It is not temporarily closed, we were there last week. Sat at the bar and enjoyed watching Roger make a lot of cocktails. The drinks we had were excellent and there are numerous cocktails to choose from. The giant pretzel was soft and fresh and the tacos were excellent. The Armory has only been open since May. We stumbled upon it this afternoon after a day of viewing wildflowers in the area. It's obviously a popular place as evidenced by the crowd. We walked in and it was not at all clear what we were suppose to do. Order somewhere and wait? Was there a server? A hostess? After a good while of waiting at a table we asked at the bar and were told for downstairs eating/drinking you ordered at the bar, got a number and waited for your order. If you went upstairs there was a server. After enduring an intensely unnerving elevator 'lift' (It would be perfect for Halloween--Extremely tight space, slow moving, complete with screeches, groans and mechanical bangs.) And alas, no seating upstairs. At that point we returned to the bar (took the stairs which says something as i am disabled and avoid stairs at most times). And then things took a turn for the better! The staff (and owner) we interacted with were friendly, helpful, efficient and kind. Really outstanding. We enjoyed a beer, then fish and beef tacos. Food-great; service-outstanding. The place is very attractive, especially for a younger crowd. Seating options are not great for people with disabilities. Would we go again? Absolutely! This place has more going for it than any new restaurants I've visited recently. A few tweaks to the ambiance would make it perfect! read more

Great ambiance good drinks and good food. The menu is small but has a few creative healthy options which is like finding a unicorn in tuolumne county. Execution and service are good most of the time but a few hiccups here and there, which right now (spring 2023) is common at all restaurants in the county. Some servers are just young clueless and untrained but the bar service is usually good. All told it is one of my go to local places. read more

The Armory is exactly what downtown Sonora has been missing!! We absolutely love going there for a weekly girls night. The margaritas are always amazing and so refreshing on these hot nights. Literally the worst place on the planet, as you arrive at 8:45. No staff to great you. The bartender has one customer doesn't care. They then at 8:57 say we closed our kitchen. Though online it says there open til 10 pm. Then ur screwed and can only find pizza to eat after 9pm. The literally will ruin your night! read more

Beautiful decor! We ordered the Baja Tacos and Ahi Poke. Food is decent, but can slightly step up the freshness and originality given the super cool vibe of the restaurant & price tag. If the outdoor seating can be explicitly dog friendly, that would be amazing! We often drive back to town with our labradoodle and detour to Washington St. for casual shopping and dinning. We're often limited with dog friendly options and make the decision to skip town excursions. read more

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! OK let me start off by saying this is not really a restaurant. I would only give it three or four stars for its food. The menu could use some help it would at least be four stars if it had a burger on there. There is a build Your own Armory hotdog which seemed interesting and I did not try this time. I got the loaded fries they were good. 15 bucks for an okay size plate. Again this is not a restaurant and it would only get three or four stars if it was. I give it five stars because of the atmosphere and great beer selection they have. The waitresses are amazing super friendly. Probably the most friendly waitresses in all of Sonora. The owner herself is hustling her ass off as one of the waitresses/bartenders. I say waitresses but again this is not a restaurant. They had live music playing and are gonna open the bourbon barrel part in about a month. They are kid friendly which I love! I didn't see much of a selection for kid menu items. But once again for the third time this is not a restaurant. I will be definitely coming back here probably at least once a month with the family. I went alone today just to check it out after work because my family is out of town. The owner was super sweet she spent time talking to me telling about how they ended up owning the place. I loved that she was one of the ones that was back there taking beer orders and food orders. This is definitely my top two or three place for sure now and I like I said once a month at the very least. Which is a lot for me due to I only go out 3 to 4 times a month in total. I cannot wait for the bourbon barrel part to open here soon! Just simply beautiful and amazing the environment and atmosphere and I can't get over it! read more

My husband and I had heard so many amazing reviews about this place from friends and family. Last night we decided to get some dinner since we were in town. It was raining and the inside cocktail lounge was incredibly crowded, however, the bar in the outside seating area had just enough coverage and heated lamps. We were quite comfortable. The staff was incredibly nice and genuine, providing great and fast service. I got the Firestone Walker Mocha Dolce stout and my husband got the Chronic Brewing Pizza Port amber ale. Both were incredible, smooth, and great quality. We both had the Kobe Beef savory sliders with fries. Amazing, juicy, flavorful, and a great portion of food. Highly recommended. Can't wait to return again and try more of their menu. read more

Seems like someone is trying to make up for lost money? Super expensive for what you get, poorly made margarita was $18, a small plate of fries ( loaded but really a poorly made mess cost $15, A large soft Pretzel $15 one skewer of steak on a small portion of fries $18. Lets be real! if it does not change it will not last!! If you care at all about food value then this place is one of the worst choices. I have been to over 1000 restaurants in California I see the same mistakes over and over this place has numerous flaws and lessons to learn. The kids plate was $8 but they charged $2 for each side of Ranch and literally its just the tiny plastic little cup of ranch. No paper receipts without asking. The bill is electronic she stands there while you take the computer device and so you are forced to tip 18 - 40% on the screen without being able to see what your being charged for. For people visiting this area and i would never recommend this place for anything other than seeing the atmosphere and maybe a $10 beer if your splurging. Way better choices available. Positives - The building and the atmosphere is nice really good looking venue and decoration with poor service horrible food to value ratio and ridiculous over charges. read more

Me and my friend Greg that works here are working on a new martini. The one they have already is called the "butterfly effect" and is delicious. We are coming up with the "Venus fly trap effect". We were chatting some time back and I mentioned that I personally operate like a Venus fly trap but I never close. People's curiosity of how weird I am draws them closer until they are trapped in my vortex of love and mystery. But I let them live so we can all enjoy that love together one way or another (wink wink). I am thinking two marijuana leaves as the plant part inside of a V shaped martini glass then vodka and honey whiskey and a little bit of "fireball" for that toxic "burn" with three small coffee beans in the center to represent flys. But must be reddish in color for the drink. Maybe add some cranberry juice if needed. Just like Kayla and I worked on the "C.O.V.I.D. Shot". It's a shot of Cranberry juice, Orange liqueur, Vodka, Irish whiskey and Disaronno all spelled out to a delicious "COVID SHOT". God bless you guys and we shall create more..... read more

Great place! I stopped by with my family for lunch. The food is very fresh and tasty. I had the fish tacos and was impressed by the fresh tortilla, the batter and fry on the fish, and fresh slaw and pickled onions on top. My son had the kids chicken tenders and waffle fries. They were freshly made and tasted excellent. The outdoor seating is inviting and nicely shaded. They have a nice variety of beers on tap. Service was also friendly and swift. read more

I am local to the Sonora (since 1999). A good friend of mine, also local to Sonora, suggested I try The Armory as my family & I loved going to the Standard & Emberz, both restaurants are located in Sonora, as we felt comfortable & treated like family there. We continued going to The Armory as they were originally friendly to my family and myself. I recently started to feel a tad uncomfortable as the service appeared to being going south. I asked my buddy if he and his family wanted to join my family & me for dinner at The Armory and he politely declined. I asked why and he was honest to communicate that he stopped going there as he brought to my attention that he believed The Armory did not prepare their own food & must bring it in. I asked what his justification was. He asked me do you ever smell food coming from the kitchen. I said no. He mentioned there you go. Recently we went to The Armory for dinner & a cocktail. There was live music and appeared to be a fun & enjoyable evening with family. To our surprise the bar tender and food server were ignoring us (which was very odd). I brought this to the bar tenders attention as feedback. The bar tender was livid and rude by saying, "I am the manager & can serve whoever I choose to serve". I was shocked as we were in the barrel room and the majority of customers were young & straight. I really felt ashamed & discriminated & brought this to the bar tender's attention and suggested that she needs to be fair to us older customers & stop ghosting us. It was odd as the food server also failed to serve my family and was more motivated to help the younger straight customers. The situation got out of control & next thing that happened is a female manager came into room--out of the blue and had this unpleasant look as if she did not want to get the situation under control and do her job to own it. She immediately started yelling at me and I felt very uncomfortable and threatened by her inappropriate demeanor & unprofessionalism. I was able to get one word & communicated clearly & nicely that I was providing feedback to the poor service. She was very closed minded & next thing I know other customers were meddling into my conversation with the manager. I politely mentioned to the customer to customer that this was not his concern and I was leaving immediately due to the ugly situation caused by the poor customer service. I will never go back to The Armory as they need to look for opportunities to improve and are closed minded to customer feedback. I learned In corporate America that feedback is good so that we can grow. It's The Armory loss as my friend and myself independently found that they have issues to fix. It's a shame as the owners were so kind to my family and me. read more

This is a place to go have drinks with friends. I tried to call the Armory prior to going there but you can not talk to anyone, it's a recording only. The atmosphere is great but the service is nonexistent. You order food online and order drinks at the bar, no service at the table whatsoever. We saw the server one time, when she delivered our food. She said nothing to us, no hello, no acknowledgment at all. The food is ok but this is a place to have a beer or cocktail with your friends not for a good meal and good service.
