It's a great default for an easy kid-friendly lunch or dinner, with pleasant atmosphere, friendly (if reliably slow) service, and a view of the harbor that never fails to entertain the four-and-under crew. The food is solid, and has gotten better since my first visit, thanks to a new chef. There's a one-bite uni and puffed rice appetizer that's always a nice treat, and I like the meatballs and shrimp cocktail and coconut shrimp too. I haven't settled on a go-to entrée, but everything has been pretty good. I can't remember everything I've had here, but I've enjoyed the linguine and clams, the curried chicken salad, and the monthly lobster dinner with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The kid's menu works well for my boys, who eat the grilled cheese, the chicken tenders, and the butter and marinara pastas. Honestly, I'd like the yacht club even if the food kind of sucked. My father-in-law got married here a couple years ago (bride and groom were youthful and glowing at 77 and 79), and it was a lovely venue for a small wedding, with the ceremony and the dinner on different floors of the club. When they're not getting married, he and his wife seem to treat the place like an extension of their home. The people know them and always greet them warmly, which my husband and I appreciate. The yacht club is now one of our default restaurants when we're in town, and both of our boys have grown to know and like the place. It's a nice, comfortable spot in the heart of beautiful Santa Barbara, where my husband and I can enjoy a leisurely drink (the wine pours are quite generous) while the kids hang out with their grandparents. We've already made lots of memories here, and I expect we'll make many more in the years to come.

Since we're both from Santa Barbara, we really wanted to show off our beautiful hometown to all our family and friends, and the Yacht Club was the ideal spot to do that. The waterfront setting was exactly what we dreamed of for bringing everyone together, and the service throughout the evening was fantastic. Our guests had such a great time, and we heard so many comments about how beautiful the location was. Kayla made the whole planning process so smooth and easy, and was incredibly accommodating when we had to adjust our timeline due to my cancer treatment. The welcome party really set the perfect tone for the whole weekend--it was intimate, beautiful, and gave everyone a chance to mingle before the big day. With kids, there's a fair amount of beach gear to carry and the closer the car, the better. Not only was the parking close, there were plenty for both compact and large vehicles. As for the beach itself, the waves are pretty low and kid friendly. I did see a harbor seal swim parallel with someone, popping his head up every now and then. My kids found a loveliness of ladybugs on the beach. Unfortunately most didn't make it. We were however, able to save one. The restrooms were well maintained with showers outside. There is also a restaurant nearby if any snacks you packed weren't enough. I highly recommend this beach for the convenience of parking and kid approved sand quality.

You know I've never been a fan of this beach because of all the trash, seaweed, and crazy amounts…read moreof tourists. This is the location the cruise ships, international tour buses, and other over packed forms of transportation for travelers make their drop offs. Therefor it's usually dirty, kind of smelly, and has things everywhere. The cool part about this being a tourist drop off is the sand castle artists that make awesome sculptures on occasion, the flags that are put up in remembrance of memorial themed holidays, and the awesome restaurants across the street. The sand itself and especially the ocean shore is not the safest, most pleasant smelling, clean looking beach sight you'll see in town. I'd recommend just heading over to East Beach for a fun, clean, beautiful time for the whole family. If anything you can bike along the path of West Beach and look at all the restaurants, the pier, and the couple volleyball players that post up here, but that's about the extent of things for this area.
