Beautiful coffee & breakfast spot in historic Colfax. Full menu of coffees and smoothies, sweets and pastries, and Bagel Bombs (a local invention). Very comfortable seating and couch. Owned by a very nice family. I stood in every time I drive through Colfax.

Here are the pictures I took last week and forgot to post... Such a nice quiet environment to relax, read, and enjoy the delicious food, pastries, coffee and teas. The staff and owner are really wonderful. God bless you all.

Really enjoy going to the Wrecking Crew Bakery & Cafe. The atmosphere of their new location is lovely. Kind of a mix between traditional, modern, historic and casual. Lots of comfortable seating with a beautiful bar showing off all their delectable treats. The employees are helpful and friendly. Their bakery has many great goodies to choose from. My favorites are their cookies and scones. We visited this week and the Christmas decorations are warm and festive. Wonderful small town cafe!

Found this gem on the main drag in this small town. In fact it was basically the only place open in this stretch of buildings on a Friday morning. Wow what a selection they had in here everything looked so good! We got some coffee and a few scones and a bunch of stuffed bagels! Wow they are wonderful we took them home and enjoyed them for the next few days. They are definitely a full meal and stuffed to the max. The ladies were so nice and welcoming. I loved all the recipe cards that were framed on the wall, which I was told were their grandmas and great grandmas recipes. If you're in town or even just driving past this place is worth the stop! Through the small hallway on the right takes you back to another place as well if you're looking for a smoothie or sandwich. What a great find in old Colfax.

A wonderful family business that provides great baked goods. Their bagel bombs are amazing, scones are delicious and have never been disappointed in anything purchased. They also take orders for cakes and pies, which I have utilised for special occasions. They also have lunch items and my favorite is their BLT, loaded with bacon! Their new location provides a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere to sit, relax and enjoy.

But stuff isn't viral online for no reason.. the Dutch apple pie was incredible. Perfect even. Not too sweet apples perfectly tart. And when I went by at 12 or so today the pie was hot out of the oven. Incredible. And delicious. I also got a Peruvian marinated whole chicken, marinated hangar steak and lemon pepper marinated chicken thighs. Meats are vacuumed packed and are easy dinner options. We were in the area of Auburn coming back from a Father's Day weekend trip, and I was looking for a few easy meals to have in the fridge for the rest of the week. It was busy! But plenty of staff on hand to help move everything along. I suggest having one person wait in the car and sending one person in to stealthy acquire the goods. Also they offered me a bag of ice to keep my meats fresh for the ride. Fabulous touch. Don't be scared of the crowds and new found popularity. Go in and grab a pie and more! Loved coming here and can't wait to be in the area again to try out other things.

I've had this spot on my list of places to get around to visiting for a while now, but their recent…read moredesignation as the #1 Best Pie Shop in the United States by the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards for 2026 was finally the nudge to get us there. I love pie & was on a mission to try theirs. We stopped by on the Friday afternoon after they got recognized. The parking lot was packed. There is a lot of covered outdoor seating, but it was also pretty filled up. The market was busy & bustling with customers & staff going to & fro. A hamburger restaurant adjoins the market with some indoor seating. You can enter & exit either door to get to both areas. The doors directly to the market only had one you could open because the other door was obscured with a display & it caused such a traffic jam to get in & out. The supply of pies/cobblers & variety was plentiful. They have fruit pies as well as cream pies in whole, sliced, fresh, & frozen form. NOTE--you can find whole pies (fresh or frozen) in the market, & packaged individual slices in the restaurant. The market also has lots of produce, dips & sauces, dressings, pickled items, wine, other baked goods, honey, snacks, store branded merchandise, & lots more! Samples of products were out & available to try, like fruit, dips, & granola. The circumstances of the award created an understandable commotion that took a little charm away from the shopping experience. The market has so many neat items to browse, but it has narrow aisles & it was hard to look around comfortably & not feel in the way because of the flurry of activity. I even heard audible disdain from another customer (my sense is a local or regular) about everyone being there because of the award. Customer service was fine. Staffers seemed busy & didn't welcome or proactively acknowledge customers. We were able to find someone who was helpful with a question we had. Checkout was straightforward with staff trying to keep the line moving. Back to the pie mission! Peach Pie--delightful fresh peach taste, the least sweet of the 3 Razzleberry Pie--really delicious berry packed flavor payoff Strawberry Rhubarb Cobbler--this is my favorite kind of fruit pie & their very tasty execution stood out because the rhubarb was really present in big tart chunks, (also the fruit & veg combo practically makes this a health food, right??) My verdict-- My ideal pie is a combo of yummy filling & a great flaky, buttery crust. While the fillings were bursting with amazing fruitiness, the crust brought nothing to the table & was just bland & meh. I prefer the cobbler version because the dough brought some sweetness & flavor. We also got a loaf of coffee cake. It tasted fine, but felt like it was basically a simply flavored cake with some streusel topping that had bits of walnut & barely any detectable cinnamon. I would go back again down the road on an obscure weekday to try to experience a less busy time to shop more items. The pie fillings I tried were spectacular, & despite the mediocre crust, I would happily have more.

As an avid baker/cook, I was wary of some of the products after reading some reviews on Yelp. After waiting in line for an hour, reviewing the online menu, then ordering a selection of goodies, I am here to tell you that this place is worth it. Granted I had to stand in line for an hour and there is no seating, but people in line were civil and friendly. No meltdowns. Nobody going "postal". If you want coffee, there is an excellent coffee shop a couple doors down. Many people in line were drinking coffee while waiting. Because I returned home right after purchasing my box of baked goods, I was able to re-heat the pastries, which I highly recommend, and enjoy them on the patio. Here's what I had: ham harissa red onion Parmesan croissant - reminded me of chorizo pistachio baklava morning bun - complex flavors of fruit and spice kale potato tomato onion cheddar cheese quiche - best quiche ever raspberry peach almond pie bar (gf and vegan) - very fruity chocolate chunk cookie - lots of chocolate passion fruit Basque cheesecake - creamy with a passion fruit topping Due to elevation, the croissant wasn't like other croissants I've had with their many layers, but I enjoyed the ham harissa nonetheless which reminded me of Mexican chorizo. Because there is a 70¢ charge per large box, the locals brought their own Tupperware to haul their treasures back home and maybe to reduce landfill. In addition to freeze-dried strawberry granola, dog treats are also sold here. Strategy for next time: Show up before 8am opening or closer to closing time 2pm (you risk product shortage) to avoid long wait times. Bring my own Tupperware to avoid extra charges. Apparently, July 4th weekend is the busiest day of the year...just my luck.
