We both had cheeseburgers and fries/onion rings. Very filling and good. We love the decor of the dairy barn. If you go, be sure to walk around the large metal structure in the middle (it is a piece of farm equipment, I just don't know what it is called.) I especially love the bathrooms! This is a destination place for sure. There isn't much happening in Burrton Kansas. It was Saturday night, and even though our party of 5 was ahead of the dinner rush (we thought), our wait was over 30 minutes. Pretty crowded at the front end while waiting. We were seated at a high top table. Rather noisy. Hard floor, hard walls, metal grain bin bar. Loud table of twelve next to us. But we came for the food...and dessert. We started by ordering dessert. And, dang it, they were out of cherry pie. In our group we had chicken fried steak, a burger, chicken sandwich and something else. It was all really good. And there was plenty. This place is well worth the wait. My husband and I drove in from Wichita and put our names on the waitlist on our way. Once we arrived, we still had about a 30 minute wait, but we completely expected it. We ordered chips and queso as an appetizer. It also came with salsa. The chips and salsa were great, but the queso tastes like something poured out of a jar. For our entrees, my husband got chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and corn and I got chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was delicious! The steak and chicken were huge, the mashed potatoes tasted just like grandma made them from scratch, complete with a few chunks of potato! This place is well worth the drive and the wait! Huge waiting line on a weekend but well worth the wait. Newly built restaurant with a wide menu selection & helpful waitstaff. The chicken fried steak will definitely provide leftovers for several future meals. It was great & HUGE! The shrimp meal was good & the shrimp were a nice size. Everything was tasty from salads, to mashed potatoes, fries, rolls, & beverages. We will definitely be returning with the family. read more

This place has decent food and a cool atmosphere but the problem has always been the staff. Never trained properly, never help accountable for mistakes. Today was the biggest example of this, picking up my to go order(been having mostly to-go lately figuring it's harder to screw up) they had 2 people at the register neither of which knew how to ring my order. They run my debit card for 5800.00 dollars wiping out my checking in one fail swoop. While laughing about it....so inappropriate....the refund the charge and correct it but my banks say it take 2 business days to refund. So I'm screwed for the next 3 days and they never even bothered to apologize. Thought it was soooo funny. Never again. Done with the Barn. read more

The food was great but the food delivery was pretty slow we had a 7 person group but took 45 min to delivery the group.

We drove over today for friends 72nd birthday and really enjoyed lunch. The chicken fried steak is everything we heard it would be. Great place to eat. Only complaint would be wait staff standing around talking at hostess station and we waited a bit for her to return to us. Last Saturday, January 28th, the family headed over to Burrton for a much anticipated meal. We arrive in the 6:20 range and the parking lot was packed as was the lot across the street. There were people waiting outside as well...this was the place to be. I walked in to make a reservation and the folks lining the entrance and the immediate interior were all friendly and there was an general attitude of friendliness throughout the restaurant. We were greeted quickly and made arrangements and I returned to the car to wait for the text. We did not wait long and were called in for a table and joined the celebration. We were seated and then met by Allan, our waiter for the evening. Allan was thorough, professional and polite. He politely answered our questions and promptly took our orders. As we waited, I watched the crowd and the waitstaff and again, saw a friendly inviting place to be. Even under the pressure of a packed house, the staff was energetic and helpful to all; it was very impressive. Impressive also was our meal. I had a chopped steak, our daughter the chicken fried chicken and my wife had a loaded baked potato. The Chopped Steak was sooo good as were the mashed potatoes and the corn sides. The Chicken Fried Chicken brought a smile to our daughter's face and the Loaded Baked Potato was right on target. Our meal matched the service...first class. I am also a bit of a tea junkie and their ice tea checked all the boxes for me. Dessert was our conversation while we were leaving. I had a chance to banter with Tiffany and I believe Amy, both were positively excited and you could tell they cared about what was taking place in The Barn. I think a great deal of the positive atmosphere was because the good a nature of all of the helpers that evening. The atmosphere, the friendly people and a great meal was much appreciated. read more

My wife and I had the chicken fried steak. If I had turned the plate on its side, I could have let the grease run off the plate. It was the greasiest chicken fried steak I have ever had. The green beans were good and so was their butter. My wife said the roll tasted like it was home made. We went here for a Father's Day lunch. Over an hour and 15 minutes after ordering we did not have our food. They told me that they did not anticipate it being busy today (On a holiday?) and that we should stay because other people had been waiting longer than us. Totally ridiculous. Took group of 12 last night. We were all impressed with the atmosphere and food was quite good for most but, we ordered and waited more than an hour and a half to be served. Most of the group will not return. I on the other hand will give it one more try. Maybe couples or foursomes will do better. We saw many groups come, order and leave before we were served. Had heard how good the food was so stopped for lunch on our way to Hutchinson. Since we weren't up to a heavy meal we just got the special - roast beef and gravy over bread with mashed potatoes - and a Philly cheese sandwich with onion rings. The special was ok, powdered gravy?. and potatoes tasted a little off - maybe a spice I couldn't identify. Sandwich was average, nothing special, and the onion rings were basically inedible - maybe had been preprepared and kept warm so long they were beyond crunchy. We had a good experience. Enjoyed the decor and nice high ceiling and airy feel in the bar. Went around 6:00pm or so today/Thursday. Just had appetizers and drinks. We had great service. Maybe they are over compensating after reviews noting slower service. She checked on us almost too much actually. Couple TVs, one huge and great for baseball. Alot of the times I eat there service is slow. I ate a chicken fried steak and it was still raw. When they get it right it is good.but you just don't know when that is. Very inconsistent, the rolls are usually cold but will microwave if you ask also they taste like a roll you heat and serve. A very interesting building with the silo for a bar.if under better management and cooks that could be consistent and servers that did more than stand around it could be a bob and Sue's of old. read more

Went Saturday morning for breakfast at 10am. CFS is a common breakfast item, so figured this would be a good place to go. Sat down and server brought us a lunch menu. Another server came to get drink order and we asked if a breakfast menu was available. She brought us the breakfast menu. We notice CFS is not offered for breakfast. A third server came and said they stopped serving breakfast at 10 because they have to clean the fryer and grill to prep for lunch. OK, so we can have CFS for lunch. Wrong. Since they are cleaning the fryer and grill we can't really order lunch items until 11. So I asked " what is available from 10-11?" she said " basically nothing, but you could order chips and salsa." Wow. One of the servers came back and said we could order breakfast after all. Hash browns were under done and room temp. Sausage was missing from the omelet. Coffee and pancakes were good. Was not worth the drive for this carnival. read more
