On 9/26/2025 I selected a cake design I was looking for off their website, so I called to place the order (I did say I have a topper for the cake which I was reminded of that when I picked the cake up on 10/8/2025 & that's fine). Cake, I ordered was to feed 20+ ppl and it was what I thought for a 2-tier cake. Girl who took my order was very vague and didn't ask many questions, as I think being a bakery should have. Needless to say, no one from the bakery contacted to follow-up of my order prior to my pick-up date. I called on Monday 10/6/2025 as the date needing this cake was two days away and to find out on their website the bakery is closed on Monday's and there are no recordings on their phone regarding this. After calling the bakery I sent a text message to the phone number given to me at the time of placing my order, no response until 10:09 am on Tuesday asking the name on the order and I reply immediately with no reply to my text from the bakery. I call the bakery at 11:37 am since they hadn't responded to my text and was told at first, they didn't see my order, then order sheet was found. I was told that the cake would be ready for pickup between 10:30-11:00 am on Wednesday. I didn't receive a text or phone call saying my order wouldn't be ready until later in the afternoon. I called again on Wednesday at 2:00 pm to find out if my cake was ready to be told it's being finished up now, so I requested a picture to be text to me and was told sure. At 3:28 pm I left work to pick up the cake and called on my way to find out if it was ready or not and it was. I told the baker I requested a picture of the cake to be text to me and I was told I didn't receive that message, so I asked her directly and she sent the picture of the cake. For $110 cake it wasn't anything I was expecting, I was very disappointed in the presentation of the look of it. She tried to say a contract was emailed to you and it wasn't, as I check my emails several times daily. I expressed my disapproval of the cake; it was very sad looking and the writing I requested to be added looked like a very young elementary kid wrote the wording for them. I had the writing remove, because it looked awful! Then we cut the cake to find the cake was dry, no moisture at all. A friend who loves cakes and is a baker herself told me later as she was debating on telling me the truth or not, the cake either was baked or left in the open air too long and icing wasn't good. Again, very disappointing that cake wasn't up to expectation. I will give credit to the baker as she did give me credit back to my credit card, due to their lack of attention to details. If I were in the bakery industry and a customer ordered a cake for a special event and it wasn't turning out pretty or exceptional I would send a picture of the cake to make suggestions or options to make it more appealing. Nothing like this occurred!!! I've attached pictures of the cake I wanted something similar to vs what I was given.

I almost walked out, but decided to give them a chance. I ordered a vanilla cupcake to try before I invested in a dozen. I asked them if the cupcakes were fresh and the girl said that they were from that week. Most bakeries make them fresh daily or every other day. I tried eating my cupcake there, but I couldn't stand the smell. I left with just the one cupcake.

Failing to get this right is like trying to tie your shoe with both hands tied behind your back. In the dark. Darkness fell. Our lane had 2 cars in front of us. No problem correct? Problem. We waited. And as we waited for the 2 vehicles in front of us to get their food. No less than 5...yes...5 cars that came in the lane adjacent to us had come in AFTER us...gotten their food...and left BEFORE we even got to the window to pay. I was now weary. 1 vehicle was handed 4 bags of food. I get it. You ordered for a crew. Have them pull out of the lane and spot them while continuing to carry on with additional orders. Not sure if this is policy, or inexperience in industry methods. Anyway... Fortunately, Abraham greeted us at the window. A delightful young man. He greeted both me and my wife with a huge smile courtesy and even called my wife "ma'am". His parents dun good. Spotting the doggy cookies in a jar, I inquired if I may take one home for my monster king shepherd. He didn't blink an eye and grabbed one for the pup and even took time to ask questions about her. Great young man and great service, Abraham. Get a raise already. The food. Well...this is the interesting part...I don't have much to write. My wife and I actually discussed it...and for the first time...we were blank. It was just...an hamburger...from a fast food restaurant. Obviously not a "fresh cooked patty" as the experience cook can spot the dry marks of a cracked piece of ground that has been sitting there...I got plenty of pickles...about ¼ teaspoon of this "special sauce" and literally counted...4 yes...4 little squares of diced onion. I literally made my wife count them to confirm 4 little squares. No problem. With my knife skills I chopped up some at home to add on after the initial taste. Generic Sysco bun. That's literally it. It was just an fast food cheeseburger. Beats the snot out of Micky Dee's and Burger Kang, but falls short of Wendy's. My wife noted if she were caught short and just needed something for the kids...she would stop here after grocery shopping. But not a making a special trip saying "Damn...I'm CRAVING P Terry's". It was just an fast food burger. Couldn't taste the "special sauce" (mayo, ketchup, pickle juice/vinegar, salt) at all. Fries. Don't bother. They are flaccid par-cooked potato sticks with no browning or salt. 80% went in the bin. Sadly...this DID fall WAY short of Micky Dee's. Back to back taste test of the "Pterry's ketchup"...90% sure it is repackaged Heinz. Which is not a bad thing as Heinz is the superior ketchup to all ketchup. We both agreed Wendy's has a better burger and DEFINITELY better fries. But for $11 it is priced well. Just hope this location does not fold. The building is made out of solid concrete, thus the year long build and uglier than sin. Also if you have a big truck. Take the outside line or you will be hopping the curb. Someone didn't measure. Welp. I take back paragraph 6 in hindsight. I did have a lot to say...without really saying anything. This review is like that person you talk to next to the hotel bar on a business trip. You can do it for hours...and not remember a damn thing they said. Wait...did I just simile and metaphor at the same time? TLDR time kids!!! Location? It is close. It is an eye sore. And it is built like a concrete s**thouse. Meh. Staff? Amazing. Abraham, Looking at you my friend. Well done young man. Food? Utterly forgettable. At least it was reasonably priced to ingest calories when I do not feel like cooking...THERE!!! I found what I was trying to say!!! --- That only took 755ish words...Come on post Gen X-er's...learn to write. What...I don't remember a damn thing we just talked about. See what I mean? Rock solid 2 stars.

But the cupcakes that i did try are moist and fluffy at the same time. Their icing was not too sweet, which I can appreciate. Will definitely need to go back and try other flavor cupcakes. Inside their establishment is just as cute as the window display..wish I took a pic, but they have a cute swing in the corner and they sell other baking items and Knick knacks like bath bombs and etc.

Very Disappointed - Do Not Recommend for Special Events…read more I ordered a quinceañera cake from M.E.B. Cakes through Houston's Ballroom for an April 2025 event. We had a detailed design consultation, provided a specific color sample, and paid extra for custom floral decorations the bakery agreed to provide. On the event day, the cake was completely wrong--the color was a deep green that clashed with the event theme and dress, and it arrived undecorated. The bakery claimed they couldn't find the right flowers and added mismatched artificial ones at the last minute per my request. When I asked for compensation, the owner offered only another cake for a future event--not a refund. I even consulted another bakery who confirmed the extreme color difference wasn't a reasonable "weather issue" excuse. Neither M.E.B. Cakes nor Houston's Ballroom took responsibility for the disappointment. Be cautious if you're considering either vendor for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Note: M.E.B Cakes might offer their justifications. Simply read through other evaluations and let me know if this isn't a pattern of poor service.
