Afternoon Tea at the Atrium Lounge, Westin Dublin
    Torrie L.

I had an afternoon tea at the Atrium Lounge (in the Westin Hotel Dublin) in May 2023. It was an elevated and elegant experience, I felt a bit underdressed, but the staff treated us well and kindly. The service included unlimited tea, and very filling portions. The savory offerings were some of the most unique I've seen at an afternoon tea, and I loved that. The quality was fantastic and the service was very attentive. I would recommend planning to spend 2-3 hours at the Atrium Lounge for a tea experience - the staff expect guests to stay for an extended period in order to consume the large portions for tea. I would certainly return here! It is expensive, and I find it frustrating that the afternoon tea world really charges exorbitant prices that are above and beyond necessary. I paid close to $100 USD (or €90 euros) for this tea with Prosecco, whereas I would have priced it around $60.

Took a little break in here for some beverages and tapas. Very nice staff, all were friendly and attentive. We wanted to take a break from pubs and do something nicer for a change. The Atrium is inside the Westin Hotel. It's really pretty -- the size is deceiving from outside. You wouldn't think something like that would be in there. Everything was great from the staff, the food and the service. The reason for my 4 star is that when we were charged, it wasn't very clear on what we were charged for. We saw every item...fine. But charged 3 different times for gratuity? On the receipt, we filled in the slot for a tip while signing. When we got the print out, it says gratuity was ALREADY INCLUDED...then another type of gratuity as added for some kind of service charge? Not quite sure what all that was about but we didn't want to deal with it since we had a really long day. Here's what we ordered: - Charcuterie Board - selection of Irish and Continental cured meats, homemade breads, dips and olives. - Madame Figaro - Aperol infused strawberries, creme de mure, soda water up with Valdo Prosecco - Irish Coffee - Tea - came with cookies - Flourless Chocolate Brownie - served with clotted cream - Red Breast 15 yr Single Pot still Everything was exceptional. I took away one star for the gratuity thing. Make sure to ask if you decide on dining here.

Like stepping into a storybook or TV show about European gentry, the Atrium Lounge is a beautiful place for some tea, coffee, pastries, and foods. The decor is elegant, and the sky light gives the entire place a very bright feel. They have a large assortment of both savory and sweet items to pair with the drinks. We ordered jasmine green tea, quiche, short rib sandwich, and a chocolate mousse. The tea was perfect! It was served loose leaf in pretty tea cups that certainly matched with the overall decor of the lounge. The quiche was was nicely balanced in terms of egg, crust, and filling. The short rib sandwich was absolutely delicious! Nice, tender meat was complemented by the perfect amount of cheese. Lastly, the mousse was good, though slightly too sweet for my taste. It was dark chocolate and seemed to have some butterscotch or caramel as one layer. Overall experience was 5/5!

A Most Peculiar Afternoon Tea... they had me at 'peculiar'. Actually, they had me at "Victorian Mojito". Yes, mojitos for an afternoon tea bring the stuffiness factor down by several notches. The Atrium Lounge is on the third level of the Westin Hotel. Head upstairs and you'll not know what hit you. It's a far cry from the Mint Bar on the basement level. As soon as you get to the top you'll be washed in an abundance of natural light. What a setting! Look up at the rows of windows and you'll see what I mean. The ambiance is beautiful - gorgeous chairs in intimate settings for a small group of girlfriends or a mother-daughter outing or a romantic toast with your partner. Now, the sips and eats... There is a traditional afternoon tea; but, I'm reeled in by the idea of a 'peculiar tea'. We kicked it off with rose prosecco and then came the treats in the form of perfect litte bites: pork cheek, prawn cocktail, spiced roast beef, smoked Irish salmon and caviar, sundried tomato tapenade, banana honey bread, popcorn panna cotta (!) and chocolate caramel seasalt brownies! Then to top it all off: a teapot filled with a Victorian version of a Caribbean mojito made from Hendrick's Gin. And, it was absoloutely fantastic! This has to be the best tea in town! Book well in advance as the room fills up quickly. And, if you're going on a date, try to get one of the corner tables for two. They're a bit more private and romantic and one can sink, slide, and slither into the big comfy chair without barely being noticed after a couple cups of mojito and a glass of prosecco. Ahhh, me likey...

Signature Afternoon Tea for 2. Includes everything in the pic plus unlimited coffee/teas.

My husband and I had never had afternoon tea before, and since we were visiting from the USA we thought it would be fun to try. All of the sandwiches (5 different kinds!) were tasty. The scone with clotted cream and jam was my favorite, but the other muffins/tarts were good, too. By the time we got to the dessert plate we were 3 pots of tea in and pretty full, but we managed to eat everything. I had skipped breakfast and we went for a 12 noon tea time so we were set until dinner. All of the teas were amazing, and the service was top notch. If you are into food, skip the Gin/Champagne option and get the Signature. You get more food that way, and you can always go drink later

Since I don't eat red meat, I was very excited to see a vegetarian Irish breakfast option. I ordered this as well as a mocha latte. Despite the rain, my friend and I sat outside since all of the indoor seating was occupied. Thankfully some heaters provided warmth for what could've been a chilly breakfast. Very quickly the lattes came out which my friend and I sipped on. They were soooo cute, mine had the design of a little bear on top! The latte itself was hot and not too sweet, the perfect start to the experience. After a few short minutes, the food came out! Immediately, my friend and I dug in. It was honestly everything I expected and even more! There were no weak links on the plate and there were generous portions as well. I sat there for a while working my way through my delicious plate!! Overall, I was very happy with my experience at Beanhive. It was an aesthetic cafe that also provided a hearty breakfast. I would definitely recommend.

The first day we arrived to Dublin, I had a bit of a headache. I sent my husband in search of coffee and a bite in the hopes of warding off the headache. He brought back a tuna melt and mocha from The Bald Barista. Both were excellent. The tuna melt was herbaceous and flavorful and the mocha was the perfect blend or rich chocolate and strong espresso. So, a few days later when my mom arrived and was hoping for coffee and a bite, I said--I've got just the place! On that visit, we enjoyed our coffee and food in house. You order at the counter where you enter and if you're dining in, you simply take the stairs to the dining room and they'll bring you both your food and coffee. This time, I ordered the same coffee (why mess with a good thing) and a yogurt with everything (fruit, nuts, seeds--the works!). The shop itself is cute, warm, and inviting. The service is top notch with beautifully friendly folks working in here (including the Bald Barista himself). If you're in Dublin and are looking for an exemplary cuppa and some tasty bites served with a smile--this is your spot. Get to it!

So much food to try! So many options! I'm glad we only found the Bald Barista on our second-to-last morning in Dublin. The lattes were delicious, no doubt, but a med-low bar imho. What got me were the absolutely perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. By far the best eggs I've ever had at a restaurant. Service was lovely, everyone was super nice. The place was clean (even the loo), and I loved all the coffee kitsch (knick-knacks) on shelves around the place.

Friendly service. For breakfast, I loved their vegetarian Irish breakfast that they no longer make, but they do have a traditional Irish breakfast. I also tried their baked beans and kale that came with tomato baked beans and fried kale on bread and topped with fried eggs (€14.5). It was good. Another breakfast item that is served for breakfast or all day on the weekends. Their Caprese sandwich for lunch is addictive and they pair it with a great tasty bread (€11). Their cakes and teas are tasty, I love their chocolate cake. Their coffee, lattes and Mocha are average. But the experience and atmosphere still make them enjoyable. Overall, this is a place that I will always visit.

They prepare and serve up coffee as a city better than any other city in the world. Sorry Seattle, Portland, its the truth. As a full fledge coffee nerd/snob I am looking for great coffee nothing more. Also if they don't roast their own beans and they are just serving someone else's coffee they will never get above a 3 star from me. I am looking strictly at the coffee and the customer service in my reviews. Accents was fantastic. When I walked in the Barista, a pretty little red headed Irish woman was doing some spectacular latte art on a Mocha, she smiled and asked me what I would like. I order just a regular Latte. They do not roast their own beans, but she was out of coffee in the grinder, she reached for a new sealed bag and I caught the name, McCabe's. I was unfamiliar so afterward I looked them up. here is the link if anyone is interested. (https://mccabecoffee.com) Local award winning Cork roaster. I watched the Barista, fill the grinder and then told me it would be a minute as she needed to dial in the espresso. I shook my head in a circle like I didn't get it but okay. She had it dialed in after 3 shots. looked like 18 in and 36 out. She was a pro, steamed my milk while the shot pulled in about 24 seconds. I ordered my drink to go but it was still presented with great art and a smile. Told me where the sugar and lids were but suggested I tried it before i added anything, that the espresso is very good. I tasted it and said, "You are right, needs nothing" and it didn't. BEST LATTE I HAVE HAD THIS TRIP TO DUBLIN.
