Their work is good and the nail techs are nice however the lady in charge / at the front is quite aggressive & rude. I came in for a gel removal. I was in the chair for max 15 minutes and I had to wait a bit for the nail tech. The job was average and she was fine. It was a very quick job. The main lady gave me attitude when I did not tip higher for the $25 job. Reminder that tips are not mandatory and should reflect the service provided. When it's a long gel manicure application I will absolutely tip at least 20% as skill and effort are present. However I did not like how she behaved. She was rude. Will not be returning. read more

My friend recommended this salon and I am very happy with it. Never a wait when making an appoinment (other salons I have made appointments and they don't seem to honor those appointment times). Both time I have come I have gotten a basic pedicure and a chair massage. The basic pedicure gives you a choice of a scent for the foot soak. They will ask if you want your nails trimmed or just filed. They will also ask if you want them to work on your callouses (which for me is always yes...lol). It is a very relaxing experience just for the basic. Last time they asked if I wanted reflexology, which I agreed upon. There are different amounts of time you can pick. I went with 15 minutes and it was just enough. They have a great selection of colors to choose from as well. The technicians are always very pleasant. Last time I went I went for a 30 minute chair massage. It was very relaxing and heard a lot of my knots popping which is always satisfying. This salon is always very clean and very spacious. You are not on top of everyone in the pedicure or manicure chairs, which is nice. read more

I have been going to Art Nails for about 20 years. By far , they are the best. They know their customers by name and always make you feel welcome. I know some people mentioned high prices. I disagree. Their prices are reasonable. What do people pay for a massage , a meal at a restaurant etc ? I would suggest making an appointment. I always ask if now is a good time because like any business some times are busier than others. Another comment I read was about tipping . 20% in my opinion is not enough. They might charge $35 for a service and spend an hour with you- that is $7. In my opinion, they deserve more. They have families to support as well. I would highly recommend going to Art Nails. This review is not about nails, this is about their bikini wax service. I've been getting bikini waxes for about 20 years and of course have had mishaps happen but this was beyond the pale. I was explicit to leave a certain square inch area unwaxed. I like leaving this area alone because it's too painful to wax. I pointed to it, she nodded and yessed me. I said out loud "no waxing here" and pointed to it, and you guessed it...yowch beyond. I didn't want to leave looking like a black & white cookie so I asked her to finish so I could leave. In addition I asked her to blow on the wax because it was way too hot, I asked a few times but she still ignored me...it wasn't till I pushed her off of me yelping in pain and finally crying for her to say "sorry it was a mistake." Then kept saying sorry over and over which like, lady I just want to get this over with. Finally she offered to pluck the remaining hairs, I said "no I'll do that at home myself i just want to go" she went in anyway so I firmly said NO and pushed her off me AGAIN. Honestly I don't think it was malice I think she was just super on autopilot which i get it it's been a long day, but I got proper hurt. Cherry on top: She still charged me after that debacle. I don't know about anyone else, but if I made a client full out actually cry and I knew I messed up more than one way? I'm not charging them, or at least I'm offering something in kind. I have been coming to this salon for several years now and will never go anywhere else! Every person who works here has done my manicure or pedicure at some point and I have never left dissatisfied. The service is great for the money - from getting to choose which scent you'd like everything to be for your pedicure, to the complimentary shoulder massage at the end of every service. It saddens me to write this review as I have been a patron of Art Nails in Plainsboro for YEARS. Today was the last straw, and I will no longer be a patron of this salon due to what I feel are unethical business practices. For years, I have gotten gel manicures and pedicures from Art Nails. I've always returned because they do good work the majority of the time. Last year I started to get "sets" put on with sculpting gel. The full set cost ranges and a typical fill is $60; pedicures are $35. Today, my nail technician was not happy with how my nails looked when I sat down at her station. She asked if I had them done somewhere else to which I replied "no". She asked when I had my nails done last- I told her I was in two weeks ago on a Wednesday. She asked who did my nails, and I told her I didn't remember because in the moment, I didn't. As I sat there and looked around the salon, I remembered who did and it seemed wrong to throw this girl under the bus to this aggressive nail technician (who has acted this way with me before). There have now been multiple times where the owner has tried to charge me for a full set on a fill because I "waited too long". This happened AGAIN today when I was in 16 days after my last fill (their suggested timeframe is two weeks, so I was all of two days over). Again- I explained all this to my nail technician. The owner told me that I hadn't been to the salon for over a month (the date when I last had an appt to get my full set put on). I explained to her that I was a walk-in last time just like I was today. She continued to interrogate me, asking me who did my nails. At this point I looked back and the girl who had previously done my nails was making eye contact with me. I pointed her out to which the owner replied "oh ___ did your nails". She charged me the regular fill price, I paid, I tipped, and I left upset and quite frankly, embarrassed. No apology- nothing. First of all, a fill is a fill. If I'm not coming in with bare nails, and I don't need tips put on, then I should be charged for a fill. I have NEVER experienced this at any other nail salon. It's not like I'm waiting a month. Today I was two days over their suggested two week timeframe. I also have a major problem with accusations being cast about me not coming in often enough when in actuality the issue is due to another nail technician's poor work. Today isn't the first time this happened. Some nail technicians do the nails a bit thicker and the one I had today doesn't. She judges the other technicians' work and tries to blame it on the customers. She doesn't have the greatest attitude or demeanor for interacting with people. For example, after she finished filing and buffing, my thumb nail was jagged so I asked her to fix it before she started to polish. Without even taking in what I said she replied, "No! That's just your nail." Uhhh no it's not. That's the whole point of a nail file ‍ The major issue is this all playing out at the time that payment is due, having to defend myself in the middle of a busy salon, and being made a spectacle. This is something that I've witnessed with other customers, as well. It's embarrassing and as someone who is a regular- spends plenty of money in the salon and tips well, I don't deserve that. No one does. One final thing- this salon has a rewards system which I never knew about until I heard another customer inquire about her reward last year. They take the last 4 digits of your cell phone and log your services- you're supposed to earn a reward from all you spend. After I heard the woman ask last year, I asked if I had a reward. The owner looked at my account wide-eyed and said "you can have a free pedicure next time". Again- been coming here for years! Not once was I ever informed that I had earned a reward. This is something else that I feel is shady and not right. If you have this system, inform your customers when they've earned a reward! It's a shame, but after today I'll never go back. The customer service really lacks and it seems like they want to get an extra buck out of you in any way they can. I'll spend my money somewhere else. read more

Truly the worst gel manicure I've ever had. The tech used a ridiculous amount of base coat and top coat, effectively gluing my nail to my skin. Then when I said something about it, she proceeded to file aggressively INTO my skin saying "it's fine, but your fault your nails are short." Fact: she filed them too short when I arrived. This was sloppy and careless and Despite my protesting throughout the manicure, at the end, she told me to go home and fix it myself. I went today for the first time to have a Manicure/Pedicure at this so-called nail salon....I first had a pedicure which was very good...Then, I was "transferred" to a different person for the manicure...In all my life, and I have been doing manicures for forty years, have I ever experienced anything so awful...The entire manicure took about five (5) minutes and consisted of shaping the nails and putting on polish...There was no hand massage, no hot towel, no cleaning under the nails...NOTHING....And the price was $50 plus 3% extra for credit card use....Avoid Art Nails & Spa at all cost...many fine salons in the area but this one is a disaster.... read more

What more could you ask for with a DD right to the left to grab a coffee while your toes are tended to with an expert pedi. The staff was super friendly and accommodated a last minute walk in at 930 am on a Saturday. Wide selection of colors and brands of polish including the latest on trend colors from Essie and OPI. Prices for services were extremely fair for the length of the service, which ended with a nice little shoulder massage while my toes dried. I would suggest bringing cash for the gratuity. Definitely worth the stop if you're a visitor (like me) or perhaps searching for a new place to become a regular! read more

I got a refill done here today and it was a horrible experience. The tech cut my multiple times with the drill and was very rough the whole time. not only was she in a rush but she also did not listen when I asked for straight square nails and only some files down. I told her and the owner my concerns and they just argued over me in their own language and the tech continued the refill. I was extremely unhappy when I realized how much space was left between my new gel fill and my cuticle, it looked like it was already a week grown out and the gel was lumpy. The tech just kept telling me that she had done this for years and knew what she was doing. She proceeded to cover my nails in 4 coats of polish. Even though I was her last customer of the day, she didn't rush and explained to me each step of the process. My nails look good and my overall experience was very pleasant! I went for a basic manicure midweek at 3pm. I assumed they would not be busy at that time, and that was unfortunate. It looked like all the nail technicians were busy with clients, so I knew I had to wait. I took my time to pick a color and 15 minutes went by. Two different customers came in and were promptly served (probably regulars). My expression of surprise was noticed by someone, who then told me to take a seat at an empty station, giving me a false sense of security. I waited there for 15 minutes more. I really wanted to leave but driving to another place would've been another inconvenience. Finally, I was directed to another station. I just wanted to get done and out of there. The worker apologized for my wait right before she asked me to pay. She added that Monday to Wednesday are their busiest time. Say WHAT!? But like I said, I just wanted to get out of there. The polish job was ok, the massages were nice, but overall my manicure was rushed during filing and cuticle cleaning (leaving jagged edges near cuticles). There was also no warm water soak at the beginning (but maybe that is not standard practice for them). At the end of the day, I got what I needed, but I don't appreciate being treated as second rate. I'm skipping this place next time, even if I have to drive further from home. P.S. I have to add that the people seen ahead of me were both white. This echoes a similar complaint written by another Yelper just a week ago. So there's a pattern. read more

As someone who religiously gets their nails done at multiple salons - this is the first time I had a negative experience this bad. The lady sprayed me with water for like 2 minutes straight at the beginning of the pedicure so I had to sit there soaked for my whole pedicure. It was an accident so that part didn't make me as mad as how they reacted. they acted like it didn't happen and I was wet and uncomfortable the whole rest of the time. Also the lady & man weren't gentle and were so spazzy. I'm not the type to even post a review but this experience was so unpleasant. I drove down to this nail salon in Princeton today to get my nails done bc their gels hold up SO well. My 3rd time there. This time I made an appt bc the first two times they were shuffling me btwn 2 and 3 different ppl for clients who had appts. I walk in 5 min early, let them know I made an appt for 1 and they tell me to have a seat. 10 min go by and no one comes to start my nails. I mention I made an appt and the one woman says a nail tech who is finishing a pedicure would be with me shortly. 10 more min and a whole other woman comes and starts on my nails. Three white women come in with no appt and she leaves me, to get them to someone. Told me I would have to move over a chair. I walked out. She comes flying out of the salon GRABBING my arm saying "Please I so sorry. I ready for you now!" I looked at her and my arm and said "Its fine. Let me go." and left. It's so unfortunate that I've had such an experience. I was willing to drive 40 minutes for the quality of their service but now after 3 visits I will no longer be an Art of Nails customer. She barely cleaned the cuticles, got up multiple times during and when it came time to painting, she painted all over my nail and the skin around my toe. This was one of the worst experiences I have gone through for a fill & gel pedi- I made an appointment and they were so adamant on squeezing as many walk-ins as possible that my appointment was kind of pointless - they forgot about me and I had to wait longer for my pedicure- & prior to my pedicure one of the workers yells at my pedicurist to hurry up and do my pedi in the middle of her doing someone else's manicure- so the lady who did mine was super stressed which showed in the work because my pedicure was quite sloppy she got the nail polish all over my cuticles on my toes and the experience was painful all the way from the cuticle/nail scraping to the clipping/filing - then on top of the chaos I go to pay and I leave and she chases me down to the car and demand that I go back inside and tip (which I do naturally if the service is good) and I did choose to tip the manicurist not many complaints there but she was like well what about your toes and I said no offense but I wasn't satisfied it's very sloppy and I don't feel obligated to tip for work I'm not satisfied with and she was at least nice and apologized but the whole experience was unprofessional- everyone was overbooked and stressed and it showed - they need to do better with their time management instead of trying to squeeze as many people in as possible for a profit because that defeats the purpose of appointments read more
