This is a very casual bar with "typical" bar food. Being vegetarian, I didn't think I would be able to eat anything there -- they had the Beyond burger patty on their menu but they didn't actually have it available so I resigned myself to ordering a salad which is usually not my number one choice because I don't find them filling unless they include grains, nuts, etc. Anywho, I ordered their chopped salad sans bacon and ham and I wasn't really expecting much but it turned out to be pretty darn good. The dressing was tasty and the salt itself seemed fresh, it packed quite a crunch! I was pleasantly surprised. As far as the atmosphere -- it's super chill and it's a good place to hang out. We come to watch the game and there's always a pool tournament and nowhere to sit. Otherwise, the food and service is usually good.

Decent service and drinks, like a typical bar. A little rough around the edges inside but the food was great. Would highly recommend any of the grilled cheese sandwiches and 100% recommend them sassy cow cheese curds. read more

Four of us went here on a Saturday night after a movie. We were seated at a table next to a table of 14 that were really having a good time. A spot a little farther away would have been welcome. From what we could see there was only one waitress covering the entire dining room. She was very pleasant but perhaps not the most organized. After receiving our four diet sodas, our friends ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer and we all ordered burgers. It was a LONG wait for our food. Not sure why because the large party next to us already had their food and the dining room was not busy. When our waitress asked if we wanted refills on our drinks, she started to take them one at a time. We suggested she take two. Our burgers arrived finally...followed by the fried pickles. It was never explained why our appetizer came out after our dinner. The Ball Banger Burger that I had was delicious. It came with home made chips that were crispy and fresh. If you get a chance to go to the Ball Room I highly recommend it. It's a very family friendly atmosphere which is a bonus for me as I frequently like to bring my son there for dinner. The cook they have is fantastic and makes some of the best deep fried cheese curds I've ever tasted. I highly recommend the portabella mushroom sandwich and the Kiss Shot Chicken. If you are feeling adventurous, ask the bar tender to make you a Portage Sunrise (they can make them without alcohol too). Overall I would highly recommend the place. read more

A cool place to have a drink or two and shoot some pool. I've yet to try their food, but as a hang-out it's worth checking out if you've got some time to kill in Portage. I imagine it'd be a nice way to wind down after a night of skiing at Cascade. For me, it was a chance to hook up with some old friends from my days as a Portage townie. It was a little bit of a pick-me-up in tough times, if I'm completely honest. The tables are all functional, which is about the least you can ask. They do ball rental by the hour, but all the tables (I believe) are equipped to take coins/bills if you just want to shoot a game or two. Amazing! Delicious food, great staff. Our family loves going to the ballroom for Friday fish fry. The pretzel encrusted perch is awesome! My husband says the burgers are the best in town. They have delicious chicken strips. The wraps are yummy. Their hand cut fries and homemade chips are to die for. Amazing food and amazingly helpful and happy staff. Great place to get a bite or to play some pool. Honestly one of the most affordable pool games you can find renting a table for a hour is 5$ or when you rent able tourists can play 1$ for every game, there's also pool tables that Will take quarters if you prefer. read more

This place does not have any personal service. They flaunt themselves as a premiere billiard destination, but things are disorganized, and the personal service only seems to apply to regular customers. I would bypass portage altogether if you are looking to shoot pool or enjoy yourself. read more

We ordered the southwestern chicken sandwich (Good but flattened out to fit the bun) a ball banger burger (very greasy) tots (crisp and big order) and onion rings (don't waste your $ very little onion and very small amount) Bar tender was very nice. Nice lace to play pool and grab a few drinks . We previously had the cheese curds (fabulous)& the chicken tenders (fabulous also) It's an ok place for food, nothing over the edge. read more

It was their one year anniversary, and it was heavily advertised, locally. We decided to go, our first time visiting as a family. We arrived around 5:30, our order was not taken until 6:15. I waited that long to get my first drink. There were 25 people waiting to be seated with several open tables, but no one seated them. Several people left. Our food arrived at 6:49, a full hour and 15 minutes after we arrived. My salad made me sick, my husband's burger was overdone, but my daughter's pizza and chips were okay. Overall this was a very poor experience. It was my husband's first time and he will not be back again. I have been there when things were better, but I don't know if I want to chance it again. When a restaurant advertises a major event, it is important to have the staff and kitchen ready for the guests. This is a problem at the management level and should be addressed before any other major events. read more
