My dog loves this place and comes come exhausted for days! I would highly recommend!

Today is Wednesday and I wanted to bring my sweet 10 pound Shih-Poo dog by sometime this week and then to start the doggie day care for next Monday-Friday. I just found out I will be away next week for work. My dog will be in his cage for 14 hours a day next week unless I find some sort of daycare/dog sitter. I called Barker lounge based on a recommendation. The gentleman on the phone basically said they didn't have a "Meet and greet" day until next Wednesday so "good luck finding somewhere". I understand that it is a bit of short notice however, to be so uncompromising and turn away new business seems like a bad business model. If you need to use Barker Lounge; I suggest not needing them for at least 1-2 weeks. Oh and "good luck". read more

It looks like it could have been a great place. However you must participate in a "meet & greet" before you can board or take you dog for day care. This is fine except they don't have any appointments for a "meet and greet" until 1 to 2 months out. I don't know if they are under staffed or have some management issue but I am passing on this place. Not being to actually provide the service is a red flag for me :( read more

Our 1 year old Pitt-mix, named Finn, is a bundle of energy. We tried all sorts of things to try and wear him out. Then, we tried The Barker Lounge. After his first free day, he came home and slept for basically 2 days. We go back regularly now for daycare, boarding, and grooming. The fact that he can spend a day socializing and having fun with his friends, instead of sitting in a crate makes it so worth it. Prices are incredibly reasonable for the service. The staff is wonderful - always smiling and happy to see "goofy foot"! Facility is clean and spacious. They have truly been a lifesaver, and we can't thank them enough. I love this place! When I rescued my dog I knew she needed socialization and to learn how to interact better with people. They have been great with her and are willing to work with her when she is in daycare. My dog immediately gets excited when she realizes where we are at drop off time so I know she loves her daycare time too. They are also cost effective as far as doggy daycares go. I just happened to scroll through a few reviews that gave poor ratings and I was really wondering if there was something that I should be concerned about since my German Shepherd occasionally goes here for daycare or boarding. I really depend on my dog a lot for feedback about her experiences in various dog boarding facilities we've used. It's always very obvious to us when she's been miserable in any particular place and we stop taking her to those. So in reading the negative reviews it seems to me that some of those customers have expectations that they can be in a rush, communicate poorly, and ignore the very clear information that the Barker Lounge website contains and as a result they are dissatisfied and have multiple complaints. If you plan properly, it's much easier to have a good experience for yourself as well as your dog. In my opinion the staff here has always been polite and helpful and my dog seems to like it better here than any other place we've left her. That's actually a tremendous compliment to Barker because my dog is extremely attached to us and hates being left anywhere without us. read more

We've been using Barker Lounge for boarding for our 2 toy poodles for about 3 years. We travel a lot and don't have family close by. I trust that my dogs' wagging tails when we arrive show they like it here. And the staff is always very kind and accommodating when we have last-minute requests. We love the Barker Lounge! We have been taking our dog Gunner there for over two years! They take such good care of our baby boy. Before going to the Barker Lounge we were taking him to another Day Care. After a few weeks he wouldn't even get out of the car. It was so upsetting. Thankfully somebody recommended The Barker Lounge to us. Gunner hangs out the window and jumps right out of the car when we get to The Barker Lounge. He loves it there. The Barker Lounge is simply the best! My dog Skully has been going there since he was a puppy and loves, loves, loves it. He is also groomed there and is boarded when I'm out of town. He receives such incredibly wonderful care. The entire staff is absolutely dedicated to the health and happiness of every dog. And the facilities are amazing! And another word about the staff - I was stopped in Petsmart one day by a lovely young lady I had never met when she came up to Skully and I and started hugging him. She was one of the workers that are typically in the back at the Barker Lounge watching over the dogs. I have been taking my dogs to Barker Lounge for so many years! In March I adopted a rescue and have been taking her there about once a week just for socialization. Schatzi is a little over a year old now. She is doing so well with other dogs. She also comes home so tired...which is great. Recently, the staff at Barker Lounge noticed that her one eye should be checked. Sure enough I took her to the vet and her tear duct was "blocked". I was so pleased the staff noticed the problem. Staff,are we'll trained and they offer more amenities than anyone could offer at home, birthday parties, dog pool, bubble machines. Plus quiet areas for the senior crowd. From the beautiful facility, to the caring and attentive staff, Barker lounge is a wonderful investment for your pet. I have a high energy blue heeler/shiba inu mix who is plays rough and doesn't tire easily. At times, he's aloof with strangers and hesitant to engage new people. Whenever he goes to Barker, he comes back fully worn out! He boarded for a week and the staff sent me an email update midweek and a report card at the end of his stay. They are thoughtful and really get to know your dog's character. They also stay closely connected with your vet, which made me feel comfortable should anything happen. Prices are reasonable, I'd definitely suggest buying a package and dropping your pup off early in the morning to get the most bang for your buck. They're open from 7am-7pm, which is better than some child daycares! I leave my pup there 11 or 12 hours and I'm pretty sure he plays the entire time lol! We love Barker and trust them with our little guy hands down. read more

I was searching for a new groomer and found Barker Lounge which got great reviews. I saw that a lot of people were recommending the daycare and I decided to enroll my dog in daycare to social her and give her something to do while my husband and I were at work. We decided to give the grooming a shot and then set up a meet and greet for daycare. My husband dropped my dog off to be groomed and requested that they only take off a half of an inch of hair. My dog is a Pomeranian and I wanted her to look like her breed. When my husband picked her up, he noticed that her fur was extremely short and choppy. He told me that he wasn't able to speak to the groomer, as she had went out for lunch. When I got home, I emailed the facility and expressed my dissatisfaction with my dog's hair cut. At this point, I was still planning to bring my dog to the daycare because I felt like the groomer had nothing to do with the actual daycare. A day later, the owner emailed me back a three paragraph email basically blaming my husband for being "vague" about how he wanted the dog's haircut. The owner even mentioned having video footage showing that my husband was vague. My response, who does that? The groomer did a bad job but I did not need a long email defending the groomer. I have to say that he did agree that my dog's hair was "choppy" and he offered to fix it but I declined, as my dog's hair is extremely short and there was nothing that could be done to fix it. Unfortunately, I am looking for another daycare in the area because I refuse to give this place my business after the way they handled things. Had the owner just apologized and offered to fix it, I would have still taken my dog there but considering that he blamed my husband for a bad grooming job, I will got elsewhere. read more

It is unfortunate that franchise expansion has caused customer service to deteriorate at the Cranford location. The owner (Jason) creates random policies, which are unfair and absurd. After more than 10 years of customer loyalty, he recently told me that I would have to pay 100% in advance for boarding my pet because I recently canceled 2-3 times without proper notice due to circumstances beyond my control. When I explained that the automated system was sending 24 hour reminders when the cancellation policy was 48 hours, he basically called me a liar. After providing the emails as proof he promised to look into it but I guess that was just talk. Considering the amount of money he's made from me over the past 10+ years, I would expect a bit more compassion and understanding. Buyer beware. This place used to be great but they need to know they're not the only doggie haven in New Jersey. They have lost my business for good. read more

This place is poorly managed I brought my dog there to be groomed. They told me she would be finished at noon and they never called. Finally I called them and got them on the phone after several tries. They told me she was not finished yet and it had been 8 hours. Then they told me she would not be finished today and I would have to come back. I went to pick her up immediately and got there in 10 minutes. The young girl at the front desk ignored me for 7 minutes straight, while she talked on the phone to 1 of her girlfriends. When they brought my dog down she had a large cut in her paw that had been bleeding. Her haircut was not finished and she was shaking and scared. The girl at the front desk was young and immature and could not accommodate my needs. By the time I was able to get my dog it was too late to go to another groomer to finish her haircut. They never communicated that she had been injured or that she would be finished so late in the day. If they had just called to tell me, I would have been able to get her haircut finished somewhere else. I will never bring my dog back after this experience. read more

I recently brought my dog to Barker Lounge for grooming. I was greeted at the front desk by a young lady who asked me what I would like done & I explained I wanted a traditional cut for her along with a detailed picture & notes regarding the grooming. I never met the actual person who was doing the grooming and the whole experience left me thinking is this young lady going to repeat all of the details I just gave her & also the picture??? Well, when I went to pick her up I was flabbergasted. She looked like a lawn mower was used on her, all choppy & never even touched her ears, even though the picture showed a complete clean ear trim. I would never take her back to this place & think that while the work staff seemed young, experience in dealing with the public was really missing. read more

We took our puppy Blue to the barker lounge for the first time yesterday and I was so very nervous. I have to say that my expectations were beyond met .The people at the barker lounge made every accommodation for me in order for me to go to my surgery worry free and not have to worry about Blue. They allowed us to drop him off early and also worked with us on a pick up time. I could not be anymore happy and will definitely be back time and time again. Without the Barker Lounge we simply couldn't have a dog. We love this place and its staff and even more importantly so does our dog. We always know that he's well taken care of. They definitely love dogs and he clearly loves them. It's super easy to check him in and out for daycare. Their groomer is outstanding. We use them throughout the whole summer for boarding because our son is in travel baseball which means we're away almost every weekend in June and July. The place is always spotless and the staff is always very friendly. We just can't say enough good things about The Barker Lounge. We are so thankful knowing that our dog is always in good hands with them. read more

This place is the greatest! My girl means the world to me & I didn't think I'd ever be comfortable leaving her anywhere, but with work it's a necessary evil. The Barker Lounge, Roselle made this an easy, guilt free experience because I know she'll be having a blast with her friends and the staff all day long, not cooped up in a cage. I take my girl to day care here a couple times every week & on the occasion that I must leave her to be boarded, this is her vacation spot. The staff knows each customer (canine & their human) by name when you walk in, they greet your precious pet as if they are their own, it makes me feel great about this place. My girl gets so excited when I ask her if she wants to go to school, wagging her whole butt and showing her teeth to smile. She's exhausted at the end of her play day & sleeps the whole next day... and we all know that a tired dog is a good dog! This place has been a life saver. I can't write enough about how amazing the Barker Lounge is. As soon as I let my dog out of my car he practically drags me inside so he can play with all his furry buddies. The staff is excellent, and genuinely care about the dogs they look after. I am so at ease knowing my dog spends his days in a loving, active environment rather than languishing at home, lonely and bored. During overnights he even comes home with a little "report card" that tells us how he liked his stay, and it's always fun to catch sight of him playing on one of the Barker Lounge's youtube videos! I could go on and on, but I'll end by saying I don't know what I'd do without the Barker Lounge and their excellent staff, and wouldn't trust my pup anywhere else. read more

Our 2 year old Havanese LOVES this place. We can't say "Barker Lounge" in her presence or she gets way too excited and thinks she's going that instant. When she comes home after a day or an overnight visit she's knocked out because she played the entire time. Barker Lounge is the best! I have been taking my Jack Russell here for almost 2 years. When I first brought Jax home, he was the definition of a Jack Russell Terror. I discovered Barker shortly before his first birthday. They have changed both of our lives completely. Of course, I was skeptical about leaving my dog with anyone because I am a very overprotective, worried dog Mom - not only that he would get kicked out but that he wouldn't receive the attention that he is used to. He comes home happy and exhausted from playing with his 2 legged and 4 legged friends! I have never felt more at ease leaving my fur-son with anyone! Everyone at the facility is amazing. Courteous, professional, resourceful, and FUN! They report back with any and all details you will need to know about what happened during the day. Who your pup played with, if they were acting out of the ordinary, if they got into a little scuffle with another pup. They do not leave any details out! I recently went away for 10 days and without any hesitation, I booked 10 days of boarding with Barker. I did not have access to email or phone daily but when I did, they responded back quickly letting me know how my guy was doing. Prior to leaving, I sent them about 10,000 emails asking "what if" questions and they went over every scenario with me in case he did start having any issues and it totally put me at ease. Jax is a snuggler and sleeps in bed with us so I was nervous that he would become depressed and start acting up but he was so comfortable at his home away from home! They even sent me a video while I was away! He was the happiest guy when we picked him up. I've heard horror stories about pups not eating, losing patches of hair, etc. but not with Barker Lounge! They will take care of your pup as if they were their own which is the best feeling in the world. He's even become a little more attached to the bed he had in his kennel. Their policies on vet visits I think are fantastic. I would absolutely rather be safe than sorry, as I'm sure all pet owners would be regarding the health and safety of my dog. They accept day care reservations and are VERY responsive to emails so if you catch yourself in a bind, and need to drop your pup off, shoot a quick email or call - they will let you know if they can accommodate your need! Nothing makes me happier than seeing such a fantastic business doing so well. I can not thank Barker enough for all they have done for my pup (and me too!). read more

I can't say enough good things about the Barker Lounge. Jake and Holly go there regularly for doggy day care and love it!They come home tired and happy after a full day of playing with both their canine and human friends. The new location in Cranford is wonderful. The entire facility both inside and out is not only larger but it is extremely clean and wonderfully decorated. I have also used the boarding facilities and wouldn't trust anyone else with taking such great care of my dogs when I am out of town. Their groomer is phenomenal. She does a superb job making them smell and look fabulous. Last but not least, I cannot say enough about each and every staff member that I've come in contact with. They are friendly, helpful and truly looking out for the safety and well-being of all the dogs. Jake, Holly and I consider the Barker Lounge part of our family. Please be careful when leaving a pet in their care. I left my dog in July and she had all bug bites when I picked her up and they were infected. She needed to see her vet immediately. They said they knew nothing about bugs in their facility and would not help with any vet bills after paying approximately $700 for dog boarding. Before transferring to Charlotte from North Shore Chicago area, we researched the Charlotte dog daycare and boarding scene quite a bit and one name seemed to keep coming up online, and when we would be in town looking at houses -- "The Barker Lounge is the best place for your pup" ! So obviously, we wanted the best for our little Havanese, Charleston ! It was very important to get him in for his evaluation on our first day here, so he could board during the movers' unloading days with the new home's doors being wide open. He passed, loved his first day and went back the next day, practically running in and didn't even look back to say goodbye. The staff was so helpful all along with our questions and paperwork and really helped us with the transition of our move. Charlie loves it at the Barker Lounge and just yelps and yelps to get out of the car as soon as I pull into the lot ! He has also gone in for grooming twice and we have been very pleased with those services and also with the overall kindness of everyone there.
