After trying their grilled cheese and tomato soup I was underwhelmed. Both were less than mediocre. If you are going to offer a simple classic on a menu it better be amazing. This was over priced and left me hungry with the extra small portions. A friend had the Harvest Bowl that was pretty good. I hate the trend in restaurants to make you serve yourself. You have to order and tip at the register before you get your meal. You have to get your own silverware, water and condiments. Calling this 'fast casual service' doesn't change the fact it is just self service. I can do that at home and I don't have to tip myself for doing nothing. We will not be returning. read more

Worst service I've ever had in my life. I came in and ordered the usual- blackberry mojito! this "bartender" made an awefull drink not like the same ones I've had before! No meddled fresh berries and Literally the grossest bottom shelf rum I've ever had! I could not drink it it was nauseating so I just watched him and other bartender ignore me for 45 mins peeling lemons and having joyful loud conversations while I was staring and hollering at them attempting to order a meal !!! So I just left. But I'm sure they'll charge me for the drink anyways! they spent the whole time talking to some old dude drinking a beer! Other pple saw me trying to order but not the bartenders other customers were like i would have left 30 mins ago! Oh yeah I was there for 50 minutes! This place has gone down the hill A LOT! 5 friends and I had lunch at the Armory today and I'm sorry to say I would not recommend it!! I ordered the Caesar and my friend ordered the beet salad and with plans to share. Sadly, the beets were shriveled and seemed to be old. The caesar dressing was not quite right...needing more flavor. The Caesar cheese was similar to cardboard and the croutons were absolutely inedible. And, to make matters worse, their water tastes like sulfur. They do not offer bottled water...too bad! read more

The Armory was great all around. The design and ambiance of the place is fantastic! There are numerous options for where you can sit, some inside, some outside- we opted for outside on the second level with a beautiful view. Our server Ally was the best! So attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. And the food is excellent. Lots of made from scratch options. We loved everything we ordered- the brisket, the prime rib French dip sandwich, the ahi poke bowl. We will be back for sure! read more

Food..this resturant was recommended by our hotel. We shared our disappointing experience with hotel the next day. Shockingly bad experience with the "Brisket". Waitress said that we were lucky as that they had just done their weekly smoking of the brisket so it would be fresh. What they first brought us was 1/3 fat of slices, very tough and fatty. Could not eat! we tried to be nice but told them. Then the manager brought us a few better slices - clearly newer slices (had they give us initially the remains from last week .. lt even looked different?). It too has large amounts of fat that should have been trimmed and even so, both the fat and the meat was extremely tough as it had not apparently been cooked long enough or correctly. I make brisket and eat it others brisket .. it was not right! I also spent years in Restaurant business, so I told them they should take it off the menu until they get it right, as even their 2nd try was no good. They merely gave us a credit/ removed for a glass of wine on the bill. read more

Just finished eating there this past weekend. The service was excellent, with the average wait time being less than 10 to 15 minutes for our meals. We were served by Emily, a wonderful witty and talented waitress who knows how to give a compliment or two :-) in addition, the drink menus were not just standard but also innovative and eclectic with one of my favorite drinks being a vanilla meal. The salad was great and the outside seating and open space was one of the more innovative and valuable experiences there as well. All in all, I would highly recommend that you take your friends and family to this establishment whenever you're in Sonora California. Definitely a five star experience! read more

First time to the armory since opening. Great selection of beer and my barrel aged manhattan was really good. We ate fish tacos and the hippy bowl and both were served quickly and were also very good. Service could be improved. It's semi-full service which is fine but as a first time customer it took a minute to figure out the program. The building is really cool and the private rooms look like a lot of fun. This is a really cool spot in Sonora. Great for a group with fire pits and a decent sized menu. The balcony offered a great view of Washington Street and fire pits too! They have a ton of taps, all solid craft brews. Something to know is that you do order at the bar for both foods and drinks before seating yourself. Initially, I was impressed with what a great looking place The Armory is. Mostly outdoors,some tables undercover or under big umbrellas. Perfect for those of us who are concerned about virus transmission. It's on two levels with downstairs being pick up your food and drinks and bring them back to your table. Upstairs is table service. Upper levels give some nice views of downtown Sonora. Food was simple and well done. Fish tacos were very good with a tasty tomatillo-pineapple salsa. Also split a large Caesar salad (good dressing). Steak on skewers was a little too done but the shoestring fries were very good(we got them with no garlic seasoning). Giant pretzel was fun with some grain mustard that was excellent All food is served on recyclable paper. A real energy saver. This is primarily a beer garden so, lots of choices on tap and in cans/bottles. There are also mixed drinks and some are barrel aged. Wine list is minimal but not bad. I think they could do a little better with wine selection. There are two dessert possibilities but, we had ordered too much food and had to pass. Service was friendly and pretty fast. Servers have to climb a flight of stairs to deliver your food and drinks. Our sever told us he did this maybe 100 to 200 times in a shift. Whew! Please note-there is a small elevator if you have difficulty with stairs but,you have to get someone to unlock it. We had a lot of fun and really enjoyed ourselves. We'll be coming back. read more

I was so excited about the opening of The Armory. I went there for lunch on a weekend and was very disappointed. They have a full bar but will not make you a cocktail only if it's a premixed drink. Don't like everything was ordered from Costco and just heated up or shaken up and given to you. Staff seemed to be inconvenienced if you ask for anything. And I don't appreciate having self-serve bars to get salt and pepper, water or any condiments. I was hopeful that this would be a fun place to go hang out with my friends. What a huge disappointment. We stopped in after attending a funeral and a long travel day. We had the dog with us and it was too hot for her to stay in the car! The patio was shaded with misters and a breeze. Our puppy was content to lie on the cool concrete! They even brought her a bowl of water! Two of us ordered shrimp tacos and one in our party ordered fish tacos. Two of us drank CaliSqueeze beers from Firestone Brewery and the other ordered Taco Truck from Dust Bowl! The toasted flour tortilla was crisp, the seafood was fresh and tasty and the toppings were plentiful and varied! All 3 of us yummed over the very delicious meal. But, then, we ordered the brownie à la mode with bourbon sauce. The brownie was soft, the ice cream vanilla bean and the bourbon sauce was the perfect salted caramel! Scrumptious!! Service was prompt. Restaurant was clean and unique! Price was on point, not expensive. Servings were hearty! We will definitely be back on our next trek into Sonora! Had our first experience at the armory today!!! Amazing is an understatement. The atmosphere is everything from the beer tap waterfall, the brick, the open concept and the fun family/date night/day drinking hot spot and everything in between. The kids had a ball playing with the blocks and climbing the rocks. The the agua Fresca with tequila was so refreshing! We had the loaded fries and chicken sandwich and they both were unreal!!!! I was so excited for this place to open! And am so disappointed. First, the great- the staff is amazing! Super friendly and helpful. The ambiance is amazing! Just stunning, and never had I wished I could have a proper brunch experience in Sonora as much as I did sitting here. But alas, apparently a brunch menu would only add to the schizophrenic menu. I will say that they have the best purse hooks at the bar in the county! The bar has 1 type of each kind of alcohol, and it's crappy. Which makes no sense given the size of the bar! (And the margins on booze) The menu.... Is weird. It can't decide if it is Mexican, French, southern...... I had the Baja tacos - which were bland and at 16.00 I would hope for more than 2 shrimp per taco. I hope the place evolves to be something more interesting that doesn't offer only ambiance and beer. read more

My husband and I came to Sonora for a wedding for the weekend, and stayed close to downtown. We came to The Armory after a hike for a beer and some lunch. I saw they had a vegan option (I'm not particularly vegan, but enjoy eating clean). I ordered the Hippie Bowl, with extra broccoli, add shrimp. My husband ordered the shrimp tacos. The food was fresh and delicious. (The tomatillo salsa was fire!) We ordered a few crispy Hazy IPAs to go with our food. I appreciated the smaller, more focused food menu (that tells me they make things fresh and care about the quality of their ingredients). We enjoyed the food so much, we went back for Father's Day dinner. Keep up the fresh food and keep the menu small and innovative (and the beer list long ) and we will be back the next time we're in town! read more
