What a hot mess. There was a last minute rescheduling, because the ladder had not arrived. Then they had said 6 hours to move a recessed light, install a drop down ladder and an attic fan. After 6 hours the first day, they gave up without completing anything. They didn't reposition the light as agreed and could not install the fan because they had not brought one - or even received it yet as we later discovered. The ladder was not appropriate and would not extend. They said they had received a defective ladder. Perhaps. That happens, but a business that specializes in ladder installation would be expected to maintain a suitable inventory. They don't. They said they would order a different type of ladder. Does that mean they tried to install the wrong kind initially? Where is the specialist aspect? They hung plastic as I requested, but a film of dust covered the floor and furniture down the hall into the living room because of the way they hung the protective plastic. There was debris left outside when they left. A day or so later, they reached out to ask if we could provide a "progress payment" so they could order the new ladder (and fan?). This was beyond the agreed upon deposit that we had already paid. As a good faith gesture, I advanced them a little more, but less than the request. A properly run business should be able to front the money for supplies. Apparently, no inventory and no cash flow. They complained that they wouldn't make any profit on the job. I am not surprised. Mismanaging inventory and worker's time will often eat up the profit. A few days later, they completed the work (in 7 more hours), but I cannot say the install could be called precision or even neat. Irregular shaped gaps appear and are not covered by the molding around the opening they cut. The handle to pull for the ladder was installed backwards and our bathroom fan vent tube was disconnected left discharging into the insulation instead of outside and Trash was left in the attic. Not very professional which is not too surprising since they were relying on a YouTube video during the installation. I cannot recommend these guys. A common theme here seems to be a response from Christina saying they have never done business with someone complaining on yelp. Consumers ask yourselves why anyone would go to the trouble of writing lengthy reviews if they had not even been customers. What would be the motivation if not to warn others? They deserve a negative ZERO if Yelp would allow it. The bottom line is they STOLE my deposit of $1428, which was well OVER the standard 10% of $9520, and refused to refund me when I cancelled WITHIN the THREE-DAY PERIOD according to the California Home Solicitation Sales Act. The only people who I had contact via text and telephone only with was Alex and a person who claims herself to be Christina (with her is via texts only). I was given a quote online without an in-person estimate. Everyone else that I'd contacted-and I contacted many-scheduled appointments for in-person estimates. The persons associated with the license is Sergey and Suzy Or. They had a suspended license due to failure to purchase bond when I first checked, but I see they have recently updated it. To make a long story short, I canceled because there were too many red-flags. Alex confirmed my suspicion when he first agreed to bring his business card for an in-person estimate which I insisted on then Cancelled the morning of. After some back and forth, they offered various amends like come out later in the day, another day, return partial payment BUT I HAVE YET TO SEE MY MONEY. So yeah, regardless of what they claim and may claim in response to this review, frauds and thieves. BTW, unlike other companies, there are no reviews as of this writing that include pictures of work they did. Hmmm... Buyer beware. Today is the 10th day, last day the law provides for them to fully refund me. I have yet to see a penny of my deposit back! Shame on you. read more

I always enjoy and prefer working with companies where the owners are the operators who do their own work. You will get quality service and workmanship because it is their reputation and brand on the line. We were in the process of remodeling our recently purchased, old 5k SF house and found a lot of rat droppings and very old and dangerous insulation that literally evaporated into the air when you touched it... With young children, we knew that we had to get this removed, much to the pain I thought I would feel in my wallet. I called multiple companies and received quotes that ranged from $15k, $10k and $8k. (Side note - all of these companies came down at least 30-40% when I didn't call them back, which told me that they had margin to spare and were trying to price gouge me due to the size of my house). I called the Attic Specialist and spoke with Suzy. She was no nonsense and got straight to the point and gave me a price that I thought was too good to be true... .. But it was true and I was so glad that I went with Suzy and Sergey. We scheduled a date and they came on time and knocked out my whole attic in 1 day. I was very pleased with their work, but was even more impressed with their follow-up. Two days later, my contractor told me that he noticed a few lights that weren't fully sealed (I have an old house with a complicated attic floor plan). I guess he does not care what his customers have to say. Make sure you get everything in writing. Christina quoted me different terms than Suzy did and I had to send Suzy my emails as she was cursing me out and yelling at me. She did not even apologize after I sent her the documents. Christina apologized on her behalf when she returned to the office. Also be careful as they will try to sell you services that are unnecessary. I checked with AC guy before signing the contract and leaving the deposit. Research other companies before settling with The Attic Specialist. Sergey and his crew were great. Fast estimate, quick workers, and they setup a plastic containment to avoid dust entering the house. Before the installation, they vacuumed the attic and spray sealed it as well. My house previously had no insulation, so the difference was immediate. We gained about 5-10 degrees at night (November). I'm looking forward to cooler summer as well. After about a week, my bathroom fan/vent was making a strange smell.
