First time. Stopped in for coffee. Paula pointed out a sign for biscuits and gravy. I wasn't really up for it but the cheddar bacon and jalapeño biscuit over the top. Biscuit was phenomenal the gravy has potential but missed the mark. Large clumps of flour was very disappointing. Flavor was good could use more sausage. The breakfast and lunch menu looks promising so we'll give it another go cause it's local. The baked goods do look incredible. read more

Cute place, great service, good food! I ordered the breakfast sandwich. My hubby wanted biscuits and gravy but we would have had to wait because all the ingredients weren't ready, so he got a bacon & cheese bagel bomb. I wished I had asked for mayo or some sort of sauce on my sando, he wished there was a lot more cheese inside his bagel bomb. It was a very busy Labor Day morning, we didn't feel like asking for condiments after we started eating. The pumpkin latte was FANTASTIC, with house-made pumpkin flavoring, we could taste real pumpkin. The classic brownie was dark and rich, the cowboy cookie was packed with oats, coconut, chocolate chips and pecans - dense and moist, delicious. I don't know if the woman running the place was manager or owner, but she was super friendly, helpful and very organized. We will come back! read more

What a sweet place! Colfax is a quaint historic gold rush town nestled in the Sierra Nevadas. The Wrecking Crew Bakery is the perfect place to stop for a delicious cup of coffee and a yummy treat! We ordered a coffee and an oat milk decaf latte and they were both delicious. My husband ordered a ham and bacon croissant and I ordered the dark chocolate raspberry scone. Both were made to perfection! The historic building is super cool too! Brick walls, tall ceilings, and such. They have board games and toddler toys, books and sidewalk chalk for customers' delight. I ordered 18 cupcakes from The Wrecking Crew Bakery and they were so good. Britany the baker made vanilla, chocolate, carrot cake and red velvet. The cream cheese frosting and buttercream were delicious. The pricing is very fair and she had the order ready for pick-up at the designated time. Update: I've come here a few times and usually have a great experience--everyone is kind, and my go-to favorites are the Danish and the smoothie! The Danish is always buttery and flaky, and I really enjoyed the bagel bomb as well. However, on April 17th, I ordered the biscuits and gravy and was pretty disappointed. The biscuits were mushy and fell apart easily, and for the price, it didn't feel like a great value. I'm not sure if it was an off day, but I did notice that only the younger staff seemed to be working that morning, so perhaps things just needed a bit more supervision in the kitchen. That said, I know the main lady here is genuinely skilled at baking her items usually turn out great. Overall there's clearly care put into the menu. Also, I'm sorry to hear about people being encouraged to leave false reviews that's unfortunate. I just want to be clear that I write a lot of reviews and try to be as honest and fair as possible, based only on my own experience. I do hope to see more consistency in the future, because I've really enjoyed many of the things I've had here and want to keep coming back. read more

The food was just awful. The plate did have three huge grapes on it that were the best thing in this restaurant. The grapes were so sweet and crisp. If the food had been decent, I would go back just for the grapes. If you're ever in the Colfax area, drive right by this place. You'll be glad you did! read more

Found this gem on the main drag in this small town. In fact it was basically the only place open in this stretch of buildings on a Friday morning. Wow what a selection they had in here everything looked so good! We got some coffee and a few scones and a bunch of stuffed bagels! Wow they are wonderful we took them home and enjoyed them for the next few days. They are definitely a full meal and stuffed to the max. The ladies were so nice and welcoming. I loved all the recipe cards that were framed on the wall, which I was told were their grandmas and great grandmas recipes. If you're in town or even just driving past this place is worth the stop! Through the small hallway on the right takes you back to another place as well if you're looking for a smoothie or sandwich. What a great find in old Colfax. read more

This bakery was featured that morning on a local channel. Didn't have anything lined up that Saturday morning so hubby and I decided to do the drive. So happy we did. Love, love, love that it's a family-run business. And I do mean family. There were two toddlers very visibly present and absolutely charmed me and Hubby. I had a really good spinach/cheese croissant which I brought home as I had half of Hubby's bacon/egg bagel. I got to meet the very young-looking grandma who does all the baking of the enticing cookies, bread and pastries. I wish only the best for this bakery! Really enjoy going to the Wrecking Crew Bakery & Cafe. The atmosphere of their new location is lovely. Kind of a mix between traditional, modern, historic and casual. Lots of comfortable seating with a beautiful bar showing off all their delectable treats. The employees are helpful and friendly. Their bakery has many great goodies to choose from. We were looking for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and noticed a new ( to us) bakery. Parking is convenient, either in front or in the parking lot across the street. Upon walking in it was unclear if this was a sit down place or counter order. After a few moments of confusion we saw the order taking area. We remember the place as a bar/ saloon so that ambience remains. We had a Turkey sandwich. It was big enough to split and the bread was excellent. The whole sandwich was good also! Delivery to the table was pretty quick. Overall a good lunch place and we will return. read more

The bakery here has delicious scones that pack flavors I tried the triple berry scone loved the rich flavors of berries and it wasn't hard or dry but soft and chewy the way I love them. Also I been having the salads turkey and bacon with blue cheese dressing I order them often nines of mixed greens once again prices are very reasonable. Delectable baked delights! My husband and I popped in here spontaneously on Labor Day. This bakery is a family-run gem. We bought a chocolate chip cookie and a raspberry chocolate chip scone-wow! The scones are the size of your hand. The selection of cookies and pastries was phenomenal. There was even a vegan option or two. You will find a tasty treat. Thankful that we only live 30 minutes away and can pop over to try more items. FYI. It's in a beautiful historic building, so there is either no ac or it didn't work on Labor Day. Either way, I can't say enough that if you're heading to/from Tahoe, you must check this place out. Once we hit cool fall weather this is going to be my go-to bakery :) read more

Best Veggie Sandwich I had in a while!!! They a delicious cream cheese and veggie sandwich that was crisp and delicious on an everything bagel. It was an excellent way to start my journey home but also made it hard to leave. I got greeted when I entered and the service was so personalized. A regular customer was behind me in line and the lady new him by name and order. The cafe was very cute and inviting. I was so excited to see the signs for The Wrecking Crew and even more excited when my schedule aligned, so I could go when they were open. Big thanks to the previous reviewer who suggested bagel bites! This cute, small coffee shop and bakery along the train tracks in downtown Colfax is worth the drive even if you aren't local to this town. I bought a box of 2 of most types of the bagel bites plus some sweet scones (peach and lemon/blueberry--yum!) in order to have breakfast covered over Thanksgiving morning, too. I just ate the most amazing, stuffed, flavorful jalapeño (oh, the burn!) cream cheese bacon bagel bite. My first bite was doughy, but then the cavern of ingredients opened up. I was surprised at how stuffed it was. Most bakeries will give you a small smattering with the essence of flavor. This was mouth watering and tear inducing. The wrecking Crew bakery and Cafe lived up to its name....... They wrecked our lunch! My boyfriend just said the other day that a grilled cheese sandwich is probably a good choice at any restaurant because how can you wreck that? Well they did. It was so bland and tasteless with cheddar cheese that was stringy. My turkey bacon avocado sandwich had a lot of turkey on it and 2 mm slices of avocado. It was served on a plate with one packet of mayonnaise and one packet of mustard along with three huge grapes. The sourdough bread crumbled every time I picked up my sandwich. The beverage selection was very poor. There was regular orange Fanta, regular Cherry Pepsi and regular Sprite. That was it. They did have tea drinks that were pretty lackluster. Tasted more like lightly flavored water. When we go to a sit-down restaurant we expect that they will put the mayonnaise on the bread. This isn't a Denny's nor a road stop stand. How this place has 4.8 Stars I'll never know. Unlike other reviews we had decent service and everyone was somewhat friendly. Originally we had entertained the thought of getting a baked good but based on our lunch we passed that up. When we walked in, it was not at all busy. A couple people came in but it's easy to see now why it wasn't very busy. read more

The role tasted day old and huge, there was plenty of meat, but nothing special about it.
