 1 drink off the bill and checked on the food and said it will be coming up. After a few more minutes we got tired of waiting and told her we were leaving. She said fine and don't worry about the bill. On our way out downstairs I noticed a round high top table that we were going to sit at when we arrived had plates of empty trays and the people had gone. I couldn't believe someone after us had got their food and were finished and gone. This was so disappointing and we won't be back to try this again. read more

Food good: Veg bowl large and good flavors, brownie w/ice cream served perfectly warm. Food forgetable: cheese cake very cold with cold fruit on top, grilled cheese and roasted tomato soup was not on sourdough, but on small, thick white sandwich bread and soup barely warm but good flavor. The Armory is a great lunch place. I especially enjoyed the ambience of the balcony tables with umbrellas and a nice summer breeze. Not a lot of food choices but what they have is excellent quality. This place went downhill fast. When they first opened, the food was amazing and the "servers" would guide you on what to do when you're ready to order. NOW??!!!! No waffle fries, no chicken sandwich, no poke bowl.... Bartender on her phone hiding and wouldn't make eye contact? And there was only one bartender. Ordered a burger because we were starving but.....Just plan on a burger the size of your palm..eesh! We just left and don't plan on coming back. There wasn't an option for curly fries, they said they only had string fries. Also I DEFINITELY would have chosen Philly cheese if I saw it lol yum but unfortunately that wasn't an option ... maybe we just landed on an off day, just say that? But good luck read more

I've been studying this place for a few years as I've stayed up the hill in Sonora off and on. It was closed all through the pandemic, but is open now so I finally got to go. It was great. I mean really delightful - easily and by far the nicest place in town. What I continue to find intriguing is that they seem to have zero social media savvy. I mean it's as though they don't exist. Someone one there really needs to get on top of that, or perhaps they should hire someone who has a clue how to establish a presence. Had I not physically seen it and been intrigued, I never would have gone. I can only imagine how many travelers skipped it because they had no clue. read more

Old fashions are how I judge most bars skills. It's such a simple cocktail yet most places don't do it well. This place passed with flying colors. The old fashion was incredibly well balanced. Phenomenally executed old fashioned. The food was really good too! I had a delicious Nashville fried chicken sandwich. The chicken was crispy yet juicy. Bun wasn't soggy. And the sauce was yummy. The atmosphere is was great too. I came here the Eve before Christmas Eve so the place wasn't packed but I could tell that it has the potential to be quite lively on a normal Saturday night. They have a big outdoor space with a rooftop deck, multiple bars, and a huge dance hall for live music. The staff were also all friendly and knowledgeable from the manager to the bartenders.
