So good, even my dog wants a ham egg and cheese bagel sandwich!

Okay holy cow. I ordered bakehouse on DoorDash - which was taking a chance! I try to only order from places I've been before so I know what to expect. But on this particular day I chose to try it out. I got a ham egg and cheese on a sesame bagel that was truly fantastic! I was shocked. It was so stuffed full of ingredients and was so yummy and filling. I also got a caramel latte. Usually when I DoorDash coffee drinks they're subpar... but I gasped this was so delicious! Highly recommend and so happy I found a great spot!

This was a quick stop to fill my empty belly for breakfast and was treated to an excellent shop. To start, this is a quaint, well decorated shops that I could easily see as a great place to meet friends or do some work. For a small cafe, the menu is well laid out with lots of options. I went with the cinnamon roll which was doused (in a good way) with a sugary, sour cream topping. Without asking they warmed it up for me which added to its super fresh taste. Service was outstanding and friendly. Stop here instead of the generic Starbucks down the street!

This is my second time here. I was a little disappointed with my friend's Strawberry cheesecake. It was crumbled into chunks, not smooth like cheesecake should be. I had the Blueberry Muffin; it was just OK. The bathroom had water on the floor, and the service was cordial and prompt. The coffee is a standout--always fresh!

Wasted money $28?!. Got matcha latte which doesn't taste matcha at all, tastes all milk with sugar. Avocado&salmon sandwich on crossiant gross, way too salty, nothing special.

On today's coffee shop tour, we have The Bakehouse. It's located on the corner of Damen & Roscoe and there's plenty of paid street parking given the number of shops and restaurants around. When I stopped in there was no one here, though it was close to 5 pm on a Sunday evening. In addition to the indoor seating, they have several tables outside. They have a lot of drinks on their menu, much of what you'd see in any coffeehouse. They also have a lot of baked goods as you might expect from a place with their name. Prices were really reasonable for both the drinks and desserts. Given the time of day, most of the baked goodies were gone, but they had cookies and many desserts left. In addition to a caramel latte and a passionfruit lemonade, I picked up a piece of chocolate mousse cake and some banana pudding. When my SO tasted the latte he asked if there was pepper or cayenne in it; I wonder if he was primed for it since I've been bringing him coffees with cayenne, peppercorn, or other unusual coffee additives. It was still good though! And my passionfruit lemonade was freaking delicious. I didn't know if I'd like it at all but it was so good and I'd have it again in a heartbeat. When I was heading out the employee was kind enough to come around and open the door for me since I was carrying an occupied car seat, and although I would have gotten out on my own it was much easier with his help. The desserts were good, particularly (in my opinion) the banana cream pudding. The chocolate mousse cake was VERY rich so I'm glad I'd planned on us sharing them both from the start; I wouldn't have been able to finish it on my own. They also had some really cute cakes of which I took photos. Having tasted their sweet treats I'd consider having them make a cake for my daughter's birthday.

So incredibly disappointed. They have beautiful custom cakes displayed on their website. Fun fondant creations and one-of-a-kind designs. I've never ordered a cake from them before but their work looked so solid. My son turned 15 today. He is obsessed with Chelsea FC. I really thought I was going to nail this year's cake when I asked The Bakehouse Chicago to make a simple white cake with the Chelsea logo on top. I reached out to them 3.5 weeks before his birthday to place an order. I picked up his cake last night. What I was expecting was something with a little bit of craftsmanship. What I got was a cardboard cutout. There was no time to get a cake elsewhere so I took the cake. But we can't even put candles on it. I added a second star because they did give me a partial refund. But the discount doesn't fix the disappointment I felt when I removed the cardboard piece to sing happy birthday with a completely blank cake.

Really love everything about this place and would come back to sit outside in their patio or do some work inside the shop! They are all friendly with fast service. I ordered a ham and cheese breakfast croissant and a blueberry muffin. The baked goods were fresh and super delicious! They offer various pastries and including cakes. This spot is a must try!

This place is super cute!! I just moved to the area from New Orleans and appreciated that they had a king cake displayed :) Service was great, coffee was delicious and presentation was cute as well. Loved the bagel and was surprised by the salad! Definitely excited to come back soon.

The shop is sparsely decorated but seems to be a real staple in the community, which felt special to visit as an outsider. My friend and I both ordered egg and goat cheese bagel sandwiches. I ordered an iced lavender matcha and my friend ordered a cappuccino. The sandwiches were made with boiled eggs, which felt extremely odd. The egg type was not clarified on the menu, but I feel like for a breakfast sandwich to include a boiled egg instead of a traditional fried or scrambled egg, that should be disclosed to customers with some sort of expectations. My friend said the cappuccino was "just like every other cappuccino I've ever had." The lavender matcha really just tasted like a regular matcha. It was good but not much lavender flavor! Our food also took a bit to come out, despite the coffee shop being empty (only one other person already dining when we came in) and what we ordered. It looked like there were only two workers. I personally wouldn't visit Sipping Turtle Cafe again, unfortunately. There are a lot of other great options around that satisfy me more.

Even though we were out of town, we were immediately invited to a small event they were having the next day and asked about our days in a manner that reflected genuine interest. We ordered an empanada, a churro donut, almojabana, and the pan de bono. I'm vegetarian so I was very happy to see such a wide number of options for me! The churro donut was delicious and cinnamony - if you like sweet breakfasts, definitely get this! I really enjoyed the almojabana and the pan de bono. I liked the pan de bono so much, I even took a picture of the crumb to share with my mother, who is Colombian! There's currently no reliable way to place a to-go order ahead of time: their phone number isn't listed, the website advertises online ordering but it never seems to work, and the delivery apps are hit or miss at best. I'd honestly order from here a lot more often if I could easily place an order while out walking my dogs and pick it up later. You can also order a toasted english muffin that comes with fresh butter and a homemade jam.. it's so simple but addicting. I have had their Lox English Muffin a couple of times, and if you love Lox, it's GREAT. Really good balance of cream cheese/veggie/lox ratio.. though Lox is always so overpowering so it's most of what you're going to taste. If you are a quiche person, PLEASE try theirs. The creativity in their rotating flavors, and their perfect crust, are a must-try. It's soooo well done. Every pastry I've tried has been spectacular, from their almond blackberry croissant to the pistachio escargot, to their donuts.. I don't think you can go wrong. Their cinnamon roll is next on my list.. but I need to try it when I'm with 2-3 other people because it is GINORMOUS. I don't trust that I wouldn't eat the whole thing by myself. Their coffee is good, but there's nothing special to me about it! I come here for their fresh pastries and eats. They have free wifi and it's fairly quiet, so a good place to knock out some work or have a good conversation with a friend. It's neat, clean, and bright with a good amount of seating. This place is right next to my therapy office, so I frequent it a couple of times a month, and I have always felt welcomed and cared for by their employees. If you are eating there, they will go the extra mile to bring your food to your table and make sure you have everything you need. Highly recommend!!
