He asked me to send him inspiration so I created a sample in AI just to share my idea as he requested. He absolutely did not like that approach as he felt it inhibited his creative freedom. I tried explaining that it was just a point of reference, much like my Pinterest vision board. I was so excited on my way to the consultation appointment. However, after driving 1 hour in the rain, he cancelled it on the spot because of our creative differences. He claimed to have sent an email to cancel the meeting in advance but actually DID NOT so my time was completely wasted. I thought I was the client. A tattoo is a permanent decision. He even admitted to me in the first meeting that in his own words was literally "dog s*&t at checking email" which was an unprofessional red flag from the beginning. He actually repeated that statement several times to me. Now I see why. I feel that my input should be respected. Upon my arrival to his shop, Killian began to be confrontational and disrespectful with the tone in which he chose to speak. I mentioned that coming to the appointment (that he had just cancelled) was a bad use of my time, he became defensive and rude and blamed it on me. I found Killian to be unprofessional and difficult to work with. After leaving this review, he sent me an unpleasant email further voicing negative comments. Getting a tattoo or several in my case is a very personal experience where you should be made to feel completely safe and that is not the case with Killian. If you want to have creative input over your personal design process, I recommend going to Unbroken in Reston. You deserve respect when paying a vendor for a service and have your vision carried out professionally and collaboratively.

I'm not very experienced with tattoos and tend to be a baby with pain and can't even look at needles but Jacqi is very experienced and made the whole process smooth and easy. I sent over two inspo pictures and she got the design just right with the font, spacing and even delicateness of the letters! I absolutely love it. I normally get skin hives from environmental stressors but my tattoo was only slightly red immediately after and not hiving at all in the recovery. It is healing really well, too. Lora is truly the best -- highly recommend. I used to have very low piercings and they looked terrible. I tried getting stacked piercings at Rowan, but the nurse (piercer) didn't really know what they were doing. My ears were poked multiple times, nothing was lined up, and it just looked off. Even though I paid a lot, I ended up taking them out. Then I went to Lora -- she immediately understood what I wanted, walked me through everything, and gave thoughtful recommendations. The result looks SO much better. I honestly wish I had found her earlier. Do not go to places that use piercing guns or devices -- they don't follow your markings properly. Go to Lora.

We provided numerous reference images and discussed the overall design and goal with him. We then paid a $500 deposit for him to design and draw the tattoo over the course of a month, with the rest due once we got the tattoo. We were really hopeful and encouraged based off his portfolio and the studio's overall reputation. First, we did not receive the design until 2 days before our appointment. Second, once we saw the design, it clearly involved clipart and AI. Third, the design did not match at all what we discussed in the studio. When we asked about how the design was generated, and specifically whether AI was used, Ken said no, he drew it himself. We gave him the benefit of the doubt and asked to talk about changes before coming to the studio. He said no, changes would have to be discussed and made same-day. Once we came to the studio, Ken was polite, but the disconnect only worsened. We explained the problems with the design, and gave additional reference images. He asked for some time to rework based off those reference images. 30 minutes later, he showed us a plainly AI generated, generic image that did not align with the design at all. At this point he admitted to using AI. We explained we did not want AI used to design the tattoo, and he said he would try again. 30 minutes later, he showed us a design outline. We noticed more inconsistencies that suggested it was still based off AI. We asked again whether AI was used again, and he admitted that he outlined the AI output based on a reference image we gave him. At this point we felt unheard and frustrated, and asked for a refund. He initially said no, and then ultimately conceded a partial-refund. In total, we spent $250 and 3 hours of our time to not get a human-made design, or a tattoo at all. We each have tattoos already. We appreciate and want to support artists. But this was unacceptable. If you want to know AI is not used in your tattoo, or feel confident that your design will be followed, do not go here.

I don't know if this is still the requirement. My tattoo session did get pushed back another week because the artist was quiet busy so that was not too exciting, but I was understanding. But overall, the place is close by to me, the artwork was very impressive, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a tattoo for a fair price.
