For 11 years, I have tried everything to fix my patellofemoral pain syndrome, which is an imbalance of quadricep muscles that causes the knees to be pulled off balance, leading to swelling, pain, and, in my case, meniscus tears. I was a college athlete, so you could say I'm fairly seasoned when it comes to fitness. WoW! First time in a yoga studio for a drop in class. It was AWESOME! The girls are SO accommodating!! The class was appropriate for me & plenty of room if one needs to modify poses/exercises. Gosh, what can I even say. Anyone who has been to this branch knows the love, friendship, and just amazing energy that every single member of the staff exudes. On the surface level, yes 100% the workouts get you toned and looking great. But that's not the life changing part of the method. The reason I fell in love with bar is the focus on strength and thanking your body. I am updating my review for Bar Method SLO. My original review was the first week I took classes here and was more about my journey than the studio which is not what you came here for. If you want to be in an environment where you feel comfortable and motivated, this is a the perfect spot. It is a judgment free zone, filled with Teachers who get to know you, are genuinely excited to see you walk through the door. They inspire you to be a better you. They work with you to improve your body as well as your frame of mind, I always leave there feeling like I had the best workout but its my attitude change I am addicted to. I have to start out by saying that I have never enjoyed working out... ever. I'm mean, who does?! I have a 1 1/2 year old daughter and was looking for a way to drop my extra baby weight. I took my very first class when she was 3 months old (because of their awesome kids club) and am still happily enrolled and loving every second of it. I truly didn't think that I could achieve my pre-baby body again but within 4 months I was in better shape than I was before I got pregnant. The classes are exciting, hard and yet completely do-able at any level. I think that's why I've been so successful to stick with it. The owner Mimi's energy and enthusiasm for The Bar Method's way of life is contagious. She's incredible and only hires the best, like her sidekick Heather. Crisp, clean, and modern, the Bar Method has everything you need to make your workout successful (from hair ties to deodorant), plus the workouts are beyond satisfying. Both were fantastic, encouraging, and challenging! Loved the vibe and community of people in the classes! All ages and athletic abilities can participate. Located on Broad Street across from the airport you can't miss the signage. Community West Bank is in adjoining building. The studio is beautiful and sleek. Check out the gorgeous chandelier as you walk in! The locker room reminds me of a hotel. Bathrooms are off the hallway and refillable water station for your water bottles. The studio has floor to ceiling windows to take in the beautiful surroundings. Parking is plentiful! And classes can accommodate your work/life/school schedule. Kids: They have a kids club!!!!! I chose the introductory option for 30 days unlimited for $79. My first class I did not love because I am used to doing cardio but the more I go the more I love it. The staff is so friendly and remembers your name as well as correcting your form. They really focus on making sure you get the best workout while preventing injury. I've been going to The Bar Method for about a year and day one I knew I loved the low impact workout and it pushed me physically to my limits. But what it has come to mean to me now is so much more than just a workout it's also a place I come to clear my mind and building mental strength to take on my day. I was invited to try barre by a friend who had been going for almost a year and loving it . It's in my opinion a mix of ballet and palates with elements of yoga . The space it's self is so bright and clean and simple . You just feel nice walking in . You do most of the class standing by a bar for balance and even though you are essentially doing ballet , I think even a man would agree that it's a very intense workout . Your legs shake uncontrollably and feel like lava is running through them . Just when I get to a point where I think I'm going to collapse I can't do this there is a wonderful break with a yoga pose or 2 . All the while the music changes from up beat getting you pumped to calm and relaxing . The whole experience is so rewarding . Mimi and the staff make everyone feel so welcome with a big " hello ______!" as soon as you walk in and she will give you shout outs throughout the class to keep you going . This is not like your typical gym ... it's a community of women who empower each other. You leave feeling strong and ready to take on the world . I signed up for a trial 45 days and after it was up , it was a no brainer for me to sign up as a member . I can't get enough .
