I can't say enough good things about how delicious the food was. The area isn't big, but it does its job well. The moment you walk in, you get the feeling of just being family. Ugh... why can't there be a place like this near where I live? I stopped in here while visiting my friend who lives nearby. I wanted a kind of greasy spoon, diner breakfast... something I hadn't had in a long time. I was so happy to find 158 Main. It fit the bill, cute atmosphere, big portions, attentive service, and down-home cooking. I couldn't believe they had SOS (chipped beef and gravy) on the menu. I've only ever had the frozen version at home. I couldn't order it fast enough and was so so happy I did. The gravy had a deep, great flavor and was in perfect ratio to the toast. The potatoes where nice and crispy and the eggs were seasoned just right. I would 100% be a regular here if I lived nearby. read more

This is a quaint small restaurant that was quite busy in the small town of Jefferson. The decor is minimal, but the feel of the place is authentic. We were welcomed promptly and told it would be a 25-30 minute wait. We were seated in about 20. I ordered coffee and the classic egg benedict. My husband ordered a cheese omelette. We both opted for french fries instead of home fries. The food was very good. My benedict was great, I'm very picky about my hollandaise and this one was on point. The eggs were poached very nicely and the muffin was NOT tough, which seems to be an issue locally, so I was quite happy. The fries were super fresh and just the right crisp. My husband said his omelette was very good-he prefers 'fluffy' eggs, and these were nice & fluffy. He agreed that the fries were great. This place is busy, but once you get your food, you understand why! Has a country diner,small town feel but huge portions!We went on Saturday morning, off season, and still had a bit of a wait. We found out they do take/recommend reservations, so keep that in mind! The brunch menu is extensive! They have everything from eggs Benedict ,pancakes, French toast to club sandwiches, and pretty much anything you can imagine in-between! They do have mimosas and bloody Mary's as well. Parking on the street is limited, but there is a lot behind the restaurant as well. read more

First time trying this place, have heard great things. Good looks great very nice bakery, but please do not order steak. I ordered a medium rare steak and this thing is near well done. Steak also lack any flavor and is very tough and chewy. Outside of that everything else is good love the potatoes and fresh white bread. Whenever we go to the area we go to 158 Main. The blueberry pancakes were so incredible and just huge. 3 big pancakes. Great for leftovers. The eggs Benedict were just perfect with quite a sense of lemon to them. Everything was so so good. We also got cookies and 2 loaves of bread to take home. Yum. We were looking for a destination restaurant and after checking online to make sure they were open, headed out for lunch to 158 Main, a 45 minute drive. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a young man who informed us that they were only accepting customers who had a reservation. Looking around, we saw that there were many empty tables and booths. We were on a mission to get French onion soup for lunch and this place came up on an internet search so we thought we would give it a try. It was worth the stop. The broth was very rich and delicious. The flatbread: The veggies were NOT overcooked into mushiness and the salad was crisp. The "jeffy" omelette: overstuffed with well done thick sliced bacon. The bacon was perfect for me as I love it well done. The omelette was slightly overcooked and the home fries were a bit boring (maybe a little paprika for color?) but this was made up for by the homemade bread. It was the kind of thick slice that your teeth sink into with the right amount of chew. On another note, the bench seating was firm. I'm not a fan when I sit in a booth and sink so low my chin is one the table. I will definitely be eating here again when I'm in the area. read more

The food came out great but the server didn't seem very happy to serve us, the food was great for breakfast. Some of the potatos were extra crispy and I kinda prefer that, the setting is very calm and it seems to be a fairly popular spot. I'd definitely check it out again at some point, but it did fall short for me in some spots as I mentioned, overall great food and dining experience, just don't know why the server was seemingly annoyed. read more

Stopped in here for lunch with my wife and 2 daughters. Waited just under 10 minutes for a table and had the best turkey club of my life. My friend and I came in after skiing yesterday at Smuggs. She told me they make the bread in-house and that they have amazing breakfasts. The menu is pretty extensive with lots of different options for breakfast and lunch. I was in the mood for a turkey club and she opted for the crabcake eggs benedict. I had a choice of bread, so I chose honey oat. My sandwich was huge and the plate piled high with fresh cut fries. Thick slices of real turkey, not deli meat. I took home half my sandwich. Her eggs were poached perfect and the spicy hollandaise she ordered on the side was pretty tasty with the right hint of lemon. The crabcake was just okay; I think I'd get the canadian bacon version next time. Service was excellent. This is a cozy place to get a great meal off the slopes (superior to resort offerings). We went for Father's Day and then even went back a second a few days later . We had reservations but the place is so busy we still had to wait a bit . They no longer have dinners but their breakfast , brunch and lunch are worth waiting for . On Father's Day , the 3 of us had a combination of eggs , bacon and either pancakes and French toast . All were delicious ! The French Toastwait staff is very attentive and accommodating. They like everywhere else is doing the best they can with staffing issues . We would definitely recommend . This is one of my favorite places to visit when I'm up in the area. It definitely has that small town diner feel that we all love so much. You'll probably have to wait a bit for a table, but it's worth it. They make all their own bread, and if you're feeling ~crazy~ you should try the grilled maple bread, drenched in the most amazing maple compote. Get one to share. You're welcome. My go to is a hot chocolate and an Irish Benedict. Their corn beef hash is delish and the eggs are always perfectly poached. If Benedict's are your thing, there's a ton of options.
