    Side of queso

Brunch Perfection! I finally know why this diner-type restaurant is so popular and highly rated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the minute we walked in, it was clear that these folks have perfected the restaurant experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff were all so friendly and so proud of what they are accomplishing for us. 100% sanitation. From what I can tell, everything is made in house. Even the steak sauce that came with my Steak & Eggs Shack, the side of queso I got to go with it and the hot sauce on the table. Hot tea is served with maple syrup if you want to sweeten it. Coffee is kept refilled. Food is outstanding. The biscuits are huge and surprisingly light at the same time and come with whatever daily spreads they have made for them. They are known for their grits. For good reason. Sis loved her Chicken and Waffles too. Portions huge. Inexpensive. What's not to love???

Breakfast was amazing Service was outstanding [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was very busy this morning, gets a little loud with everyone in there talking and having a good time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Absolutely love! Expect a wait but totally worth it. They make home made jam and big ass biscuits. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They now have a back room for coffee and alcoholic breakfast drinks for your wait.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The grits should be world renowned. They need nothing. No cheese or butter. They are perfect the way they are. Everything on the menu is wonderful, the hardest thing will be picking your meal.

Spur of the moment decision to come here and I'm glad we did! Amazing food and service. Everything is homemade - jam, biscuits, queso, you name it! Service was quick once you got a seat, they have a cute mimosa and coffee bar around the corner while you wait for a table. Very well run! I got the special, Baja Bowl with grits and biscuits. My husband got the Banks Omelet. 5/5!

You can't go wrong with shrimp and bacon in an omelette! And the pimento cheese really just sets it off! The biscuits here are some of the best I've ever had, and the homemade island jam ) pineapple mango and orange) is so good!

fast service even with the place packed out workers where friendly low price for the amount of food and taste.

Overall a good place to eat breakfast. Local establishment with a decent breakfast menu. It is a typical breakfast spot. I would eat here again but didn't have or see anything in the menu that would make me go out of my way to come back. The service was pleasant and friendly.

I wish I could give the Banks Grill 10 stars for two reasons. 1. The waitstaff. They get first place because they're the heart and soul. Not only was our waitress attentive and friendly, we watched them all interact with the clientele. Everyone was so warm and personable, truly above, beyond, and genuine. 2. Our food was incredible. I put my diet aside and went for the Land and Sea Benedict. It was a seasonal special. No regrets. It was ridiculous and I mean that in the best way possible. (See picture). My hubby had the pancakes and they were also really good. I was so obsessed with mine, I forgot to take a picture. Also, the tropical mimosa was great. Highly recommend. There will likely be a wait but the time was just as predicted. Just do it.. you won't be disappointed.

Yo, the internet homies steered me wrong! Shame on y'all!…read more I got the shrimp burger with smoked gouda mac and cheese. The shrimp were criminally overcooked, and the mac needed salt in the worst way. They didn't salt the pasta water (or salt it enough), and the mac was really sad, as a result. My friend got the soup of the day combo, which were were told was a "white bean and basil soup", but I'll be danged if it didn't come out with the most garbanzo-y looking white beans I've ever seen in my life. She said it tasted like they dumped rotel, chickpeas, and pesto into a pot and called it soup, and not in a good way. My wife got the smoked wings. She said the flavor was good, but they were brought out lukewarm and very lightly sauced (she's an extra saucy kind of lady). We got two cocktails, a cherry limeade slushie and a Kill Devil Hills Pain Killer. We were told the cherry limeade was made with just cherry mixer, lime, and vodka, but it definitely tasted like it had coconut in it, and my wife hates coconut. The Pain Killer I got was acceptable, but we ordered it with our food, and it didn't come out until I'd almost finished my dinner. The vibes in the place were meh, but fine (especially if the food/drinks were good), but the tables were extremely sticky across their entire surface, so either someone sucks at cleaning, or the finish on the tables was failing and needed to be sanded down/refinished. We did get a side of sweet potato fries that were pretty dope, but they didn't make up for the disappointment of everything else. 1 out of 5 stars; do not recommend.

The bartender was busy working and singing in between taking orders as she prepared drinks for customers. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and offered the specials before we placed our order. We love to sample the menu when we travel and the vast menu of tapas gave us the perfect opportunity to try just about everything. They had a smaller wine selection, but there was something for just about everyone. Our waiter was very attentive and offered suggestions on what to try if we were torn between several menu options. The Spanish lamb meatballs, truffle honey pork belly and rosemary beef were the tapas that stood out as the most flavorful and making us each want just one more bite. The Spanish meatballs were glazed with sriracha which caused me to pause before ordering. However, I'm so happy that we gave them a try. They had a bold flavor, but the whipped feta and cilantro were enough to balance the heat. The truffle honey pork belly was sliced differently. We have only had this cut into cubes at other restaurants in the past. The way that they slice the pork belly is so much better. The pork belly was served with cheese grits. We don't even like cheese grits, but could not get enough of these smoked Gouda grits. The rosemary beef with asparagus and mashed potatoes was perfect. The beef was tender, the asparagus cooked to perfection and who doesn't love mashed potatoes. We visit the crystal coast about twice a year and always try a couple of new places. We look forward to coming back to Circa 81 each time that we visit!

It came highly suggested by the host of the beach house, as well as all the great reviews we saw online. This not a quick sit, eat, and be on your way type of restaurant, it's a long standing, very popular spot, and even getting their early, we still had a about a 45 minute wait. But we were able to get drinks, and take them out to enjoy by the water while we waited for our table. Because of the heat, they even had a cooler by the front door with free bottled water for guests to enjoy while waiting. Once seated, the waitress was very attentive, checking on us regularly, keeping the drinks coming and getting out order entered, and out to us pretty quickly. Not being a big seafood eater, I decided to give their meatloaf a try. It was fantastic, as were the mash potatoes and green beans it was served with. For desert, we got smores, which they brought out a flames, along with graham crackers, Hershey bars, and marshmallows to make them at your table. Overall, a fun experience, tasty food, and great atmosphere. It's a bit on the pricey side, but I'd say that's expected for a quality restaurant in a beach town. It's not tourist trap pricey, but you get what you pay for, which in this case is good quality food, decent portions! I'd go back on another visit, and would recommend to others.

Place opened at 4:45 and we were there at 4:35 with a full parking lot and a line out the door. Luckily, we had a small party of two and a toddler and our wait was only 20 minutes. The night before we tried to get in, the wait was an hour and a half. Overall the place was great! Place was really Clean, smelled good, and was nice and cool. The outdoor waiting area was nice with a little dock in the water, covered/shaded seating, rocking chairs and even a bag set. Food was mostly on point too! Fried green maters could have been cooked a little longer (still a bit crunchy for my liking), breading on the pork chops didn't stick as well to the meat as it could, mashed potato's were FIRE, and the seafood trio with rice and beans was nice. Beer was super cold, staff were nice, and bathrooms were clean. If I were in the area again I would go again.
