Kristin is a QUEEN and teaches the most incredible class. I was in town for a graduation weekend and took her flow class and WOW! She has such an incredible flow for the class, creates such a wonderful environment for her students, and gave tons of variations for folks with different skills. I suck at yoga but left feeling so accomplished and feeling so centered. The studio itself is so cute, clean, and welcoming. The staff was also super friendly as I was new coming to the studio and they were beyond welcoming. Would come here on the regular if I lived in the area. read more

I try to stop by whenever I'm in town. Spark offers a free community class Sundays at 10:45 am which is great. Get there early because it does fill up. Book ahead of time on the Mindbody app! There's parking available in the back lot. Mat rentals are $2. Pretty basic mat--it doesn't have the best traction so there's slipping and sliding esp in a heated class. Would recommend bringing your own if you can. They sell a variety of things from mats, essential oils, water bottles, clothing, and even the (s)local Whalebird kombucha which is amazing. read more

Look for Morgan on the schedule. She is the best. She is friendly and knowledgeable. She is living the yogi lifestyle with several classes offerings each week. I signed up for the trial offer. I tried the Restore, Refine and the Flow classes. The refine and restore were similar, with the restore using more props like bolsters and blankets. Both relaxing and rejuvenating. All the class have a great online sign up that allows you to reserve your slot on the floor. When the class starts, you can move or spread to any unused area. Although the classes were full they didn't feel crowded. All the classes end with a frozen lavender scented towel. The flow class was my favorite. Although I didn't know all the poses, I never felt left behind. I did send a question online on several platforms and never heard back, but the staff at both the Foothill and Laurel locations were great. Maybe digital just isn't their thing. My question was about the classes that had the word WARM in the title. I wanted to know what this meant. *It means that the temperature won't be as hot. Even though in the description of the warm class it says it will be 100. This is just a copy and paste mistake. The warm classes are 90ish degrees. A LONG over due review of spark: I was introduced to Spark shortly after my spouse passed away. This place quickly became therapy for me. I started off with Hatha classes with Victoria. She is gentle, calming and her classes provide physical and mental peace. After a month or so I began vinyasa and sculpt classes. They are intense in the absolute best way. Steph, the owner truly cares about her students & their personal practice. She is always bubbly and smiling. If you need a space to not only workout but shed off the days stress this is the perfect place for that. I have attended their free community flow yoga that is held at 10:30am every Sunday. This class is extremely popular (duh it's free) so advanced booking is definitely recommended on the MINDBODY app. I have tried to book into the class on Thursday evening before and have found it full. I am not kidding people, book early! The class is enjoyable every time I go. Since it is a large class, there is less one on one attention from the instructor but that's expected. The room is heated so you are sure to work up a great sweat. Overall the studio is homey and clean. I would definitely recommend checking it out! read more

I have never paid that much for a yoga class. For the drop in rate they should be steam washing my yoga mat at the end of the class. The studio had no windows, the EDM music was atrocious, and when you left the 100 degree yoga studio it was air conditioned! They were kind, organized, and the teacher was good but please someone tell me how loud EDM music is a good listen? I would try the place again but only if I had a 5 class pass or something like that so the class gets to a reasonable $17. read more

The issue has been resolved and I'm so grateful. Thank you, Steph! Ok hear me out. First of all... I've taken 5 classes. All of them were AMAZING! Such a treat. Alex's bootcamp... kickass! Jasmine's barre class... amazing! Ketzia's candle flow... rejuvenating! Alex's Power class... challenging! Sarah's sculpt class... sweaty... and fun! 3 stars for the lack of communication over the past 2 weeks. But let me start from the beginning: I typically go to a gym up in Atascadero. I'm use to doing the stair master, the treadmill, and pilates. I've been wanting to find a place to go to a little closer to my home in Slo. I have a handful of clients that go to Spark for all classes. One of my clients got me a one month unlimited class gift card. I created my account on the app to book a class and for some reason the gift card wasn't redeeming. I really wanted to do a class with my client the following weekend. Because my gift card wasn't redeeming, I purchased credits from the newbie special. 10 classes for $30 expiring in two weeks. So I booked a class, went to the class, and fell in love with it. Later that day, I called my gym and canceled my membership. I waited around to chat about my gift card after the first class but the gal at the front desk was working with a couple of other guests. I had a zoom meeting so I wasn't able to stay much longer. January 10th, I gave them a call, no answer. I gave them another call, no answer. Mind you this was during business hours. I then saw that you were able to text the phone number that they had listed on their website. January 11th, I sent them a text message. No reply. Throughout the week I called but there was still no answer. I was calling both locations. I finally sent an email this week. Right after I sent the email I thought I would call one more time. I was ecstatic when someone picked up. I explained my situation with the gift card and she mentioned a couple of other people were also having issues redeeming their gift cards. She said it would be best for me to come in. So I got dressed and I headed to spark before I went to work. Once I got there, the gal at the front desk took down my information and let me know that the owner would be in around 10am. The gal at the front desk did let me know she would provide me with five credits. Unfortunately, when I went to book a couple of classes, it would only let me book two. I received an email later on that day. It is about five maybe six days later since I went into spark, and I still have not been able to redeem my gift card. I know other people have had a hard time with communication with this studio. Please don't get me wrong, this is an amazing place to work out and has a beautiful community. But I just am bummed. Again, I did cancel my gym membership so I haven't been able to workout. At some point I will definitely be buying credits, but I don't want to redeem the gift card if it's only one month unlimited and I just bought credits. I am really hoping to just get a call from the studio as I have been pretty patient. read more

Overall very unhappy with this place. I had communication with the owner after a feedback request because I couldn't reach them after several calls (voicemail full), an email on yelp, and an email online, of which no messages were returned. Finally went in to speak with them and scheduled an intro class. I wasn't fond of instructor who fancies throwing big technical terms around instead of being relatable like many other instructors I've had. Gave all this feedback to owner and decided against a yelp review until I gave them another chance. Second chance = purchased newbie special. Couldn't find their class descriptions so scheduled what I thought would be a gentle/yin yoga. It was completely the opposite. When talking to them, they offer very few yin type classes so my newbie offer and time is wasted. Good thing I got a refund. My experience here was bad, start to finish. read more

My sister introduced me to Spark while home from Cal Poly during the shelter-in-place. I'm 26 and hadn't been in shape for 5 years, having not found a program I could stick with alongside my school/work schedule. I fell in love with Spark's online on-demand classes! I take class 5-6 days a week (usually sculpt, power flow, or Spark flow) and when they started charging for on-demand membership, I bought a subscription right away ($20/month or $200/year, an amazing deal). They also have great core & cardio, barre, gentle flow, and arm-balance tutorial classes (for those of us who can't break into a sudden inversion on command). My favorite teachers are Steph, Niccola, Makena and Alan, who kick my butt but have increased my physical and mental well-being in such a huge way. I've gone through countless yoga phases but have never felt so strong and accomplished. Please keep the on-demand classes for those of us who can't make it in person! read more

I took 3 or 4 different yoga and barre classes this week when I had some time off of work. I especially enjoyed lindseys barre class. The playlist was dynamite and I left feeling like I got a well-rounded full body workout. I also really enjoyed Morgans power class. It was especially challenging and I loved the flow. Really loving the on demand classes. I always wanted to try this studio but had trouble fitting in it my schedule. The on demand classes have been the best thing ever! Such a great variety to choose from. Easy to access. Instruction that is easy to follow. Challenging and a really good workout for me. I have been enjoying Sculpt and HIIT Pilates. I did a boot camp class that was also good and just noticed that there are some shorter workouts that I would like to try. I really hope that Spark keeps the on demand classes as an option when things get back to normal so that those of us that have trouble making it into the studio can still workout at home along with you! This is probably my favorite studio out of all the studios of been to in various cities I've lived in across the country. What I love is the variety of classes and the robust schedule. The people are great, too, and I've always had positive experiences here. Parking is never a problem, and it's free, which is a perk of its location. If you struggle with the heat, like I do, some of the classes will be more challenging, but I still think they're worth the challenge. Plus, the ice cold lavender towel they give you at the end of classes feels really darn good. Many of the classes fill quickly, so be sure to book in advance--sometimes days in advance--if you want to go to your favorite classes. I was kind of nervous to try Spark Yoga for the first time. I had been to group fitness classes before, and hadn't always had the best experiences (feeling out of place, out of my league, judged, etc). Starting something new by yourself is scary! But I'm soooo glad I chose to begin. Spark Yoga offers many different classes. My favorite, "Spark Sculpt" is literally the perfect workout!! You work on your breath, your posture, your intentions, and you squat and sweat! What more could you ask for? Although I got a nosebleed after my first trial, the staff members were super helpful to help me prevent another one. The space is so peaceful and calming, the instructors are literal walking angels, and the app makes booking super easy. Wanna go back!!!! I have been taken Barre classes there more than one year. Sadly I just moved down to LA, which is to San Bernardino. There are very few yoga classes, especially barre class here. I took one barre class in the new place called Vasa and was so disappointed with their class. It can't compare with the instructors' teaching and practices we do in Spark at all. I really doubt what we do in Vasa is called barre class, excuse me??!! Although the new place costs only $40/month, I would rather to pay more than double without hesitation to come back for Spark because Spark worths every penny. I love Spark so much! I've been going to Spark for close to four years now and I can honestly say it has completely reshaped my feelings for working out. I used to hate working out, and now I'm actually excited to go to classes and I'm sad when I have to miss one. A lot of the teachers put an emphasis on the whole body and mind, not just what the classes are doing for your body. This thinking of focusing on all the great benefits yoga and working out can have for your mental and emotional health, is such a wonderful shift of perspective. It helps keep me motivated. Spark has a wonderful variety of classes from hard workout classes, to restorative yoga classes. Barre is my favorite, although it's hard to choose just one. It's the first yoga studio I ever felt comfortable in. The first class I took was an advanced yoga class (I didn't know, and it was my first ever yoga class). The teacher was so very kind to me the whole class and helped me with modifications every step of the way. No one ever made me feel like I was unwelcome or in the wrong place. It was a great first experience, although I started with the basics after that. :) I'm confused by a comment I read saying that there are very strict rules. The rules in this studio aren't unlike any other yoga studio I've been too (In fact they are much nicer than most that I've been to) and seem very reasonable for keeping the experience great for everyone. IE: no shoes in the classroom, no phones in the classroom etc. The owners are very sweet and really strive to create a place that is welcoming and non- judgmental. Spark offers morning classes that work great with my schedule for the most part! "Spark Barre Pro" is the morning class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which is kind of sad for me because I would much rather have regular barre in the mornings as I have not taken the 10 required barre classes to attend barre pro. Other than that this is a great studio! Accommodating staff and a good energy, Spark is worth a try. Your first class is free, which means I can take friends who want a low risk opportunity to do yoga with me and they have a good newbie special for your first month. Finally, spark has lots of cool workshops and "free days" which I think are awesome because they really reach out to the local community and the student community. read more

Best place for Barre yogi on the Central Coast. Best teachers Brita, Emily and Steph. They all are different and great in different ways. The best Barre yogi class I have ever been to. This is, by far, my absolute favorite studio in San Luis Obispo. The Spark Sculpt class with Brittni and also with Steph has completely and utterly transformed my body. I always walk out of this class feeling amazing, and Brittni must be made of magic, because her soul and energy is completely infectious and wonderful. I have been active my whole life, running, playing soccer, crossfit, etc, and NOTHING has shaped my body like this. Do yourself a favor and do the class!!! Spark is a great little yoga space in SLO. I like the hour long class lengths, class style variety, and plethora of equipment. As someone who has been taking wellness classes around SLO for 15 years, and taught them around the community for 10 years, I love what this space is up to and look forward to seeing how they continue to evolve! Thanks for doing what you do, Spark! Some very specific personal preferences: The heat gets overwhelming for me sometimes. The classes can be so fast paced and loud that I can't hear what the next move is and by the time I figure it out the instructor has moved on. I wouldn't expect the studio to change those things though, they seem to be part of the vibe and most students seem to love those parts of the classes so it's likely just me :) read more

I have been a member of Spark Yoga for 4 years now and I have never enjoyed going to any exercise studio/ gym/ yoga studio more. I really can't say enough good things about this awesome studio! I look forward to attending their classes and always feel fantastic when I leave. Steph ( the owner) puts her heart and soul into this place and her love and dedication to making Spark unique is obvious from the moment you meet her. All the classes are great and there is so much variety for all tastes. I also appreciate that there are SO many class times offered. I don't work a regular 9 to 5 job and am not a morning person and so the noon to 8pm classes work great for me. Not many studious offer so many ( or any) classes at noon , 3pm, 4pm and after 6pm. When I go to Spark regularly, I feel my best both mentally and physically and also feel stronger and more confident. Also, if the idea of a heated class feels scary or intimidating, don't let that stop you from trying it out. I will admit that it took me a few times to get used to it but now I'm totally addicted and actually LOVE the heat. And also, I tried Bikram Yoga twice and disliked it a lot but love ,love the hot yoga at Spark. Also, while many of the members are in their 20s ( it's a college town , afterall) , there are members of all ages and sizes and the place has a very non pretentious feel to it. I'm 45, not bendy, and have plenty of cushion and I've always felt comfortable and welcome there. Steph also does a fantastic job of hiring excellent teachers for her classes ( and she's an excellent teacher herself).
