I love this local cafe! They offer variety of pastries- croissants, brioche, buns, cookies, cakes, etc. We love coming here for breakfast; Sunrise Sandi on sourdough is my favorite. We've ordered lemon meringue cupcakes and they were delicious! Seasonal fruits and berries in pastries are such a treat. They also have sourdough bread- Meyer lemon is my favorite! It's a small place, not much sitting area, but we love coming to support local business. read more

I have traveled all over the U.S. and Europe. At least for the U.S., they easily hands down have the best croissants. The flakiness of all of their savory and sweet croissants is phenomenal and the added ingredients such as the chocolate they use for the chocolate croissant is just delicious. This is a must-stop for me when I head through Auburn. The Potato Bomb is basically potato gratin on a delicious, chewy, bacon-filled pastry. I invariably also pick up a savory pastry to go with the bomb, and have never been disappointed. Definitely some of my favorite pastries in Northern California. My only complaint is that they're not located closer to Sacramento (they do however deliver their breads to some of my favorite restaurants in Sac). :) read more

So happy to have an artisan bakery in Auburn and in the old Hilda's space to boot! So if you've already been noshing on their baked goods from the farmer's markets you know how delicious they are. This morning we ordered the almond croissant, the potato bomb, and two cappuccinos. The croissant was the best I've ever tasted! Flaky and crunchy with the perfect balance of salt to sweet. The potato bomb was a slab of au gratin potatoes with bacon and caramelized onion all wrapped up and baked into a bread roll and topped with cheese..... seriously good. Our cappuccinos were on point and we sat outside and enjoyed our morning. The Baker and the Cakemaker are powering out great eats! I'll be back to try a sandwich sooner than later. read more

This is the best bakery around! If you're looking for bread with a crunch that's full of flavor you've come to the right place. We were so excited when we learned they were putting in a storefront for our favorite breads. You've got to try their Meyer lemon loaf as well as the kalamatta olive one. In addition to wonderful bread, their new cafe boasts an unbelievable assortment of pastries and sandwiches all made with fresh ingredients with wonderful flavor palettes. Not to mention their hot chocolate, with homemade marshmallows, was the best one I've had in North America. Wonderful hidden gem. Discovered them at the Roseville farmers market near the Galleria. The bakers cookies are the bomb! If I can't make it to the farmers market, I go out of my way to Auburn just to get their cookies. While at the bakery sample the rest of their goodies because they are delicious. read more

A new FAVORITE find for me as I work between SF and Tahoe. Don't tell my mother, this was by far the best pumpkin muffin I've ever had in my life. The breakfast sandwich was also incredibly tasty. I tried out the new citrus and beet panzanella salad today. Ordered it to go and it was ready within 25 minutes. This salad is delicious! The combination of local citrus, local beets, winter radish, baked garbanzo beans, feta cheese, greens, and bread with dressing was amazing. I will definitely order this again! read more

It's one of the only places in California I've been able to get croissants that are just as good (if not better) than the ones I had while living in Europe! They are incredible! Went here for the first time to get myself a birthday cake...you know...if you want it right, do it yourself! When I went to pick up my cake it turned out that I must have given the wrong pickup date, but instead of having to go home without my cake for our celebration, they made it work in 30 minutes!! The cinnamon roll had a weird spongy texture and was underwhelming. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop again.

The first 7 months of eating at The Baker and The Cakemaker was nothing short of excellent. The last two months have not warranted a drive across town. The sandwiches were very light on the makings and nothing on the side for garnish. I ordered 3 sandwhiches and opened all 3 boxes that cost $10+ and saw a very limited sandwhich that only took up half the box. The spread and specialty jelly was almost not there. I love the menu but hope the next few months they get their jive back on for which customers were driving from other towns to eat. read more

I tried out this bakery today with a friend. I will be going back regularly! We got two pastries, the cinnamon roll and the plum almond croissant. They were both amazing. We also split a breakfast sandwich called the sunrise sandi. It was absolutely delicious! The staff is so sweet and accommodating. We both felt safe going into order because the staff had a great social distancing system set up. Everyone was wearing masks, the pastries were behind plexiglass, and hand sanitizer was readily available for costumers. I also watched the staff members use some between helping customers. Like I said, I will definitely go back to this yummy bakery! read more

You can tell that they use the freshest ingredients. Super tasty food. The avocado toast with bacon is yummy and has pickled carrots on it that gives it a nice twist. There baked goods use in season fruit and great as well. Just ordered my birthday cake from them. read more

So disappointed. We called to order cupcakes or a cake for our daughter's birthday this week and they stated that they do not do anything or their than what's on their Mothers Day menu this week. So be warned, if you have a birthday the week of Mother's Day I guess you can't order a cake from here. My daughter was so disappointed as she loves the sweets here. So sad that wouldn't even make an exception considering we can't even have a party for her because of the shelter in place. They lost a repeated customer today. read more

I ordered the Roasted Turkey sandwich, no bacon (because I sadly don't eat pork or beef), add pepper jelly on sliced sour dough. It was incredible! The pickled red onions, pepper jelly and in house fresh baked bread really made it! I also had the "Kitchen" cookie, and my life will never be the same. We will be back!
