I was in the cafe this morning and ordered a Spanish omelet. I had been anticipating this for several weeks; had oral surgery that had me on a liquid diet, then soft foods - no spicy; finally released for spicy! The omelet came without the salsa; I asked the waitress for it. Several minutes later, after she filled other patrons' coffee and took an order to another patron, a gentleman seated beside me commented that I was waiting on salsa; I aded that my omelet was getting cold. She brought the salsa then went back to the register area and commented to someone that I must not know that the salsa will make the omelet cold. However, there is a big difference in putting salsa on a HOT omelet versus a lukewarm one at that point. I made a comment that I knew it would cool the omelet but didn't want to put it on a cold omelet. She did offer to make another one, but after her rudeness, I wanted to eat and get out. Every time I've ordered a Spanish omelet with this waitress, I've had to ask for the salsa. As I was leaving, she loudly said, "Have a blessed day" in a not so friendly voice. I didn't respond or turn around. You can let her know that my day is blessed every day; I'm sorry she was evidently having a bad day. I frequented Ziggy's weekly in the spring. I live outside of Morehead and don't mind making a drive to Ziggy's for breakfast but my next Havelock trip for breakfast will be the Havelock Cafe. Ziggy's is now in my past. read more

Amazing service and very large portions. I usually come for breakfast and the kitchen always does over easy perfectly. Decent bottomless coffee and has browns plain or loaded with any combination of cheese, onions, peppers and jalapeños. Nice biscuits and sausage gravy as well. If you desire a home-cooked meal, Ziggy's is the cafe for you. I have not ordered one item ibdid not like. Delicious food. Their employees are so friendly!! If you become a frequent guest, they remember you and begin to know about you. Asking questions like: Did the wedding go well?, How are you making out after your surgery? Etc. Busy when we got here on a Sunday. Had to wait to be seated with 2 adults and a toddler. Waited outside 15 mins. After we got seated. We ordered. The place is clean inside tables are really close together so walkways are small. Theres a nice big clock on the back wall you can watch the time tick by as you wait. Took over 1 hour for 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, an omelet and potato's with toast. They didn't get my order right i never got my toast and i told a waitress but never got the toast. The hash browns were terrible. Just oil flavored with burnt. Blah. My eggs over easy were like boiled and no seasoning just super plain. Pancakes were plain not even butter on them. Its ok though theres butter and cheap jam on the table for your toast or pancakes if you ever get them... Im 95% sure they make each order separately and its deathly slow!! Our bill was 34$ for we ordered. I could of went somewhere else for something faster, and cheaper... Theres an Ihop in morehead it would of been faster.. Not worth the over an hr wait. A couple friends and I went here for lunch. The staff was nice but definitely needed some help. We didn't have to wait long at all, which is good. I ordered the Reuben and just was not impressed at all. The meat was overcooked and cooked more like Philly steak. The girls liked their food though! Down in the area for a family visit and came upon this gem. Small inside but they get you seated and served right away. We both had omelets and while I tire of omelets, I decided on the Spanish omelet. This is by far the best omelet I've ever had. Light, fluffy, very tasty with the green chilis adding a spicy touch. The hash browns were prepared perfectly. The staff is so friendly and keeps your coffee cup filled. We highly recommend Ziggy's. read more

Meh, it's small, not super clean, coffee is watered down and the hash browns are super greasy. But the sweet tea is good. It's busy though so jut because I'm not a fan doesn't mean you shouldn't try it. Oh-the omelettes are good too. read more

Someone recommended we try out this spot for breakfast, and we were pleased. The pancakes were some of the best we've had, and the home fries were nice and crispy. Kitchen seemed a little slow, and the home fries needed some salt, but otherwise, the food was good. It's what I would consider a mom and pop diner feel, and everyone in the place was happy. Not a 4 star experience if you're a person of color, if the trump signs aren't enough to steer you clear the rudeness or the waitstaff will, got there to only be given drinks, then proceeded to watch as 2 other people got seated, got there drinks and got there order taken. Unfortunately have to agree with David L., at least from the hostess today, the microaggressions were palpable as my mother and I inquired about getting a table. We asked to sit outside given I've just come in from out of state and, you know, the GLOBAL pandemic that has caused millions of people worldwide to die. She gave me a look and said "REALLY you want to sit outside?" while she wasn't herself wearing a mask so it didn't take much to connect the dots that she thinks wearing a mask is somehow a political thing and not a health thing...or even a selfless American thing to do. But anyway, after her rolling her eyes and raising her brows at us when I politely asked for a table for two outside, I told her we didn't want to eat there and we left. So, I'm unsure about the food, but the service from that one person is enough to diminish my curiosity. read more

The first time I went the food was basic but okay and since I wanted breakfast food it hit what I wanted but even then the service was slow and certainly not the friendliest. When I went back they were a bit over half full, easily over half of those already had food as well. I was sat after a moment and left for a while before finally getting to order, after half an hour it seemed like everyone else who was in before me was eating and only a couple new people had filtered in. After waiting for 45 minutes I was growing frustrated, my server had passed by me multiple times without a word or thought to me and I was staring into the kitchen waiting for my food. After 50 minutes of waiting I finally called out to the server and told her if it wasn't ready at this moment I had to leave. She took a minute to check and told me it wasn't quite ready yet, so I got up and left after waiting for 50 minutes for just an omelette and hash browns. read more

Such a great place! Great food, great service. They had regulars and visitors throughout the time we were there. Several Marines and families eating. Food was great. My daughter enjoyed the corned beef hash. My other daughter enjoyed the Texas French toast, my son had the Poor Boy sandwich and I had a standard breakfast of eggs, hash-browns sausage and toast. Best breakfast spot in town! Always good food, good service as well! Only complaints are the lack of room, it's a place I'd love to bring a group to, but there is no guarantee we'd get a seat so it's not a viable option for us. Also, the lack of an alcohol license causes me to skip brunch here sometimes, I like to have a mimosa on Sunday when I go to brunch with my friends. This issue affects all the breakfast places in Havelock though, you can either choose a lunch spot and have a drink, or choose brunch and go without. Neither of these complaints factored into my rating as they involve the space and a license that no one else has. read more
